....Kimberly, You are so creative! Love it! :thumbsup2
Everyone in Kimberly's FE group - She has done the coolest gift, Very creative and thoughtful! ....

....You are so full of great idea's! I'm going to try and do this too, Thanks! :thumbsup2:

Thank you and thank you, Hayley!

Speaking of.....those FE gifts and I have a date tonight! :lmao: I really need to get moving on those! In fact, I think I'm going to turn the laptop off shortly so I'm not as easily distracted! We need some quality time together, ya know?!

My mom blamed it on her coffee drinking for me. I blame it on her being 5'2" and not looking for a 7' man!! :rotfl2:

Small feet also come with my CTVC issues. But I've developed a bit of a shoe problem even so. I justify buying so many pairs of shoes because I say I never know when I'll find more that fit!! My latest pair I bought on line I have to share because they're the perfect traveling shoes. Bought at Onesole.com - they have snaps on the side of the shoe and tops that are interchangeable!! Go check them out and you'll all want some!! :cool1:

My mother ALSO drank gallons of coffee so I was doomed!!! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I checked out the shoes. They are too cute!! I may have to get a pair. I bought two pair of these sandals at Blomingdales in black and a coppery brown color.

Today has been a rough day. Finally got to the dentist, and what I was expecting (root canal and crown) turned into 4 crowns and a fracture that went straight to the pulp of the tooth - so it was extracted, and I will need to go for an implant.

So sorry about your dental problems. It sounds so painful:sad2: Sending :hug: your way.

Unfortunately hearing aids are not covered under medical insurance either. All his visits and testing are covered but the devices are not. We had to come out of pocket completely for them. Fortunately my mom helped with them the first time around. And she offered to help this time as well. But she had already given me her motherly advice regarding this cruise and she doesn't think we should go. I still haven't told her that we are past the point of no return. Yes, I am a grown woman and still afraid of my mommy.

Hear that one...me too :scared1:
Parental approval is a most powerful issue
But seriously.I do so hope you have a solution. Makes us here in the UK stop and think that even though our NHS is crumbling and bursting at seams...we still avoid the situation you are in..hope it works out

Yosemite is so beautiful. Yesterday we hiked the Panorama Trail (8.2 miles) from Glacier Point to the Yosemite Valley. We went past three waterfalls. Priceless.

I've been away from the boards for three days, and already there's another 35 pages. I don't know if I'll ever catch up.

Woody

Sounds absolutely beautiful! Glad that you are enjoying your travels!

Its a Pirates greeting ....when we be pillaging & plundering are measly lil black hearts out ....Its like saying "Hey whats up" ...lol It started many years ago since the first POTC came out and Mr Gibbs and Captain Jack cheered at the bar in Tortuga ...Then on prior cruises it was something we salty Pirates yelled out to each other on the ship ...again a form of saying Hello ..... heres a video clip from At Worlds End where they do it again ...kind of like a Hello or Goodbye as it were ...

so , there you go ....
TAKE WHAT YOU CAN !!!!

pirate:

Give Nothing Back!!!!

Am hoping several of you post during the crossing, we are thinking of doing a crossing in 11 :boat:

I have started a blog, and am trying to remember to post daily. If I can get into the habit, I will be posting from the ship as will my son (required for school). Ought to make my trip report and scrapbook easier to do!!

Only about 75 here and was cloudy this morning!!

I am so sorry to hear about your dental issues. I really sympathize as I am having some of my own. Having trouble with your teeth can be very painful as well as expensive and not much is covered by dental insurance. DH had two implants last year. We had to pay $2K each out of pocket.

I am having trouble with gums not teeth. Still never had a cavity in my life but now am having more gum issues. Front teeth (6) are all capped due to being a "lemon sucker". Because of gum issues may need implants as well.

This is something I do not want to start before the cruise. Even if teeth look a bit like a snaggle tooth tiger at this point, I want to wait until after the cruise to do all of this surgery as implants can not be done until gums heal.

I am takeing care of the crown before the trip, but will have maxed out our dental coverage - which is very good. I will also do a consult to make sure I am a candidate for the implant. If I am, and can wait until January, insurance will cover half, and I have a spending account that I can use for the other half (money available Jan 1, and then you pay into the account all year). So all of it for about $400.

Kills me that we pay so much into insurance, and still have to pay so much to keep our teeth...

I think we will be looking at at least a thread per month :thumbsup2

LOL - you think that is all we will need? Anyone take a look to see wha the largest meet thread is? We have to be towards the top of the list.

I cannot believe that medical insurance won't pay for hearing aids. How silly they will cover all the visits and tests but not for the hearing aid, that doesn't even make sense. :sad2:

So, since I was in all of our insurance stuff I found that hearing aids are covered by medical for initial dispense and replacements that are scheduled. This seems logical to me. I am not sure what our homeowers would cover, I didn't look there.

It just makes no sense to me that no insurance is covering them...

Cruise shopping is the best shopping! I LOVE Maxi dresses ;)

We should look into this, if there is still time, I know alot of us would love pins.

