Hi everyone! Sure trying to keep up with you all while being gone is hard. We have only a few more days gone then head home on Sunday. Our week in Chicago was great. By the way we did have Gino's East pizza. We prefer that one when we lived there. Indiana was nice seeing family. Now in Phoenix. Holy cow is it hot here! Indiana and Chicago were so humid! The dry heat here is bad. Although, we were in the pools at the resort for 3 hrs yesterday. I got so sunburnt on back! I tried my best putting on the sunscreen, but was I to ask my 3 year old to do it? (since dh is here for work and not with us in the mornings) So, today is an inside day to give my back and shoulders a rest. We took our dd to her first movie last night. It was Toy Story and she just loved it (as did we)! I totally cried! It wasn't due to the movie but thoughts of Emma and her bear that has flown all over the US, Disney cruises and Hawaii. So, guess I realized that someday "bear bear" will be one of those toys that she won't be taking to college. I know everyone keeps telling us these times being young will go by quickly, some days it's just hard to realize that. Anyways, great to catch up with everyone. Also, we did get our excursions we wanted and dinner, but no brunch. So, will try to get it once on board. Although, we have to try and get Flounders at the same time for Logan.

I also talked to his audiologist who suggested that for the insurance claim possibly he 'lost' both hearing aids since she's been wanting to change him to a different model anyway.

Well, now maybe you can get it covered by the insurance. Maybe something good will come out of it. Do you have to front the money? Downpayment? Maybe a blessing in disguise.

You're BAD!!! Now you know I'll have to detour the next time I drive down. Which may be 4th of July weekend. You got any plans??

We were just talking about that. DH wants to go to Vegas but Princess has her school volleyball practice. So we might just be here. Let me know when your concrete and I'll see if I can get a room down there. That would be fun. I'm finally being inspired to use my pts. Only about 3 yrs later. :rotfl2:

I was given one of those pedometers while I was doing WW. I used it in WDW just to see how far I walked on a typical day. One day I walked 9 Miles!!!!! I felt sometimes that the amount of steps it would register or even the mileage may have been off but only a little.

According to Oprah, she doesn't wear underwear under her Spanx :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Oh I'm so addicted to that pedometer. It really does help. This one has to be worn close to the body in a pocket not loosely as that might affect the count. But according to it, depending on the length of walk, I can burn off anywhere from 120 - 200 calories a walk. Doesn't sound like much but on a regular basis, your body adjusts and starts to burn more.

As for Oprah! :worship: Ok - I won't.
:ssst: And I did hear that Beyonce wears two while she's singing on stage.

OK .... what exactly is "spanx" It sounds like some sort of support underwear. I have found that support underwear doesn't get rid of the flab, it just pushes it up or down and so it just sticks out in a different loacation. If it really "works" I will be interested for sure.

Hi and :welcome: aboard. We are Sarah and Tony from Wales, and it is our second DCL cruise.

Might need to invest in a pedometer .... would love one which tells you how many calories you are burning.

Have a wonderful cruise :woohoo::woohoo:

Invest in one - you'll appreciate what you walk. They can be found in any sports store or probably even Target, Wal-mart. But the really cheap ones don't work. Trust me, been there. This one I bought while expensive, is so simple. I didn't have to measure my stride or anything which is what some othres make you do. Good Luck!

Erm, I thought Spanx were underwear and you wouldn't need anything under, eyepatch or otherwise.:confused3;)

Eye patches...1/2 a$$ panties, whatever, these work. And your right, they are made to be used w/o but I like cotton too next to my skin.

Underwear, Hmmmm, I suppose if the spanx have a cotton crutch I wouldn't, If they are all lycra I would. :confused3

Sue, go and try on some Spanx, they really make you feel like you've been poured into a second skin which is far too tight! :scared1:
DH Terry thinks that Spanx are 'false advertising', LOL :rotfl2:
Having said all that, they do work well and I would wear them If I needed them for a specific dress or occasion. :thumbsup2

We'll try not to talk too much, :rotfl2:

Something good may come of it then, I hope so!

Crotch? LOL ....I'll leave that one alone. :lmao:

They are nice though, industrial strength gut holder. Worth an arm or a leg but that's what they are made to hold in which is why we pay an arm and a leg. :rotfl2:

My DH grew up on a lot of Pennsylvania Dutch cooking and he loves what I call the strange stuff. He had a chance to visit Scotland and just loved Haggis!!!

