We would love to sit with others! Not that I don't want to meet everyone, but I would love to sit with someone that has kids - or at least someone that is around Beccas age (she just turned 6, and tends to be very shy at times). Stephen (13) may not want to do dinner with us every night - but will most nights...

ow many large tables are there? If we link ressies can we fillthem all? :)

I think they will put together a few large tables in neighbouring sections and then sort it so the groups are on the same dining rotation.

I just hope that someone brings along the peanut butter cups

I'll gladly take care these, but then again they may not make it to the ship. I would have to put them in the checked luggage, if they go in carry on I'll eat them before the plane leaves the ground in Toronto.:goodvibes

Our kids are 12 (boy), 10 (girl) and 3 (boy). Neither of my kids are over mature, and would likely do better with same age or younger children.

I'd do a table of 10! And we are early dining.

Hi everyone,

We have not checked in for a while, so I wanted to do just that. Plus, I have a good reason to. When my DW, Lauren, and I made the decision to do the Westbound Transatlantic, we asked ourselves "When are we going to be in Europe again?" Since I am a horrible.....HORRIBLE flyer, I told her that it wouldn't be for a while. :rotfl:

Anyway, we decided to make this trip count. Our original plan was to fly into London on Sept 7th from Orlando, then head to Paris and Disneyland Paris (We just have to, right?? ), visit some of Germany, then ending up in Barcelona for a couple days before we board the Disney Magic for the first time. Since its the Disney Cruise that is the main reason for the trip, I am counting what I am about to tell you as a major pixie dusting. Even if Disney had nothing to do with it.

Our neighbor, without us knowing, entered us in a radio sweepstakes. Well, guess what....WE WON!!! We won round trip airfare from Orlando to Amsterdam!!!! :yay: :woohoo: :cool1:

We are just so excited and know that this trip is meant to be!! Now, if it will only get here already!! :lmao:

We still have alot of planning and booking left to go, as I am sure many of you do. Looking forward to meeting as many of you as we can on our journey together!! :goodvibes

Daniel

That is awesome happy news Daniel! Congratulations!

Today i had made the decision to take Miles to the vet tomorrow to put him down. Well he had a different idea. He came and sat with me one last time then went into the kitchen and cried one last time and passed on. I just cannot even stop crying. This is the first time I have witnessed a pets death and am devistated.

We still have his sister Ella and another cat Josie. But now all of the boys are gone.

I'm really sorry.

While we are organising things in such an organised way .... are we going to be organising our dining so that we can sit with other DIS group members. DH and I would love to do this if anyone else is interested ???? We are late dining!

If you are thinking of linking dining, do it AFTER Palo/excursion booking night, as it really messes the computer system for everyone!!!!!!!:scared1::scared1:

DCL has beer, wine and martini tasting. We just need to decide which we will go to. There was, I believe, 2 of each on the PC. We did the second martini tasting on that one. It was fun. :woohoo: I have not heard of DCL setting up a separate one for DISers. Has anyone else had any experience with a private tasting sponsored by DCL?

We had a private martini tasting on the Wonder after the scheduled one was overbooked. It was way better!

Doesn't hurt to ask if we could set up a group tea or group tastings. Anybody feel like they have a way with words and could sweettalk someone at DCL? Anybody got any connections?

I'm happy to volunteer for this (I think someone else did also so don't want to step on any toes). Coming off the cruise we have a rental car and will be visiting local thrift stores can easily donate any surplus books also. I'm a big user of the book exchange so it would be great to have it right outside my door
Paula, nice of you to volunteer for the book exchange.

On prior cruises, we donated the excess books and magazines to the crew. They appreciate them, and it saves having to carry the items off the ship.

Woody

I will bring Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, I promise.

Thanks Marilyn ..... we will wait until that all important date (or dates) are behind us. But I am happy to still take names of those who want to link and have a DIS group dining area.

At this precise moment in 6 months time guess where we will be . .......

IN BARCELONA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:woohoo::yay::woohoo::yay::woohoo::yay:

Not fair! We have to wait til 10pm tomorrow for it to be our 6 month mark! Might open the one bottle of champagne I got for my birthday tomorrow at 10pm to celebrate!

Dan today scared me by asking for the dates of our holiday again! Started panicing he couldn't get the time off but all is OK thank God! Someone else was trying to book off the week of the Ryder Cup (we are hosting it in our town - Newport - this year on the weekend of the 1st October) so his boss was confirming he was definately away that weekend! PHEW!!! :woohoo:

Sue ..... the Hard Rock meet on the 16th ..... count us in for that one !!! Will it be for a meal or just pre-dinner drinks?

Re: DIS meet on board - Last time we had our DIS meet at 3pm on embarkation day at the Promenade Lounge. This is after most people had their lunch and found their cabins, but before the safety drill. I don't know if timings will be the same on the TA cruise though.

Re: the scavenger hunt .... happy for whatever. We could all 3 collaborate our ideas and take it from there.

I am happy to work together on a Scavenger Hunt. As I said, I am happy to do the leg work while I am on the Magic in April.

We would be interested in this and have late dinner as well.

Actually, a private cognac tasting was my personal pixie dust on my last cruise. I complained to Rodolpho, who also hosts the tequila seminars, that the time for the cognac tasting was awful - 9:30 is too early for anyone with late seating to make! He agreed and offered to host a cognac tasting for me and my family any time that was convenient for us. We agreed on the last night at 10:15, and had a great time. I'm not sure how one would arrange it from off the ship, but I'm sure they would agree to offer one for DISers if you asked the right person.

Oh! We would love a cognac tasting. That is our favorite drink!! :woohoo:

One more (I could have made it 3 posts to help the cause... :) )... Has anyone prearranged meeting places on board? Does DCL do this? If they do, I am willing to make some calls, and try to set up some photo ops, etc. However, I am new to this meet thing - so where do groups normally meet to get group photos taken?

We have been involved with group photos in the atrium. The photographer stood on the balcony above so that everyone was in the photo. Turned out nice.

Just wondering if there is a fee for the beer/wine/martini/tequila/cognac tasting sessions on board as I can't remember.

It would be great to have group sessions for this but how we would organise it ahead of time I don't know ..... might have to wait until we get there.

There is a fee. We would love it if a DIS session could be arranged.

I just hope that someone brings along the peanut butter cups

No worries ..... I'm happy :goodvibes:goodvibes

Peanut butter cups have been promised. DrHug's favorite is snickers bars. We could bring those.

So agree with this!!! You can then link as many as you want. DCL will put you all on the same rotation and in the same area of the diningroom. After the kids get to know each other we noticed some "table hopping", meaning not everyone sat at their assigned table, which was great for the kids to get to sit with their buddies. :thumbsup2

This sounds great!!! We could have an early linkd group and a late linked group.

Not sure of anyone else - but this is starting to feel "real" now that we are getting closer!!

It certainly is ..... I have been obsessing about it all day. Have almost decided on our Disney Hotel for the night we disembark .... as we are likely to be spending the late afternoon and evening in Magic Kingdom, we are thinking Wilderness Lodge ... I have always loved the theming, have never stayed there and the boat ride back to the Lodge would be a lovely way to end the evening. Plus we could have a yummy breakfast in Whispering Canyon before we leave for the airport.
