My concern about pre-payment would be how would we get a refund if needed. What if we don't make port? I understand wanting to take advantage of the exchange rate, so I plan on getting some Euro from my bank soon and then taking it with me.
thanks for the reminder.... if the exchange rate is lower now, I need to hurry and do that also! Especially because we have to pay the remainder of our apt PLUS pay 300 euros deposit that we'll get back. so we have to get bunches. sigh

I LOVE Chip and Dale! I really starting liking them when I worked at WDW - they could always get into so much trouble and get away with it! LOL!

I'm bummed about the fuel charge...we could really have used that extra OBC. I love Disney, but this is one thing that I think is very unfair. :(

Wow...only 3 months from today! That's exciting! :)
I think it's unfair also!

I had been trying to decide whether to snorkel on Tortola or St Marteen. Looks like I'll go for a DCL snorkel excursion on Tortola because of the limited time. Gee, I guess I should have been paying attention to the port times when trying to figure out what I wanted to do.

But then again I've been trying to figure out if I was even going to sail. And now that is in jeopardy again. DS is at a Six Flags park today and called earlier to say he lost one of his hearing aids on a roller coaster. There goes my cruise money if I have to replace it. Wonder if my homeowners insurance will cover it? I've had good luck with Disney lost and found. Let's hope Six Flags is just as effective. He knows exactly where he lost it. He felt it go and almost caught it. So hopefully they will truly do a sweep of the ground under the coaster like they said they would.
I saw that on facebook and I almost cried. :(
I hope they find it!!!!!!!!!! :sad2:

I'm happy to report that I am not only ready for the "Silver Rush" in about 26 hours, but I've also secured my tour for Friday, September 17!
Unfortunately, it means I won't be back in time for the DIS Meets at the Hard Rock Cafe, however. :sad2:

I want to see more of Spain besides Barcelona, and this is a good fit for me. You go to Torres Winery, Montserrat, and beautiful Sitges. You do have free-time to be on your own at Montserrat and Sitges as well. It's 63 EUR per person for a 10 hour tour, and that includes payment for the rack railway to go up Montserrat.

This site
also offers it, but there is no discount when you purchase through Viator Tours instead of the Barcelona Tourism site noted above.

If you book this, here are a couple of tips:
 • The Barcelona Tourism site has you pay with a PayPal engine. It defaulted to Spanish, but as soon as I changed the country from the drop-down menu, it changed the site to English.
 • I chose to pay via Credit Card, not a PayPal account balance/checking account link, using my no-exchange rate Capital One card. Look for the link to make a credit card payment just below the CC logos on the left.
 • By default, the PayPal engine was set to convert the currency. At today's current exchange rate to USD, it was cheaper to not convert the currency into US dollars (by nearly $2). So I selected the option to keep the currency in EUR and accept what the credit card company's rate/fees are since I have no added fees from Capital One. So as always, do your homework if have any currency conversions to consider.
thanks for all the info.
Are ALL capital one cards like this? or is it some special cards they have? Just curious.... we may have to use capital one if this is the case! haha

Oh... and Ruby got her license today!
Jeff said it's not possible.. we can't possibly be old enough to have a child who has their driver's license already.
haha
Sorry hon... we are old enough. *sigh*

Ohhhhhhhhhh
I forgot to say....
If you're on late dining but you're on waiting list for main dining and don't end up getting it on the ship, and/or hoping to attempt to change on the ship (although that's probably the same people. :lmao: If you're hoping for it- surely you're on a waiting list now?)

ANYWAY- let me know.. and we'll keep in touch to see who doesn't get main dining.
I ask because we have main dining confirmed- have for a long time- but we're not gonna need main dining. I wonder if when we're on the ship if we tell them we want to switch we can tell them WHO we want to switch to? or would it have to go to those on the top of the waiting list? If it's not the latter... maybe we can work it out with someone who really wants main dining? (family of 5, btw) We'd love to help out a fellow DIS'er really wanting main dining- if possible. :)

.....thanks for all the info.

SDid you book the sedgeway tour marilyn?

Not yet. Things got put on back burner for a while and I haven't really got up to speed yet!!

Arrival/Disembark On Board/Departure

Barcelona 4:00/9:31
Gibraltar 6:00/8:00 5:30/6:00
Madeira 6:00/8:30 8:00/9:30
St Maarten 6:00/8:30 5:00/6:00
Tortola 6:00/8:30 2:30/3:45
Castaway Cay 10:00/11:30 3:30/4:00
Port Canaveral 5:00/8:30AM

Straight from DCL. Hope this helps clarify. We sure have a short time in Castaway Cay. I think I may just snorkel and go lay on the beach.

I don't think we will even bother to get off the ship at CC - well perhaps for a walk.

I think the problem with leaving early from Tortola and arriving late at CC is that it is normally 2 days at sea not 1! It is such a shame to have these 2 short stops.

We had such a lovely day!! We spent about 7 hours touring some of the many forests in the area. We saw 3 big horn sheep, 5 does (deer), 4 bucks (deer) with beautiful velvet on their antlers, a young eagle and a black bear! We were with a couple of good friends and our GS. We also had a wonderful picnic lunch of cold fried chicken, potato salad, melons, banana bread (DCL recipe!!), cookies, chips..... Have I told you how much I love living here with my Montana Man? :lovestruc :cloud9:

Ok, back to cruise planning......

Sounds a lovely day Angie. Perfect.

Hope everyone has a good weekend! Myself and DH are off to London for the weekend. Going to see Bon Jovi!

