I am so happy! When looking at the DCL website today I realized that cat 11s opened up for 3 people (had previously not been there at all, or only for 2 people). I was able to move one of the kids from our cat 5 to the cat 11 and saved over $200 with just that simple move! I am thrilled to not have to pay that this close to PIF - we are scrambling to come up with the money without resorting to credit cards with DH's scanty work these days. Yay!

Just like Pam we maybe back on board!! I started a new job in Oct after being out of work for 15 months and thought it wasn't a good time to try to be planning such a long cruise but guess what I was reading and lurking the whole time and I can't tear myself away since we already know some of you from our Double Dip in '08 and our NYE cruise so tomorrow I am going to talk to my boss and see if I can get the time off and if the answer is yes (please e/o think pixie dust:tinker::tinker: for me tomorrow) we will be back on!!! So please e/o keep me in your thoughts tomorrow I work for a school district doing A/P so Sept is very busy I know I am going to have to make some big promises but I know it will be worth it!!

That would be so awesome! Wishing you loads of pixie dust!!!

Good morning all!

The ash thing is really putting a crimp in everyone's plans. A bunch of Brits from my husband's company were supposed to fly here for a week long meeting starting this Sunday. Needless to say, they cancelled the meeting this morning.:headache:

I really need to plan what we are doing in each port... Signing up for the excursions is creeping up on me!

Do you think we should start posts for each port and try to gather the best links together? (or is that too much work?)

I would be willing to be in charge of gathering all the Gibraltar information posted from this point forward, if you all think that it would help.

I could post links to the port posts on the afternoon tea list.

Let me know what you all think!

Kathy

I too am totally confused about port activities. We are first time cruisers with 2 x DD (8 & 9), so we have no idea, Any tips would be appreciated.

Something else that my kids did on the EBPC cruise was the Coast to Coast sleepover in the Club. They had a blast! They actually stay all night. I think we picked them up at 7:30 am. If I remember correctly, you do need to sign up for that soon after getting the kids set up in the clubs. :)

Krista

That sounds fantastic, 1 whole night of peace for Mummy and Daddy, Yay!!:cool1:

Hi everyone!

I know I haven't posted in a while, but Mike and I are still in. I know we've had lots of turnover.

What I was wondering is that our final payment is due this week, but this volcano thing worries me a bit. We don't buy insurance until final payment and by now this volcanic eruption is considered a known entity and wouldn't be covered. Anyone else worried about that?

I am hearing the fallout from this volcano could go on for months. I'm not sure how long the volcano has to be dormant before it's considered a different event. If you buy your insurance through Disney, they don't purchase till final payment is due also, right?

Just trying to gage everyone's feelings.

It would be my luck to be stranded stateside in September because of a volcano that erupted in April.

Signed, the Calamity Jane of Travel

Gosh, I didn't realise it was that bad! We have to come from Australia so I don't think there would be any way to bypass it! Fingers crossed it clears soon!:worship:

I dont mean to belittle your worries,I know they are real. but it depends on your nature, I personaly dont see the point in worrying about stuff like that, I have lost so many friends and family when they were way too young to be lost , I try not to worry about stuff I cant control.

BUT my Mum would and will worry about stuff like this.

But you are right, the volcano could go on for 18months, but:confused: but what can you do?
There are also other volcanos in iceland that could erupt, never mind this one.
I am sure there are lots of other mad things that could happen ,lets face it,noboday predicted this a week ago!!

Maybe you could call disney and ask about the insurance. If you are worried you need to get it sorted in your mind.

Corrina, glad you are getting sorted, good luck with all your travel plans.

:cool1:scotland seems to be good to go starting tom.

True, No point in worrying about something that is totally out of your hands :confused3

Can you board the ship at a later port??? i mean if i miss the ship at Barcelona can i hotfoot it over to Gibraltar and climb aboard there???

Otherwise i'm planning to get a row boat and chase you across the Atlantic!

SW

I'm gonna need a sturdy row boat and lots of muscles coming from Australia!:rotfl:

BIG NEWS!!!! I found the OBC card! After going through all our shredding for the past year and then our papers from last year I found it!!!!! When I called DCL they said they had found where they had it too. We had upgraded and when we switched it didn't get switched to our new ressie. Oh well! Who cares at least now I have proof of it. Thanks to everyone for helping!!! I'm on cloud nine!!!

