It will be so much fun at the Praktik Rambla with so many staying there.

Are you cutting it again before the cruise ... my next hair appointment will be for the day before we fly :woohoo::woohoo:
Mines is getting done the week before.
OK.....I'm a little confused.....I guess I hadn't been paying close enough attention....but some people are in multiple fish extender groups and others are in only one (like myself)-----Did people request to be in multiple groups? Are we supposed to be in only one or more than one? And then if you are in only that one then you are only making FE gifts for the cabins that are actually in the list that you are in, right?

Sorry if I sound completely stupid and out of the loop....but I saw people posting about giving to multiple FE groups and I paniced. Jason and I have already started making our FE gifts. Because we have so much room and weight in our luggage being taken up by the lanyards and name badges, we are making only a PER CABIN fish extender gift (rather than per person) and we are only making 13----for the other 13 people on the Kiwi list....but I don't want to have accidentally done it wrong and find that we get aboard and we're not giving gifts to people that are supposed to be getting them from us!!
lol, sorry to laugh, but did you breath while typing all that?
You make me smile.
Thats me exercise for the day ...plus no elevators except on Formal and Pirate night ...plus Sea Days 4 to 5 miles on deck 4 before breakfast :banana:

pirate:
I always loose count, It really bugs, not like Ive anything else to mind:dance3:
Free shipping on Spanx swim suits
Noel, are you trying to kill me,lol, spanx swimwear, I told you, I will drown,
Well if you decide to do it, I would gladly pay for supplies to make something magical with you!

That reminds me that I neglected to mention that another thing I saw when I was at Target last night were several new Silly Bandz-type bracelets that I haven't yet seen. The generic shapes were made by an off-brand, plus they had some made by Collect-A-Bands that included licensed characters sets like Shrek and Looney Tunes. Kroger grocery stores also had baskets full of Silly Bandz yesterday, too. So likely all Kroger companies (Dillons, King Soopers, Fry's, Ralph's, City Market, etc.)have them across the USA.
I wish we had target in the uk.

There is always Southwest....

Do they do Sctland,lol.
Pretty bored tonight, poor old Mark has been at work for nearly 15 hours today so far and is still there.....:rolleyes1No idea what time he'll get in.....I hate to think So here I am, trying to decide what to do with myself...must find something cruise related to do!

:
hope all is well now and he doesnt have to work the weekend.

Riiight!

Btw. I ordered THE dress. So excited.

Acutally I am a little superstitious. So, this is pretty early for me getting into the preparation mode. But you guys are so fun to read with planning and stuff.
So I ordered my dress. *woohoo* But delivery takes 4 (!!) weeks.
Did you go for black?
Hi

Can someone let me know what time you are able to get on the ship from on the 18 Sept

Thanks

David
GOOD Q !!

I don't know if any of you know Brandie Tucker-Raleigh (scarlett873) or not, but thought I would pass along this news. She's a pretty active participant on the Podcast threads and even went on the DIS Unplugged Cruise last December.

Brandie and I are friends on Facebook, and I noticed this morning that she posted "He's gone." Her husband of almost 8 years, Matthew, passed away unexpectedly during the night. I would say he was in his mid 30's. I don't know what happened, but it's just so tragic. She's been posting on FB a lot today, and they all just break your heart. Just minutes ago she posted "It looks as if he's still online...and it breaks my heart all over again to see it there, but I don't want it to go away...".

I really didn't know Brandie, but I haven't been able to get my mind off of her all day. It's even brought me to tears a couple of times. If you are familiar with Brandie on the DIS and would like to express your condolences, I know she's reading a thread on the DIS where people are expressing their sorrow and sympathy. She and Matthew were scheduled to go to Chicago this weekend for a mini DIS meets, which obviously will be a different kind gathering now.

The strength of online communities is amazing. Love and live like there's no tomorrow my friends! :
What a shame, thats horrible.
Finally made it to Melbourne (Australia) went from 45C to 12C but at least in the cold you can just put more clothes on.in the heat, ESP. In an Islamic country, there is a limit to how many clothes you can take off!

Also got an Ipad - very nice toy.

Love all of the jewellery pictures and Corrina if you do a class I would be very interested.
Play nicely now,lol

Tom, to reduce the effects of jet lag, you might want to skip the nap.

