More SNOW!!!

Just watch the new and there calling for 12 to 18 inches of snow for Thursday to Friday. There also call in a snowicane. I need to move to the south.

Or the southwest!

The only frost/snow I have is in the freezer:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Fav Disney song: So Close from Enchanted
Non Disney movie: that's hard I watch movie all the time, right now Backdraft is on.

Thats my current favoured option for the Friday. We have done this in several world wide cities, most recently Boston (wow one of the best we have ever done, and the best hop on hop off bus ever) ...and it has always worked for us. Before we go to a place, we note a list of the must do tourist attractions. On our designated bus day, usually the first day, we get up early. Have a day ticket, and first of all stay on the bus for the full circuit with the usually provided map. We take pics when we can, either through window or if its warm from open deck. Generally get the "lay of the land". When we get back to the starting board point we stay on to our first chosen attraction, then get off and go explore. Sometimes we note that its quick to walk to the next attraction...so might do a couple before getting back on the bus..and so on...
Adjust the length of stay according to the time we have and the tickets. If we only have one day..we do the full circuit...so we have seen from a distance the best things..and choose a couple of the most must see things..as time allows...
Sorry to ramble but we love sightseeing and taking pics of cities! :)

Thanks for that ramble. It sounds like a great plan.....now to get DrHug up early. :rolleyes1

So sorry! :flower3: We are still at only abut 50% of our usual snowfall and none in the forcast for the next 10 days. We really need it to prevent a bad fire season.

I will gladly ship the snow your way.;) It sleeted, freezing rained and snowed today.

Any one else have fond plane memories?

1st plane ride was in 1st year university, took a solo trip to D.C. it was like a school bus in the air. Short stairs up to the cabin, and seats two by two and twenty-five rows.

Thought I would post a question of the week as nobody did it yesterday ....

Disney Question: What are your all-time favourite Disney songs / music and why?

Non-Disney Question: What are your favourite non-Disney movies?

Disney Song, 'Til We Meet again from DCL final night. :sad1:

Non-disney movie, I am a movie junkie so too hard to pick, but I like psychological thrillers. DM and I head to the movies most every Sunday morning at AMC ($6@.)

If I take the non-stop flight I could be at the hotel by 10am on Friday and this tour looks great! :rolleyes1

Yes! I can have him up and ready by 10, I am sure. That sounds fun and a great way to see the sights together. We have done these hop on hop off tours in St. Augustine, FL, Savannah, GA and Charleston, SC. Loved them. Of course, those places are not as large as Barcelona so easier to cover it all in a not too long day. I think we should plan a long day in Barcelona.

Seriously, we would take it if we could. All the storms this year have either been south across CA and then east or up over the north of us dropping down just east of us in eastern MT then heading east. El Nino they tell us. However, El Nino is supposed to end in the spring per our weatherman and that should mean an extra wet June and cooler July for us,:confused3 which will help with the forest fire season. Or so says the weatherman anyway. :)

I am sleeping on the plane (changing watch as soon as i get on board) and a direct flight means 7ish hours of sleep, then I am staying up until BCN bed time.

Dennis won't sleep much on the plane - and it will take us about 15 hrs, I think. He needs his CPAP to sleep, dozes off then wakes. But we arrive Thursday so I will let him take a short nap then get up for the late afternoon/evening and then sleep a long night.

We have done the hop on and off tour bus in London and it was really great ... and an alternative to using the underground system which I don't like at all. I think in Barcelona I have just a few places I definitely want to see ( Sagrada Famiglia, Parc Guell and the Gothic Quarter) and we will likely just walk to see them. I will also be taking loads of photos. My favourite thing to do in European cities is to walk around and soak up the atmosphere, and stop in pavement cafes for coffee or other drinkies depending on time of day.

:lmao::lmao:

Yours sounds like a great plan.
We will be walking, we just love to wander around, well usually going fast :cool1:

I have told so many people we are going to Barcelona and have not heard ONE bad report, EVERYBODY syas its a great city, I cant wait

I have heard the same ... everybody from work who has done a city break to Barcelona says it is a wonderful place to visit. I am really looking forward to it too.

