ATTENTION MATES!!!!!

For those that are looking for durable lightweight luggage I have found a deal that I am doing .....I have always traveled internationally with wheeled duffles cause you get more in them cause they weight less ....I am replacing my duffles that I have been using since the last TA and they have gone from Barcelona, to the Philippines , the caribbean and through the PC and have been great .... I was searching for new ones for this trip and came across a great deal ... these are only 37.49 and shipping is only 2.95 no matter how many you order .... I took advantage of this offer

I didn't even look into pounds. I was so excited about this exchange rate! I was just thinking to go for something everybody can take. If I happen to see olives in the Barcelona airport, I am all over that. I can go on and on about the olives because I have never tasted olives like the ones in Spain. Okay, I am done the olive rant!

As long as you have cash, who cares:laughing:

I hate olives, Its so silly cause I love nearly everything as long as its vegi I will eat it, it was so long that I had been saying I didnt like olives, I thought I would try them again as all my family love them, well, I tried them last year, and NO, they are still horrible. I love oil though, esp I love fried eggs in olive oil.

Todd these look great and I would love one since my luggage is falling apart, but can they hold a week's worth of clothes and shoes? Yours has been to a lot of places so I take it they can withstand a beating by the airports and DCL - not to insult any males out there, including yourself, but can it handle the stuff that women pack? I REALLY don't mean that as an insult, but an honest question. I would love to order one!

I'm confused! What type of currency do we need in the ports starting in Barcelona? Euros, GBP? Please help!

Gibralter takes pounds or pound sterling - I always get that mixed up, but they also take Euros. I just got Euros because all the other ports will take that, until we get to the Caribbean. Last time I went to Gibralter, it was a disaster. I only took my credit card, the restaurant I ate at, took no credit cards and every bank, their currency for US was down. I still get a sick feeling in my stomach. Anyway, we managed thanks to our angel who was sitting in the restaurant and paid for our lunch. I promise this will NOT happen again and for 2 people to eat lunch, I am taking 100 Euros. Now you know how much that pained me!!!!

These hold alot ...my last ones which were the same size , when I went to the Philippines I was able to get in 11 pairs of shorts , 2 swim shorts , 3 pairs of jeans , about 18 shirts , two pairs of shoes and of course underwear and socks and undershirts ...came in right at 48.5 pounds ....so thats why I love these ...they only weigh 8 pounds so that allows for 42 punds of clothing ...LOL :rotfl2:

Thanks Captain! :thumbsup2 I clicked on your link and was poking around the site and I found some PacSafe bags!!!! I've been thinking about getting one for the trip but they are a little pricey and kinda bulky. Well I found one on this site and it was cheap and more purse-like so I got it. I would suggest going to the PacSafe site to see a video if you want to see how much room is inside the bag. It looks like I can get plenty in there. Here is the link (I tried to include the link for the Pacsafe site but link will not work but you can get to it through a general web search...sorry):

Transatlantic Bag

The same time you book your shore excursions. If you are conceirge or Platinum that would be midnight tonight. Gold would be June 5, ect.

aw, a bit later for us then as this will be our 5th DCL cruise.....pirate:

You REALLY need to try the olives in Spain. My husband hates olives and he swears there is nothing like an olive from Spain. He won't eat them in the US! Thanks Captain, I love your description of what you packed - I am going to buy!!!!! Glad you were not insulted.:rotfl::rotfl:

UKANGEL - I promise not to make olives a FE gift!!!

I just received this from my travel agent: I don't know if this will help anyone, but I thought I would pass it along::thumbsup2

I just wanted to give everyone the heads up on currency exchange onboard the Magic. From what I saw with guest onboard they were very surprised when they could not get Euros onboard without US or other currency to exchange it with. Many thought they could charge it to their onboard account.
To get Euros onboard you need cash or traveler’s cheques. You cannot use a credit card to get Euros. The ship does not have an ATM. They will only accept one personal checkup to $200 USD . That is one check for the length of the sailing. For the Mediterranean Euros were good in all ports.

Tunisia does have it's own currency but you cannot not exchange it ahead of time. Most merchants will take Euros so there is no need to exchange it once you get there. If you do exchange it to their currency you would have to change it back since they do not allow it to leave the country. I also recommend that if you have clients going to Tunisia that you suggest they stick with a DCL excursion. We heard many guest who had issues who explored on their own. There was a DCL excursions that was an hour late coming back so DCL had to hold the ship. Tunisia was the only port that we had to show our passports in. Otherwise I suggest leaving the passports on the ship in the safe.

This happened to me - but Disney said only $100 check cash max per stateroom. I reported this on the boards as soon as I got back - it was my big issue with disney on this cruise because the wording was in a way you thought you could do it on your account - and you could not! They will take Travelers Cheques (they are like cash) and cash for exchange. While I will take some Euros on this trip ahead of time - I will be carrying travelers cheques that I can exchange at anytime but have the safety of TC. - When I get home if I have any left over I just deposit them into my account. I just found out you can order American Express Travelers Cheques online - using a credit card - and just pay shipping. for me the shipping is cheaper than the fee my bank charges I think and I can use it to get Disney Reward Points to spend on the cruise!

We use them and can get most items for 3 of us in 2 of them - but we have the drop bottom one so the shoes go in the that part! I got ours at Sam's club for $39

I highly recommend the green Spanish olives stuffed with (don't gasp) anchovies. I hate seafood as a rule but love these olives!

DW and I were in Madrid one time having cocktails at the Melia Castilla. She asked the waiter about the olives so he brought her a whole can (restaurant sized!) to take home! :lmao:

It will be - come with us!!!

I was going to ask if anybody has a laminating machine? I went to the laminator today for some FE stuff and magnets and he wanted $1.99 a page! I have LOTS of pages. I saw one in Michael's for $19.99 but wanted to know if anybody has a brand they recommend. I think it would be cheaper if I did it.

We have a laminating machine. Ours was made by 3M. It works great! :)

Thank you for the info, I am going to Michael's tomorrow.

Todd or Krisann - my DH has one question about the luggage. Do they fold up to put under the bed on the cruise?

The olives sound delicious - I don't like anchovies, but would be willing to try.

How many people and is it worth asking the concierge if they can assist?

That would be great. This is the list I have now:

Afternoon Tea List

OK - I will see if we can get 16 spots.

I am booking some things on my own and then I have a call booked with them in the morning. Fingers crossed!!

I have an update, I will be having Tea with Angie and Dennis, if allowed by Palo I might join the group, but won't know that until after boarding the ship.

Thanks Todd - appreciate it! Goofy Granny might want to do Tea, but she is only on in the morning. It might be too late by then.

Cannot wait to read the boards tomorrow and see what everyone booked!
