After posting my earlier inquiry about Chicago, I received recommendations for two different restaurants, so I tried them both! I had "Chicago-style" pizza at In-Laws and at Giordano's (no, not on the same night :rolleyes1 ) and, while both were good, the best IMHO was In-Laws.

LOL - you think that is all we will need? Anyone take a look to see wha the largest meet thread is? We have to be towards the top of the list.

Our EBPC thread ended on #17 or 18 but that's not counting the huge thread we had going before the 250 page rule. It was not uncommon to have 10-15 pages per HOUR let alone per day.

I think we hit about 109 today... that's avg for here right now. Wait till August it'snot uncommon to hit 120+. A few years back we topped out at 132
:scared1::eek::scared1:

Take What You Can !

Annie:rolleyes1

Welcome back and here is my contribution ofpixiedust:

Best wishes to you and your husband.

So do we need to bring our own flashlights, or do they have them there for you to use? We really want to see the caves.

I have no idea but I read that also. We are planing to bring a "torch" just in case unless someone finds out differently. DH is thrilled to bring more gadgets.:rotfl::rotfl:

Unfortunately hearing aids are not covered under medical insurance either. All his visits and testing are covered but the devices are not. We had to come out of pocket completely for them. Fortunately my mom helped with them the first time around. And she offered to help this time as well. But she had already given me her motherly advice regarding this cruise and she doesn't think we should go. I still haven't told her that we are past the point of no return. Yes, I am a grown woman and still afraid of my mommy.
I don't get it, Hearing aids are a necessity! I checked our medical insurance and they are covered here up to a certain amount. But if your income is below a threshold our government supplies them. I know that won't help you much since I live in Australia, much just out of interest. :confused3

I have to admit, I am a little scared of my mum too......well...probably not scared, but I do seek her approval like a little girl still. :goodvibes

Okay Corinna. You have me seriously considering one of the dresses that seller on eBay has (don't worry...it's not the same one you got!). My biggest hesitation (besides I shouldn't be spending the money right now) is that I do not like to be sleeveless because I'm not comfortable with my flabby arms! Otherwise, I think it would be flattering for my "curvaceous" body! I emailed them asking if they make matching wraps, but the response was they will make jacket, but they can't provide a picture. A wrap would be FAR easier than a jacket!
You could probably just pick up a wrap or pashmina in a complimentary colour?

Thank you and thank you, Hayley!

Speaking of.....those FE gifts and I have a date tonight! :lmao: I really need to get moving on those! In fact, I think I'm going to turn the laptop off shortly so I'm not as easily distracted! We need some quality time together, ya know?!

I know! I need to talk less and work more!

Thanks so very much for converting to PDF file....:thumbsup2

Di just got home and is excited to have the journal to capture our moments...:flower3:

Walt :cool1:

No problem, I'm glad someone else can use it. :thumbsup2

I love the post card idea as well! As hayley would say "Good on ya Kimberly!"

Hayley - did I get it right? I swear i am learning about 6 new languages! I am getting South Afrikan through DH's company as well - but the only term that has stuck so far is "Baie Dankie" which sounds like "buy a Donkey" but means thank you ver much... Its all in the slang I believe...

So Baie Dankie everyone for the well wishes!!

Yep, that's it! If you want to be really okka (Aussie), you can say 'Good onya Mate!'.

Another positive experience here!!

Anyway, just wanted to give you another positive outcome to ponder.

Chasity :goodvibes

Thanks Chasity. It sounds like yours is definitely better out than in. Sounds like you went through a long period of pain and feeling awful. I think if I was consistently ill, I would take it out. I am pretty good *most* of the time.
It is good to know when the time comes when I have to take it out, there are positive experiences. Especially with the weight, I really battle with this! That reason alone is enough for me to take it out!
Decisions, decisions, It can wait till next year......
Thanks again, I really appreciate it. :flower3:

Good grief, not even 24 hours since I was here and already 10 more pages! Holy cow batman!

And for those Farmville players with an iPhone, apparently the app has hit the iTunes app store! Now there is no excuse not to harvest your crops on time wherever you are ;)

We use both words here meaning the same thing.

As I work in IT, we deal with routers a lot. We pronounce router is with a long OU sound, not as in root like a tree root. We have a few staff from the UK and when they have started with us, they invariably call them ROOTers - this causes the entire team to crack up laughing as a "rooter" is a slang term for either a "try hard, wannabe type person" or "root" as in having sex. They usually snap out of calling them that very quickly :rotfl:

We call them "lackies".

