What is Swiss Chalet - it sounds delicious? Sounds like you had a fun day - well except the tax part!!

Swiss Chalet is a yummy take-out/family restaurant that serves salty-spiced rotisserie chicken with yummy spicy dipping sauce, soft french fries, salad etc. It has it's own distinct taste and is total comfort food. It's actually allowed on Weight Watchers (minus the fries of course) because the chicken is roasted, and the dipping sauce is very low fat. The sauce is so yummy we have been known to drink it!

It was delish - then I took the kids out for a walk, and stopped in at a friend's house for a cuppa. Nice end to the day!

Tax appointment tomorrow before work - oh joy!

Now I know what dinner is tomorrow night, lol.

Post #2 has been updated with revisions to the Inbound Barcelona Flight Schedule and Barcelona Accommodations List. Note we have some new potentials for meeting at departing airports! :)

Thanks Kim,

I now have DISers on my flight! I hope they don't snore, lol.

:rotfl: You're welcome!

That reminds me that one of our cruise's DISers is on a plane right now. She posted on FB that she just got settled into the plane and was waiting for boarding to be completed. Her neighbor was already asleep, snoring, and hogging the armrest! That reminds me....earplugs need added to the packing list!

Hayley - I love your comment about the lamb chop, I laughed! but I don't think a steak or lamb chop can kill you!!!! Well, maybe we have some really bad cooks on the boards, but would you ever eat anything with a chance you might die! They were giving the killer frog meat to children.

You have a point! I generally try to avoid anything that might kill me! :thumbsup2

Well we are **super**-excited here: my 15 year old niece is joining us! She is super-cool and a really great girl! She is very excited - she hasn't done much traveling.

Can she be added to the FE lists under my mom's cabin (Tru)? I don't have permission to add her name to the lists, so let's call her "R" for now.

I am so excited to be able to view our trip through another kid's lens! She is going to be very interested in plans etc. so I have another person to share the Dis joy with!

Oh this is such wonderful news!!! My daughter has been patiently waiting for someone her age (she is 15 also) to come along! Please find out from your niece if she would like to "meet" ashlyn online through facebook or email.

I was so thankful that we live in a country that you do not have to do that. Spoiled you might say, but it made me very thankful. I guarantee you won't see anything like that on "Let the Magic Begin" night:rotfl::rotfl:

Ok the steak on the first night of the EBTA almost killed us - it had to be chewed forever! It was the worst meal I had ever had on any of our 5 cruises!

OK, whats the deal? I go away for 3 days and you all put up 30 plus pages! Goodness! I have spent the better part of the day and evening catching up…

To recap our weekend, we eaded to Lady lake FL (home of The Villages) for my inlaws 50th anniversary. It was a lovely get together with a few couples that are still in FL, despite it being summer. In addition to their friends there were about 16 of us – their kids, spouses and grand kids that all came in. It was a nice gathering that lasted the better part of the day and evening.

Saturday we made the drive to Cocoa Beach. It was very odd crossing the bridges to Cape/Port Canaveral and not seeing a DCL boat there. The Carnival Dream was there, and Glenn and I both remarked that it looked like a floating hotel. It just lacked character.

We left the beach after about 6 hours of playing in the sun, sand and water. Stephen has an awful case of sun burn, complete with blisters. I too have a burn, but no blisters. My eyes swelled up quite a bit today, so I will be doing Advil and cold compresses tomorrow.

Needless to say, I was in Disney withdrawal. Hard to be so close, and yet so far… But, I was outvoted no day with the Mouse as it was a day at the beach instead…

On to catching up…

Hello all!
I've just joined this cruise. It's just me (Paul). This will be my 13th DCL cruise but my first on my own. Hopefully I will be able to find enough to keep me busy!

Welcome! Don’t forget to register on the website and send a photo to be posted. We are a few days behind in getting records updated, but will get them all up this week.

I absolutely HAAAATE this stupid system for booking.....i'm so infuriated right now I can't even stand it I'm about to throw my laptop out the freakin window!

Now I have to go to bed so I can get up for the AIDS Walk in the morning----and it's thunderstorms outside right now (it's karma for me throwing a temper tantrum when i was trying to book my excursions )!!!

Tantrum? What tantrum? I didn’t see one…

WOW ..... 10 pages since yesterday
thats got to be some record

If it isn’t it has to be close!!

I appreciate everyone's patience with my impatience last night. If my mother could have seen the fit I was throwing she'd have smacked me up side the head and said, "You are a grown man, not a toddler!"
I use this line on Stephen!!

