Hi everyone :)

Havent posted for well over a week now but have 'tried' to keep up, even with skimming the pages sometimes. Had a bad week (ill) and have spent a lot of it in bed, dreaming of the cruise and making plans !! :cool1:.
I missed out on a shopping trip with my friend  so Carl has said he will come with me tomorrow :lovestruc, he is a good shopper, never moans but does like to get something for himself, while we are out :thumbsup2.

It is really nice hearing all of your news, trips and holidays and often Carl says 'what are you laughing about', when I am reading this thread. :rotfl:

Corrina I love your Jewellery and enjoy your posts of the necklaces and fasinators (sp). I have sent you a pm and I would love to do a jewellery class.

A few things that I can remember :
On the med cruise we were on the 10 am WDW airport shuttle and we did do a mini tour of the city. It took us round to at least 10 different Tourist sites. It was very good but you were not allowed to leave the coach.

Two people for our dis meet thread, had their purses/wallets stolen in Barcelona, one was by the 'Magic fountain'.

Sarah (Gismo) Well done on your exam results, your results were sooo good :thumbsup2

Sarah (Tottally angelic) I sent you a pm about late dining ( I hope). I would love the rotation that sees us in Lumineries on Formal night :).

Sorry If I have missed out anything/anyone, I will have to keep up and answer with multi quotes as I go.

Wishing you all a great weekend. Big Hugs to anyone who needs it :hug:

8 WEEKS TODAY WE WILL BE BOARDING THE MAGIC
Get well soon.
Just need to add to any worried people that it is BAA which run some of the major airports that are threatening strike action, not BA, though they could follow suit anyway, who knows?

These airports are London Heathrow, London Stansted, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Southampton. Our flights to Barcelona goes from Heathrow!!!
So annoying.
Ah right! Yes just reread what I read! BAA are on about striking in September/October and are balloting to strike (which closes on the 12th August)

I may go for Easyjet as a back up from Bristol as not a BAA airport

Anyone know whether you can claim back for a flight if you choose not to take it? Is there a cancellation period?

Sorry, I doubt it, I was watching a news article the other day and they were saying about how diff airlines make it to get any money back.

I don't know if any of you know Brandie Tucker-Raleigh (scarlett873) or not, but thought I would pass along this news. She's a pretty active participant on the Podcast threads and even went on the DIS Unplugged Cruise last December.

Brandie and I are friends on Facebook, and I noticed this morning that she posted "He's gone." Her husband of almost 8 years, Matthew, passed away unexpectedly during the night. I would say he was in his mid 30's. I don't know what happened, but it's just so tragic. She's been posting on FB a lot today, and they all just break your heart. Just minutes ago she posted "It looks as if he's still online...and it breaks my heart all over again to see it there, but I don't want it to go away...". :sad1:

I really didn't know Brandie, but I haven't been able to get my mind off of her all day. It's even brought me to tears a couple of times. If you are familiar with Brandie on the DIS and would like to express your condolences, I know she's reading a thread on the DIS where people are expressing their sorrow and sympathy. She and Matthew were scheduled to go to Chicago this weekend for a mini DIS meets, which obviously will be a different kind gathering now.

The strength of online communities is amazing. Love and live like there's no tomorrow my friends! :grouphug:

I don't think I have ever come across her, but my heart goes out to her.

I see another list here!! :lmao:

Yes, the list is in the making. I have already blocked a space on the new thread to post it and other information

Finally made it to Melbourne (Australia) went from 45C to 12C but at least in the cold you can just put more clothes on.in the heat, ESP. In an Islamic country, there is a limit to how many clothes you can take off!

Also got an Ipad - very nice toy.

Love all of the jewellery pictures and Corrina if you do a class I would be very interested.

Actually, some of the most outrageous clothes (or should I say lack of clothes) I have seen in Dubai, both on Sheikh Zayed Road and down by the marina. It always puzzles me how people can go to a different country with no respect for the local culture whatsoever. I am a firm believer in "When in Rome, do as the Romans do".

I have added you to the list for the jewellery workshop.

Is it the same as far as boarding like in Orlando....do they keep you out of the stateroom until 1:30? We kind of figure that if we get on the ship early maybe we can get a quick nap.....we are flying out of JFK at 5:40 p.m. on Friday.....flying through the night and arriving at 8 in the morning as I stated...so even if we sleep on the plane it really will not be good sleep....
Tom

When we were on the first Med cruise out of Barcelona, we could not get to our stateroom until 1:30 even though the boarding time was earlier than at Port Canaveral.

That sounds like fun  .

Does that mean you are in?

On one cruise.....I think it was the first TA I was on, I have FE's to everyone on the list.....and I am sure it was over 125. I just sorted them by deck and room number and delivered a few a time....

Yes, it was a GREAT way to get to know the ship AND I enjoyed seeing all the creative magnets people had decorated their doors with.

Our very first cruise was the 5 night special cruise on the Magic in 2008. We had over 400 DISers on that cruise. This would have been a challenge even with a year or so to plan. I had wanted to go on a Disney cruise ever since our honeymoon in 1998, but DH was not having any of it. I finally convinced him with the help of our guide when we bought into DVC in November 2007. We had our heart set on the 5 night cruise, but when we called them while we were still in Florida, this was fully booked. So in the end we settled on a 4 night cruise on the Wonder that set sail the day after the cruise we really wanted came back. In May we got a huge bonus at work. Around that time, I read on the main cruise board that somebody was considering booking the 5 night cruise. I went straight to the DCL website and sure enough, it was available. So I decided to spend some of my bonus money on booking this as well and we would do both cruises. So that gave me just over 3 months. Talk about a challenge.

I am in awe! I have a necklace or two of DD's that I'd purchased on etsy, and ended up breaking the elastic thread they are strung on. These were her "cruise" necklaces, and I broke one on our last cruise (and she hasn't let me forget it.) If you have any hints on how to fix or restring on clear elastic thread, send them my way!

The best advise that I can give you is to not use elastic. This goes brittle over time and will swap. When I started out making jewellery, I used elastic, but soon came up against its limitations. Nowadays, I exclusively use Beadalon (nylon-coated, multi-stranded wire). It is a little bit harder to work with as it cannot just be knotted, but it is virtually unbreakable. If you want to send me the necklaces, I will restring them for you. PM me if you are interested.

Thanks for pointing that out!!! I did not notice that- I never call it by that so it did not click. But still $65 a bottle is too much for me - will either take some from here or look in europe - it is an european wine - somebody has to have it over there!

That does not necessary follow. Some things are purely produced for the export market. One of my favourite perfumes is Aquolina Pink Sugar. Aquolina is an Italian company yet you cannot find their perfumes in Europe. I even tried in Italy and it was nowhere to be found.

OK people I need some dates for the Navigator as we are getting close to August.

Champagne Girls -> Has a date been decided for a meeting?? Or is this being combined with the ladies afternoon tea??

Yoga -> Is this going to be daily?? When/at what time are we thinking??

Jewellery Making Class -> Corinna, any ideas on times/dates etc?

In August I want to release a fairly complete Navigator with only minor room changes then occuring between the two so if people can let me know that would be great

I will look into this at some stage over the weekend and will let you know by the end of tomorrow.

Me too!!!

I have added you to the list for the jewellery workshop

Love the fascinator ... was that from Ebay? Your jewellery is beautiful. I love the colours. Please add me to the jewellery class list ( I have sent a PM ). I will really look forward to it.

No, the fascinator came from Claire's. I had to catch the train to work yesterday and had 45 minutes to kill. I was really headed to Monsoon to check out the sale, but Claire's is right next door and I decided to have a look. I am glad that I did. I added you to the list for the jewellery workshop.

Corrina I love your Jewellery and enjoy your posts of the necklaces and fasinators (sp). I have sent you a pm and I would love to do a jewellery class.

I have added you to the list.

Im with you on this one! I think we would loose around £80 if we just go ahead and book with EasyJet and see what happens. I was counting on 69kg of luggage between us though and not we are going to have to drop to around the 43kg mark! Handluggage has no weight limit mind so maybe we can put 20kg in hand luggage :rotfl2:

Dans Mum will have to drive us if we go from Bristol. We've booked the airport bus to Heathrow and from Gatwich back anyway so we will loose a bit on this. IT was only £10 more to get a return than a single though so not worried about that as still need the return leg. Oh and we may loose £25 on the airport lounge but I've asked if there is anyway they can change it to the Bristol one as it is the same company that run both!

