Would love to post a picture of my baby, just have to work out how to. :thumbsup2
You need to put it out on photobucket.com or something similar, and then use the image link. Let me know if you need help!

No problem getting a birthday button, My daughter wore hers for our entire 24 day trip back in September 2008!
Last year we got our anniversary button when we boarded and wore it until it was replaces at AK.

See, this is why I love Disboards, Everyone is willing to go above and beyond to help a fellow Dis'er!!! Thanks so much Sue, Can I return the favour with anything from Australia, or at least cover your postage costs? :flower3:
Sent you a PM - nothing in return is necessary, but if you feel like you must, just drop something in our FE!

Oh Sue, I am loving you today!!! I am so excited to start my first lot of FE's, well, I've started the kids already. Now I can finalise everything. My husband thinks I'm obsessed and carzy! :goodvibes

Well, at least I am not alone... Glenn probably thinks I am certifiable! I broke the news to him today that I had a full suitcase of FE gifts, candy for CM's. candy for the chocolate/candy swap, magnets for the door (to be changed daily) and the scanveger hunt prize. You should have seen his face... Priceless...

My only fear about the trip now is that we will weigh the suitcases and be 16 pounds over and the car service will be outside...

I just get on the scale and DH hands me a piece of luggage.

We use our home scale. I checked it against my physician's scale and our is one pound more than theirs. I am going to try to be 5 pounds under the max weight so there are no questions.

For those of you worried about the weight restrictions, I just have to plug the Balanzza handheld luggage scale. We have used ours for our last 3 cruises and it works like a dream! We've taken luggage that weighs 49.8 pounds per our scale and had it weigh exactly the same on the airport scale. It is so much easier to measure and re-adjust in the comfort of your room rather than trying to do it at the airpot. Our does both pounds and kg. While it is a bit of a feat to lift 50 pounds in a way that doesn't touch anything else, it has been our best travel accessory for the past few years!

Shame it wasn't the 4th as thats my birthday!

Had a trial run with our cases yesterday and we should just about do it, who comes up with these stupid weight restrictions:rotfl: don't they know crusiers need outfits:lmao: (20kgs):scared1:

Hadn't thought about the midnight timing, so I will be able to say I was at Disney on my birthday:dance3: do you think I'd be able to get a birthday button as I really want one:sad: I've been going to disney since 79 and never been on or near my birthday before:rotfl:
luckily we also have a 10kg hand luggage allowance which I'll be using for more clothes.

Of course you can have a birthday button. To be honest I think most birthday buttons are pinned on folk who are nowhere near their birthdays!!! Enjoy wearing it!!

You can always put in your cruise reservation that you are celebrating your birthday, and then your server will ask which night you want to celebrate. They'll bring out a birthday button and cake at that time. It doesn't have to be your actual birthday. Enjoy!!

Hi everyone.... I apologize for not getting back on the board in a couple of days but I thought I would pass on some information to you....

Gold and Platinum members (5 completed cruises and over) receive $25 back from every $100 that you spend at Treasure Ketch... the catch... it has to be bought at any one time...so add up before in order to get the credit.

I travelled with a friend and we each received the gifts...ie two gifts per stateroom.

A case of water is $40.00 for 24 bottles :scared1:

IMHO - we did the Barcelona spanish village, tapas and Flamenco dancers in 2007..... this trip Disney had a fabulous family of 19 people come on board that were amazing...far better than what we saw on the tour.

In Gibralter, avoid booking the rock, caves and tunnel through Disney as it is so much more expensive... as you get off the ship before you leave the port there are small vans that costs 25 Euro per person that drive you right up to the caves, monkey etc and it included admission to the sites... also if you have anyone with walking problems, I would recommend this tour over Disney as the Disney buses are too large to go right up on the top where the tunnels are and one has to walk up hill a bit.

Barcelona has Hop on Hop off buses and they have 2 separate tours that are both covered by one ticket.

In Madeira, we also rented a private taxi and were very pleased with the experience.... also much much cheaper then through Disney... Make sure you get out and 'smell' as they grow Eucalyptus trees there. Madeira was truly beautiful.

We also did the Catamaran tour through Disney (69 Dollars) and it was 4 hours long... we did see tons of spotted dolphins, however whales are a rarity although this is one of the things that they say you can see,, no guarantees, ... it took almost 2.5 hours to see any dolphins and the water was very rough... 4 people were sick while on the catamaran, so take some meds with you.... I also noticed that the catamaran took non disney people for about 12 Euros.