Ok, its official, The Boys are really starting to get excited about the trip.Good Morning all.....

LOVE the bears!!

Ever have one of those days where you have so many things you could be doing, but you just feel like doing nothing? That is me today. I worked this morning and now, I just want to veg.

This is me on too many work days… Luckily I m able to get my work done in addition to DIS-boarding…

is anyone planning on Parasailing at CC? We just booked the 11:30 one and hoping maybe some others are also?

Stephen and Glenn did this last year and would like to go again. I was hoping to find some parasailing on Tortolla but haven’t had any joy as yet. If anyone has suggestions, I am open to them all!

Holy cow people... what a chatty bunch. I knew I had a few pages to catch up on but didn't realise you'd all moved over to thread 6!

At least it isn’t just me!

My house... my rules. Very simple. I don't have kids but I do have nephews and when they are in my home they have to do what I tell them.

This is my house as well. My house, my rules…

If it was bad news about my health I would think - Oh well, may as well make the most of the time I have left, Pass me a Mickey bar.
If it was good news about my health I would think - Great, I'm in good health, I can afford to splurge, Pass me a Mickey bar.
So really, doesn't matter either way!

LOL – I like the logic here!

Of you can't find a disposable dress, try for the lightest, possibly a crinkle dress you can and then it will take no weight at all. Here there are loads of maxi dresses this year for summer, and some would really look very nice at a formal night and be a lot lighter than some proper formal dresses.

That's what I was thinking Marilyn. I have some beautiful dresses, but they are heavy or boned and too hard to pack. I do have a black silk maxi dress that I may wear to one formal night, It folds up to nothing, and if I hang it in the bathroom while I have a hot steamy shower the wrinkles should drop.
I do have a question about the kids though. They have an outfit for 1 formal night. But the other they are hoping to wear some ballerina / princess dresses that their Granny bought them. They are not short, quite long tulle skirt. Would they be OK?

I am not bringing a real formal formal… instead am bringing a few crinkle dresses that are very dressy…

As for the girls – these sound perfect!!

Any body doing anything exciting tonight?
(please mind I am at work so dont post anything too exciting to me me jealous)

I would trade you my sun burn for your work… I thinki would come out ahead…

The best news....the event (which was smaller than in years past becuase of some big organizational changes at my agency---which sponsored/benefitted from the event) brought in just over $52,000-----and I brought in almost $2900 of that myself---making me the top fundraising walker of the day and my team (which inlcluded 5 of my coworkers) the top fundraising team for the day.

AWESOME!! Great job guys!!

OMG!!! THERE'S A DISNEY DOONEY PURSE? WHERE? HOW MUCH? I NEED ONE!!!!!

PICTURES!!! I NEED PICTURES!!!!!!

(said as she's foaming at the mouth)

LOL – this is how I was too! I want one so badly… I looked at the black bag with the colorful silhouettes and didn’t care for it – then the cruise ones came out… Needless to say this will be my anniversary gift to myself…

I need to rant for a few minutes.
My DSis just called, upset. She is a 911 Dispatcher and just got off a call where a family lost a 2 year old little boy for 20 minutes at a park. They said a couple witnesses said they last time they saw him was at the edge of the waterMy sister immediately dispatched water rescue. Unfortunately, the little boy was found and he had drowned. My rant comes from the fact that two witnesses said they saw him at the waters edge. WHY didnt they see if there was an adult with him? WHY didnt they stop him and redirect him back to his mommy? What a horrible thing to happen and to think if people just looked out for each other this might have been prevented.

I could go on about the parent, but that would be a whole other rant. I understand that all things happen for a reason, but today I just dont want to hear that. My thought and prayers go out to his family as they deal with this tragic loss. To all the rescue workers who found him and who will forever have that image in their brains and to my poor Dsis who feels helpless becasue she was not able to save this one.No doube she will be hugging my grandchildren tomorrow, tight, as I will too.

Thanks for letting me vent. Hug someone tonight and be thankful they are with you.

Vent away! This is just awful, and so very senseless. I get the laws and the dangers of being a first responder – or even a bystander that tries to help, but when it comes to kids my “Momma Bear” instinct comes out. I would rather apologize profusely to everyone for trying to protect a child than see one get hurt. Hugs to your DSis, she deserves lots of them. I’m gonna go re tuck my kids in and thank heaven that I have them…

The other day I received a very sad message from Heather ( GOS ) one of our DIS cruisers, with some tragic news. This is the message I received:
"Sarah - it is with great sadness that I have to write and tell you that we will not be joining you all in in September. My husband passed away suddenly on Tuesday after a operation on his heart. I would be so greateful if you could you pass on this message to the people making all the arrangements for the activities on board.
Thank you - Heather "

Sarah, thanks again for letting us know. This is just so tragic. I am at a loss.