I think you can put as much as you can in the hand baggage, as long as you can lift it into the overhead lockers yourself. Unfortunately it can't be all the heavy toiletries though which would have been ideal. Shoes, trousers, jumpers.

We have transport booked from Barcelona airport to the hotel with someone else, and of course would still pay that(Chasity, don't worry there). But in the grand scheme of things it would ease the stress right now to have the option open.

Looking at it we could get the flight the same date! I think I'm just going to book it and be done with it!

Sounds a good idea. Would you hold on to both reservations for a while or just go with Easyjet?

Right, here is the list of participants for the jewellery workshop so far:

Buckeye Gal
MagicMe
NoWorriesMate
TotallyAngelic
Granmaz
Ebony
LittleDisneyLovers

Ideally I do not want more than 10 people so that leaves 2 more spaces. Just to confirm, you will be making three items each that you will take home: a cellphone charm, a necklace and either a keychain or bag charm. I will be looking into getting materials over the weekend. So I need to know two things. Would you rather make a bag charm or a keychain? For the necklace, would you rather go with the colours of the ship or the Villain's theme?

Corinna

I got my EBTA scrapbook done and wanted to share the link with anyone who might want to take a look! This is a public link on facebook so everyone can see it! I did not put my pictures of Mederia in there as I will put it in the scrapbook of this Cruise because we did not do an excursion. My next step is to finish setting up the book for this cruise so all I have to do is plop my pictures in EACH night on the cruise and have a finished product when I get home!

Get well soon.

I'm trying to find out off BA as I think I can claim through them but not sure! I know I can't through EasyJet though!

I don't know lol! Dan just asked that exact same question! I think we may just go for Easyjet and be done with it!

Thanks for this Corinna. Possibly a bag charm would be my choice as my key ring gets quite battered, but I would go happily with the majority choice. Necklace I'm not sure. By ship colours do you mean red, black and white(or clear), and villains purple and something? Again, I don't think I have a preference. I'm useless these days making decisions!!:rotfl2:

I just had a quick look and this is gorgeous.

Corinna

OK I can get £35 back off BA for our flight that was £115! So I guess either way we loose £80 whether we go BA or Easyjet if we book the standby flight!

Holy cow you have been busy and chatty over the past 24 hours!!! I am trying to keep up, but wow its hard! I have to admitt that I am skimming more and more these days, and then something catches my eye and I have to back track...

Ok, lets see what I really read...

Make/bring whatever you want. I think the "embellishment" comment was established only to make it clear that the expectation was that you do not have to bring stuff to make a full page.
...
It's exciting, isn't it?!!! I'm going to be so lost with no cruise to-do's come October.

Thanks for the reassurance! Although I think that with all the odds and ends I am bringing, if you wanted to you could create a page or 6... I hope that I don't hit the luggage weight wall...

Kimberly - book your next cruise before you get off and you can keep on planning!!:banana:

Well - picked up two pink boas yesterday!! :cool1:

One for me and one for my DIL! Used a 50% off coupon at AC Moore so less than $5!! :thumbsup2

It's all slowing coming together!

WAH! I am still looking, and not finding. I am officially giving up! Too much other stuff to do... So, I will be the Champaign girl with the non pink tiara and no boa... :confused3 Hope thats ok... :confused3

Tell me about it! I gained over 2 pounds this week (and didn't eat any differently than what I eat when I've lost weight) and my poor sister gained 4.6 pounds in 5 days! Same thing with her - she ate no differently than the week before. It stinks and it's very discouraging. She left on a Royal Carribean Cruise yesterday so the gain wasn't the best way to start off vacation...did I mention that the week before she had lost 3 pounds. :confused3

last year I was bummed because I had been loosing a bit weekly before the cruise, but thet last week before the cruise I put on 5 lbs. Everything still fit, but still... Well, I came back from the cruise and thanks to all the walking (no elevators most of the time, walking in every port, a few laps, etc) and water that i was always fdrinking, I came back and was 3 lbs lower than 2 weeks before the trip - so an 8 lb loss. I was thinking about packing my pedometer this trip so I could compare daily step rates... I do about 10,000 steps a day here on a busy work day (I don't email my staff - I walk and see them...)

Sarah you are a star for tracking all of this! I am expecting Dorothy from DCL to be back with me in ealry August for setting dates for the tastings. Not sure if you wnat those for the navigator or not... I will be posting them as soon as we have them. I am hoping to do something on each sea day...