Woody
No napping!! thats the rule, I think I do jet lag well because of me doing night shift for 10 years, you have to tough it out for the first few days when you swap back to days.
Forgot to mention: last night DH and I went to see Level 42 live. What a great show! Those guys are fabulous musicians and I hope they make it to our area again some day.
Gosh, level 42, I forgot about them.
OK people I need some dates for the Navigator as we are getting close to August.

Champagne Girls -> Has a date been decided for a meeting?? Or is this being combined with the ladies afternoon tea??

Yoga -> Is this going to be daily?? When/at what time are we thinking??

Jewellery Making Class -> Corinna, any ideas on times/dates etc?

In August I want to release a fairly complete Navigator with only minor room changes then occuring between the two so if people can let me know that would be great

Yeah, Richard, when we doing the yoga?

Oh My, I am so behind again! Lucky DH is watching the footy so I have lots of catch-up time......

LOL - You better join us!! AND YOU NEED TO SEND A PICTURE TOO YOUNG LADY!

We have decided to join you on the fancy smancy cruise. I did send a photo ages ago, but it was to your personal e-mail address not the roll call one, I will send it again.

Why don't you celebrate your birthday on Sept 24th this year?

Good idea! My mum used to have parties for me on Nov 24 until I was about 8. After that I missed out, BooHoo for me, I'll just go and have a little pity party by myself. :lmao:

Well the rain finally stopped and Tony and I have just been for a walk along the sea front. We stopped off at the stream to feed our local ducks and they went crazy for the full loaf of bread we were giving them ... about 50 or more ducks turned up. They were as excited as I am planning for this cruise ... and all Tony and I talked about on our walk was " when we are on the cruise we will ....... " type conversations. I'm beginning to think we have one track minds !!!

I used to love feeding the ducks our old bread off our pontoon, but since we got Holly I can't do it anymore. We don't know why but she doesn't like ducks, as soon as she sees them she jumps off the pontoon and chases them. :confused3

I work with an awesome team, who do awesome work (hopefully the video will work).

Am really looking forward to reading this when I have a spare second.....I have no time at the moment, I am surprised my husband hasn't divorced me due to the state of my feet, I really need a pedicure! :rotfl:

We must be paying for their WONDERFUL internet site.

Yes Noel, maybe we should volunteer $2 extra, I think the website needs some help!! :sad2:

It will be so much fun at the Praktik Rambla with so many staying there.

LOL well youll definately be noticed I think! Theres so many DISers there!

I checked the Renaissance today to see if the price had dropped and for the first time ever it said "no rooms" how odd!

Oh, BA people, anyone getting worried about more strikes?

Hi everyone :)

Havent posted for well over a week now but have 'tried' to keep up, even with skimming the pages sometimes. Had a bad week (ill) and have spent a lot of it in bed, dreaming of the cruise and making plans !! :cool1:.
I missed out on a shopping trip with my friend  so Carl has said he will come with me tomorrow :lovestruc, he is a good shopper, never moans but does like to get something for himself, while we are out :thumbsup2.

It is really nice hearing all of your news, trips and holidays and often Carl says 'what are you laughing about', when I am reading this thread. :rotfl:

Corrina I love your Jewellery and enjoy your posts of the necklaces and fasinators (sp). I have sent you a pm and I would love to do a jewellery class.

A few things that I can remember :
On the med cruise we were on the 10 am WDW airport shuttle and we did do a mini tour of the city. It took us round to at least 10 different Tourist sites. It was very good but you were not allowed to leave the coach.

Two people for our dis meet thread, had their purses/wallets stolen in Barcelona, one was by the 'Magic fountain'.

Sarah (Gismo) Well done on your exam results, your results were sooo good :thumbsup2

Sarah (Tottally angelic) I sent you a pm about late dining ( I hope). I would love the rotation that sees us in Lumineries on Formal night :).

Sorry If I have missed out anything/anyone, I will have to keep up and answer with multi quotes as I go.

Wishing you all a great weekend. Big Hugs to anyone who needs it :hug:

8 WEEKS TODAY WE WILL BE BOARDING THE MAGIC

Yes I am!!! I so wish these folk would realise that at least they have jobs!

