Just a note about group tastings. When I've arranged them in the past, we had no say in a date or time. DCL arranges them based on room and server availability. Most were between 1-3pm on a sea day. We did have one wine tasting at 11am one day but most were in the afternoon.

Got my pink boa at Michael's today with 40% coupon! To save $$ and packing space, I bought a foam glitter "tiara" for a $1...promise not to laugh at me when you all look like princesses in your crystal tiaras and I look like a 3 year old (and a rather large one at that)!

A date yet for the champagne party?


Would have loved to join you all for jewelry class but I find working with small bits tries my patience and geezer eyes.

I don't know if any of you know Brandie Tucker-Raleigh (scarlett873) or not, but thought I would pass along this news. She's a pretty active participant on the Podcast threads and even went on the DIS Unplugged Cruise last December.

Brandie and I are friends on Facebook, and I noticed this morning that she posted "He's gone." Her husband of almost 8 years, Matthew, passed away unexpectedly during the night. I would say he was in his mid 30's. I don't know what happened, but it's just so tragic. She's been posting on FB a lot today, and they all just break your heart. Just minutes ago she posted "It looks as if he's still online...and it breaks my heart all over again to see it there, but I don't want it to go away...".

I really didn't know Brandie, but I haven't been able to get my mind off of her all day. It's even brought me to tears a couple of times. If you are familiar with Brandie on the DIS and would like to express your condolences, I know she's reading a thread on the DIS where people are expressing their sorrow and sympathy. She and Matthew were scheduled to go to Chicago this weekend for a mini DIS meets, which obviously will be a different kind gathering now.

The strength of online communities is amazing. Love and live like there's no tomorrow my friends!

Such a sad story

I've never traveled overseas. For the longest time I kept thinking "oh, we'll be fine, we arrive at 7:55 a.m. so we'll sleep "all night" on the plane. Then it was like a smack in the head...."oh, 'sleep all night' means "getting up" around 2:00 a.m. ! YIKES. I've done a little research on jet lag (i like answers!) and I have read the best thing to do is STAY UP and try to stay outside in natural light to help adjust so that's what we are going to try to do. Have a feeling it might be an early night!

Every time we fly out to the States I think I'll try and stay up late to combat the jet lag on the first night.....don't think I've ever managed it though....

When we fly to Florida, we have not sleeped in the plaine. But we always go to do something and that going just fine. Don't do a nap. If you're busy you don't feel you have skiped the night.

We get the jetlag when we go back, but then you're at home and you don't have to go and do things. And then the lazy me is coming out.

Hi everyone

Havent posted for well over a week now but have 'tried' to keep up, even with skimming the pages sometimes. Had a bad week (ill) and have spent a lot of it in bed, dreaming of the cruise and making plans !!
I missed out on a shopping trip with my friend so Carl has said he will come with me tomorrow he is a good shopper, never moans but does like to get something for himself, while we are out

It is really nice hearing all of your news, trips and holidays and often Carl says 'what are you laughing about', when I am reading this thread.

Corrina I love your Jewellery and enjoy your posts of the necklaces and fasinators (sp). I have sent you a pm and I would love to do a jewellery class.

A few things that I can remember :
On the med cruise we were on the 10 am WDW airport shuttle and we did do a mini tour of the city. It took us round to at least 10 different Tourist sites. It was very good but you were not allowed to leave the coach.

Two people for our dis meet thread, had their purses/wallets stolen in Barcelona, one was by the 'Magic fountain'

As long as its not just me! We're looking at maybe booking an EasyJet flight from Bristol just in case! Dan even looked at driving down!

Just need to add to any worried people that it is BAA which run some of the major airports that are threatening strike action, not BA, though they could follow suit anyway, who knows?

These airports are London Heathrow, London Stansted, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Southampton. Our flights to Barcelona goes from Heathrow!!!

Ah right! Yes just reread what I read! BAA are on about striking in September/October and are balloting to strike (which closes on the 12th August)

I may go for Easyjet as a back up from Bristol as not a BAA airport

Anyone know whether you can claim back for a flight if you choose not to take it? Is there a cancellation period?

OK now I'm really worried........no idea where else we'd fly from.......


Oh and as to cancellations, when dd had to cancel her BA flight a couple of months back all she got back was the taxes (lost a stack of money) I think she cancelled it a few weeks before the flight.