You have my sympathy! The implant is a horrible process! I was "lucky" with my one that they could put the implant in at the same time they removed my smashed tooth (bike accident) but it was very painful healing process. I did like the wee metal bar though, I was sad when they finally put the enamel fake tooth on, the bar was more "fun" to play with :rotfl

"Faff" to muck about. I say it to my Mum all the time "stop faffing about!" - usually when we are about to leave home to go somewhere and she just had a bunch of little tasks she needs to do before we leave.

I've had a "cruisey" day so far. I have started working on a few more fish gifts - a bit of an experiment so no promises.

I also have sorted out all my trading pins and got them ready to travel. I'm bringing about 50 with me including some Tokyo Disney ones and some fairly early pins. I'm happy to trade any I'm wearing so if you see me around and want to trade, feel free to ask me ;)

Ok so now a skivvy is a top, a servant and lackies are like skivvy is to servants or a in the UK a derogatory way of referring to someone. Ask me if I am confused.:confused3

I assume then both muck means and faff means procrastinating or fiddling around, am I correct? The only way I have heard that other than referring to cleaning out a horse stall is the expression "Where the is muck, there is Brass". I understand that to meet if there is a dirty job, there is money to be made.

Told the router story to DH. He and both thought it was hilarious. Right down to the root, eh?

I am not looking forward to this process of dental implants....:headache:

As for pin trading, I am not sure how many pins we will bring or if we will just start a new lanyard.

Language is fun stuff. I get most of my understanding of British terms from reading. I remember reading about a boy wearing a jumper (sweater on the east side of the pond) and it really puzzled me for a while  . It will be great getting to talk w/DISsers from around the world.

Wanted to mention for those of you who like the Fit Flop type of shoe, WDW has them in a Mickey version. Yeah, I want a pair, too.

Hi Belle,

Since Sue and I took over managing the site we have been using photos@transatlanticpirates.com for pictures. After reading your post, I just noted that on the first page of each of the WBTA threads the address is rollcall@transatlanticpirates.com. Rather than try to change any links or reference, I now created a rollcall@transatlanticpirates.com, so you should be OK to send your photo to either address now.

Glenn

Thanks will go and send pic now :)

I remember those days very well!

I am sitting here watching old time TV. Just watched Alfred Hitchcock and now I am watching Night Gallery. The episode was called "Make Me Laugh" This was from season one in 1970 and Stephen Spielberg directed this one. It was his directorial debut.

Wow 40 years ago!!!

Ok I am only up to page 200 but I keep loosing my saved things so I am replying now and will go back to page 200 after this post.

Yay, Finally another Coach Lover, all this Dooney and Bourke talk, I'm a Coach girl too! :cool1:

I am not really a Dooney and Bourke fan but I did buy the black with colorful mickey mouse heads on it - I got it for the Mickey Mouse - now Vera Bradley - that is my favorite purse things!

Regarding the homeschooling-esque port materials some of us were interested in pulling together to enrich the cruise educationally, anyone who is interested please PM me. I imagine pulling together a small packet of information on each port (maybe one port per person to keep it simple and easy) that would be easy to review with the kids to give them some cultural context etc. Ok, that sounds really dry - I don't want them to be - just fun and simple and informative.

PM me if interested in participating. :cool1:

I have 2 older kids - ages 13 and 15 but would still like to participate! I will PM you

Am I the only one who's just a little disturbed at the placement of the acorns in this picture? :confused3:rotfl2::lmao::

I am with you!

Our ships clock is in the bedroom of our RV because it reminds us of our stateroom on the ship. :cloud9: Same color wood and that cozy feeling. :goodvibes

This is one thing I hope to buy on this cruise - I did not know until the last cruise when we set the alarm for the first time in 5 cruises that the alarm plays when you wish upon a star! There was no room in our suitcases last time - this time I hope to make room!

Well, I've been lurking here for a few days trying to get caught up on what is going on and I've decided that's impossible, so I'm just going to jump in and try to figure out what you have been up to in the last million posts!

This will be our sixth cruise, so our first gold cruise:cool1:.
I'm (Andrea) traveling with DH (Michael), DS12 (Zachary) and DS10 (Adam). We are in room 5012. We are taking DCL air, so don't know our flight plans yet. Unfortunately, DH can't take any more days off work than he already is, so we plan on being a bit tired on 9/18 after what I'm sure will be a long day/night of travel. I think the excitement will help us out, though.

.

Welcome - this will be our 6th cruise as well and our first time at the event golds qualify for.

