Has anyone ever stayed at a moderate WDW resort? Which one would you recommend? Which one is the nearest to Magic Kingdom? I quite fancy the Port Orleans resorts ... how long to bus to Magic Kingdom from there?

Port Orleans Riverside! Its the best Moderate on site in my opinion. Nice rooms, very open. Can catch a boat to down town Disney and one of the closest by bus! I love it!

Today out of some weird fluke of nature - was filling in our passporter details for the hotel and accidentally clicked on the hotel website so thought I would have a look and see what the price was - I've yet again changed my reservation.

They were quoting 123.45 Euros for 2 adults plus breakfast in a Deluxe room in Feb without having to pre-pay. They now have an Autumn Break offer for 2 adults with breakfast for around 105 Euros (99 but you have to add around 7% tax on) which you don't have to pre-pay so I've rebooked again.

All those with us at this hotel may want to look for this offer. Its the same price as pre-paying!

I hope this doesn't offend anyone but I have a few Disney things to re-home and wanted to offer them to people in our little group first. I'd prefer to not ship them so priority goes to someone willing to pick them up in Scarborough

2 resort refillable mugs from 2009 I believe (I believe yellow and red lids, or black) In excellent condition

2008 Unofficial Guide to DW

2 Platinum CC lanyards

1 Print from staying concierge on the ship: "Pinnochio's Pizzaria"

Any takers? Going as one lot would be great. Price: FREE for pickup

I need to whine for a moment.
My just got fired yesterday and I was worried about canceling the trip.
after about 2 seconds I decided that there was no way we were canceling. I don't care if were paying for it for 10 years... we're going.

A Private Tequila tasting would cool too.
Photographic scavenger hunt sounds great!
mmm british Mars bar? sounds good! Sign us up for the candy exchange as well. I know Reeses pb cups are taken but are they the fun size or the full size?

This is what we did for our cruise on 08 as well and it was very cool.

I would love to share a table with another DIS family, but we have early seating.

Full size or Fun Size?

The code didn't work

I'm really sorry to hear about the job loss in your house. It's a terrible trend these days. What a generation to be in, huh?

DH is still looking, but we are keeping our heads above water. He teaches part-time so that helps. (I actually love having him home). We are also not making the smartest financial decision going on the cruise still, but we are committed to going and most of the cost has already been paid.

We are early seating too, but have 6 in our party so I don't think we could be joined with another 6 people. We'd love to sit with other Dis'ers (thinking very Groucho Marx comments right now! LOL)

As for the RBC, I'm going to get the Halloween packages so I guess the smaller kind (that way one can eat more than one because everyone knows Halloween candy is meant to be consumed in quantity and the calories are adjusted for this :rotfl:)

I am totally in for a tequila tasting. We went to the martini tasting last time and it ended up being a private one due to space issues and we asked for a swap-out of the chocolate martini for a tequila "martini" made with their best stuff. That's the same drink we chose for our full-sized cocktail at the conclusion of the tasting. We definitely got our $15 worth! I'm just starting to explore different tequilas (I only drink very lightly and infrequently - too many responsibilities with work and kids to drink socially). As the kids are getting older I am enjoying adult drinks more often (when off-call on my 4 days off per month).

Thanks everyone for your support:grouphug:

I think a chocolate/candy bar swap would be so much fun! Count us in for that!
It is a beautiful day here in PA. The sun is shining and it's just wonderful.
I got the US Census in the mail today! Has everybody (well, who should be getting them) gotten theirs yet? I want to fill it out and send it off right away so I won't forget to do it! LOL!
Yes it's a nice taste of spring:)

Just been listening to the latest DIS Podcast.
Seems DCL are requesting that people stop taping stuff to their stateroom doors as it's damaging them.
Now i know this is nothing new and all of us WBTA folks will only be using magnets on our doors, but just thought it was worth mentioning in case anyone is planing to decorate their door and didn't already know that DCL request NO TAPE.
With the ever growing list of great activities being planned i wouldn't be surprised if "Best decorated door" made it onto the list.
SW

I'm listening to the Pod cast right now. No Tape or they may start charging.
I found magnetic printing paper works great. Yes it's expensive, but works well.

On the candy exchange, I am wondering now chocolate will do on an over the atlantic flight? Is it best to have it in one's carry-on?
Pj
Check it. that way you won't eat it! :rotfl:

We watched The Princess and The Frog last night. Very cute movie and loved the music!

OK well thought I'd be nosey and see how much it would be to upgrade from a cat 11. They are quoting $43 dollars a day per person! Thats over $1000 for the 2 of us! I doubt thats happening lol. Thats to a Cat 9
I got offered the same upgrade for about $37pp/pd - yikes! Don't they understand that if I had that much money, I'd have booked a cat 9 in the first place? :rotfl:

I'm a big fan of tequila! If you ever take the western caribbean sailing, arrange to do the tequila seminar at Mr Sancho's in Cozumel. It was amazing! You got to sample eight different tequilas, were taught all about the history and making of it, and were fed a mexican meal too. It seriously was the highlight of my trip. Also, if you spend any time on facebook, become a fan of Hotel California tequila - they do tequila dinners all over the country. I'm actually going to one next week.

Bummer I'm not near you, as I'd like the concierge print. I was quite bummed when on our 3rd concierge stay (in December) we got the same print we got on our first cruise in 2005!

For those still looking for flights home from Orlando--

Southwest is opening the reservations thru October 30 on March 23!

We really love Port Orleans. Either of them is nice. I can't remember if you have children or not(and I'm too lazy to check the roll call!!), but if the children are little, then POFQ has the best pool for them. If your children are older or teens, then POR has a great pool. Riverside has more extensive and pretty grounds. Personally I just love POFQ as it is so quaint and romantic in the evenings with cobbbled 'streets' and 'gaslamps' and is smaller than Riverside. Nowhere is far from the Foodcourt and drinks. There is no restaurant but you can walk on up to Riverside, or catch the boat. You can also officially pool hop. You must try their Beignets at the POFQ Foodcourt.

You might find offers of reasonable price paid upgrades come closer to PIF date. I think if you have booked with DU or another firm you will get the offer through them via email. We had offers for both our cruises last September, but for us as a couple it wasn't worth it as it was only from a 6 to a 4, so just extra space at the end of the room which we didn't need. Also we had chosen or stateroom, and we wouldn't have a choice of an upgraded room.

I'm thinking of asking for a 'do not want to upgrade' to be put on our reservation this time as I like the room we have chose. That is in case they just decide to move us with a free upgrade closer to the sail date without asking.

I guess any sort of candy would work equally well. Personally I don't care what it is as long as its edible and preferrably not fruit (although fruit is nice too lol)

I give it some thought and see if I can think of a light option so that I can join in too.

I would stay at Caribbean Beach in a heart beat.

thanks for the heads up - rebooked our two pre cruise nights (inc Med) and saved another €30 odd, i have rebooked three times now i think and saved probably €100 all together. Result!
