:goofy::goofy::goofy:Hello to all,

We have enjoyed reading your posts and are pleased to be joining you all on the Westbound Atlantic cruise this September.

My DW, DS (11) and DS (8) and myself have been planning this holiday since last July.

We will be travelling from Australia (a loooong flight but well worth it)

A special hello to Little Disney Lovers. We too are from the Northern Gold Coast. It is indeed a small world!

Looking forward to meeting you all :yay:

We have one that will be 13! Looks like the tweens will have good company... Now I just need to find 6 year olds for my daughter!

My DS will be 7. It does seem that they may have a less crowded oceaneer area on this trip.

I got my $100 OBC last month, it'll go toward the minimum tipping of $168pp. I know I'll be tipping more than that though. I know I got some sort of OBC for booking with Dreams and more for using my Disney Visa card.

Welcome, How exciting, more Aussies. We live at Hope Island, are you close by? We have 2 girls, no boys.

Hey another Australian family. We have quite a few I think.

I think there is just the 2 Aussie families and 1 kiwi lot that I'm aware of. If there are more, come on, show your faces!:lmao:

That is quite the video! I liked the "Free boats!" comment. :rotfl:

Yes, Free boats, You just have to catch them! They were moving quite fast!

As Lynne pointed out, some of us don't have lives. This is our connection to the outside world:lmao: I think we just want to test the limits of the DIS servers by going through another thread.

Glad to hear you didn't have any damage. That's one way of creating your own Living Seas aquarium. :goodvibes

Jon

Add me to the list of having no life! :rotfl:

We heard many good things about Princess, so we had high expectations. Our expectations were met.

Lunch and dinner in the main dining rooms were very, very good. It was the best among the cruise lines we have tried.

Some of the things we liked:

  • Very smooth embarkation.
  • Cabins are ready upon boarding (we boarded at 11:50 and went to our cabin to drop off our bags).
  • A working refrigerator.
  • Warm cookies served in the afternoon (servers roam with carts around the pool deck and atrium).
  • Nice library (12 or so floor-to-ceiling bookcases).
  • Lots of quiet seating areas around the ship.
  • Daily afternoon tea (open to all at no charge).
  • Generous portions. If you ordered lobster tail, they brought you three, and later brought around another plate with more.
  • A self-serve kiosk next to the front desk. Just swipe your room card to get a copy of your stateroom account without standing in line. Brilliant!
  • Automatic enrollment in the Captains Circle loyalty program. On day 5 or 6, we received a welcome packet including Captains Circle cards with our names and member numbers.
  • On debarkation day you can go to breakfast then return to your cabin until your debarkation time.
  • Very smooth debarkation.
Woody

I like the afternoon tea idea, very civilised! And warm cookies, yum!

Cool! I need to find 10 year old girls for my dd.

We have 2 DD, 8 and 9!

Welcome! Tell me about the long flight... mine is 33 hours - I'm really not looking forward to that part of this journey. :lmao:

It's the worst part of the entire trip, The last trip we did to Europe we went business, and just my DH and I, This trip will be the 4 of us in Economy, AAArrgggghhhhhh:scared1::scared1::scared1:

I have just awoken after a night shift last night and have received a lovely surprise in the mail ... a letter from DCL which says:

" we truly appreciate you selecting a Disney Cruise Line vacation in Europe for this coming year. Whether you've chosen a Mediterranean or Baltic itinerary, we cannot wait to share these amazing ports of call with you.

As a special thank you for your business, we are pleased to provide each member of your party with a £100 shopboard credit. This credit can be used toward the purchase of any of our onboard amenities or your selection of Port Adventures.

It is our hope you will truly enjoy this added benefit of booking early with Disney Cruise Line and that your vacation will be truly magical aboard the Disney Magic

Sincerely

Cast and crew
Disney Cruise Line"

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

I so excited when I receive any mail from DCL, but this one was a lovely surprise .... thank you DCL :love::love:

Wow, I wonder if any of us down under will get a lovely surprise like that? I sure hope so, we booked well before Dec 01! Fingers crossed.
Congratulations to all who got it!!:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Pleased to say that we received the $100 OBC letter today as well :thumbsup2 nice surprise to come home to after a cold wet day here. It seems to be the UK people that are getting them today for some reason. Who knows how DCL works :confused3

More letters, More magic, I hope the pixie dust reaches Australia!!

Congratulations Sarah. Are you each getting 100 GBP, not USD?

Woody

And if you're getting 100 GBP instead of $100, I'll be very jealous!!

No sorry ... I was so excited I hit the £ instead of the $
It is definitely $100, but hey that is fantastic as I never expected that. We may end up with more Shipboard Credit from the Fuel Surcharge thing too :wizard:

I love the Barcelona pics! Las Rambles looked so so busy

We too received the $100 OBC letter so well happy. Wonder what happens if you change your booking to a cheaper room? Anyone know if this constitutes rebooking?

Yes, that would be a new booking. If cheaper rooms open then we will have to look carefully at the total cost minus the $100 per person OBC.

