Thanks for the congratulations! They are Royal Statistical Society Higher exams - I know right? Its basically like the first year of a Statistics degree over 2 years. I have 4 exams next year (2nd year - plus the resit) which will then give me enough qualifications to become a real Statistician as at the moment I do the work but can't be called one!

Wow, that sounds grand!!! Though, Statistician is hard to say!!!

I have just been thinking of all the things I didn't do on the ship last time and I have decided to write a list of all the things that I MUST do this time.

Oh this is fun! Doctoring your list Sarah but its only what I didn't do last time but must this time! Some I have done before but not on the last cruise

1. Go to the gym.
2. exercise by walking laps on Deck 4
3. make an ice cream cookie sandwich
4. drink champagne under the stars
5. try a konk kooler
6. Attend more art of entertaining and back stage tours.
7. Watch a sunrise
8. Trade pins
9. Eat at Palo
10. Eat at Topsiders at night
11. Don't get sick (not that I did on last cruise but you know what I mean)
12. Get to a Captain signing (always forget)'
13. Show Dan everything lol!
14. Attend an Art Auction for free drink
15. Attend the Captains Gala for free drink
16. Scavenger Hunt on Castaway Cay
17. - now I know there was another one that I have never done and really wanted to do but can't remember

If you go the art auction and get the free drink .. do you have to stay for the entire auction. I am a bit worried that I might bid on something if I stay there and I am under the impression that the art auctions are a bit of a scam, so I don't want to fall into anything ... especially if I am under the influence of the champagne.:rotfl2:`

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: We go and watch the auctions often as we find it interesting, though safely from the floor above!!! I see people leaving all the time, but I guess I would want to sit a little while to at least look interested and not just there for the drink.

Looks a pleasant way to spend an odd 20 minutes!!!;)

Saw TOY STORY 3 tonight (only open in the UK yesterday) thought it was great, but i didn't cry... i must have a heart of stone

If you've not seen it yet GO SEE IT

SW
We went to see the new twighlight last nigfht, it was good, gonna wait to see ts3 on the ship.

OMG!!! I'm so excited!

My pacsafe bag was delivered today!

Can we go now??!!!
Breath, 1,2 and 3,lol
Hi everyone! I am new to the thread and the discusson! This is going to be my first TA. I am a little nervous that with 6 days at sea my husband and I (no kids) at going to go a little crazy. Can anyone tell me anything special about the TAs and what they just love to do one them?

But I just wanted to say hello and intoduce myself, I am Tara.
Welcome
We tried to hold out but it was so darned hard... We caved in and went to see it... Both kids hope that they can see it again on the ship!

Funny - I have never had time to catch a movie... Last year DH and DS caught a premiere at midnight - a Bruce Willis movie - can't think of which one... I was sleeping... (WHY isn't there a sleeping emoicon???)
My dn went to see high school muscical 3 at midnight, I went to bed.
I found the thread about items you could get from room service that weren't on the menu...I guess I remembered the list being longer than it was. It wasn't! In case anyone is gathering info and wants the room service menu in advance, I grabbed this from other info I was viewing. The room service menu is listed below. However, the items which can be ordered which are not on the menu are Mickey Ice Cream Bars aka Pirate Bars :sad2:, uncrustable PBJ sandwiches and (or so someone says!) Mickey Rice Crispie Treats...chocolate covered or plain! We'll have to test that one out with a call!

You guys have been busy the last few days. We went to Denver on Friday and returned today. Had a wonderful time visiting relatives and celebrating a 91st birthday. We went to Rocky Mountain National Park so I can cross off another National Park from my life goal of visiting every National Park before I die. We also went to the Celesteal Seasons tea plant and learned a lot about tea.

I will have to catch up tomorrow after a good night's sleep and a hard day of returning to work.
GOOD FOR YOU!!!! Even the ones in scotland, I will be your guide,:goodvibes
Thanks Alex...

Brilliant photo.
Wow! You came the hottest weekend to come visit us in Denver! My husband ran a triathalon on Saturday and it was 102 here! He said it was so hard since it was so hot. Where is Celesteal Seasons tea plant? I've never been there before. We've had family in town this past week and we are headed back to Indiana this coming week for a wedding. This is the last time the kids are traveling before the cruise (me and dh are going to do a mini trip to Albuquerque next month). So, my dd is getting really excited! We are below the 60 day mark on the countdown chain. Well, glad to hear everyone is doing well. Can't wait to get our t-shirts. It will become even more real then!
I would LOVE to do a triathlon, respect to your dh
Thank you to all of you who gave me encouraging words about Barcelona. I had them all multiquoted and my Internet shut down and I lost all of them. :(

I know there was a newcomer in there somewhere - welcome!

What an awesome idea!

Is the laptop bag really big? I was thinking about getting one for DH since we want to bring along our portable DVD player.

My sister is leaving on a Royal Carribean Cruise on Thursday - and although it's not Disney, I am jealous. I would love to escape reality for a couple of days - looking for jobs/not having many jobs out there to be found is really taking a toll on me. I'll be very happy once we're on board the Magic - then I'll be able to relax, even if it's just for a few weeks.
We booked an rcl cruise for next year from englad, yippe, cant wait to hear what she thinks of it.
I agree, it is addictive! I've not yet used the gym onbaord but am determined to this time :cool1: (unless those pesky heated loungers entice me away)

:littleangel:
We went every am to the gym, I really enjoyed it.

I have just been thinking of all the things I didn't do on the ship last time and I have decided to write a list of all the things that I MUST do this time.

So here it is .... the things I didn't do last time which I must do this time list:

1. Go to the gym.
2. exercise by walking laps on Deck 4
3. see a movie ( or two )
4. order room service
5. use the pool
6. use the hot-tub
7. make an ice cream cookie sandwich
8. drink champagne under the stars
9. have a cocktail at the Heads Up bar
10. see Disney Dreams show
11. try a Konk Kooler
12. have a coffee at the Cove Cafe
13. Visit the rainforest room
14. Attend more art of entertaining and back stage tours.
15. Watch a sunrise
16. Trade pins
17. Go to Palo for dinner
18. Go to Palo for brunch
19. Eat a lunch in a main dining room
20. RELAX !!!!!

Actually .... this list is so long , I wonder what I actually DID DO on my last cruise ....

Anyone else care to share their MUST DO list :yay:
Go to brunch in the main dining rooms, some days they have a special menu up till 11.30, it was great after the gym, :thumbsup2
Good morning Woody. How are you today?
Good Q, How are you Woody, well I hope.
Those who like free alcoholic beverages. We should make a list.

At the Captain's reception before dinner(you might get many more than one!!!:lmao:)

Champagne at the Art Auction.

Any more?(I don't drink, so I have little experience here.:lmao:)
I read that as alchohol free beveridges and pml, then when I just read it agian sarahs post is even funnier, Im so thick sometimes.

I know, it sounds like a really bad combo.

Thanks Sue for info. Can rest easy now. Getting a little too excited. :dance3:

Will be traveling thru Georgia at the end of month. Going to AAU Junior Olympics in track held in Norfolk Virgina, Aug 2 thru 8th. DGD and DGS are participating from the Southern Regionals. Third time for DGD (9) in 800 meters and 1500 meters; this year, she placed first in both events at regionals. DGS first time in Discus throwing. Diane and I are very proud of their accomplishments.

Walt :cool1:

Too bady you wont have time to stop and visit! Best of luck to you DGD in her races!

It's Delta flight 114 / Air France flight 3607. It's operated by Delta, on Delta metal...a 767-400. Therefore, no worries on the seating as it's 2-3-2.

Alex

Alex - from the sounds of this you and my DH - Glenn will get along! He is an airplane buff...

I wonder if putting your passport into your spanx would make it pick pocket proof? :rotfl2:

LOL - that is too funny!!! :lmao::lmao:

Our schools only finish this week and have about 6 weeks. I think Scotland and Northern Ireland have already finished and they go back before ours. Seems funny to think of schools going back soon. Better though for taking them out of school in September, as I always think it is a bad time when they have only just started back, or even miss the start of the new school year.

We have been out since the end of May, and we have a 6 on 1 off calendar for the school term. So, we start on the first Monday of August and get a weeks vacation 6 weeks later. Which coincides with our anniversary, so it is an added bonus for us tat we get to take a week and relax with the family.

We are lucky that the schools are really very understanding, that it doesn't count against them, and that everyone sees this as an opportunity to learn and not escape school.

You're a bit premature, but no worries ... any opportunity to post a pic of Captain Jack is good with me pirate:pirate:

Agreed... Eye candy...

