Ok I want to throw this out there and I am willing to head it up if enough people want to do it. On the WBPC 2008 cruise we had glow in the dark/green bracelets that had the cruise info on it. These were really great to identify people who might not be wearing lanyards (no name, just an "identifier") and i tended to wear them at times I did not wear my lanyard (like at the pools, spa, exercise, etc.) and the kids loved them!

Anyway - we could do this for $1.50 each band (this is at the min of 100 ordered) or if I had 27 people who wanted to donate $10 each (or less if we have more people) we could buy enough to give everyone in the DIS group one.

It is just an idea I had as I was going through cruise stuff from past cruises - no problems if no one likes the idea - but just thought I would throw it out there.

If you are interested either way - please PM me and I will let you know if we get enough interest.

Please tell me how many you would like to get at the $1.50 and if you are willing to do the $10 for the whole group IF we get enough people to contribute.

Krisann

Ok I heard from several people and due to the logistics and some good points brought up - so I think we will go with the group contribution - so if you want to be part of this group - the cost will be around $10 (depending on how many contribute - could be a little less/little more - but not much either way)

send me a PM and I will start keeping a list of those who are contributing (I can take Paypal - cash on the ship - or an OBC paid via credit card to DCL)

We will use the master list to distrube the bands to all DISer's on the cruise and I will package them up with the names of all contributers on it as a gift to them!

Krisann, we were on the 2008 WBPC and you're right -- the wristbands were a BIG hit.

The wristbands were similar to the Lance Armstrong "LiveStrong" ones. Ours were lime green and glow in the dark. Here's a photo of a similar one:

It was a great way to identify people in our group when we weren't wearing lanyards. At Castaway Cay, it was easy to approach people, "Hi, I see you're with the DIS group. Mind watching our stuff while we go into the water?"

Shouldnt they have a beer night for the guys at the same time,???
Len and dad would love it, bring your own?

Tony would be up for this too :thumbsup2

Do we have a group lunch established for this cruise?????

There's the farewell DIS lunch on the last Sea Day :thumbsup2

One thing - the actual color of the ship is not black - it is a very dark blue. I learned this on the last cruise.

You're right. It is 87% black and 13% dark blue. Apparently this makes the ship virtually change colour depending on the time of day, the weather and the position you are viewing it from.

We've had wristbands on 3 of 4 cruises thus far, so we're always excited about them. I have to admit that our favorite was the time we ordered bands in multiple sizes, so that we all had bands that actually fit (my kids loved them.) However, I imagine the number of kids on this cruise would make that a non-cost effective option.

We're in for 3 if they're the normal/medium size, 4 if we can get both Medium and Large, and 6 if we can get kid sizes as well. Confusing enough?

My Bob would love to join a beer night while we girls Champagne. I don't think I can get to wear a boa though - at least night before the beer. Val

Kids sizes would be cool!! Krisann - I am still in, even if no kids, and still want 4. I figure Becca will want one no matter what, and maybe if it is big enough it will fit on her ankle... :lmao:

Thanks so much for this suggestion, Krisann! Woody's comment about feeling comfortable with asking for help at CC is another perfect example of its function!

The Lanyard List may be more comprehensive than the Swap Master List. That's still not going to capture everyone though because I know not everyone has chosen to get lanyards either.

If I can help with any coordination now or deliveries during the cruise, please let me know! I would be happy to help!

Thank you for the DIS lunch clarification. I somehow got in my mind that that was only for the Secret Mickey participants.

Thanks for the precise trivia about the paint! I hadn't seen that before!

It was exciting to see several from the 9/8 Med Cruise have posted in the GTY room thread that they've gotten their room assignments recently. That makes us next for the Magic!

Even better (since we're a 6 GTY) several posted that they got upgrades from Cat 6 to Cat 4 rooms. We would absolutely love the extra few feet of space if they did the same on our cruise, but are happy to be in a verandah since we'd had a Cat 10 booked at one time.

Where does the ship dock? Where's the grocery store? I heard it was near the Columbus statue......

The ship docks just off the bottom of the map - the light blue lines indicate ferry routes and they go past the dock where the Magic will be.

The Columbus statue is in the large circle very close to where those ferry routes begin but I'm not sure about a grocery store.

I love the beagle pictures!!! Too bad they can't come along too! I love dogs!

I had a lot to catch up on here since I didn't read at all yesterday! My bad!

I have a quick question. There is a chance I maybe going on an injectable drug prior to the cruise. Has anybody else cruised with needles? Where did you dispose of them? I know they can't be thrown into the regular garbage obviously. I"m not even sure how big of a needle it will be (from what I heard it's very small) but I'll have to dispose of it somehow. Thanks for any information in advance!

You will need to fill out the medical form and fax it in. Bring a copy of the form with you! They will provide a sharps box. As soon as you can get to your cabin, verify that it is there - and if not head to guest services, show them the form and they will take care of it. I haven't needed one, but I did see this info on the main board a while back. Whoever it was had no issues at all!

Kimberly pointed out that the medicine cabinet (GOOD CATCH!!) was not on the Master list. I am not sure who has the list - but if they will PM or post it I will add to the master! I am adding the come see me list as well.

Are there any other things that are missing??

Isn't it Sandi (Hoagie Pie)??? If so, she's on vacation all week.

If it is her, we obviously can't get any updates, but Gismo Sarah does have it on Page 21 of the draft Navigator. Do you have a copy of that? I had saved it to my HD, so I can email it if its needed.

OK, jewellery people. I was looking at timings and dates and I think the best option would be 19th and 21st September from 3 to 4 PM.

I am probably getting on your nerves by now, but I really like Hayley's idea of doing a Champagne Girl theme (pink) for the necklace. So there are now three options: Villain, Champagne Girl or Ship. If you have given me your preference already and would like to change your mind, please let me know.

The Champagne Girl comment also got my creative juices going in another direction. One of my suppliers does little Tinkerbell charms. So for the cell phone charm, we could either go with a pirate theme (silver skull beads and crystals in ship's colours) or with a Champagne Girl theme (Tinkerbell and pink crystals)

I have tallied up what we would need including shipping and it would come to GBP15 per person.

I will put all the info I have into a spreadsheet later and try to work out how to post a spreadsheet.

Corinna

Ok now that I have been back long enough to figure out what I missed in a week I get that the Mickey Mouse theme in the dining rooms is not happening but instead it is villain.

If this is the case I change my necklace to Villain and stick keep my bag charm.

Figures that I cleaned if off my laptop last week... If you could email to me (sue.kraft@gmail.com) I would appreciate it!!

Kimberly - I recovered it - I am good to go! Thanks though!!

Well I think my wrist size is not much bigger rofl. Great idea see if you can post a link on the first page so others may see this. Since when people are away for a bit trying to catch up is impossible so I for one check the first few pages :goodvibes

OK...I have been sewing non stop all day today.....i'm finally done wiht all our vests and all our bowties...I'm 95% done with our finding nemo cummerbunds but need to go get some more fabric for the backing. And Jason spent the day doing some wok on our fish extender gifts and lanyards stuff.

You guys have been chatty!