At least you know what you want though.
I wish I could say that was true. I went to the Sleep Number store and found out the mattress on sale would not have the sleep number. The remote would just say firmer or softer. Now it would scroll through all 100 numbers and I could just stop when I'm confortable. The sale ends on Friday, so I had to think. Then I decided to lie on the Sleep Number foam. OMG. Perfection. This is the bed I could sleep on for the next 20 years. Now I'm trying to recover from sticker shock.:scared1::scared1::scared1:

Good day everyone!:goodvibes

WOW, wish we got that letter! Nothing like that here...might be because we booked using our DVC points. Congrats to those who got the OBC! Awesome :thumbsup2

Steffy- great day for a sale! Good luck getting a new bed!:wizard:

I am so ready for this vacation. I am slightly worried something will happen to prevent us from going. But I am really hoping everything goes as planned. The last cruise DH and I were on was a 4nt in Sept 08, so we are way overdue!
I guess we meesed up our ability to get the letter since we rebooked in December while on the Wonder. We saved $500.00, so I suppose it is all good. :goodvibes:goodvibes

Great day for a sale until it started snowing. I came home and backed my car into my garage. If it is only 3 inches of snow, I can just drive my way through that, no need to snowblow. If we get another foot of snow, I'll have to snowblow first before work. Happy, happy, joy, joy. But I need to get to work because I need to process payroll. :cool2:

Okay, a little about me. I have 2 kids and 4 grandkids. I am going to turn 60 on this cruise. In fact, the fireworks they have on departure day are for me. :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:
I'm hoping they say Happy Birthday Stephanie

and Terry

My oldest granddaughter is a competitive cheerleader. She goes to nationals in a couple of weeks. The last time we went to Nationals, we didn't have to bring her little brother; my son watched him. This year, no way. The thought of us sitting for 3 twelve hour days.. if anyone has ever been to a competition like this, the level of noise is deafening. And it's his spring break. So we are headed to Disney.

This will be my first grandchild and me trip without his parents. Pray for me.:goodvibes:goodvibes

Stephanie!!!! We are doing it again!!! Posting right after each other. I swear we were not talking on the phone. We live about 13 miles from each other. We are such twins..:lmao:

Oh that is funny. ESP that's all there is to it!!:goodvibes:goodvibes

About us, we will celebrate our 43rd anniversary just after we get off the ship. :lovestruc We are staying at BCV in WDW for that. We met at Disneyland Sept. 9 1967 married less than 4 weeks later Oct 6. 3 kids from 32 to 41 years old, 5 grandkids from 10-20 years old. We both retired (Dennis was a pharmacist, I a patient advocate at a Veterans Hospital) in Aug 2008, moved to MT from OR and then did a 5 month 23 state trip in our MH thru the winter/spring of 2008 - 2009. We had a ball and plan another trip doing the northern states and then down the Eastern seaboard states beginning sometime in May ending in FL in time to fly to Barcelona Sept 15.
I will turn 60 this year also, but a bit before Steffy. Dennis just turned 65, we celebrated at Disneyland. :woohoo:

She makes sure she tells everyone this!!!!!!

Seeing as though I suggested it, I will say a little about us.

I'm going to be 62 in March and John is 63 in June. We celebrate our 41st Wedding Anniversary in July, and have 3 children and 8 grandchildren, ranging in ages from 2 to 11.

I am retired from doing not too much, and John is semi retired from his business after passing over the reins to our eldest son about 18 months ago. Our son was a Radiographer, so a big change for him, but he is doing great and earning our Florida money.:lmao:

We love coming over to Orlando and are spending longer periods here. It did take John a little while to get to enjoy all things Disney and now loves it and particularly loves cruising. No one is more surprised than me that I ever got him on a cruise ship!!! We would love to do more cruising.

I met my hubby on a blind date arranged by his aunt and my mom. That was June 17, 1966. I said I wanted the older guy since his brother was my age. It was love at first sight. :goodvibes He sent me a letter three weeks later professing his love. For the next three years, it was mostly long distance especially when he joined the Navy. Three years later we got married and I was not even 19 years old yet. We will be married 41 years in June. We have three children. Boy, girl, boy. I have four grandsons and my oldest son's wife is expecting their third child in July. My daughter suffered her fourth miscarriage and whether they will try again, it remains to be seen. Since my youngest son just got married in January, I am not sure if and when they will try for a child. His bride has a little boy who just turned 3 years old and he is just the sweetest.

My BFF Stephanie and I have known each other for over 20 years. We are such twins. It was a pleasure to have worked with her for the past almost six years. We could be professional but also have fun when it was needed. I am going to miss my lunch buddy. :sad1:

Great subject, Marilyn, for our Monday question. I love getting to know everyone! :grouphug: Disney people are the best!

OK, about us...

How did Glenn and I meet? Well, Glenn stole my job quite a few years ago, and somehow I managed to fall for him anyway... :lovestruc And we have pretty much worked together in one sort or another ever since, including where we are now - well for the next week anyway - and then he is leaving to take on a great opportunity elsewhere. (I too will be missing my lunch buddy!)