8 WEEKS TODAY WE WILL BE BOARDING THE MAGIC

Sorry you haven't been good this week Jan. Hopefully now you can catch up!!!! John will go with me shopping, but I prefer to choose things for myself without him!!!:rolleyes1 Now, HE is a nightmare to buy for. Well, i can buy for him, but he hates shopping for himself - unless it is techy stuff etc!;) He has to be in the mood, and then once he has chosen, or tried on a couple of things, that is it. No more.:confused3 Very odd.:rotfl2:

I hope you get some very nice things.

Yes I am!!! I so wish these folk would realise that at least they have jobs!

As long as its not just me! We're looking at maybe booking an EasyJet flight from Bristol just in case! Dan even looked at driving down!

We looked at all the options before when the ash cloud posed a threat, and almost booked the train just in case, but didn't once the volcano subsided.

Can't get all my clothes on Easyjet allowances though.:lmao::sad1::rotfl2:

Just need to add to any worried people that it is BAA which run some of the major airports that are threatening strike action, not BA, though they could follow suit anyway, who knows?

These airports are London Heathrow, London Stansted, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Southampton. Our flights to Barcelona goes from Heathrow!!!

Ah right! Yes just reread what I read! BAA are on about striking in September/October and are balloting to strike (which closes on the 12th August)

I may go for Easyjet as a back up from Bristol as not a BAA airport

Anyone know whether you can claim back for a flight if you choose not to take it? Is there a cancellation period?

John bought me a new HP Pavilion DM3-1035dx refurbished for under $400. I just want something really light to take on the cruise and it is just the ticket!!
:yay:What a good husband, I see you have him trained well Noel! :rotfl2:

It really does not matter. My fitness levels are a lot higher than they were a year or even 6 months ago, but there is no way I can compete with other people. You just work at your own pace. As long as it stretches and challenges you and you get a good work out, it is all good.

Sounds great, I have hormone issues and put on weight so easily, I'm sure my butt gets bigger when I walk past Krispy Kreme and breath in! So, I will have to spend some time in the gym, but I need a class or trainer to push me, I'm lazy, If I go myself I won't do anything....:rolleyes1

You should do. It is a lot of fun and very relaxing. It also takes care of presents every now and again. If you do decide to go ahead and need some hints and advice to get started, feel free to give me a holler.

Thanks, I probably won't have time before the cruise, But would love to have a go before Christmas. :thumbsup2

Definitely just the free once. All other drinks are very potent. I am already looking forward to the Margaritas at Cove Cafe. I am a bit of a Margarita Connoisseur and the Margaritas there are among the best I have tasted.

Mmmm, I will have to try a margarita and a pina colada, Mmmmm.....

I did my first yoga class about 3 or 4 weeks ago and had a fantastic time. I did not feel any pain at the time, but I was definitely sore for a couple of days after.

I don't mind that pain, at least you know you did something! I laugh when my trainer says "where are you sore" and I say "I'm not sure, I think it's the muscles where my butt is suppose to be..." :rotfl2:

Well, my back ordered purple crystals arrived today and the necklace for Villains night is also complete. I am really pleased with the result. I have also worked out the earring design and hopefully the components that I need for this will arrive tomorrow. Once the whole set is finished, I take another photo and post it here.
Looking forward to seeing the complete set photo's!

Corinna

We went to the Disney Store today. My dd is so excited to wear all her new flip flops on the cruise. They were like $1.50 with the extra 20% off today. What a deal! I think she has every color now. Plus, lots of swimsuits and stuff on sale. So, if anyone has one close to them it's a great time to shop!!

Disney, are you listening? We need a Disney store in Australia!!!!!!! :upsidedow

With me!:banana::flower3:

Pj

I wouldn't steal your birthday Penny, I know what it feels like...Santa has been doing it to me for years! :rotfl:

Update on the lost hearing aid. No, the theme park didn't find it. But our audiologist has managed to find a pair of brand new hearing aids that were overstocks and a few models behind the current release so they can't be sold as new. She is giving them to us at no cost! :cool1: We just need to purchase new ear molds, which is the part that actually goes in the ear. And she referred us to a state program that gave us a free adapter that allows DS to listen to his ipod through the hearing aids. No more switching between the two which is what led to him losing it in the first place. He had taken his ipod off and didn't fully put the hearing aid back on, then when he realized it in the middle of the ride, he reached up to adjust it and knocked it off.

