Laundry - the room was always busy - deck 7. Went down about 6.30 one day and all the machines were taken and people queuing - managed to get a load into wash. People were saying that the room on deck 6 had been closed as the people in the room opposite had complained about the noise. When i went back to discover that the machines (which are now electronically controlled) had gone off line. Those running were ok, but they could not be started once complete. They tried a restart a couple of times but after 45 minutes they were still not back up. I had a load a wet washing and couldn't get it dry. Someone phoned guest services and they agreed to wash everyones laundry for free. At that point i thought i would just take it back to the room and get it dry one the balcony. Once i got back to the room i changed my mind and phoned guest services, i was told to put it in a laundry bag and someone would come and collect it. I did put a note to say it only needed drying, but i think they washed it too - i guess it could have sat for a couple of hours before they got to it. I put it down as express and had it back later the same day. Point being, it didn't matter what time you went to the laundry it was busy! Personally, i didn't think the wash and dry service is very expensive and i think next time i will allocate $50 to do a few bits.

Lorraine

I don't understand how they can close the 6th floor laundry. Yes it may be inconvenient, but isn't that why you choose not to book the room next to the Laundry and where some gty's get "upgraded" to a room next store? :confused3

I guess it all depends whos in that room! Maybe it was a celebrity lol!

Well I'm just back from a very successful shop at Marks and Spencer sale!!!

2 Skirts, 1 pair of trousers, 4 T shirts(one purple for Villains night), 2 jumpers with necklaces(ready for our return to Autumn weather) and 2 pairs of very nice wedge shoes(one pair is a black smart pair).

Main problem is they all fit!!!:scared1::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Oh dear.

Well done, you!!! Sounds like you got quite a haul... :thumbsup2

Good for you! I am just finishing a sparkly black and purple sheer top for my friend Susan for Villains Night, but she is only going to be on the Med part of the B2B so you might not get to meet her.....are you on B2B? Ijust found out that 3 other people I work with are going to be on the B2B! It's going to be so much fun to know so many people on the ship! Connie

No, we couldn't manage that. Perhaps another time!!

I am home. Thank you all for the good wishes. For now I am gonna try to take a nap, as I did not sleep well.

Have a great day!

Glad you are home and it is all over. Take care, rest, and recover.

I finally got up to page 30 and you are on page 81. I am getting so excited, so stressed, overwhelmed all wrapped up in one. Bought luggage at Macy's so I'm getting excited. Stressed because with trying to plan, I don't have time to eat so I'm stressed (remember, stressed spelled backwards is desserts)popcorn:::rotfl:. (I purchased a large number of Balanzo 3 in 1 digital luggage scales reg $34.95 that I am willing to sell to my DIS friends for only $19.95 plus shipping if anyone is interested. Just PM me. Bought them as gifts to give to my traveling friends for the holidays but I can get more). I just don't know how much to pack. 14 Disney Cruises later and I'm lost. Can't think. Usually I have everything planned far in advance but with my mom passing away in May and my eye surgery in June, I can't get my act together. Wait, where's my chocolate? :rotfl2:

Congratulations to everyone that has lost weight. I think I found it. ALL OF IT. :lmao: I wanted to try to lose weight prior to the cruise but honestly, I'm gaining so I'm putting off fitting on clothes. No store here has summer clothes or bathing suits left - only winter clothes out.

I have my fish extender and bought gifts only to find I thought I was on a list but I don't see me on a list.

Seems like everyone is so organized, packing, planning etc etc while I'm
DISorganized.

Anyway, 3 weeks from today, we'll be on our way to Barcelona. :thumbsup2:woohoo::dance3::yay: Can't wait to meet everyone.

Bev

I know all of us have had those days where we feel shot down, stepped on and worthless - that is me today! Question for the women - I just got a call from my doctor and was told that I have to come back in next week because they noticed a "density" on my squishy test. What does that mean and has anyone ever had it?????? Why can't the few weeks before the cruise not have any bumps. I know there are quite a few of us asking the same question - Todd, Angie and the list goes on and on.