It will be so much fun at the Praktik Rambla with so many staying there.

We can have a pre meet meet in the lobby! I emailed them in the hopes that one of the parger rooms had opened up, but no joy. So then I asked them to put a note in our ressie that we required our 2 rooms to be right next door from eachother - or directly across the hall... They replied that they would try... So, be warned - if you are next to one of our rooms and the other is way down the hall, we may beg for a room swap... I really hope that they can work it out so I don't have to...

Disney, are you listening? We need a Disney store in Australia!!!!!!! :upsidedow
...
Oh, I don't envy you, Packing is not fun....unless it's for a cruise! It sounds like you've got lots of family and friends to help, that always makes it a little more enjoyable. ;)
...
Fingers crossed for cabin numbers soon!!

Wow - no Disney store in AU? I guess we are spoiled that every mall near us has one...

I hate to pack - even for the cruise... It is too hard to make decisions of what goes in and what doesn't...

I'll cross my finger for you all as well... I hated being GY last year. Last years cruise was a surprise, and at 4 weeks out nothing. So, I ducked into our bedroom closet and called them. A the end of the call I was in tears... I just wanted information and the person on the phone was so rude... I ended up calling back, explained it all to a supervisor who put me on hold and told me that the cat 6 cabins were due to be assigned the following day and that docs wold be in the mail by the end of the week. We got them later that week, and all was well - but man the stress...

You can pay the driver at any of the stops. You do not have to purchase the tickets on line. We did this in 2007, but I can't remeber if they took credit cards or cash.

THANKS for this tidbit! I was going to buy online as it is a bit less $$ - but not if I have to take a cab to a certain spot, and then spend time doing an exchange of docs...

We did decide that we would do the van from BCN to the hotel, leave the luggage and re confirm that we need 2 rooms together, and then do the HOHO so we can set our own pace based on the kids. While we hope to stay awake until evening (8pm or so), I am not sure that the kids will both be able to. So, withthe HOHO we can pick and choose and make notes for Friday...

Sorry, I could post with out a few beagle pics.

Lynne, LOVE the pics! What gorgeous terrain. The beagles are adorable as always! I so miss having a doggie!!

I think that is it... Which means I will probably figure out what I missed about 10 minutes after I post this... Happy weekend everyone!!

Yes I am!!! I so wish these folk would realise that at least they have jobs!

I hope this works out for all of you. Surely you needed something else to worry about :sad2: .

Sorry you haven't been good this week Jan. Hopefully now you can catch up!!!! John will go with me shopping, but I prefer to choose things for myself without him!!!:rolleyes1 Now, HE is a nightmare to buy for. Well, i can buy for him, but he hates shopping for himself - unless it is techy stuff etc!;) He has to be in the mood, and then once he has chosen, or tried on a couple of things, that is it. No more.:confused3 Very odd.:rotfl2:

Wayne is very much the same, but I couldn't get him to try stuff on, no way. I swear, if it wasn't for me, he'd be walking around in his birthday suit :rotfl: . (Yes, I even buy his shoes.) The only clothing he's ever bought would be the suits he used to wear to work. Since then they've gotten much more casual, so it's Docker's and such.

I am a firm believer in "When in Rome, do as the Romans do".

I agree w/that until it means topless on the beach :scared1: . :rotfl:

Does that mean you are in?

Yes, please. Sorry I wasn't clear.

I think a bag charm would be cute, but I'll be happy w/whatever majority says. Same w/the colors. Thanks for doing this, Corinna; it sounds like a lot of fun.

Not that much of a star as forgot about the tastings! LOL Yes this would be helpful!

Calling all tasting organizers!!!
If you have a tasting and you want me to get that one on the list with DCL please PM me. I will be scheduling with them in early August.

Calling all tasters!!!
To book a private tasting with DCL we need cabin assignments or ressie number if your are a GTY status. This is becasue all of our tastings are PRIVATE and non refundable. I am updating the lists to include cabin number for those that are on my other lists, or have one in roll call. If you don't have a cabin number listed, can you please PM me your cabin or ressie number so I can get it all organized. (new lists will be posted today)

Also - what about time of day for tasting? Does 4pm work for everyone? Is there a better time? I am hoping to book something each day (maybe not the day of ladies tea as that could be Champaign Girl day as well?) so if you have an opinion please let me know!