Great news, I bet the iPod adapter will be great, except he'll never hear you again as the music will be playing permanently! :goodvibes

Thank goodness for friends and family. I spent the day with my 2 BFF and DD and DGD packing. How do we ever accumulate so much stuff? My living room is filled with boxes - many of them from the local liquor store. What a first impression I am going to make on my new neighbours lol. The problem with doing the packing so far in advance is having to live with the boxes. But I have to get this done so I can spend time doing important stuff like cruise planning.:yay: I also got a great surprise today. I got a package from ADL and received a great backpack. Life is good. Trudy

Oh, I don't envy you, Packing is not fun....unless it's for a cruise! It sounds like you've got lots of family and friends to help, that always makes it a little more enjoyable. ;)

What a week. I have done two telephone media interviews on Jackie (the person in the link I posted). I got out of the TV interview you guys saw by taking my PT with me to the interview. Today we had another TV interview with another TV station so I took both my PT and OT with me. Guess who they interviewed? ME! :scared1: Those two just stood back and even when I tried to get them in the interview they just smiled. I hope it comes out okay. You feel like a babbling fool talking to the camera.

Anyway, I am hoping her story will make a difference...even if it is for one person. Our hopes are that people will see that anything is possible and that there are services out there that can help you get some quality of life.

Someone asked what I do. I am in rehab. I manage a Day Rehab program. Our patients come 5 days a week for about 6 hours a day. We treat a lot of stroke patients, spinal cord, brain injury, MS, amputees and are now taking LVAD http://www.hearthope.com/?gclid=CJPuopvEgKMCFSH5iAod1yR-bg patients. I am a licensed individual, family and group therapist. My team consists of Physical Therapists (PT), Occupational Therapist (OT), Speech Language Pathologist (SLP), a Registered Nurse (RN) a rehab aide and a operations coordinator.

It is a rewarding field and as you could see from the link I posted earlier. I am always humbled by their journey. When they come to us in a wheel chair and can barely sit let alone take care of themselves to when they leave walking or independent in their wheel chair. Sadly, the mean age of the patients is 42. Our youngest stroke patient was 12.

I will post the link when the new interview is aired.

What a wonderful and fulfilling job you have. You can go to bed every night knowing you really are making a positive difference on the world. Good Onya! :thumbsup2

Speaking of spanx - you know they do have spanx bathing suits!!

Sunday we are going to Olympic Park to take some ski lessons, Monday is the taffy museum and Tuesday is the snorkeling in the cave. Here is the link: http://www.homesteadresort.com/crater
The taffy museum is the one that was on the Food Network last week after the Next Food Network Star. It looked fantastic! Margarita taffys!! Thursday and Friday we are relaxing and Wednesday are the outlets. Have a wonderful week!! Hopefully when I return, I will have my cabin number!

Spanx bathing suits aren't gonna do anything for me, I need a birka bathing suit!

OMG, Taffy is the best candy, It's up there with the little strawberry bon bon ball thingys from the UK. Thank goodness we can't get Taffy here, or else I'd be 3 times the size I am with no teeth! Magarita Taffy sounds good, Enjoy!!!

Fingers crossed for cabin numbers soon!!

I came in late to the story about the TV interviews, but caught your comments about being a rehab therapist. Good on ya, as my Aussie cousins would say. It was people like you who helped my mother recover when she broke her leg (very high up) on the night my dad died of a heart attack 18 months ago. Thanks to all the help from folks like you, she bounced back, and is doing fine now.

Thanks for all you do.

Richard

Wow, sounds like a horrible night. Good Onya Mum for getting through it and bouncing back. :thumbsup2

HHHMMMM. wonder if they have one that goes clear to the knees? :sad2:

Yep, Neck to Ankles would do me.....:rotfl:

We are still trying to determine whether we will just go to the port or if we will book tickets on one of the Hop on/Hop off buses. My understanding is once we are at the port, we can take a bus from the port to/near the Christopher Columbus statue where the HOHO buses are located. In my limited research, it appears we have to book the tickets on line only. Have not been able to verify whether or not HOHO tickets can be purchased in person.