Just to confirm, you will be making three items each that you will take home: a cellphone charm, a necklace and either a keychain or bag charm. I will be looking into getting materials over the weekend. So I need to know two things. Would you rather make a bag charm or a keychain? For the necklace, would you rather go with the colours of the ship or the Villain's theme?

I got my EBTA scrapbook done and wanted to share the link with anyone who might want to take a look! This is a public link on facebook so everyone can see it! I did not put my pictures of Mederia in there as I will put it in the scrapbook of this Cruise because we did not do an excursion. My next step is to finish setting up the book for this cruise so all I have to do is plop my pictures in EACH night on the cruise and have a finished product when I get home!

To book a private tasting with DCL we need cabin assignments or ressie number if your are a GTY status. This is becasue all of our tastings are PRIVATE and non refundable. I am updating the lists to include cabin number for those that are on my other lists, or have one in roll call. If you don't have a cabin number listed, can you please PM me your cabin or ressie number so I can get it all organized. (new lists will be posted today)

Also - what about time of day for tasting? Does 4pm work for everyone? Is there a better time? I am hoping to book something each day (maybe not the day of ladies tea as that could be Champaign Girl day as well?) so if you have an opinion please let me know!

My Dear Sue, you don't have to stress about a tiara and boa.....I am bringing extras! Nobody will be without! Just have a pink shirt to wear for the photo....I'll have shutters come down and take a group photo.

Thanks for sharing about the HOHO buses. My questions, to those who have been to Barcelona, would you prefer the HOHO buses or getting a Barcelona card (the card gives you free access to all city transport and suburban trains)??

I'm kinda new to scrapbooking, never done it digitally. I am so impressed! What do you do with "memorabilia" when you do it digitally?

Actually when you do it digitally you can have them printed in a book that is bound or page by page and put into a traditional scrapbook - then you can mix the memeralbilia with the digital. This trip was so big I am still trying to figure out exactly what I am going to do in the end!

Liquid wise were using the onboard toiletries anyway so its just things like suncream and after sun that I need to worry about lol! Maybe I can wear all the heavy clothes onboard?

I am actually thinking of just buying some suntan lotion on board - if I even spend time in the sun - I will bring a small bottle but more than that I will buy if needed. The bottle will be enough for us all on CC and if we use it up before then, I will buy it there

yes they are Creative Memories - it is done with the new disney digital packs that came out this month! I have the old ones too but like this pack better.

I know that we have several digital scrappers on the thread, so what do you all think about doing some 12x12 or 5x7 (for a brag book album) quick pages, fairly plain so that each person could embellish to taste, to share with our group? We would definitely give the kit name and designer credit on the page and in the file name.

Possible pages; each port, ship activities, dinning, rooms, DIS activities, etc. We could do two page types for each page subject; ie. single photo/multi photo or 12x12 and 5x7.

Anyone interested?

OK - I agree - we MUST get a group photo taken. We will have to take over the stairs - both sides as there are so many of us - 135 families are registered on roll call - or there were as of a day ago, it may have gon up...

You will need to teach me all about getting pages printed but not bound and all that - just in case...

Can you still get the old set or are they gone forever? And am I missing out on anything? HA HA! You should see what I have planned already - I am starting with leaving the house, piling into the limo, meeting people at the airport, you name it! I am at 60 pages and have more to add!! I am not sure that I will print them all, but I want to make sure that I can capture it all and then go from there... I may have most of it done while on board, but it will take lots of to get it just right to print...

I second what you have said about the digital page to share. How can you do it? I am more than willing to share a layout, or ideas... Maybe everyone doing digital can do an idea exchange one afternoon? I will offer up our cabin and balcony for that... But someone else has to pick a date and time and keep the list! I keep bringing cases up one by one... I am at 2 right now - one fully packed with swap stuff and some clothing, the other full of clothing for Rebecca and myself. Poor Glenn and Stephen may have to layer for the flight over!!

I am bringing 3 suites. Last year I did 2 and when another woman showed up at the Mickey pool in the same one I was wearing I had to go change... She sat right next to me and stared at me - it was weird... She didn't even talk... I tried to laugh it off, but decided she wasn't very friendly...