OK, favourites.
My favourite song is the one that I always remember playing in Main St @ DL. Welcome to our family? I think it's from Brother Bear.

Fav non-Disney movie, Hmmmm Grease or Dirty Dancing, can't choose!

And while we are talking about flying. Question - We have flown alot with our 2 DD and they are very good, but the futherest we have gone with them is Florida, which is about 20 hours from here. This trip will be Brisbane to Singapore, 8 hours, wait 3 hours, Singapore to London, 14.5 hours, wait 4 hours, London to Barcelona, 2 hours. So a total of about 35 hours from our door to Barcelona hotel, aarrghhhh:scared1::scared1::scared1:. They have Ipod Touch's, new activity books, and movies on the planes, but honestly, what can I do with them for that long???? HELP!!!!

More snow this am, :sad2: ages to get home from work and now Im stressed about getting back, seriously not good, work is naff this week( well the folks are) and i cant get running, the good things are my beagles are so pleased to see me when I come in from work, makes the crap journey worth it.

Out of curiosity, has anyone looked into a group rate at the Praktik Rambla? Since so many of us are planning to stay there, perhaps this is something they would be agreeable to offering.

That's a good idea!

My friend spent 10 days in Barcelona last year and she started her vacation this way, and said the bus was terrific. I think there are two routes? She said it was pretty cheap - maybe there is a tourist card or something to get beforehand? They felt like it got the kids interested in the city, and was a nice way to ease in to sightseeing. She said that their apartment on Las Rambla was very loud, in the middle of party central, but that that was fun. She said the street had a carnival kind of feeling with lots of street performers and such.

I think our plan is to check in at our hotel around 230 (we land at 1230 so may be earlier) and try to keep the kids going for a few hours, at least until we can get an early dinner in (we normally eat late anyhow). The bus tour might be good then if the kids are weary, or we thought of going to Park Guell and just walking off some steam, then a bistro dinner, then early to bed.

Friday I'd like to go to the Picasso museum, and see some of the Gaudi architecture. We might save something quick for Saturday morning as I don't think we'll want to rush our time and get to the boat super early. I don't think we will want an upgrade as we have connecting cabins. I imagine that we will keep our hotel room until 11am or noon and then head over to the ship.

My friend also told me that there was a terrific farmers market near where we are staying where they got fresh bread and cheese and fruit for breakfast most mornings, to save on time and money. I could imagine 2 of us running out to get some, and some coffee, and not buying an expensive breakfast.

WE HAVE A BATHTUB!!!!:dance3::woohoo::yay::worship:

I am sitting here with a coffee and an hear water running! Just doing the final testing before our contractor-friend goes away for a few days (I begged him to get a tub installed before he left).

It's a lovely Jacuzzi tub. Unfortunately, it is a small oasis in the middle of bare insulation, plywood floors, and exposed roof beams. But now we can clean ourselves at our own house! By Monday we will have real live drywalled walls and ceiling again. Woot!

Thanks Sarah, i have just mailed them (well filled in a form to customer service) so will see what comes back.

I have just checked the costs again and it has come down another €15 for that night and €5 for the night in Aug so have rebooked - it is so easy with marriots rewards, i just chose to book another night to see how much and when it was cheaper i booked it and then cancelled the other booking.

I think that is €70 in two days!!

Lorraine

Thanks for the heads up We didn't save anything but on breakfast thrown in for the same price!

We're staying at the Renaissance the night before, and I contacted them about their port shuttle. They have shuttles scheduled at 11, 12 and 1, but have offered to arrange a shuttle for 10am if needed (would put us at port around 10:30 by their calculations.)

For florida cruises, I'm usually at the port at 9:30 or 9:45 so I can be one of the first ones in the terminal when we're trying to get an upgrade. I don't know if we'd be trying to upgrade on this one, (or if they will be upgrades available) but I was wondering what time the port opens, and what time should we plan on getting there?

Any prior Barcelona cruisers have some advice before I respond back to the hotel concierge?

Thanks!

They let us on the boat between 12 and 1. Most of the Disney shuttles came in around 11. We are getting an 11am one from the hotel as seems a reasonable time.
