I have a silly question for those who have done the WBTA (or EBTA) before. On our first sea day, can we "see" anything during our travels from Barcelona to Gibraltar? Or are we far enough away from the coast that we will not see anything. Silly.

P.S. 12 more days of work !!!

We could see land for most of the trip between the two last time. Also you can see quite a bit as we come in to Gibraltar!

Eye surgery went very well - as we knew it would!! Dennis was released an hour after surgery and we stopped by friends' house for coffee for an hour or so. Now we are home and he is napping. Thank you all for the good thoughts and prayers this morning. :grouphug:

So glad everything went well. Now he just has to get through the dental work and you are good to go!!!!

And on a final note...Jason and I had a RIDICULOUSLY productive weekend!! We finished EVERYTHING we needed to do for this trip except for setting up our blog, which we plan to do tonight (we are hoping to blog at least every other day with a quick report about what we did that day and some photos so that our friends and family can keep track of us on our month long voyage!!:thumbsup2). We also cleaned our entire house so we'd come home to a nice clean home......and....are you ready for this....

....WE PACKED!!

Not we started packing...not we set things aside to pack....WE PACKED!! Our suitcases are fully packed and sitting in the spare bedroom (no room by the front door or they'd be there) and ready to go!! The only thing we have left to do is to throw a few important items in our carry ons.....but otherwise we are good to go!!

......oh....and it's 2:55pm EST on Monday here.....exactly 3 days and 5 minutes from now I will be getting in my car and heading to the airport to catch our flight to begin our vacation!!

CONGRATS!!! Can't believe you will be traveling this week!! Please post a link to your blog so we can all follow along until we meet up!

Europe really does have just as many ATM machines as the US but it's worth being aware that if you want to use your credit card in a shop in Europe you will need to know your 4-digit Personal Identification Number because this area of security seems much more stringent.

You will definitely need your 4 digit pin - I was totally blown away when I put my CC into an ATM in the US and didn't need to use it, it just gave me the cash and then the same at a petrol station.

No one here ever signs for their CCs - its all pin numbers but I don't have a chip card yet - still mag stripe, my bank will start issuing them in October.

Jon - Sorry to hear of the loss of your Aunt :grouphug:

Erik - lanyard list looks great - thanks for your work on that!

Sue & Noel - I have posted pics on my FB page of Napier on a walk I went on yesterday - just took a few of the first few Art Deco buildings I walked past.

Todd - fab pic from Malta of the Magic!

Better go - I have 30 minutes to get ready, pack up my hotel room and get to my client site! :scared1:

Thank you all so much! :grouphug:

Hey folks....

U all are chatty as always...but gratefully I'm not a million pages behind..only had to catch up with about 10 on lunch break.

As a general announcement----I thought I'd let you know (I didn't see anyone post about it here on the boards but I might have missed it skimming) that I got a PM this morning from "Sue L"----because of an ankle injury, she and her husband are NOT going to be able to cruise with us. :sad2: She wanted to let me know that she wouldn't need her lanyards----which ended up being serendipitous for DizzneyDAnn and her husband who wanted lanyards but were late to the game....and so now I was able to give them lanyards!!:thumbsup2 I mention this because if Sue L is listed on any other lists like FE exchange, secret mickey, tastings, etc. then the organizers should make sure to pull her off. (Note: I still have a couple people on my "waiting list" who joined us late after all the lanyards were gone....but I am still thinking there are at least 3 people on my list who will not actually be on the cruise----figment795, tigger795 & KAP158 have still not responded to any PMs or emails...so we'll see if they materialize...if not, then the lanyards I have reserved for them will go to the next folks "in line" for lanyards)

(Also, has anyone heard from kcashner? I have sent a few PMs to her and still no reply and no room # for her. Anyone know her room #? Or if she is even cruising with us still?)

And THAT is a good reminder to everyone to PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK THE LANYARD LIST by clicking HERE. I know I've asked you to do that a million times...but we're in actual crunch time now----please double check it to make sure that your cabin # is listed there and that it is correct. This is immensely important to you actually getting your lanyards for the trip.....because Jason and I will be printing the final version of the lanyard list to bring with us on the trip on Wed. morning. We are going to print one in alphabetical order by DIS name so that at the DIS meet and during the sail away folks can come and find us and we can easily locate their lanyards and check them off. We are also going to print a list sorted by cabin #, because anyone who hasn't gotten their lanyards from me by the time I get out of dinner on the first night of the cruise can expect to find me knocking on their cabin door later that evening (and if they're "home" then we'll confirm who they are and give them their lanyards) and/or leaving a note under their door asking them to contact us at our room to confirm they are aboard and their room # and to make arrangements to get their lanyards from us. (Note: Also, if you change your room # and you do not get your lanyards at one of the meets----although on what seems to be a pretty full ship that is probably a bit unlikely----make sure that you contact me with that information at my cabin # with a note or a phone message at #6584).

OK, that is my public service announcement(s) about lanyards.

Beyond that......

.....thanks to everyone for the compliments on my new hair. I unveiled it at work today and it was a big shock...but seems most people like it. I am still getting used to...but I def. got ready faster this morning...I can sleep an extra 15 minutes every morning now!! :thumbsup2

Erik, our rooms are correct. Wow! Wish we were packed! Wish we were leaving this week!

I can, but I think that this was answered. When I inquired through the 800 number I was told they will only take euros if you exchanged through DCL in the first place. It could be that on the EBTA and other Med cruises they took what they could, but I would imagine thast having euros when heading to the US is not a desired thing... :)

Angie, please give our best to Dennis and tell him that there is a huge hug waiting for him in Barcelona!!! I hope that his surgery goes as planned, and that he is right as rain soon!!

Lynne - you have to come to the port and see us all!!! Besides - you need to help me keep the suite secret with the kiddos!!!
sue ,I cant wait to meet you guys...................
This is the post from the main board. It says Brent will be returning to the Magic soon. Who knows what that means?

Brent update
Hi everyone -

We just got off the Magic what a wonderful trip it was!!! Brent was missing and he sure was missed. Peter just wasn't the same... Anyway, on our last morning, we got to talking to Yolande and asked her what the true story with Brent was, as we kept getting different stories. We figured if anyone knew the truth it was her!!!! ANYWAY... Brent will be returning to the Magic soon and stay on until Dec and then is off for a bit and then will be on the Dream for some of Jan and all of Feb and is then moving to be head of DCL entertainment in Celebration. It looks like Brent's Cruise Directors days are definitely numbered!!!! I'll for sure miss him, but I think in the end this will be better for him and Yolande to start a family.

Erik, our room numbers are correct. Congrats on having everything squared away!

To say I am unprepared for this trip is an insult to people who are unprepared. I am woefully unprepared. I have been working all hours to try to finish two major work reports before I leave, and this weekend I was struck with an awful summer cold that has me sniffling at my desk and wanting to do nothing but nap!

Luckily DH was able to find some sports sandals (like most men, he only had the 3 pairs of shoes - dress for work, running shoes, and army boots) and a nondescript backpack.

Hopefully next weekend I will be able to finalize everything.

Happy Birthday, Sue!! May you spend it  on :cloud9: with lots of  , :grouphug:, :cake:, and pixiedust:.

DITTO! HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUE!