Jason and I are definitely game people :)

On the EBTA I was in charge of Game Time - we met each sea day at 1 pm and played games with other Diser's - it was fun - I actually brought about 15 different types of games with us - this time to save space we will not be bringing them all but will still be bringing quite a few - almost all of our games are Disney Themed - including Pixar Monopoly, Villians Monopoly, Disney Monopoly, Disney Uno, Disney Apples to Apples, Disney Pictionary, etc. Not sure what all we are bringing this time.

This weekend i'm off to Paris(disneyland). Hopefully i don't have to take a day off to read all the messages on this board.

Connie

We went there after the EBTA and had a great time - only one regret - did not buy a Chip and Dale pin for my daughter - in Paris they are called Tic and Tac and had meant to buy a pin with "Tic and Tac" words on it - people think we are crazy when we tell them this!

Some may remember that I posted the question about DisneyStore.com gift cards and how long it takes to receive them. I am SO happy to tell you that it arrived today...that's nearly 3 weeks! Whew. I was getting worried that a $300 GC was lost or stolen. I got the card to take to use towards OBC. I wanted to purchase it with a credit card that gave me cash back. I need to do it again, too. I didn't get a higher amount the first time because of my concern that it would be lost. I have to admit I love the selection of graphics to choose from for the card.

Connie, that sounds like a wonderful way to spend the weekend!! ENJOY!

We just call Disney Cruise Line and put an OBC into our account using our Disney Credit Card (getting Disney Points AND 6 months interest free) it is much easier than doing a GC and no worries about ti getting lost. Now if family and friends want to send us Gift Cards we gladly take them!

Eric,

Just wanted to put 2 cents in - I have NOT booked with DCL airfare however, just returned from Spain, France and London in April and they (here and there) are pretty stringent. (School Tour) We were allowed 1 bag up to 50 #'s. $100 for 2nd bag and if you went over it was automatic $50 surcharge. And...they are like DCL, in other words, I was over 1/4 lb and the ticket agent let me take something out. However, the person following me in line had to pay $50 for going ove 2.5 lbs. Boy was she mad.

I know your asking for DCL but the generally the info is the same. The airlines are a lot worse than they were in 2009. 50#. Then from 51 # to 74 - its another $50 and anything after that you have to use ground/air shipping. They are stringent and even worse coming from there to here - good thing we aren't using them. I've noticed that from USA to there - they don't always count carry-ons, but from over there, they sometimes do - depends on who's watching. Once we got past security - you were pretty much free. Sorry - just putting my two sense.

We had so much trouble with our carry-ons when traveling in Europe - the rules are so different than in the USA. If you are traveling on a US carrier you should not have trouble - but if you are checking in with somone else or taking another flight in Europe (not connecting but like you are going somewhere and then flying to Barcelona) be careful and read that airline's rules for carry on's very carefully. In Barcelona the KLM ticket lady had to approve and tagged each piece that it was approved for carry on. they were very picky. For our flights in Europe my son will be carrying a "Man Purse" because they did not let the men to take a "small personal" item on as well as a carryon (a small backpack with his computer) but they would let me and my daughter carry on our large purses as well as our carry on. So we are planning differently this time!

I hope that you too manage to steer clear of another gallbladder attack. It is pretty horrid I know. Try with the low fat diet too. all the best. I don't blame you for going down that route!!!

All I can say is you do not want to have an attack on the cruise! My husband did and it was a very interesting experience with the whole thing - he knew what was going on as he had had one the april before (it was December) but the Dr. onboard was convienced he had a bowl impaction and wanted to get us off the ship ASAP - but we managed to stay on for another day and made it to Orlando - and then flew home - he did have surgeory but not till after Christmas. i still have nightmares of the Dr. trying to figure out how to use the xray machine - he had to get out the MANUAL!!!! I kid you not!

DH is finally taking me out for dinner to celebrate 41 years of marriage that was back on June 7. We are going to a cute pub where our oldest son is displaying some of his photographs. can't wait

Congratulations to you and your husband. We celebrate our 41st wedding anniversary a week on Monday(5th July).

I just cant believe folks would wait in line for a phone:confused3

No jumping jacks for you then Granny marilyn:lmao:

They skirted ones are very pretty ,I like them, where did you get it?

Take care Marilyn, pancreatitis is horrible:flower3:

I can't believe folk would wait in line for a phone either! 5 hours gone from your life!

Definitely no jumping jacks Lynne!!!!!