After the few days we've had, I thought a day of catching up with friends and shopping was in order. So I met up with my girlfriends for a long leisurely breakfast until 11:30, then did some shopping. Bought some swimwear, tops and leggings for the girls, some shorts and wait for it..................a formal dress for me, YAY!!! So, it was a wonderful day all round :cool1:
...
Hi Tara, welcome. I am Hayley, travelling with DH, and 2 DD's 8 & 9, but I am hoping to be childfree for a lot of the time at sea. Fingers crossed the girls like the kids club?
...
So, have we got the good Captain, or the not so good Captain? :confused3

Good on ya Mate for the shopping - and finding a formal too!! I am impressed!! Can't wait to see the pictures!

We are hohping that getting Becca with your 2 that Lucy and Bella will keep her busy... Nice to know we are on the same page... Much easier to hang in the clubs with friends!!

Anyone else care to share their MUST DO list :yay:

Im going to borrow yours and remember that you can't do it all!!

The Must Do List of a 1st time cruiser is pretty much -
* Don't get sea sick
* Eat
* Book another cruise
Anything other than that is a 1st and exciting! :cool1:
Ooohhhh, that sounds great, Can I add leave the kids at kids club!! :thumbsup2

Remember to not try to do it all - there is no way!!

Yes, add leave the kids at the club!!! We could do that while in Madeira and do something off the ship that evening... :) Just a thought... After our day trip we could drop the kids, clean up if needed and then maybe to tapas in town? Thinking out loud...

The list below shows the people who have requested to link dining to sit in the DIS area. The list needs to be checked to see if it is correct and if I have missed anyone from the list. The coloured groups are those who have already requested to sit together at the same table.

The main group will be requesting ROTATION 2 which is the APL Rotation as this is the preference of the majority. However Sue and Hayley's families are on ROTATION 1, the LAP rotation. So if anyone prefers this rotation you could be linked into the same area as Sue and Hayley's families.

If anyone has any preferences to sit at a particular table with particular DIS members please send me a PM, otherwise I will leave it up to DCL to allocate people to tables, apart from those already organised to sit together.

I am still waiting for GRAYFAL and SUE L to give me their reservation numbers ... could you please do this as soon as you are able. Thanks :thumbsup2

Anymore wish to join the DIS area .... we could do with some more families with children if possible please.

THANK YOU ALL FOR LISTENING

For those of you have sailed these longer cruises, how are the wine packages handled? Marc and I have only been on 3, 4, and 5-day cruises and we did take advantage of the package offered. Do they offer a 14-day package? Methinks that might be a bit much.....

We're also considering picking up some wine and/or cava and bringing that on with us. We've never done that before but if we see something that looks good we just might do so while in Barcelona.

Back from SIL's house in Clear Lake and had to go back to PAGE 127!!

Bailey and I had fabulous time. I will try to post some pics in the next few days but have so much to catch up on here.

Bought Bailey a new Twilight book but don't know the name. Seems 13 year old girls love this series. I prefer True Blood.

:littleangel:

I discussed our DCL bucket list with Dennis...not much we have not done at least once that we want to try, but here are a couple.

1. Bridge tour
2. Backstage tour

Otherwise, what we love and will do again and again:

1. Rainforest
2. Cove Cafe to play either SkipBo or Cribbage
3. Cove Cafe Geezer meets
4. Socialize with our new and "old" DIS friends. :lovestruc

Welcome back, Noel!!!

After the few days we've had, I thought a day of catching up with friends and shopping was in order. So I met up with my girlfriends for a long leisurely breakfast....Bought some swimwear, tops and leggings for the girls, some shorts and wait for it..........a formal dress for me, YAY!!! So, it was a wonderful day all round :cool1:....

Mum is actually going to America for a few weeks in September with 5 of her close girlfriends. The girls go somewhere together every year, no husbands or boys allowed.....We are hoping to meet up with her in Florida. :thumbsup2.....

That sounds like a great day, Hayley! I am glad that you did something for YOU! I can't wait to see the dress either!

I'm so happy for your mum that she has this fantastic vacation to look forward to with her girlfriends! How terribly exciting that you might be meeting her half way across the world from home, too!

....I have started on my jewellery for Villains Night. The bracelet is finished and I am pleased with this. The necklace is about half done as most of the purple crystals are on backorder....