You can pay the driver at any of the stops. You do not have to purchase the tickets on line. We did this in 2007, but I can't remeber if they took credit cards or cash.

Thank you very much. I'm looking for my blackberry and computer, both of which appear able to swith from one to the other, pending of course the ability to plug them im! Ive found the adapter for my blackberry in europe, but haven't find something to use for BCN.

Check your local Target over on Sunset Hill Rd/ Spring St, they sell adapter kits with the adapters for all over the world for around $20. Radio Shack also sells the adapters. We have a couple of the entire kits with a converters because we travel a lot and the price difference with the converter is not that much.

Hi there just got back from a trip to WDW it was an advanture in more ways than one. I am reading the posts backwards but that may take days rofl. So if I missed anything important from July 13 July to the 22 July please let me know thanks. Back to reading and reading and reading

Welcome back! Good luck catching up, It's near impossible! :rotfl:

Dont sweat it , We are only in one but were giving to anyone who has a fish extender ...the FE gift that we got we had to order 1000 of them to get a deal ... so needless to say on the first Sea day we will be starting at the bottom of the ship and working our way up dropping our FE gift off at every FE hangin outside a door ...

pirate:

WOW, You are gonna need a packed lunch to take with you! pirate:

Oh yes, they run together after a while. My favorite memory of this was the little boy that was trying to look under her skirt while she was standing at the customer service desk while we were in Lumiere's. Of course, it was my DH who noticed what the boy was doing. I was too busy trying to distract my youngest from looking. And this was during lunch.
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Riiight!

Btw. I ordered THE dress. So excited.

Acutally I am a little superstitious. So, this is pretty early for me getting into the preparation mode. But you guys are so fun to read with planning and stuff.
So I ordered my dress. *woohoo* But delivery takes 4 (!!) weeks.

It's addictive planning with these guys!!! I am taking things I never planned on, pink boas, pirate get up, etc....
YAY on the dress!!! :thumbsup2

Tell me about it! I gained over 2 pounds this week (and didn't eat any differently than what I eat when I've lost weight) and my poor sister gained 4.6 pounds in 5 days! Same thing with her - she ate no differently than the week before. It stinks and it's very discouraging. She left on a Royal Carribean Cruise yesterday so the gain wasn't the best way to start off vacation...did I mention that the week before she had lost 3 pounds.

DH and I are going out for dinner tonight with some of his friends. We're actually going to a sushi/Japanese buffet. What I love about it is that I can still enjoy but eat somewhat healthy at the same time! Here's the website if you want to check it out. http://minado.com/

Hormones suck!!!! And that's all I have to say about that! :goodvibes
I love japanese food, YUM! :dance3:

For those folks who have an ITunes account. Some how my account was hacked. They charges close to 1000.00. What I have learned from this is NEVER keep your credit card on file to auto charge. I have reported it to ITunes (but am not holding my breath becasue they have still not contacted me) and to Capitol One (they have been awesome so far).
:scared1::scared1::scared1:

You guys have started something. When I still worked in a boarding school, I would teach jewellery making and loved it. So now that I have found travel sized tools, if there is interest, I would be willing to do a jewellery making work shop. I was thinking in terms of three different projects that will teach all the basic techniques that one needs for making jewellery. We could do an illusion-style necklace, which will show you how to put loops into Beadalon (nylon-coated wire), attach a clasp or another type of closure and use crimps to keep beads in place. This could be either done in the colours of the ship (red, yellow, white and black) or in "Villains" colours (black and purple). This would be done with Swarovski crystals in various sizes and shapes. The second project would be a cellphone charm, which requires making a loop out of wire. The last project would be either a key chain or a bag charm, which requires working with a jump ring. Once all those basic techniques have been managed, you can pretty much make any jewellery you want. I think I could take up to 10 people and we would be looking at a cost of USD15 to 20 per person for the materials. When I tought this at school, my youngest students were 7 years old, but I thing this would be OK for anybody aged 6 years or older. The younger children might need a bit of help.