I added R to the list with Tru.

Calling all Papayas and Pineapples… We have changes to both groups. We gained R to both, and sadly lost Rick and Heather to the papaya group.

It's unfortunate for our European friends, but the current Euro exchange rate is very good for some of us. With that said, I contacted Praktik Rambla today to find out if we can pre-pay for our reservations now while the exchange rate looks so good. Here was their response:

Thanks for this Kimberly! I too am watching the rates and am wondering how far they will drop. (Sorry to all our UK DISers…).

I think this is it… However, I am sure that I missed a bunch of stuff as I was a bit inundated with the pages and pages of posts… I am now going to try and tackle the remaining 23 PM’s that are in my inbox…

Oh yeah... DOUBLE DIGITS HERE!!!! 99 days until we head to Spain!!

Very confused on the west coast.....Sue, I thought you were heading to Canada?????? How did you end up in FL?? Was it someone else?

I'm going to be getting a reputation of not knowing what's going on anywhere. I sent a note to Erik congratulating him and Jason on the walk the previous day.....it was actually 2 days prior.

Maybe it's a time warp thing......

Sorry, I have been offline for a couple weeks and spent all day catching up on posts. :surfweb: I noticed the Formal Nights have continued to be a topic of discussion. I noticed the new list from concierge showed formal nights on day 3 and 8, semi on 13, theme on 7 and pirate on 9. On May 22, 2010, I posted the results of my call to Disney Reservations (Cindy) of formal nights on day 2 and 7, semi 13, theme on 8 and pirate on 11. :confused3

So I called today to make a dinner rotation request (LAPLAP…) and also asked to confirm the dates of formal nights which I had been given in May. And guess what? I spoke to Carlos and he advised : the formal 3, 8, semi 13(at least that doesn’t change), theme on 7 and pirate on 9. WHAT !!!!! :scared1: I asked if there had been a change from the dates I was given in May and Carlos said he had no way of knowing, but these were what is scheduled as of today. :)

I asked to speak to a manager :chat: and was connected to Melissa. I explained to Melissa that I was given other dates back in May (just a couple weeks ago) and asked if the computer noted a change from prior dates and she also said there is no way to tell, other than what it is showing today. Melissa apologized for the confusion and then pointed out that “they” could change it again (and again) as we are still three months away from departure. To make things worse, Melissa pointed out that even the ports of call could change too.

I asked who the “They” :rolleyes1 were and she said multiple departments work together to set the formal, semi, theme and pirate nights. She advised that changes in entertainment , ports, port times, and other issues all effect the special nights.

So as of today, that is the story. ;) This of course does not explain why mdwoodman (6-5-10 post) got an email from Disney with the old dates I was given in May. :confused3 What I get from this is “things can change”. I too, will make my plans with the best info I have at the time and make changes later, if needed. :woohoo:

After working a whole week 120+ hours, I went to my mum post squash, gym etc and had a bottle of wine,(get the idea?) mum says " wheres Orly" mmmmmmm, I wonder...

turns put Mum planted lots of plants and fed them with bone meal...

Orly had dug them ALL up ,I am talking 3 ft down, Mum was NOT pleased.

Got a laugh your *** off though?:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Oh no .... I bet your Mum wasn't best pleased. Orly is such a character :rotfl2:

Guess What else -
100 day for us today!!!

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Now that sounds like a wonderful restaurant ...... is it a one-off or a chain?

Thanks Amy for the Glee Report ....I have never seen it but it is definitely getting popular over here too. I may just have to check it out as I love musical theatre. Incidentally I saw a documentary on show choirs in the USA last night and apparently they are a really BIG thing in schools. It was really interesting. It amazes me how American schools make such an enormous effort with everything they do ( musical theatre, sport etc) and they have such amazing facilities compared to the schools here.

OK my brain hurts with all these date changes! I've emailed DCL again to ask as I also got an email from them last week with the old dates on. Lets see what they say?

I know .... it's really frustrating isn't it. You would think they would know what they are doing by now :confused3:confused3

Oh Good, I'll keep defending them! :thumbsup2
Throw away gown? Have you seen those TV shows where they make wedding gowns out of toilet paper? :lmao:

Maybe I should see if anyone on the homemade FE gift thread can help me with some crafty TP formal wear :lmao:

Oh no .... there goes my idea for the Candy Swap, I thought Crunchies were pretty much unique to the UK.