Best wishes to you Sandi....thinking of you

That is absolutely fantastic !!! Well done to you both :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I am still the same ... despite trying a lot harder. Slim Fast diet here I come !!!

Thanks Sarah! Good luck!

AWESOME!!! You should be very proud!! Heck - I am proud for you!!!

:rotfl2: Thank you!:thumbsup2

Summer is still here:headache: Today was 111 and tomorrow is said to be 118:scared1:
I know when fall is around here: when the dried burnt leaves fall off the dead trees!:lmao:

Anniepopcorn::

Well, you should know as I type this we have torrential rain here in Reading UK, and it's freezing cold......and it's the big musical festival weekend here too :rolleyes1 DD will have a blast camping in this weather......:scared1:

Well we have just returned from school and Danny managed to pass all of his GCSEs .... 2 x A grades, 3 x B grades, 3 x C grades and 1 x D grade ( Maths ... not his strong point ). Still waiting on Art and Design result.
So we are all really proud of him as he will now be accepted at college to study Media Production. :yay:

Well done again to Danny! Brilliant results!:woohoo:

You are not alone!!! ;) I cannot stop shopping at the moment - all cruise-related of course!!! In the past week or so I've received a couple of online discount vouchers for my fave stores - well, who am I to refuse a bargain!!? SO I now have more dresses than I can possibly wear on this cruise alone (not to worry, they'll be fab for future trips too - at least that's what I told my DH!!!) AND I'm still stalking a couple of long formal-esque dresses on eBay...

mmmmmmm....shopping!:woohoo:

Well, it's been over a month and one installment of the cruise meet that I've missed since we've moved to San Miguel. A bit stressful at times but now we have most of our household goods and we can start putting the house together. We just got back from a weekend at the opera in Santa Fe, NM and it's back to reality now.

Looking forward to getting back into the swing of things here on the boards and can't wait until we head out in just a few more weeks!

Michael

Glad you're sorted now and can look forward to the cruise :goodvibes

I am way behind in reading (like page 16) as life has been moving too fast for me this weekend/week

BUT I wanted to let everyone know that the wristbands are in! I will begin packaging them and mailing them to those who requested and sorting the rest to distribute on board!

Krisann

We finally got the voucher through for the spa day that we won. I started to get quite worried that we would not be able to fit this in before the cruise. We were lucky to manage to get this booked for Sunday. We are both going to get a massage andscalp massage as well as the use of all their facilities. As the spa is at the other end of town, I decided to book an additional treatment for myself that I will pay for. I might as well make this worth my while. I will have the Ginger and Lime Salt Glow. I love this treatment and I will get this at a fraction of a cost than what the same treatment would cost on the Magic.

Corinna

Love the sound of your spa day Corinna, I've tried that treatment too and it's wonderful...enjoy!:goodvibes

Surgery went well, they are keeping me overnight for observation. Thanks for all the well wishes.

Glad it went well Becky

Have heard from DCL today on the tastings. They are coordinating the times and dates and are working out a Mojito seminar. In addition, while they can't do the drink if the day, they suggested the mixology class. I stressed that we were really interested in the Mojitos, and that we would also be interested in the mixology class. (Hope that is OK!) I will post the old DOD list - please PM me if you are NOT interested in the Mixology seminar. If I don't hear from you I will sign you up. Cost is $15.

So, we are now waiting on the beverage manager to slot us. Once that is done, I will have dates and times. I will need to divide the larger groups and will work on conflict resolution as well.

Thats it for now!

Thanks Sue!:thumbsup2

just stopping into say hello! All eight kids are home, and it's making for a wonderfully noisy, laughing (and sometimes arguing) house. I love it. Nothing better for a Mom than to have all her kids close. : ) I am happy.