Sue, that sounds horrible, you poor thing, I hope your feeling better by the time you read this. That fracture sound awful! I just had 2 implants last month, I have a temporary protective denture over them at the moment, I won't get the permanent teeth until we get back from the cruise. I have to get 3 - 5 more yet. They are so expensive here too! I have paid just over $20 000 for 2 half finished implants and 1 porcelain bridge in the past 3 months!!! :scared1: Lots of jelly and ice-cream for you!

That suck's! Stupid insurance companies, they are so money hungry! Makes my blood boil! Good Luck! :goodvibes

You are so full of great idea's! I'm going to try and do this too, Thanks! :thumbsup2:

LOVE Maxi Dresses as well! Bringing quitea few... :)

I am in for a special pin!!

Feeling better, still have the headache though. Dentist thought it would be a good weekend to lay low. She wasn't kidding! I was amazed at what my dental covers. I have to give my company credit - they didn't skimp on this!

Am so in agreememnt about insurance companies!

I love the post card idea as well! As hayley would say "Good on ya Kimberly!"

Hayley - did I get it right? I swear i am learning about 6 new languages! I am getting South Afrikan through DH's company as well - but the only term that has stuck so far is "Baie Dankie" which sounds like "buy a Donkey" but means thank you ver much... Its all in the slang I believe...

So Baie Dankie everyone for the well wishes!!

Thanks for your input, I too didn't realise that so many of the little annoyances I have been living with were gallbladder related until the DR told me. I do have a really hard time losing weight, I train with a Personal trainer 3 times a week and I'm fairly active, I eat well most of the time, I am within the healthy BMI, but would like to lose about 15 kg's and it just won't come off. I watch what I eat, I know what will trigger me, so I just avoid certain things. It will have to come out eventually, I'm just trying to put it off because of the horror stories I keep hearing of people being worse after removal.
Thanks for sharing, your removal sounds like it definitely improved your life, I need to hear more of those stories! :flower3:

Another positive experience here!! About 4 years ago I started waking up in the middle of the night with a burning pain in the middle of my chest that radiated around to my back. I couldn't really tell if the pain was coming from my front side or the back but it was really annoying. It started off mild but after a few months I was awake almost every might. Finally went to the doc and an ultrasound showed I had only one gallstone. I thought no big deal, I will just eat better and exercise more and try to get rid of it on my own. Well, the pain just got worse over the next 18 month until 3 days before Thanksgiving, I couldn't eat, sleep or move. Doctor almost drove me to the ER herself but I pay for my own insurance and it's super costly to have anything done at the ER and since this was now an emergency I was able to get in with my surgeon 2 days later. Turned out the gallstone was the size of a golf ball and it was trying to get thru the bile duct which is smaller than a finger tip causing contractions similar to child birth (or so I was told that's why it hurt so bad). I was on the strongest dose of Vicodin and that didn't even help. I also couldn't loose weight despite the fact I was only eating broth for over 2 weeks since I couldn't keep anything down.

After the surgery I was a whole new person!! The overall swelling in my whole body went down and I instantly lost about 10 pounds. It's been 2 years and I've had no side effects. I haven't experienced any of the stomach/bowel issues that some do and I'm back to eating anything I want! Best part is there hasn't been anymore pain whatsoever!!

The one thing I don't recommend is having it done right before Thanksgiving!!! It really sucks to watch everyone else eat all the good food and you can't dare eat anything in fear that one of the 25 staples holding your abs closed might pop out! The staples really were the worst part for me. Try your best to avoid them!

I know everyone has to do what's best for them but this is something I really wish I would have just taken care of sooner because I let it go until it almost popped and as my doctor still likes to remind me, that could have been fatal.
It's much better to be able to control when you're going to have a procedure done than to be forced at a bad time because you waited to long!

Anyway, just wanted to give you another positive outcome to ponder.

Chasity :goodvibes

thank you ...lol

part 7 of the thread has been put up ...please dont post there until the mods close this thread ...

You are very welcome. I have heard that also. DH's Dad and Uncle went to the Cleveland Clinic is Ohio who I understand also has a good reputation.

Thanks so much for all the info. It will take me time to read thru all of it!Almost as bad as this board!:lmao:
And thank you for the offer!

Annie:flower3:

Todd has a picture of Trevoy and Helen in their shirts. But dare I say it, a picture of you and him would have more of an impact. Kimmy you will be in for a shock, don't know if you saw when I posted his current stats, 6' 2", 225lbs.
:scared1::eek::scared1: OMG!! It's a shame you never feed that boy and he can't grow... :rolleyes1

I checked out the shoes. They are too cute!! I may have to get a pair. I bought two pair of these sandals at Blomingdales in black and a coppery brown color.

Your sandals are cute too!! I've got 4 tops so far for mine and I'll probably order more now that I know they're comfortable. Takes up a LOT less space!!

Just wondering if anyone has ever done this. Please, PM me, I have questions. Thanks.
Never done this excursion before, but my roommate and I will be doing it this time around! :woohoo:

I did that last time around (different hotel though). You will have a fantastic time. I really enjoyed DLP, although the original DL will always be my favorite.