Well, I have been trying on my clothes again, last night at work I booked the train to take us to Manchester, I dont suppose anybody else is staying at manchester airport on the tuesday evening???
We are staying at the raddsin blu.
Today I was running, and my leg was all good, I know you are all thinking, yeah right whatever but Im so excited that its finally getting better after a year of physio and faffing with it.:goodvibes:goodvibes

Was the clothes trying on successful?

We usually stay at the Radisson and have come to think of it as part of the holiday. We stayed at Bewleys last time and was really taken with it. This time we are driving down to Heathrow though.

Yosemite is so beautiful. Yesterday we hiked the Panorama Trail (8.2 miles) from Glacier Point to the Yosemite Valley. We went past three waterfalls. Priceless.

I've been away from the boards for three days, and already there's another 35 pages. I don't know if I'll ever catch up.

Woody

Glad you are having a good time. Yes Yosemite is so beautiful.

Don't worry about all the posts, most of them are just chatty getting to know each other posts!!!

Putting it delicately, I just try to pull it to the side.....:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Yes, a much more comfortable way!!:thumbsup2:laughing:

I has my MRI on Wednesday. I still do have the results yet. I talk to the doctor today and do not have the results yet. I don't know if that a good thing or a bad thing. At lease i was not in pain this time at the MRI, because I was drug out of my mind. They gave me 2 high doses of xanax. Some on could have shot me and i would have not cared. I will share the results when i know.

Stephen

It has been quite a while now, so I hope something can be done and get you pain free too.

I checked out the shoes. They are too cute!! I may have to get a pair. I bought two pair of these sandals at Blomingdales in black and a coppery brown color.

http://www.zestessentials.com/acatalog/FitFlop_Electra.html

I am on to my 3rd pair of FitFlops and love them. They are so comfortable. I don't think they do what they say they do, but for comfort they are fab.

Another positive experience here!! About 4 years ago I started waking up in the middle of the night with a burning pain in the middle of my chest that radiated around to my back. I couldn't really tell if the pain was coming from my front side or the back but it was really annoying. It started off mild but after a few months I was awake almost every might. Finally went to the doc and an ultrasound showed I had only one gallstone. I thought no big deal, I will just eat better and exercise more and try to get rid of it on my own. Well, the pain just got worse over the next 18 month until 3 days before Thanksgiving, I couldn't eat, sleep or move. Doctor almost drove me to the ER herself but I pay for my own insurance and it's super costly to have anything done at the ER and since this was now an emergency I was able to get in with my surgeon 2 days later. Turned out the gallstone was the size of a golf ball and it was trying to get thru the bile duct which is smaller than a finger tip causing contractions similar to child birth (or so I was told that's why it hurt so bad). I was on the strongest dose of Vicodin and that didn't even help. I also couldn't loose weight despite the fact I was only eating broth for over 2 weeks since I couldn't keep anything down.

After the surgery I was a whole new person!! The overall swelling in my whole body went down and I instantly lost about 10 pounds. It's been 2 years and I've had no side effects. I haven't experienced any of the stomach/bowel issues that some do and I'm back to eating anything I want! Best part is there hasn't been anymore pain whatsoever!!

The one thing I don't recommend is having it done right before Thanksgiving!!! It really sucks to watch everyone else eat all the good food and you can't dare eat anything in fear that one of the 25 staples holding your abs closed might pop out! The staples really were the worst part for me. Try your best to avoid them!

I know everyone has to do what's best for them but this is something I really wish I would have just taken care of sooner because I let it go until it almost popped and as my doctor still likes to remind me, that could have been fatal.
It's much better to be able to control when you're going to have a procedure done than to be forced at a bad time because you waited to long!

Anyway, just wanted to give you another positive outcome to ponder.

Chasity :goodvibes

So glad you felt so much better after the op. I have read many such accounts and it does appear worth it!!!!!

Unfortunately hearing aids are not covered under medical insurance either. All his visits and testing are covered but the devices are not. We had to come out of pocket completely for them.

Sorry to hear that your DSs hearing aids are not covered by the medical insurance. Insurance companies actually never seem to want to pay out in my exprerience. Hope you manage to get something sorted.

Today has been a rough day. Finally got to the dentist, and what I was expecting (root canal and crown) turned into 4 crowns and a fracture that went straight to the pulp of the tooth - so it was extracted, and I will need to go for an implant.

OUCH :scared1: This sounds very painful :scared1: Sending :hug: and hope you are not in too much pain. Having dental treatment is a nightmare.

I have started a blog, and am trying to remember to post daily. If I can get into the habit, I will be posting from the ship as will my son (required for school). Ought to make my trip report and scrapbook easier to do!!