Oh that is so true!:goodvibes

Had a bit of a sad day today, I had to take my elderly cat to the vet as he had gone off his food. He already was on medication for kidney failure and after discussing with the vet, we decided the kindest course of action was to put him to sleep. He was 15 years old and the sweetest boy. We will miss him. :sad1:

So sad for you Paula

Sorry I haven't got back to you about this, Yes, it's very common. I have had "fibrous" and dense results many times. I had an ultrasound on one of them a couple years ago... everything was fine. Hope yours are just a little dense! (kinda like the rest of us) Connie:grouphug::grouphug:

For those of you who enjoyed the novel Shadow of the Wind, I found a 3 hour tour based on the book.
"The Shadow of the Wind literary tour
Barcelona. The Shadow of the Wind, a novel that has captivated thousands of readers all around the world written by Carlos Ruiz Zafón, can be now walked through its pages with this amazing tour around the Gothic and the Ribera Quarter of Barcelona. offered by ICONO serveis culturals for $24 US"

I want to thank Betty and Armando (grmmybetty) for helping me decide to save a lot of $ by going out on our own to the wine country instead of taking an organized tour. We'll take a 45 minute train ride from Barcelona to Sant Sadurini D'Anoia on the 16th. I've gotten reservations at 10:00 at Freixenet cellars and a 1:00 reservation for a tour at Codorniu Cava. Bob will have time to take all the pictures he wants and walk around the town. If anyone wants info on how to book a reservation at either winery it is easily found on the web or drop me a line. val

You're welcome. You reminded me that I should make a reservation for Freixenet too instead of just walking in. We'll be doing our DIY tour on Friday the 17th. Hopefully we will return in time for the HRC Dis meeting at 5pm and we can share our experiences.

So sorry to hear about your kitty. You really did the best for him, Paula.
We had to do the same for our Simba earlier this year and are very watchful of our Eeyore with his insulin.

I thought this as well. How could they inconvenience hundreds of guests because one guest complained?? This makes no sense. :confused3:headache:

Is anyone going to Montserrat on their own via train from Barcelona on either Thursday 16 Sept or Friday 17 Sept? I really want to go, and would love to join up with another DISer. And I'm very intimidated with getting around in Barcelona and Spain in general.

CHEKCING-IN TO PART 9...FINALLY!!! :yay:
Work has been soooo busy but now I can catch up on the posts and start packing. I'm on page 10 of part 9...only 70 more to go. :lmao:

So we all know about our next vacation :goodvibes However just out of interest has anyone got any future vacations planned???

We are trying to be good and so have nothing planned, I`ve been eyeing up a Caribbean cruise for next feb, possibly a couple of months in France in 2012.
DH would like to stay at home and save the money :scared1:

Anyone else?

I have three cruises booked:
Jan. 26 Inaugural Dream cruise
Jan. 30 4-day Dream cruise
Sept. 20 5-day Wonder Repo (Canada to LA)

I'm waiting for the announcement of the 2012 schedule to book more awesome trips.

I have a week at WDW planned for my birthday the last week of October.
A week in Cabo in December.
A few days at WDW before I do the first Dream cruise in January.
DCL Alaskan cruise in August.

That's all for now!:banana::banana::banana:

Paul

Me, too!! :banana::banana:

Here is a link to all the menus from the Med cruise we came off of yesterday - just to give an idea of what might be on offer

Thank you so much. Yummy!!!!

I really need to nail down my plans for Gibraltar because it's bugging me that it's not settled yet! I want to go to the Rock without the help of DCL, but I'm not sure how I want to go about doing it. I see so many options, but what I think would be easiest for my back is a "taxi tour". I would love to go up the cable car too, though, to film. See! I'm so undecided!

I fear the taxi tour won't be an option going single. I've read where you can go into town where there's a taxi line. For those of you who have been there before, do you know if they have like mini-vans that will take multiple people up and down the Rock?

For anyone else who's still researching their options for Gibraltar, I did find this informative post on Trip-Advisor that started with a DCL 2010 EBTA cruiser!
.

I have a DCL excursion booked but I think I may cancel it because I want to explore the rock on my own. I'm going to check out Trip-Advisor. Thanks! :hippie:

And now back to catching up on the posts.....

I want to know if anyone is dressing up on prince and princess theme night or villain night.
I am still hoping to get a villian/purple theme dress for villian night

And now they all have to be in ONE!!:scared1: well, one and a half as I am packig for my DBF and does he really neeeeeed a whole suitcase?:rotfl2:
