Connie - so excited to see you finally booked!!! We don't live far from one another, but rarely see one another! So glad you had a great Baltic cruise.

Welcome to all the new people! My DH and I just went to lunch and we had a great talk about his job and everything. I feel really good about everything and getting excited about the cruise again. The layoff news of my DH can spoil it for a while, but I am feeling much better and ready to sail!!!

Sarah, I agree with Woody - I think we should wait a little longer before the mini, but that is my 2 cents. Also, love the idea that someone mentioned about having fruit instead of cake. Abby doesn't like cake, but a bowl of strawberries to celebrate her birthday would be perfect. Never would have thought of that. THANK YOU!

You are such an upbeat, positive person. Your family and DH are very lucky!!
I hope your DH finds a new position really soon!!

I too like the bowl of strawberries idea for a celebration!! I am going to remember that for the cruise.

It is easy enough to convert a word file from win 7 to a PDF, it took me about 1 minute. I personally would like to look at the Navigator sooner than later. People may want to add things before the cruise or changes may be made, but you don't have to print it out until the final version.

Just my thoughts...

I am confused:confused3. Why would you do topsiders on formal night? I have seen people come to dinner is a wide variety of attire on formal night. We always eat in the dining room no matter what. I am not sure whether we will dress up (Dsis and Myself), but I am certain Dh and DBil will not. They may wear a suit. That is a big "May" Not sure what you typically wear to dinner, be we always wear clothes that are clean and serviceable. I figure that is good enough.:thumbsup2

I agree as well. Wear what ever floats your boat!!

Let me tell you a funny story about formal wear. We were invited to a reunion which my husband told me was formal. So off we go, me in a long formal gown, mink coat, hubby in tux etc,. dressed to the nines.

Turns out IT WAS A BAR-B-QUE!! What did we do? We just laughed all with the rest of our friends at ourselves, dug into the ribs and had a great time!!

I don't think clothes make the person. I like to dress up but if some don't, who cares? If I am paying the freight, my family dresses up, like the old adage, he who has the gold makes the rules. I try to listen first to what the person says about themselves and about others. I use that criteria to make friends and I probably make enemies the same way.

Disney is not making it a requirement as it once was on cruises. It is not like it once was where you would be denied entrance to the dining room if the head waiter felt you were not in "proper" attire. If Disney doesn't enforce a formal dress code, who am I to say what you wear?

Since you are not going to be told you can't come into the dining room, don't worry about it!! Have fun and join us!!

Just my thoughts...

Where happy over here because nobody tought we gone to win from the world champions. But we did and were so happy everyone is wearing orange.

I love it when the underdog wins. Reminds me of the old saying, Pride goeth before the fall. I guess Brazil really fell!! :rotfl::rotfl:

Secret Mickey exchange is closing this weekend according to Totally Angelic(Sarah). I think most activities are on posted on the first page but one that is not is the postcard exchange which Gismo1554 (Sarah) is organizing.

Just my thoughts...
:surfweb:

Actually Noel it is! No one seems to notice it though but I have put it there honest! :confused3

For anyone participating who does not have a FE, how do we deliver postcard?

The original fish to the left of the door to which the fish extender is usually attached was designed so that DCL could lodge envelopes, cards etc.

Albert

I will volunteer to have the lists on our door. Tell me how you want them formatted. I could do excel spread sheets with names and room numbers and attach a pen so people could change their numbers. My only concern is do you think people would come by and randomly change numbers? I guess I could follow up and call people to be sure??:confused3

Let me know.

Oh yes they might but I'm sure not that many people would would they? Most people are good at it and if we say all room changes need to be noted on the first day then we should be able to see if someone comes along and alters it later?

So thats someone for the Kiwi Group.

Did you mind doing the Postcard one or do you think we should have a different one for each thing so it doesn't get confussing? 3 of our group are also doing the postcards.

Swap you for my Excel Spreadsheet!

It was a great win Connie!:cool1:

:lmao::worship: Good for you Noel! It's what's on the inside that counts, not the outside :)

TAKE WHAT YOU CAN !!!! (I SUPPOSE) pirate:
GIVE NOTHING BACK !!!

BTW, oh captain-my-captain, it seems that there are too many copies of the morphed logos still linked to my photobucket account and it's making me exceed the bandwidth each month. (earlier & earlier each month it appears...) Would it be possible to request that people move the logos to their own account and link to there instead so they don't turn off so quick? (or so I don't have to upgrade to the pro account?) Thank you, thank you!! :worship:

Ok... Thanks Noel and Sarah for the tips about leggings. I thought about it, and did find a cute outfit that would be real travel/ wrinkle retardant.
Agreed! I hadn't been thinking in this direction but this covers the comfort and cold issues! :thumbsup2

Terapin--Just a story about the Lasik, so same thing doesn't happen to you. A friend of mine was warned about the noise of the machine so she wouldn't be startled. She too had taken Valium and was practically asleep when they did the procedure. On her first eye, she was startled by the noise and this botched the procedure. The doc yelled at her for moving! She also said it was in a dentist like chair and she felt this contributed to her inability to keep her head still. She had the procedure redone, at their expense, a year later to correct the problem and they've told her she may need more re-dos in the future. So, you might want to ask them how they prevent the patient from moving their head during the procedure.
:scared1: AIGH! Never heard this one before! Will have to keep in mind because I do want to have this procedure done eventually...