Are you going to share the link ..... I love reading blogs:thumbsup2

Just wondering if anyone has ever done this. Please, PM me, I have questions. Thanks.

I know Annie ( Bareacuda ) as done this tour before. We are doing it this time so my DH can relive his youth and his many sailing adventures. :rotfl:

Awesome!! Congratulations. We originally booked a Cat 8 GTY hoping that we might get a balcony upgrade, then downgraded to 10GTY a few months ago in lieu of dropping out altogether to save $1000. With the military rates, we then went down another $1000, and moved up to Cat 6GTY. So we're psyched as well!

I love the way Disney treats the military and retired military in your country with such well-deserved benefits. DH is ex-UK military and gets nothing from any British travel companies.

I also have sorted out all my trading pins and got them ready to travel. I'm bringing about 50 with me including some Tokyo Disney ones and some fairly early pins. I'm happy to trade any I'm wearing so if you see me around and want to trade, feel free to ask me ;)

Do you have any pirates of the caribbean pins to trade ... if so I will be stalking you around the ship pirate:

and finally ..... on time and correct this week ..... let me give you the countdown

ONLY 12 WEEKS UNTIL WE BOARD THE DISNEY MAGIC !!!!

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:
:yay::yay::yay::yay::yay:
:dance3::dance3:

...... it's getting closer :thumbsup2

You gotta love Friday nights on DISboards. You actually have a chance of catching up on here because there is less chatter!

It's after 3:00 am and although I'm SOOO exhausted, I'm happy to report that I was a good girl tonight. :fish:I stayed devoted to the task. :fish: I'm by no means finished, but I got a significant chunk of the work completed. :fish: Sad part is that as I was setting them aside, I counted them finding I'm missing one. *sigh*

Well, off to bed before those of you in other parts of the world are up and going about your Saturday posting a bunch of pages that I'll get sucked into reading instead of heading to bed!!

Night-Night...more :fish::fish: work tomorrow!

.....We just call Disney Cruise Line and put an OBC into our account using our Disney Credit Card (getting Disney Points AND 6 months interest free) it is much easier than doing a GC and no worries about ti getting lost. Now if family and friends want to send us Gift Cards we gladly take them!....

:rotfl2: I hear ya!

In addition to the return on the credit card, by using MrRebates.com, I got another $15 for the $300 GC. So that's the big reason why I went to the trouble of doing it that way.

distant water colored memories, of the way we were...

Putting the microphone down now...:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

:lmao::lmao:

Congratulations to both of you!!!

Ok, I give 'faffing" with it????? I am going to have such a fab vocabulary by this cruise!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:
Ha ha I will post you a scottish to english disctionary so you can get with it,lol
Putting it delicately, I just try to pull it to the side.....:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
Yes, thats ok as long as you dont have to hold the door closed as well.:lmao:
Trying to figure out what my next step will be. My homeowner's insurance is not going to cover the loss of the hearing aid. They said it had to have been lost due to something happening to the house (break in, fire, earthquake, etc). I am now shopping for an a different insurance carrier and told them so, as I know many other companies do cover loss of personal property outside of te home.

I would like to get DS a replacement before school starts, but with expenses tight due to the cruise, I don't know where the money is going to come from.
That sucks, hope you can figure something put.
Okay Corinna. You have me seriously considering one of the dresses that seller on eBay has (don't worry...it's not the same one you got!). You're really pleased with the quality of the dress you got, right? I saw a couple of "neutral" feedbacks that spoke to that, however, I know you can't please everyone, too.

Thanks! That's good to know. I'm sure I could find a postcard at a shop in town. Is that a place where you can buy the postage as well?

Pirate away! Pirate away! pirate:
Hi, just wanted to say, they dresses are so good looking only you would be focusing on you "so called " flabby arms, my ams are very flabby (post huge wt loss) although I notice it, I am sure nobody else looks at my arms and also in my pics you def dont notice, go for it, you only live once, dont worry about arms.
Good grief, not even 24 hours since I was here and already 10 more pages! Holy cow batman!

Yippe,,,,cruise days are good:thumbsup2

Ok, I am faffing, procrastinating, puting it off, I need to get off my big butt and trim the huge hedge, this involves me standing on a wheelie bin ,Len holding me(by the big butt), me waving a huge hedge trimmer about over my head, I hate doing it, there is holly through it so even picking it up afterwards is a hassle, then Im going to dads boat in anstruther, byeeeee have a great day.