We did have a Pirate in the Carribbean Night

For those of you travelling with children... they had an overnight stay for the kids at the club, a princess tea, and of course the character breakfast. (My kids were not with me in April - so I did not pay too much attention, however if you want I can always check the navigators.

On the way over we will gain an hour almost every night which is much better then what we had to do on the way over.

On a personal note..... Don't have 3 Peach Martini's in a row at the Promenade Lounge without eating lunch first :rolleyes1:rolleyes1......

Don Ducky Williams will be on board again for the upcoming cruise and they premiered the new Villans show while on board so the Eastbound Trans had a lithograph of the Villans and I have no clue what they will give out on the Westbound...

For fellow Canadians, if you are travelling out of Toronto on AC.... they are picky about the one bag rule or you pay 30 dollars for the second checked bag, however on the way home.... no one seemed to care at all... even though my friend had 100 lbs to bring home... I think she found a treasure somewhere along the way :confused3

I hope this is helpful for some of you...

Denise

Hi Lisa,

Glenn is doing pictures tonight. I have Geoff down for the Mojito tasting - was that the only one?

Oh great! Thanks! Yes, Geoff wanted to do the Mojito and the beer one. Just saw he's on both lists. Thanks! Also, I had emailed you that we would like the t-shirts too.

As Sarah (TotallyAngelic) is off at Mousemeets UK today I thought I would step into the breech and just say......

In 20 Weeks time at this time (itll be 2:40pm in Barcelona) we should all be on the MAGIC!!!

:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

I can't wait. I hope i'm all healed to then. I went for a physical therapy on Friday. There i had had a console on the damage. my right arm and hand i have most of my range on motion but only 40 to 50 percent of my normal strength. My left arm and hand i have about 30 percent of motion and 5 to 10% of normal strength. I'm still having a good amount so swelling in my hands so i have to wear compression gloves. They said minimally a month to get back to normal, but she said it could take months. I can't lift more then 15 lb, do repetitive motion, do anything with major vibration and keep typing and driving to a minimum. I'm bored out of my mind it work, because i fix copiers and do IT work so right know I have very little to do. At least the cruise is coming up fast.

So sorry you are having so many problems with your arm and hand. I hope you are able to get some physical therapy that helps you heal quicker.

Hi Everyone!

Because it is too early to pack (although we are trying to figure out how to do a weight check) I decided to do something else cruise related! So, I worked on the FE lists. I have 3 groups that are full with 15 cabins and between 35-40 individauls with 8 of those being the little kids. These are the PAPAYAS, KIWIS, and PINEAPPLES. I am still filling the POMEGRANATES group. The last group has a couple of people that may have dropped, and some questions that reamin outstanding, but as of right now there are 11 cabins, 34 individuals and 11 kids - so it is very close to being closed. Once that is full I will start another group with the late comers.

I will be updating page one shortly withthe new groups. I consider these locked - although I guess we could still get cancellations until May 21. If anyone drops I will see where we are and go from there. (So, if you are in a locked group - no dropping the trip!! )

Happy weekend everyone!
Sue

Right, if you are on the list then you now HAVE to go, no turning back now!
:rotfl::rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: What a visual that was!!

What I meant is my weight is accurate to within one pound. I just get on the scale and DH hands me a piece of luggage.

Just my thoughts,,,
:surfweb:

We have used our Wii Fit board to weigh ours.:rolleyes1 But we bought a luggage scale so now we are set!

Thanks Denise that is very informative.

My boys will love the Character breakfast and the sleepover.

My DH and I have been discussing whether to book a Disney tour in Gibraltar or do it ourselves and you have helped us decide. One question though if you don't mind? Can you get to the World War 2 tunnels whilst up on the rock yourself or do you need to get another taxi to them?

When we were in Nassau we went to Atlantis ourselves and had the Disney tour following behind us the whole way! We saved a lot of money that day and I liked being able to enjoy the day at our leisure.

Wow you have been a chatty bunch since I last checked in!

Welcome to those just joining us and congrats to those now PIF!

Very cool. I think we've already decided to do one at a specific room but happy to change this if needed. I think the idea was to donate the books at the end of the cruise like on the last WBTA. I think Paula was going to host the adult book exchange bag

Just to clarify, its a general book exchange, not just "adult" books which has some unsavoury connotations :rotfl:

Gosh, maybe we can get some guidance from the EBTA people, but I thought that it was pretty cold on the TA part of the cruise. I thought I remembered that people were sitting around with blankets? :confused3 I was thinking long pants/fleece for that.
?

