Has anyone ever stayed at a moderate WDW resort? Which one would you recommend? Which one is the nearest to Magic Kingdom? I quite fancy the Port Orleans resorts ... how long to bus to Magic Kingdom from there?

We stayed at POFQ in September 2008 for a whole month, we loved it! Because it is one of the smallest resorts it is easy to get anywhere (food, busses, laundry, pool, etc). The food court was great and CM's often took our kids after dinner for cookie decorating, or other activities. The beignets are awesome, we ate them nearly everyday! The rooms were comfortable and clean. Would stay there this time but wanted to try somewhere else.

We really love Port Orleans. Either of them is nice. I can't remember if you have children or not(and I'm too lazy to check the roll call!!), but if the children are little, then POFQ has the best pool for them. If your children are older or teens, then POR has a great pool. Riverside has more extensive and pretty grounds. Personally I just love POFQ as it is so quaint and romantic in the evenings with cobbbled 'streets' and 'gaslamps' and is smaller than Riverside. Nowhere is far from the Foodcourt and drinks. There is no restaurant but you can walk on up to Riverside, or catch the boat. You can also officially pool hop. You must try their Beignets at the POFQ Foodcourt.

I'm thinking that most people sound to be interested in chocolate bars rather than other candy so any thoughts on whether we allow both or go with just chocolate?

I have noted the following people that maybe interested in this (some may have just said it sounded like fun though rather than actually wanting to participate) - please let me know if you are a definite yes or no - also the number of people participating in your group.

I'm thinking that if each person/group brings say a dozen small candy bars to swap? I guess it may depend on numbers of people interested - I'm open to ideas. We can either have a meet to swap or a FE drop (assuming everyone has a FE?).

Me too!!! I'd like to do it like the FE, my kids would love to come back to our room and find chocolate!!!! If we have too many, we could split into groups like the FE, Although I'm happy to bring how ever many.

Ok, this will sound weird... But... Do any of you EU folks shop at ASDA? They are one of our customers and people from the states that have gone to our Stokenchurch office rave about them. They are the UK counterpart of Walmart. I am curious what there is to rave about and if I need to try and find one on the trip.

Funny, I am interested in seeing their stores (we do their warehouse management and labour) and have no desire to meet with the PepsiCo people that are in Barcelona... Of course, If I can turn part of the trip into business I think I can get a rebate on my airfare and hotel... Hmmm.... MIGHT be worth considering...

Most Asda stores in UK are small compared to Walmart lol! But you will probably find it interesting to see! Some have a macdonalds in them.In UK the main supermarkets are Waitrose, Sainsbury's, Tesco, Morrisons and Asda. Listed in downward rank for prices! For most of us it comes down to which is the most convenient to get to everyday I guess. I like the first 3 best..but my Mum has a huge Asda near her, so I always like to have a snoop when visiting her. And I have to have a look in Walmart when in Florida

Just popped in to try to catch up on all the great topics of conversation all you lovely people have had going past few weeks!

I can't keep up with you all at the moment, because of busy scehdules, but I am still with everyone, albeit a few steps behind.

Some great ideas for the cruise, can't believe how organised everyone is!

Tomorrow we are off to Kuala Lumpur and Borneo for a long planned for trip. See you when we get back!

I must admit I do like Aldi because you get some more interesting products in there. We also shop at Sainsburys. None of these are as good as Walmart ..... I just looked into this. I can get the $25 coupons for $3 each. If anybody wants one, let me know. I'll order them and bring them to Barcelona.

This is really kind of you. I did send you a PM, but then checked the rules and you can only use one per month per party, so I would assume that is based on your address. So if you are uing one after the cruise I don't think it would work for anyone else. I may have it wrong though

thanks for the heads up - rebooked our two pre cruise nights (inc Med) and saved another €30 odd, i have rebooked three times now i think and saved probably €100 all together. Result!

We've saved 60 Euros in total but have also added on a breakfast so saved around 85 Euros compared to the first price (it was around 25 Eurors to add on breakfast). Im so glad I checked. I doubt its going to drop much on this price but I think Ill keep checking every few weeks

I tend to choose Tesco over ASDA. Its pretty much the same as Wallmart really but I find that British supermarkets in general have more range in their food products.

We shop at Asda as it is our closest big store and we can walk there. John pops down late at night quite often. Prices are good, but I hate shopping there and would rather go to other stores. I really can't think of anything to rave about, though the clothes are really great value and I do buy some there occasionally. Children's clothing is really good value with some quite fashionable items.

Some of the stores do use the name Walmart as well and have a larger non food range. However they are nothing like your Walmart. I didn't know there were any in mainland Europe, but that isn't saying there aren't any!!!

We have a Walmart one near us in Bristol and it is like a Wallmart with more choice if that makes sense? Its probably the closest we will ever get to one in the UK

Oh now see we could have a big debate over this! Unfortunately Im a bit sad and use the independant price checker My Supermarket to do my online shopping. This allows you to do one shopping basket and compare about 4 supermarkets. Tesco is actually cheaper if you don't buy branded products than Morrisons and ASDA. I don't tend to buy branded so for me its cheaper. If anyone does online shopping use My Supermarket as it is fab. Once you choose which shop to go with they will send the basket over to them for you so you only have to do it once.

LOL exactly! Our supermarkets seem a lot more organised and have a lot of different offers on all the time unlike Wallmart. They do great food selections at Tesco and ASDA. They kind of have a larger food selection - more like a Publix in that respect.