You are so talented and this looks great! I am also in awe of the pink and blue pieces that you had made for you!

The list below shows the people who have requested to link dining to sit in the DIS area....

THANK YOU so much for volunteering to make this happen for us! It will be so nice to have so many familiar people around us to share the fun!

I have just been thinking of all the things I didn't do on the ship last time and I have decided to write a list of all the things that I MUST do this time.....Anyone else care to share their MUST DO list :yay:

Great idea, Sarah! You have several that are on my list, too.

Here's mine:
  • MOST OF ALL....don't get sick this time so you CAN complete the list!!
  • See a film in Buena Vista Theater
  • Take a Galley tour
  • Take a Backstage tour
  • Spend a period of time in a deck chair on "secret" Deck 7 instead of just visiting it
  • Use adult pool
  • Use hot tub
  • Relax while watching a show (besides PITC) on the Ariel Vision
  • Enjoy Rainforest Room
  • Get ice cream at Goofy's Galley
  • Hang out at Studio Sea for a game
  • Make flubber when adults are allowed in Oceanears Club
  • Get a character wake-up call
  • Set the propeller alarm clock
  • Get a picture taken with a character in their "vacationing attire" on Deck 9

For some reason, while I was thinking about my Wishing To-Do List, I thought that there are some things that our new DCL cruisers may not know.

  • The coffee table in the cabin will raise up and lower by an underneath lever.
  • Your bed lifts up from the bottom so you can store luggage that may not fit by sliding it under the bed. (Obviously there's still a height limit for the luggage.)

...Though, Statistician is hard to say!!!

I don't know why, but I was probably 30 before I could say "statistic" correctly! I would stumble over that word until I gave up! Now it just rolls off my tongue. :confused3:

Thanks for the congratulations! They are Royal Statistical Society Higher exams - I know right? Its basically like the first year of a Statistics degree over 2 years. I have 4 exams next year (2nd year - plus the resit) which will then give me enough qualifications to become a real Statistician as at the moment I do the work but can't be called one!

I hope they do Mickey Treats but I've never ordered any!

Wow! A true number cruncher!! Very impressive!
The biggest thing I remember from my college Statistics class was the professer asking us "Does yougurt make people fat, because only fat people eat yogurt!"

For those of you have sailed these longer cruises, how are the wine packages handled? Marc and I have only been on 3, 4, and 5-day cruises and we did take advantage of the package offered. Do they offer a 14-day package? Methinks that might be a bit much.....

The question on the wine package has been asked a couple of times to DCL and the answer has apparently been that for a 14nt cruise, you need to purchase two 7nt packages. We haven't gotten a good answer that if someone has prepurchased a 7nt wine package (which is available to purchase online) if they would be able to use it, or if they would have to buy a second package to take advantage of it. 14 bottles is probably too much for us to go with, but I'd like a 7nt package, so we could have wine some nights, and other drinks the other nights. We'd always done the wine package since we were cruising with 2 other families, but our last cruise was just DH and I so we didn't order a package and tried some of the different drinks each night. I like the wine better than the daily drink specials, but the variety was also nice.

Welsome back Noel!! Glad that you had a good time!

My Neice enjoyed the Twilight books at age 20, and got me to read them. I enjoyed them but I also prefer True Blood (which I have hooked her on!)

I have a question for all those travelling with kids and who have been on DCL before...

It's our first cruise with little Simon and our first time at family beach on Castaway Cay.
Is there enough shade to stay? Or should we rather bring our tent?!?
We have this very cool pop-up-super-ready-to-use tent. And I was thinking about taking it with us... Should we?!?

Still way behind on reading but in case no one else commented, I would pack the tent if you have the room or it doesn't put you over weight limits. We still use the same type for adults at the lake and they are super light weight.

While there is always plenty of room on the beach it is true that if you arrive late your selection could be less then what you want. We have always found a good spot but I would bring whatever you think you might need - just to be sure. A sunburned baby is no fun for anyone and could be dangerous.

Question for those arriving to Barcelona before the 17th. Do any of you have a recommendation on excorted tours of the city? We come in on the 14th and have scheduled the Monserrat tour on the 17th and Girona on the 18th with some of you but are wondering about the other 3 days. So any suggestions would be appreciated. Val

John and I are coming in on the morning of the 15th. We plan to go to the Picasso Museum for sure and have dinner at Agua. Maybe you might like to join us? Let me know.