Oh I just did the coolest thing!

I used google streets to get a 'walking' tour of our hotel and surrounding area! It was just being there (almost!). Really helped give me a visual of the area and what to expect! So amazingly, freaking cool!

I just googled "google streetview 27 rambla de catalunya" and there it was! We are staying at Hotel Praktik Ramblas.
Thanks for this! This is our hotel also and I had never thought to go look here to see what it would look like!

OK so I posted on that other site, just got off the phone after 1 hr and 1/2 with AT&T. Got a wonderful girl to explain all my phone thing-ami-jiggers and understand now how the bill works. Also, how the data plan works. So as I posted elsewhere, come September, I will be playing

"Where in the world is Laura." :rotfl2:

Also, since I will be adding on the IDP (International Data Plan) and ITP (International Texting Plan) I will be able to pop on and off a bit more easily w/o worrying I'll be breaking the bank. :scratchin to think - it only took me about 5 trips to Europe to figure out how to work this dang thing to my advantage. Oh yeah, 5 trips to Europe, 4 trips through the PC and Caribbean, I may be slow but I'm worth the wait.
Laura, what type of phone do you have? I need a new phone but even with an international add-on-plan I know you need a phone that will work in Europe so I'm looking for suggestions...

we will be celebrating DS, Trevoy's 15th birthday, which is actually Sept 6, but I've asked Disney for a cake on the 19th
I totally forgot that Trevoy's birthday was the day after mine! Just one more way that we're almost twins! :lmao::rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2:

:surfweb:

I think its being converted into a booklet pdf so not sure whether this takes longer as I'm not doing this bit of it. Im happy to send the word version out to anyone that wants it early anyway and assuming it doesn't take long to do what I was thinking was releasing an initial version in early August then I can keep updating as we go until nearer the time - probably 2 weeks before so people who are flying in can get it.

Anyone who is flying in earlier I'm happy to bring some extras with me and I'm hoping someone else will offer to do the same (incase I either forget or they get damaged on the way)

My DH (love him anyway) will not bring his suit this time. For "formal" and "semi formal" nights he will agree to wear his nice silk shirt(no tie) and his nice linen sports jacket ..... oh, and black shoes ( not tennis shoes).

MEN!

Connie, if I tell Ann Chuck isn't bringing a suit, do you think I can leave mine behind?

Albert

I did find it on post #13!! Mea Culpa:worship::worship:

I think we should move your post #15 to at least post #2 in the next thread. Todd's post #1 is really long and I think lots of other posts underneath get missed.

Hi. DD and I signed up at the beginning and had to cancel. I re-booked it the other day. Last Wednesday, the 23rd, I had to have emergency eye surgery for a detached retina. Because of the procedure used, the nurses in the OR said September 16 might be too early to be allowed to fly. :confused3 Anyway, I don't know where to even begin to start reading and catching up on everything. Is it too late to participate in things and where do I find them? Please everyone, I need lots of Piixie Dust because I go to my doctor on Tuesday and hoping he'll tell me I can join everyone and be allowed to fly. Would love to see my old friends again. Actually, would love to 'see' better.

Bev

pixiedust: Hope the DR gives you the ok on Tuesday. I will talk to you that night to see how things are going. Would really love to help you and Lindsey celebrate your birthdays again!!!

 now's the time to go cruising clothes shopping.:rotfl: Yah know, gotta make lemonade out of lemons.

Where is my red dress??? :rolleyes1

I'm afraid this will be the last reminder for Secret Mickey as I want to get it all sorted this weekend. Anyone who wants to join in please check out my post on PAGE ONE !!!!!

Thanks :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Did you get my PM Sarah??

My DD is leaving for Russia tomorrow.....she will be gone for 2 weeks. If you all could keep the mission team in your prayers, I sure would appreciate it. :grouphug:

Dont worry I couldn't find it initially when I checked where it was! I thought I was going nuts! Its hard because post 1 isn't all the info any more so things get missed so easily!

INBOUND BARCELONA FLIGHT SCHEDULES

I asked this question over on the thread for the September 8 Med Cruise, but since that thread is moving so much slower I thought I would post it here instead:

For those of you doing the back-to-back, would it be possible to put together a mini-version of this spreadsheet so we would know who is coming in when and where they are staying? Not that we won't have enough time in 24 nights to get to know each other, but just in case we want to combine resources in Barcelona for tours, travel to the port, etc.

Oh yes they might but I'm sure not that many people would would they? Most people are good at it and if we say all room changes need to be noted on the first day then we should be able to see if someone comes along and alters it later?

I have no problem for doing it for as many groups as you need. Seems like it is easier to have one place to go. I could just pass the info to the point persons or just leave it up for them to collect. Just let me know.

Just my thoughts....

Welcome, Val. I know we're going to have a good time. (This is a sweet crew.)

Bev, I pray your surgery goes well and you are OK'd for the cruise.

I guess we didn't want to be seen without a gown on. :rotfl2:

Yeah, I kind of felt like we'd be out of place and would stick out like pirates pirate: .

Congrats to snagging the military rates and what a great way to celebrate your first anniversary !! Whatever breaks the military can catch from the private sector are well deserved!
!

Hear, hear!

If you find a way to drop 40 lbs. e-mail me first!!!! Please please!!

Me, too; me, too!