I am really excited about it! I hope to not rush myself and just enjoy:)

Annie, you are very welcome. Just remember to ask if you need help with anything.

SOS Pirate overboard

Now I got your attention :)

I just tried to send a pic for roll call and it keeps bouncing back address not found.

This is what I used. rollcall@transatlanticpirates.com

Any ideas what is going on?

Hi Belle,

Since Sue and I took over managing the site we have been using photos@transatlanticpirates.com for pictures. After reading your post, I just noted that on the first page of each of the WBTA threads the address is rollcall@transatlanticpirates.com. Rather than try to change any links or reference, I now created a rollcall@transatlanticpirates.com, so you should be OK to send your photo to either address now.

Glenn

Oh yes sorry lol its a brit thing! Flashlight over hear is a torch but yes flashlight

So do we need to bring our own flashlights, or do they have them there for you to use? We really want to see the caves.

Hi Everyone!

Thanks to reading these boards, I just got the military discount for our WBTA!! Went from a cat 8 to cat 6 and saved $1360.00!!!

See you all in Barcelona.

Sandy and Tom (yogitxtx)

Awesome!! Congratulations. We originally booked a Cat 8 GTY hoping that we might get a balcony upgrade, then downgraded to 10GTY a few months ago in lieu of dropping out altogether to save $1000. With the military rates, we then went down another $1000, and moved up to Cat 6GTY. So we're psyched as well!

Good grief, not even 24 hours since I was here and already 10 more pages! Holy cow batman!

I like the shopping online idea! :thumbsup2
You could get into the whole Farmville thing? :confused3
Maybe you could learn to paint with your feet.....sounds more fun than Farmville.........better duck for cover, I know there are lots of farmers here :rotfl:
Other than that, you can eat :yay::yay::yay:

And for those Farmville players with an iPhone, apparently the app has hit the iTunes app store! Now there is no excuse not to harvest your crops on time wherever you are ;)

Oh yes sorry lol its a brit thing! Flashlight over hear is a torch but yes flashlight

We use both words here meaning the same thing.

I for one love slang. I remember back in the 1970's when my English friend came here and made a few faux paus. She asked to pinch a *** (do you have a cigarette) and may I borrow a rubber (may I have an eraser). One of my favorites from that time was my American friend and I visiting my family in Waterlooville. After a large meal, she thanked them and told them she was "just stuffed". They were horrified until we were told that they thought she has just gotten pregnant. We all had a good laugh.

As I work in IT, we deal with routers a lot. We pronounce router is with a long OU sound, not as in root like a tree root. We have a few staff from the UK and when they have started with us, they invariably call them ROOTers - this causes the entire team to crack up laughing as a "rooter" is a slang term for either a "try hard, wannabe type person" or "root" as in having sex. They usually snap out of calling them that very quickly :rotfl:

Skivvy in the UK is a domestic servant, female historically. We quite often use the term in a more slightly derogatory way when complaining - 'you treat me like a skivvy', 'I'm just your skivvy' etc.

We call them "lackies".

Today has been a rough day. Finally got to the dentist, and what I was expecting (root canal and crown) turned into 4 crowns and a fracture that went straight to the pulp of the tooth - so it was extracted, and I will need to go for an implant.

You have my sympathy! The implant is a horrible process! I was "lucky" with my one that they could put the implant in at the same time they removed my smashed tooth (bike accident) but it was very painful healing process. I did like the wee metal bar though, I was sad when they finally put the enamel fake tooth on, the bar was more "fun" to play with :rotfl:

Ok, I give 'faffing" with it????? I am going to have such a fab vocabulary by this cruise!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

"Faff" to muck about. I say it to my Mum all the time "stop faffing about!" - usually when we are about to leave home to go somewhere and she just had a bunch of little tasks she needs to do before we leave.

I've had a "cruisey" day so far. I have started working on a few more fish gifts - a bit of an experiment so no promises.

I also have sorted out all my trading pins and got them ready to travel. I'm bringing about 50 with me including some Tokyo Disney ones and some fairly early pins. I'm happy to trade any I'm wearing so if you see me around and want to trade, feel free to ask me ;)

Oooh, we hit over 100 yesterday. Nasty!

I think we hit about 109 today... that's avg for here right now. Wait till August it'snot uncommon to hit 120+. A few years back we topped out at 132
:scared1::eek::scared1:

Take What You Can !

Annie:rolleyes1

LOVE that outlet mall! We're just up and over the grade in Reseda. I am so tempted to take one last stab at the Tommy Bahama outlet before we leave; the only thing wrong with retirement is that the monthly take home is just a bit less than it was; there are times when being responsible is just no fun!

We'll stay home and keep packing, I guess!

Michael

The outlets are fun, but not on the weekends. Its way too crowded. I went to college at CSUN, so I know exactly where Reseda is. It gets pretty hot there during the summer. Happy packing!

My mother ALSO drank gallons of coffee so I was doomed!!! :rotfl2::rotfl2:
