Thanks for clearing that up. So, if 12gty becomes available and it is less than a $300 savings for the 3 of us we will skip it, if it is more than $300 we will book it. :thumbsup2 It's all about me and my wallet, you know! :rotfl::rotfl2:

That's awful.

Woody
thanks woody, just doesnt seem fair.
Oh dear - bad news for those flying with Globespan ..... looks like they have gone bust :sad2::sad2:

quote from UK website:

"It has just been announced that Glasgow-based airline Globespan has gone into administration. PriceWaterhouseCooper has been appointed as the administrators and a further announcement is expected soon concerning the collapse of Scotland's biggest airline.

This is a blow for thousands of passengers who have already booked flights with the airline who operates out of Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Cardiff and Belfast airports. The airline flies two return flights a week from Edinburgh to Geneva, so clearly this news will affect people intending to travel out to Geneva and onto ski resorts this winter with Globespan.

Anyone who has booked a flight directly with the airline may very well end up losing the money, unless the booking was made using a credit card in which case customers may be able to approach their credit card company for a refund. Those booking package holidays which includes flights on Globespan should be covered by their tour operator through ABTA."

Looks like I will have to get in touch with my credit card company and start looking for new flights
lucky you, we get no money back for ed to barcelona
There is now a statement on the Globespan website:

"Any customers who have booked a flight through Globespan Airways Limited operating as Flyglobespan are unlikely to be covered by the ATOL scheme.

Customers who have paid by credit card or Visa debit card should contact their card issuer in the first instance to determine whether they can claim a refund under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 and/or their insurance provider.

The Companies are unable to offer any refund to customers in respect of cancelled flights, holidays or accommodation."

Thanks Globespan for leaving everyone in the proverbial !:mad::mad:

I also booked onward flights from Edinburgh - Manchester which I will also lose the money from .... so it gets even worse :mad::mad:

Maybe time to change to a Med cruise which involves only short flights

yip, same, paid deposit for flat in barcelona, flights to barc were 95 quid each x 4 so just maestro paid them, we will have a rethink as well.
It just friggin sucks.
Trying to keep it in perspective but it is pretty dificult!
locumed all last week to fund globespans creditors, excellant.
So sorry I ever effing mentioned them to you guys.
So any ideas re flights peeps, one way?? virgin, before I make any decisions.

Looks like some have good news and others bad news today.

Well....that's a lovely surprise. Lets hope that letter reaches the UK.

it would be nice to make its way north to us in Canada. Candida has already spent it

This sucks. :sad1:

Wondering if we will get the new OBC since we booked on DVC points. Any idea?

We booked with points and I called today and it is a no go. They said only "select" passengers on the WB TA were eligible for the OBC, but could not tell me what the criteria is for one to be chosen as a "select" passenger. :confused3:confused::sad2::headache:

The criteria is probably those whose letters were already sent out before they realized they were sending to the wrong group of people. :sad2: Just a guess.

Melodie, we did not waste any time. Our wedding was the 9th time we saw each other. They say it's not going to last. :rotfl2: Like Cinderella, my prince knew I was the one (and I knew too) the first night. :lovestruc

Awwww...that is so sweet! I knew the first night that I met my DH that he was my Prince Charming. We'll celebrate our two month wedding anniversary tomorrow! :)

Hi Everyone,
I have agreed to take over the website for our cruise (http://www.transatlanticpirates.com).

If you were responsible for any of the content (lanyards, FE Gift exchange, etc) or had content links, can you send me a PM so that I can make sure that we are all set?

Thanks!
Sue

Yeah, that's pretty much how I roll also... I'd do the same! LOL
But for us it's $500... and we'd have to not only save MORE than $500 if we switched to a cat 12 but also have to be "worth" moving to that category plus for us we have the added benefit of knowing our rooms are next to one another... vs. switching to cat 12 and getting our 2 rooms somewhere on the ship, possibly far apart from one another.
So for us- the savings would have to be considerably more than the $500. Yanno?

Oh no...
hmm, select passengers may mean those that the letters went out.
That's so unfair, if that is the case..... :( I would be highly upset that others got the extra OBC that booked the same time as I did/etc. if I didn't get it too! :(

did we lose whoever was over the website before? I can't remember who that was.... but thanks for agreeing to take it over. :)

I will lose all of the money for the flights from Edinburgh to Manchester .... the cancelation fees are £25 per person  which is more than what I would get back ....which would basically be the tax only.
Hopefully will get back the Globespan cost by claiming on the credit card
The best option for us is to book flights from Orlando to Manchester using Virgin, as at least they are a reliable company :wizard::wizard: even if it will cost us £590 each.
The other option is to cancel the DCL cruise and take another company's med cruise out of Southampton which involves no flights :sad2::sad2:

Sorry to all those effected by Globespan! I hope you can all get something sorted

We've had a bit of bad news so wont be around much for a few days. My grandad passed away yesterday so just wanted to pop in and check on things.