I think we get most of the Cadbury's range here... still any chocolate is good chocolate :rotfl:

This might help some make a decision?

Great plan except for one small detail - its middle of winter here so my formal address might be suitable for dinner in the Antarctic ;)

Also, I may have 2 free mini-golf tickets for you. We are staying at the POFQ for the first night b/c we are doing the half-marathon relay on 10/2. And the package includes 2 mini-golf tickets. I know we will not be using them because we only have a few days before flying home so we will spend our time in the parks. If the tickets are just tickets, and not some vouchers with our names on them prohibiting others from using them, they are yours. Let me know if you want them. :thumbsup2

Yes please - we'd love to have them if suitable!

I am staying there and I think Todd is also....

It'll be our first time staying at AKL - its our favourite resort and AK is our favourite park too.

Sounds like you have tons of stuff planned, but there is a place in Orlando that not too many people talk about and it is so much fun - and this is a DCL disboard so I am not being sarcastic, but they have a Titanic exhibit that is phenomenal.

That sounds good - I'll add it to our list.

I did something fun! I went and got new glasses! Here they are:

24881906.jpg

Very cool! I'm looking forward to when I need glasses and can buy a really cool pair. I helped Mum get some new frames a few weeks ago and there were some really neat ones. None with mouse ears though ;)

The weather here is HOT and HUMID! Over 100 degrees and the humidity is 46%

Its sleeting outside at the moment.

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: That's me. I have been trying to find those nice skirted swimsuits I see over in the US. We do have some, but none seem just like those. Or, they are fashion frilly ones. :lmao::lmao::lmao: Also I have seen some skirted tankinis over there with longer tops which would be nice. Over here it seems all tankinis have shorter tighter tops so would show the not too nice midrift!!!!!!!

Track down the May issue (or was it the June issue?) of Oprah magazine - some great pages on how to choose a flattering swimsuit based on your body shape.

I should get our Euros tomorrow - I ordered them today! Best rate in about 4 years apparently (or was last week) but 500 euros was still nearly $NZ1000 - my bank account looks very sad... :confused3

Mum's already panicking about how much money she will need for the UK (she is visiting family there first) just for a few days. Yikes!

If any of you want a cheap holiday, come to New Zealand...

Hershey's isn't good chocolate:sick:, sorry my US friends. Other than that I agree, and used to eat cooking chocolate in my younger days to get my fix!!:lmao:

I forgot about the time of year, for you, that you would be buying a formal dress. I just wish I was a lot younger to be able to enjoy all the lovely fashion out right now.

As far as bathing suits to suit your shape goes, I need everything put together in one suit. You know, petite, fuller figure, top heavy, fat around the midrift, tummy control......get the picture? :scared1: Probably better you don't!!:rotfl2:

Our £/Euro rate is getting better than it was so I hope things continue in that direction as Euro country vacations have been getting very expensive over recent years because of this.

I would love a holiday in NZ. There is so much to see. We had friends round last night who went a few years ago and want to go back.

Hershey's isn't good chocolate:sick:, sorry my US friends. Other than that I agree, and used to eat cooking chocolate in my younger days to get my fix!!:lmao:

Cooking chocolate ....ewwwww :sick::sick:

I actually ate dog chocolate once ... my Mum had bought the dog a dog chocolate easter egg, and I was so desperate for chocolate I pinched a piece. I didn't know it was dog chocolate at the time though.

I actually like Hersheys .... love the cookies and cream bar.

For those of you in the UK, I just ordered myself a credit card from the Post Office ... doesn't charge for foreign transactions worldwide, so I thought it might be useful if I exceed my limit on my Santander Zero card. Very easy to apply for one on line too.:thumbsup2

Does anyone have any ideas about the best place to get your currency. We usually order in advance from Travelex and pick up at the airport .... but there may be better options out there ?????

The other day I received a very sad message from Heather ( GOS ) one of our DIS cruisers, with some tragic news. This is the message I received:

I am sure Heather would have wanted all her DIS friends to know what has happened. Although we personally had never had the pleasure to sail with Rick and Heather, I know many of you did, and we were really looking forward to meeting them on the WBTA, especially after reading about many of their adventures on other trip reports. This sad and tragic news has come as a total shock, I guess you never think that something so terrible is going to happen to a fellow cruiser. Our hearts go out to poor Heather and her family
:hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug:

So sad to hear this news. Such a reminder of how fragile life is for us and we never know what may be round the corner. Prayers and hugs for Heather and family
