Disney joins SeaWorld offering free passes to travelers stranded by volcano

Walt Disney World said this afternoon that it has decided to offer free admission to travelers stuck in Orlando, as flights to and from Europe continue to be canceled because of an erupting volcano in Iceland.Disney said it will offer one-day park hoppers on both Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. The complimentary passes will also include admission to Disney’s two water parks.Guests seeking the ticket will have to show a canceled plane ticket or expired boarding pass and a photo ID. Disney says it will also waive its $14-per-day parking charge.

Disney follows SeaWorld Orlando, which began offering free tickets to stranded travelers on Sunday. The International Drive water park Wet ‘n Wild is also offering free admission.

UPDATE: In addition, Universal Orlando is offering free one-day admission to both of its theme parks through Wednesday. The resort is also offering guests currently staying in one of its three on-site hotels the chance to remain at their rooms at 50 percent off the regular rates. And Universal says it is not charging cancellation fees for those who booked through Universal’s in-house vacation package company and whose planes have been disrupted by the ongoing eruption.Disney World also says it is offering Florida Resident discount hotel rates to travelers impacted by the volcano.

Haven't signed on for a couple of days and had a hard time finding you.

Yesterday I had an endoscopic ultrasound and biopsy of the growth on my pancreas and can you believe after the third test it is still not 100% certain that it is not a cancerous growth. The good news is the doctor was able to drain all the fluid off the growth and they will have the results in a couple of days. He did say he is almost 100% certain it is a benign cyst, but it has to be watched on a yearly basis if the biosy results are negative. He seemed pretty positive so I have decided I am not going to worry about it and take it as it comes. I am just tired of having tests done. This was test number 4. I did tell him if the biopsy is positive he has to get me so I travel for this cruise and he said he did not see why we cold not do that. Just thinking positive thoughts.

Because of everything I have been going through with this Joi told me to upgrade us from a cat 9 to a cat 5 so I did and paid in full. I am really looking forward to this cruise.

Just like Pam we maybe back on board!! I started a new job in Oct after being out of work for 15 months and thought it wasn't a good time to try to be planning such a long cruise but guess what I was reading and lurking the whole time and I can't tear myself away since we already know some of you from our Double Dip in '08 and our NYE cruise so tomorrow I am going to talk to my boss and see if I can get the time off and if the answer is yes (please e/o think pixie dust for me tomorrow) we will be back on!!! So please e/o keep me in your thoughts tomorrow I work for a school district doing A/P so Sept is very busy I know I am going to have to make some big promises but I know it will be worth it!!

BIG NEWS!!!! I found the OBC card! After going through all our shredding for the past year and then our papers from last year I found it!!!!! When I called DCL they said they had found where they had it too. We had upgraded and when we switched it didn't get switched to our new ressie. Oh well! Who cares at least now I have proof of it. Thanks to everyone for helping!!! I'm on cloud nine!!!

(but now you have me wondering if I need to contact my TA and have them make sure OUR "extra obc" followed along with our upgrade too.... or if having the cards with us as proof will be enough? but then we'd have to "mess" with that on the cruise... might need to contact our TA LOL)

I have a feeling with the "timing" of this--- and how gas prices usually go up around this time of year- that we're not going to get the refund/OBC.
Which would be easier to live with- if everyone had to pay it. But the way it stands- kinda feels like punishment for booking sooner than others.

Do we need a sign-up list?

I am so happy! When looking at the DCL website today I realized that cat 11s opened up for 3 people (had previously not been there at all, or only for 2 people). I was able to move one of the kids from our cat 5 to the cat 11 and saved over $200 with just that simple move! I am thrilled to not have to pay that this close to PIF - we are scrambling to come up with the money without resorting to credit cards with DH's scanty work these days. Yay!

Well, I got into work yesterday, got my additional two days off sorted and let DH know. By the time I managed to get this sorted, the ferry to Spain (which would have been our first choice) was no longer available. So DH booked a highspeed ferry from Portsmouth to Le Havre instead. The ferry will leave tomorrow morning. We will head down to Portsmouth by train later this afternoon. From Le Havre we have to make our way to Paris somehow, but the trains are relatively frequent and quite quick. We will have the rest of Wednesday and pretty much all of Thursday in Paris before we get on an overnight train to Barcelona getting us there Friday morning.

I am seriously tempted to spend Thursday at Disneyland Paris. I have been many times, but always in late November and in December when the Christmas decorations are up. I would love to see it in spring and as I am in Paris anyway, it would be a shame not to go.

I am just so excited about this whole adventure. I have to print the last of the documents out, do some laundry, finish off some magnets and ring the hotel in Barcelona to advise them that we will arrive Friday morning instead of tomorrow. I will also try to get through to the airline to check if we can just use the return portion of the ticket.