Good luck, hope you get your son's hearing aid back safely! :)

Took the girls to see Disney on Ice, Disneyland Adventure this morning, they loved it (and sent me broke with the merchandise!). Bella went dressed in her full Disneyland Minnie costume and loved all the attention she got. Nice start to the school winter break. Yay, 3 weeks of sleep-ins and no packing lunch boxes! :yay:

That sounds fun!:)

Thanks cruise experts.

Some of the transfers came through with fees. Largest was $2.59, smallest was $0.70. Total is less than $10, so at this point I am dealing with it.

Corrina, I too love your dress. I found one as well - 3 weeks to have it made, and they were having a huge sale, so...

I am sorry that you end up with fees. I really don't understand this. My Paypal account is funded by my bank account and therefore should not incur any fees. I am also sure that the sellers who I regularly pay through Paypal for purchases would have said something if they are stuck with fees, so I think it is the personal transfer that is the problem.

Well done on finding a dress. Mine was a bargain as well. I paid GBP90 and that included shipping through courier service from China. We are hoping to have a vow renewal next year and I am at the moment looking at Wedding dresses. I have narrowed it down to two or three different styles. If I was to buy something comparable here, it would cost me 600 or 700 Pounds and the ones I am looking at are all around 100 Pounds.

I've always wondered how you order something like this? I've had friends who have had suits and dresses and shirts made overseas, but never knew how they did it.

I got mine from Ebay. I just entered Plus Size Evening Dress and it came up. It was literally love at first sight. I still was considering it for a number of weeks, but then decided to go for it and I have not regretted it. The seller was a charm to work with and kept me posted all along the way.

SHe was trying to add her info for the roll call and I was trying to change mine. Here is the error message:
Recipient: <rollcall@transatlanticpirates.com>
Reason: <rollcall@transatlanticpirates.com> No such user here

OK - I think I know what the problem is! You actually enter yourself into roll call on the new website. If you go out to www.transatlanticpirates.com and then click roll call, then click on roll call signup to add a new entry. Fill out the form and save/submit (I can't remember what it is called).

To edit, go out to www.transatlanticpirates.com and then click roll call, then click on roll call update. Enter our DIS name and the password you set up when you signed up. Try Mickey if you don't recall putting a password in - at one point we had set a default and I think that is still in place.

Then, after you are signed up send us a photo!! (photos@transatlanticpirates.com)
Work has been very hectic for us, and we are still adjusting to camp schedules, broken arms and dr. appts., but we are going to try and get causght up on all the requests and photos today.

Only a few of the transactions have had fees, so I am not stressed about them - all is good. :goodvibes

I found my dress on new eve formals. They price in Euro and USD. It was about 2 weeks for off the rack, or 3.5 weeks to have one made . Pricing is very good, rack proce plus the made to order fee which varies on size. I got mine, including the slip for under $100 USD

Happy Saturday everyone and for those Dads that are velebrating Fathers Day tomorrow - HAPPY FATHERS DAY!!!:thumbsup2

thanks for all the info.
Are ALL capital one cards like this? or is it some special cards they have? Just curious.... we may have to use capital one if this is the case! haha

It is all capital one and Charles schwab cards have the no foreign fees. The Schwab credit cards are no longer available. Schwab atm card are still available. They have no foreign fees and will refund ATM fees.

Attention all ye pirates (pirate:) that ordered shirts!

Shirts can not be ordered withut full payment. Payment will be accepted by PayPal (www.paypal.com). Once on the site, click on SEND MONEY. Funds are being sent to my PayPal account (Well, mine and DH's, but I trust him as long as Harvey isn't around...) Use the to email address: sue.kraft@gmail.com[/EMAIL"]sue.kraft@gmail.com"]sue.kraft@gmail.com. PLEASE SELECT PERSONAL TRANSFER as there are no fees as long as you use your bank account or PayPal account. If you use a credit card, you will need to pay a fee. (please don't pass the fee to me!!:scared1:)

.

Unfortunately pay pal change there polices about a year ago. The only way to send free money any more is sending it as a gift and from the bank account. This way sending it as a gift and it is funded by a credit card the sender pay the fees.

Right, formal wear. I love the idea of dressing up, but the reality is I'm not that comfortable dressed up too much and can't see myself in a ball gown. What are you all considering wearing? I have noticed that the longer cruises see more dressing up than the shorter ones, and I will indeed make a big effort.:lmao:

Oh, I always shower and dress nicely, and do look as smart as I can, it is just the more dressy things I feel out of place in!!! I really don't know why.:confused3 Even when we went to Topsiders we showered and changed. It is all part of 'going out'. I just couldn't turn up in what I had been wearing all day, wouldn't do at all.

I don't even pay a fee when I send payment via Paypal, but when I receive money there is a fee. So I guess with the Personal Transfer, the fee is added on to us instead of the recipient?

Some of the transfers came through with fees. Largest was $2.59, smallest was $0.70. Total is less than $10, so at this point I am dealing with it.

For those encountering fees when using PayPal for a Personal Transfer from a PayPal balance or a bank account:

There are fees for
 • Money crossing borders, and
 • Currency conversion.
To find the fees, click on the arrow at the bottom of the PayPal link. It says:

"Additional fees for cross border payments and currency conversion.

"A cross border fee of 1.0% applies to payments received from senders in another country.

"Payments requiring a currency conversion include a 2.5% fee."

There is no fee for a transfer within a country, using the same currency (for example USD from California to Florida).

You are right Sarah. I won't stress. In a few weeks I will go and look around a few shops and see what I fancy. I so enjoy seeing everyone in their finery.
