We had a Siberian Husky who also loved to run. He wasn't interested in running AWAY, just running! Sometimes if he slipped out or slipped his lead, he would run for hours - our biggest fear was that a gator might grab him while playing in one of the nearby lakes. We would drive around in DW's van and if we saw him, just opened the door; he'd run and jump in. If we didn't find him, he'd eventually just come back home and lay on the front porch until someone realised that he was there.
Wow! I would love to have a dog like that. Well, actually, our white one, Chloe - runs for about 100 ft and then poops out (we like to say that somewhere in her lineage - she crossed over to the wrong side of the tracks) although her paperwork claims she's full-bred - she can be let off leash. Isis - uh ah - you can see the wheels turning in her head. Course this is also the dog that sleeps on her own purple pillow. But I'm hoping that when she hits 10, she'll be able to be let off-leash. Doubt it but we've got 5 more years to train her if old-age doesn't set in sooner.