We will be celebrating our 18th anniversary on the 19th. Celebrating with us (other than you all) will be our son Stephen who will be 13, and our daughter Rebecca who will be 6. Stephen is the typical 12 year old boy. He plays baseball and wrestles and he loves history. Becca is a little princess. She is a budding gymnast, will do cheer :cheer2: in the fall and loves to sing and dance. She can be painfully shy at times so I challenge you all to get her out of her shell so she can enjoy the club (and mom and dad can enjoy their anniversary!). Glenn is the techy guy :surfweb: - but you already knew that! I love to bake and cook.:stir: Sign me up for repeats of the galley tour! I am hoping that Pascal will be on board as we met and chatted quite a bit this past cruise. I am hoping that he will be able to do deeper dive into the galley tour. I find that stuff facinating!

What else? We live north west of the city of Atlanta in Canton, GA. We built a house in what was the boonies, and have been there about 5 years. We have a creek in our back yard that is visited by our 4 legged neighbors - a family of cows.

Funny story about our last cruise (September 2009)... We totally surprised the kids. We told them we were going to see the grandparents in The Villages. When we arrived, we told them we were going to see the shuttle launch. They were OK with that - but were not excited about the drive to get there... So, after breakfast with the grandparents, we piled back in the car and off we were. We pulled into the port, almost threw documents at the person at the fence - and managed to whisper it was a surprise. She waved us through. I was pulling up to the porter area when the kids both looked up. Stephen says "Mom, you have some 'splaining to do". Becca was thrilled, but stephen managed to be grumpy for the rest of the day. It wasn't until he got to put his tux on that he admitted it was a great surprise. We had quite a few pixie dustoings as the cruise went on, but that info will have to wait for another question of the week/day... Oh, this year is not a surprise - I couldn't keep the excitement in this time!

So, that is us... :woohoo: much more than you asked for...

Gus and I met at work in 1998 in our early 20's, starting dating in 1999 and were engaged 6 months later and have been ever since!! :scared1:
Yes, we are those crazy people who just haven't felt the need to rush out and make it official just so everyone else can feel more comfortable! :rotfl:
We don't have any kids yet but I was rasied by my grandparents and when my grandfather died in 1998 my grandmother came to live with me and has been with us ever since. She is going to be 90 this year and has mild dementia & COPD and acts a lot like a 12 year old most of the time (eats nothing but candy, doesn't want to take a bath :headache:) but we love her and are happy knowing she's well taken care of!
I got my degree in Communications in 2002 and work for local government & Gus manages a local pizza restaurant that we also own. Gus also works for a professional wedding DJ company and has an unheathly attachment to his iPhone!!! :lmao: Oh and he absolutely loves magic!! So much so that he took magic classes and tried out to become a Magician Member of the Magic Castle in Hollywood!
As for me, I love books, music, movies, poker, concerts and of course Disney!!

I'm loving hearing about everyone else!! Can't wait to read more!

Sue - I lived in Canton, GA for a short time. Even went to Cherokee High for a few months! We also had a creek in our back yard. I loved it there!

Looks like I showed up at just the right time. I'm so enjoying reading your introductions. Sue, we'll have to get our boys together :)

So here's my answer . . .
I'm Theresa (age 44) and my DH is Ken (age 42) - I keep teasing him he looks just like the new "Ken" character on the upcoming Toy story 3 movie, but I remind him he's no longer single . .yeah! We were introduced by some friends at a business conference in 1992. We were both living in the nations capital. I was actually engaged to someone else at the time and he had just broken off another engagement. My engagement ended soon after and he was persuaded to ask me out. We saw each other on occasion, but ended up at my BFF house for Christmas Eve. It was the first Christmas EVER that I didn't go home to be with my family. Somehow after that we couldn't be separated and a few days later he asked me to marry him. We were married at a beautiful camp in West Virginia (near the Greenbrier) in September 1993.

Since then we've been blessed with two entertaining boys. Their both teens now: 15 and 13 yo. We homeschool, too (just to increase the entertainment value . . ha, ha). The oldest is into high school baseball, robots, Civil Air Patrol and starting college. The youngest is still find his way. He enjoys sports of all kinds, playing Wii, writing in his blog, and Civil Air Patrol. Both boys have had the opportunity to fly an airplane before driving a car (scary isn't it!)

Last year, we moved to the country in SE Virginia to be closer to DH's work. DH works for a nuclear power plant and is working to finish his college degree. I own a website design/development company and wish I could give my engineering degrees to hubby . . .LOL. We love to travel and do a bit as I'm from Pgh and hubby is from Seattle. Getting the boys to Europe before heading to college is a dream come true for me. We've spent this school year studying European history and British literature.

Looking forward to meeting ya'll and sharing some scrapbooking!

Oh magic! Dennis loves that as well.

Civil Air Patrol - our DS was involved with that also....years ago. Excellent experience.

We find there are always bits of common interests with the Disney folks we meet.