Me, Me, Me :yay: Sign me up!
BTW, Love you fascinators as well!

I don't know if any of you know Brandie Tucker-Raleigh (scarlett873) or not, but thought I would pass along this news. She's a pretty active participant on the Podcast threads and even went on the DIS Unplugged Cruise last December.

Just so sad...........:sad1:

Confess that I don't tend to be much of a news watcher, I check it out on the net, read the headlines and the odd article but thats about it. We got rid of our TV months ago as we weren't watching it and the newspaper is so depressing that I rarely read it - just if it has happens to be on the table in front of me on my lunch break at work. Its all far too depressing.

I'm sure its been all over the news though.

My passport arrived and I'm totally blown away. Its gorgeous! Its black with a silver fern on the front and back and embossed. Inside its very colourful with maori designs and pictures depicting NZ - they are going to ruin it with stamps :lmao:

I really enjoyed the Twilight series but I've not read the True Blood books - I might have to now though as we are half way through series 2 and loving it!

It can be rather depressing watching the world destroy itself sometimes, that why i tend to watch the lifestyle channels alot, seeing people get their houses made over, or the extreme makeover shows, I love them. I am so shallow and easy to please!:lmao:

Your passport sounds way more posh than the Aussie one.....maybe I should have kept my NZ citizenship?

Love Twilight book, waaaaay better than the movie! The image of Edward in my head is SOOOOOO NOT what he looks like in the movie, EW! ;)

Finally made it to Melbourne (Australia) went from 45C to 12C but at least in the cold you can just put more clothes on.in the heat, ESP. In an Islamic country, there is a limit to how many clothes you can take off!
PM me if you have time for a mini Dis meet, we can ask the Disworlds aswell, they live pretty close by. :thumbsup2

I should take a moment to point out that MY child is an ANGEL. :rotfl:
Cynthia

Aren't they all Angels :lmao:

We get the jetlag when we go back, but then you're at home and you don't have to go and do things. And then the lazy me is coming out.

Connie

The lazy me is permanently out!!! :lmao:

well as you know it is Saturday, which means ....

WE HAVE ONLY 8 WEEKS UNTIL WE BOARD THE DISNEY MAGIC !!!!
:yay::dance3::yay:

Well, I've been browsing. We can book Jet2 from our local airport(not a BAA airport), but not pay for checked in baggage yet, do that later. That means all being well we would lose under £100 if we cancel that. If we took that flight we could add baggage later and can go up to 10kg hand baggage and 30kg checked if we book 2 bags each. Not too bad but a real disaster for me!!!:scared1::rotfl2:

Cancelling this Jet2 flight. Well in reality you can request Air passenger tax back, but they charge £40 per person. That to get just £40 back for the 2 of us!!!

BA say we can get the taxes and fees back, but I haven't checked how soon we would have to cancel or if we would have to pay a fee to do so.

John fancies going with Jet2 from Leeds, but we actually arrive back in Heathrow(well hopefully that is:sad2:) so would have to get up from there. We are, at the moment, going to book Purple parking at Heathrow for the 5 weeks. I prefer the BA option hopefully as I get more baggage.

Stress we could do without.

Editing to say we would have to travel a day earlier, but the Practik Rambla does have vacancies at the moment.

That means all being well we would lose under £100 if we cancel that. If we took that flight we could add baggage later and can go up to 10kg hand baggage and 30kg checked if we book 2 bags each. Not too bad but a real disaster for me!!!:scared1::rotfl2:

Cancelling that.

Im with you on this one! I think we would loose around £80 if we just go ahead and book with EasyJet and see what happens. I was counting on 69kg of luggage between us though and not we are going to have to drop to around the 43kg mark! Handluggage has no weight limit mind so maybe we can put 20kg in hand luggage :rotfl2:

Dans Mum will have to drive us if we go from Bristol. We've booked the airport bus to Heathrow and from Gatwich back anyway so we will loose a bit on this. IT was only £10 more to get a return than a single though so not worried about that as still need the return leg. Oh and we may loose £25 on the airport lounge but I've asked if there is anyway they can change it to the Bristol one as it is the same company that run both!

Looking at it we could get the flight the same date! I think I'm just going to book it and be done with it!