It can get cool out on the decks I have found on a couple of the cruises I've done. I have a light weight fleece jumper that I virtually lived in on our last cruise. I find some areas inside overly airconditioned too. We'll be needing to take warmer clothes to wear out of NZ anyway, as it will be early spring when we leave and also we are going to DL at the end of the trip and by mid-Oct, it could be fairly chilly in the evenings. Layers...

I read this thread at least twice a day and I`m sorry for being such an infrequent poster - but as I`ve nothing useful to add......
I`ll slink back to lurkdom for awhile :goodvibes

Please don't lurk, just jump in wherever.

I am planning to use disney shampoo and stuff, are you buying suntan lotion to take or buying it in spain.
What about you guys?
For you transatlantic experts......... Do you think they will run out of shampoo and stuff or will they have plenty.

Well with cutting all my hair off in less than two weeks time, I'm thinking I probably won't get through much of the stuff they give me anyway ;)

At the Disney hotels we have stayed at we end up with piles of extras even though we don't use anything but the shower gel and hand soap. I think I could have filled a suitcase some times.:lmao: We leave it all there apart from an odd shower gel and soap.

I'm still using the stuff we got on our last trip, I ration it but now I'm using it daily as I know I'll be getting more soon. Just the smell of it takes me back to the last trip, even for just a few seconds when having a shower.

On our cruises, however, we wear ties to dinner every single night----we wear DISNEY ties!! This all started on our last TA cruise, the EBTA in 2007. On that cruise we decided we were going to bring a different disney-themed tie for every night of the cruise----and the tradition has stuck! Sometimes we wear the same matching tie....sometimes we wear coordinating ties (like they are different ties but have the same character and/or film theme)...sometimes we just wear whatever ties that don't go together at all....but we wear Disney ties every night.

This is totally brilliant!!! I hope we get to see you every night to check out your ties!

The pics of the Hyatt Hotel at Orlando gives me nightmares!!!
On our B2B2B in 2007, just past midnight an young man jumped off the 6th floor and landed in the dry water fountain. Our room had a balcony, we saw everything:scared1::scared1::scared1: The next morning the hotel and DCL said nothing about it. Im so glad they said nothing. Not a great way
to start a cruise!:sad2:

I'm so sorry you had to see that! :sad2:

Think i'll be packing a few to enjoy on the cruise, can't go 3 weeks without a decent cuppa. (gosh i'm so english) :lmao:

My Mum hasn't lived in the UK for 30 years and she's already talking about whether to take teabags with her or to get some along the way :rotfl:

Denise, thanks for all the information!!:thumbsup2

OMG!!! Too excited, If I were my puppy I would have just peed! :rotfl:

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I hope things heal quicker than they say. Having a hand/arm out of commission is so difficult even without all the accompanying pain.:headache:

We have used our Wii Fit board to weigh ours.:rolleyes1 But we bought a luggage scale so now we are set!

The Wii Fit board ALWAYS weighs me a lot more than I know I really am!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
However that would give you a lot of extra packing weight to use!!!!!;)

Bob and Dawn came down to Harrogate for the weekend and we had a great time!!! We know them from another board, and have met them in Orlando before. You will love them. We had a lot of laughs.

Unfortunately Bob had a bad cold and so they didn't do all they wanted to do locally, but we got to see them for 2 meals out and 2 coffee meets!!!:cool1: One of the coffee meets also included another couple who came all the way over from Lancashire(how brave of them!!!) to join us. John and I hadn't met them before, but isn't it great how having a common love of Disney brings us all together.:dance3:

Yes, I'll get onto that photobucket thing!
It will be a pleasure to bring something 'Australian' for your family! :thumbsup2
DH is happy for me to pack as much as I like on the way over, as long as I get rid of it all to make room for shopping in the USA!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

The good news is, Hopefully you won't need to lift more than 15lb, do repetitive motion, vibrate or type too much on the cruise!

Just wanted to write a quick note to say I am so glad I found all of you! Being part of this Dis group of crazy planners and beautiful friendly people makes the lead up to our first cruise so much more special and exciting.
Thank-you to everyone! :flower3::flower3::flower3:

Sue you are a star!

My brain doesn't cope very well with anything! Except Disney! :lmao:
Would love to post a picture of my baby, just have to work out how to. :thumbsup2

It seems a bit hit and miss, Bazaar?:confused3

It completely is! I litterally sent the same email both times but the first time they said no and second they said yes!

Don't worry, Dan thinks I'm obsessed too! I come on here about 3 times a day and he just rolls his eyes. Mind you he then comes home from work and says "I see such and such happened today" so I know hes lurking on here!