So about the buffets.....gotta love all of the choices!!!! :lmao:
YES,, the buffets, the pudding buffet, sticky toffee pudding.:goodvibes

Glad your having a good time, not sure I want to see ts3 everybody seems to cry!

I have just got a new computer (yea MacBook :woohoo:) and I am able to join the disboard again so you don't have to think I am just a figment of my DD Terapin's imagination. I have been able to read all the posts but I could have filled a bathtub in the time it took my old system to respond. Did I say I loved my MacBook! I have loved reading all your news and look forward to meeting all of you.

...it makes it al flow down to the bottom and gives you enormous ankles!:rotfl2:

Cankles! :rotfl2:

They are called Cankles, where your calf flows straight into your ankle. :lmao:

We've discussed bra's, knickers and spanx, I think the boys will have to fess up soon........jocks or boxers? :rotfl2:

Great minds and all.... :lmao:

As for the men - they are tidy whities, boxers and sports shorts......either way - they're still undies. Although, I did have to ask a question of my DD's BF that's always had me going :scratchin ..... If eye patches weren't invented until like 20 yrs ago, where'd the designer get the idea from? Sports protecters? Yeah - DD was really happy with me on that conversation. That's ok - about time I start getting her back. :rotfl::lmao:

But DD's BF mortified her when he broke into explanation about how they weren't really man thongs - they were more like stir-up ties. OK - I'm trying to keep it clean. It really was a serious question. I thought maybe the designer took the idea from the man-thong. ;)

I'll toss my answer into the ring..................

Well HECK, I must still be stuck in the dark ages. ;):rotfl2:

Well HECK, I must still be stuck in the dark ages. ;):rotfl2:

you made me chuckle.

Any of you guys bringing a mankini:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

When I ran the great north run, a man ran past me in nothing but a mankini, I kept up with him for 4 miles:lmao: my best half marathon time ever:thumbsup2

Just talked to Glenn he would like to play poker too. Not me I am lousy at the game.

I walk at least 1 1/2 hours a day at a brisk pace. DH walks with me on the weekend. I am trying to slowly work up to 2 hours.

If you just start slowly and work up, it seems to be something you can stick to and not feel over tired.

Just my thoughts....
:surfweb:

The danger of this, for me is I've ALWAYS walked. My body has adjusted after like 20 years. So, WHEN I was taking training sessions, I was forbidden to walk as cardio since my body has adjusted to that. I have to use it to maintain. Which my body does maintains at this high level. :confused3 Wish I could fire it.

What style would you recommend. I don't fancy the ones going almost to the knees, but otherwise do you get VPL? also if you get a high waisted one do they stay in place. Thanks!!:thumbsup2

They have verious styles, I have one short one and one high-waisted one. The high-waisted one doesn't seem to roll down on me but remember, I bought mine 1 size big. Maybe that helps. I've bought nylons that would roll down on me which is why I stopped wearing nylons.

INTERESTING NOTE: One day I was buying a pair of nylons (in the egg-shaped container) when my youngest said, what are those? I answered Nylons..she didn't know what they were so I opened the container and showed them to her.....her response? Oh, their Spanx! :rolleyes1

Which is how I came across Spanx.

You must have read my mind!!!

All this talk of "Purses" and "Bras"

We really need to BEEF UP this Forum !!

GRRRR!!!

Pass me a beer....Did you see the soccer today???

I'm going to change the Oil in my Pick up

GRRRR!!!!

:rotfl2:

Or as he would say in Spanish - GGRRRR!!!!

LAdies for them who have them, dont the spanx roll up at your thighs?
Thats why I got the tights, but they are blooming expensive if you put your finger through them after one wear:rolleyes1

I haven't had the problem but they do stretch out a bit at the top.

you made me chuckle.

Any of you guys bringing a mankini:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

When I ran the great north run, a man ran past me in nothing but a mankini, I kept up with him for 4 miles:lmao: my best half marathon time ever:thumbsup2

OH yeah! I'd run my best time too if he was all that. :lmao:

Sorry, yes truly scrumptious.

I dont know what to say ! I mean who can afford that?
How ??? cool would that be?
Bill Gates?
Richard Branson?

Not me anyway:teacher:

What is so scary is that I didn't even blink at the prices!! About what houses sell for in my neighborhood these days. California real estate in certain areas still has high valuation.