Just checking in!!

Gus and I went to Food & Wine at DCA yesterday and man, are those White Cheddar Cheese Mini Bread Bowls delicious!!!

BTW, the crowds for the final Electrical Parades are insane!! We waited over a hour for a decent spot (about 6 people back) and by the time it started it was at least 40 people deep. :scared1: I couldn't even see where the crowd behind us ended. I do not like! I think we said our good-bye last night because I'm not doing that again anytime soon!

DH and I were at the "first" showing of the parade at Disneyland. Everyone was pulling a wagon behind them with big batteries to light up the floats and their clothing. Needless to say... it improved !:lmao:
And we were at the last showing of the parade:sad1:
So now we see the shorter version of it at CA.:woohoo:

Lynne... thanks. The race was abit tough, we had wind. And you'll be seeing me do the first Transatlantic 5K !!!:lmao: About 10 laps around the ship should do.pirate:

Welcome back Pam!!!

I did have a lovely hol, very realxing, we laughed a lot.:goodvibes

Welcome back Lynne, pleased to hear you had a wonderful relaxing break. See you in 12 days :woohoo:

I think I might have found a solution for getting to Barcelona and I am actually quite excited about this. We were supposed to fly out on Thursday so we have two nights accommodation booked in Barcelona anyway. I found this morning that there is a Portsmouth Santander ferry that leaves on Wednesday at 11:00 and gets into Santander at Midday the following day. From Santander, there are regular trains to Madrid that take 4.5 hours. From Madrid there are then lots of high-speed trains to Barcelona that take about 2.5 hours. I checked the timings and we could be in Barcelona at 22:48 on the Thursday. That still gives us the whole of Friday in hand if something goes wrong or to explore Barcelona if everything goes according to plan. Now I just have to convince my employer to let me take two additional days leave.

If I can't get the additional leave, then there is a plan B. There are regular ferries from Portsmouth to Le Havre so we could get on the 11 PM ferry on Thursday, which would get us to Le Havre by 8:00 AM on Friday. From there we would have to get a train to Paris and then Paris to Barcelona. This might be cutting it a bit fine, but it still should work.

Keep your fingers crossed that I can get the additional leave.

Corinna

Hope everything works out for you Corinna. I don't know what the volcano update is for this morning, but hopefully you will be able to fly. If not I hope the contingency plans work out. I have family due to fly to Orlando today from Manchester, don't know what is happening for them, as they will be so disappointed.:sad2:

I really hope so. I am in the process of completing the online check in for the cruise and will start packing in a minute.

Corinna

WOW packing .... you must be so excited :yay::yay::yay::yay:

....check your PM's, please! I just sent you all a PM with some info/details I need as we move forward with lanyards!

I haven't had a PM, so not sure if you have our names. I know I sent them twice. If it is too late now worries.

I have looked at Erics post again and I think he is refering to the wonderful people who have volunteered to pay for the lanyards, sorry for any confusion :goodvibes

Yes, that is a possibility, but hopefully not one I have to resort to. We don't go to Gibraltar. Sunday is a sea day and then it is on to Malta on Monday and Tunis on Tuesday.

Well done on being able to change and save money.

pixiedust: I hope that you can join us.

Well, I got into work yesterday, got my additional two days off sorted and let DH know. By the time I managed to get this sorted, the ferry to Spain (which would have been our first choice) was no longer available. So DH booked a highspeed ferry from Portsmouth to Le Havre instead. The ferry will leave tomorrow morning. We will head down to Portsmouth by train later this afternoon. From Le Havre we have to make our way to Paris somehow, but the trains are relatively frequent and quite quick. We will have the rest of Wednesday and pretty much all of Thursday in Paris before we get on an overnight train to Barcelona getting us there Friday morning.

I am seriously tempted to spend Thursday at Disneyland Paris. I have been many times, but always in late November and in December when the Christmas decorations are up. I would love to see it in spring and as I am in Paris anyway, it would be a shame not to go.

I am just so excited about this whole adventure. I have to print the last of the documents out, do some laundry, finish off some magnets and ring the hotel in Barcelona to advise them that we will arrive Friday morning instead of tomorrow. I will also try to get through to the airline to check if we can just use the return portion of the ticket.

Corinna