I am so looking forward to the cruise especially since my other DGD, R, is joining us. This is the first cruise for both of us and we are both very excited. We are girly-girls and really look forward to the dressing up nights. We were talking about the cruise last week and the subject of pirate night came up. One of the favourite games we played together when she and her sister were young was "pirates". I have some great pictures of us in our pirate get-ups. Now we get to do it again - what fun!

I am also taking the ABD London and Paris, Cities of Knights and Lights tour. Has any one on this board taken the trip or in fact are taking the Sept./10 trip?

Someone from the Board was kind enough to supply me with the email address for a walking tour in London and I have lost it. Does anyone have that address?

I am flying with BA to London and they are allowing 2 checked bags, a carry-on and a purse. Does anyone know if they will allow a bag to carry my cpap machine in addition to the carry-on or will it be considered the carry-on I don't want to check it.

I am flying with Veuling from Paris to Barcelona. Does anyone know if I can pay for an additional checked bag as they only allow one?

Perhaps I will only wear old clothes in London and Paris. I can just throw them out as I wear them. That way I won't have any laundry, won't have to worry about Vueling and get a lot more space to bring home new stuff. :laundy: :thumbsup2

As for Spanx (sorry gentlemen :rolleyes1) I purchased a full length one piece garment from "Body Wrap. It was less expensive than Spanx and very comfortable. They have both normal and tall sizes - a good thing for a tall woman like me.

My DD Terapin has been very busy making plans and reservations for us. I have told her if she gives up her current line of work she could be a professional vacation planner. She took care of this for us for our last two trips to Disney World and we had a great time. We got to see everything we wanted to see with very few line-ups. Thanks Sweetie. :lovestruc

I just realized that you live in Berkshire, so you may not know what my reference was related to! Tim played a character on a show called "Home Improvement" years ago. Not sure if that ever aired across the pond or not. If not, understand Tim's character hosted a TV show called "Tool Time", which was a how-to-do-it-yourself kind of show. He always had these grunts he made to express manhood!

Yeah we had Home Improvement here in the UK, in fact it played on one of the main TV channels, so was pretty popular. In fact i think i've got a "Binford Tool" Baseball cap around here somewhere from WDW.

I googled and got this:

Haggis is a dish containing sheep's 'pluck' (heart, liver and lungs), minced with onion, oatmeal, suet, spices, and salt, mixed with stock, and traditionally simmered in the animal's stomach for approximately three hours. Most modern commercial haggis is prepared in a casing rather than an actual stomach. There are also meat-free recipes for vegetarians.

The haggis is a traditional Scottish dish memorialised as the national dish of Scotland by Robert Burns' poem Address to a Haggis in 1787. Haggis is traditionally served with "neeps and tatties" (Scots: swede, yellow turnip or rutabaga and potatoes, boiled and mashed separately) and a "dram" (i.e. a glass of Scotch whisky), especially as the main course of a Burns supper. However it is also often eaten with other accompaniments, or served with a whisky-based sauce.

I used to hear my Scottish grandmother talk about haggis - I knew there was reason my mom never served it. She probably didn't like it either:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Welcome back!! Sounds like you guys have some great plans!!

I didn't see your name on Carolyn's list for the Madeira tour. Was that an oversight? Just checking as I am trying to get as accurate of a count as possible. If it was an oversight, just pm me and I will add you. If not, I will just leave your name off the list.

My Goodness,

I'm not sure i'll be able to look at any of you girls on the cruise in the same light... ;)

I'll keep wondering if you're all wearing magical undergarments that make you, smaller, thiner, taller, flatter......

On second thoughts i think i might get a pair!!!:rotfl:

OK - I've got a few bites on the poker. I did talk to DH about it, and he said, that a tournament style game will take minimum of 4 hrs. "We'd have to schedule it on a day that's no so busy." Um, apparently, DH has forgotten we will be on the sea for 6 straight days. (or is it 5?) Um, yeah, I think we MIGHT be able to find some time on one of those days. Anyway, I'll give it a few more days for others to catch up. DH says he "could" probably run something if anyone is interested. :rolleyes1

Hi, I spoke to Carolynn and she said she thinks she remembers telling you that her 5 (under Terapin) and I (under Tru) along with my granddaughter, R, would be interested. That would make 7 in total. If not please add R and I. Thanks very much.

BRUNCH

I have just been onto the Disney Cruise site, on bookings for our Cruise and saw that there were openings for Brunch (2 people). I dont know how many places, but hope that somebody might be able to take advantage of this and be able to get a booking.
I was lucky enough to get a booking on Sunday at the opening time, but I know some of you couldnt get a booking.
