Welcome Sue & family, I am Michael and DW (hotfudgesundae) is Trish.
I have a question regarding American Airlines that I hope some one can help with. What is the baggage allowance for internal flights in the States, I have looked at the web site 1st bag $20, 2nd bag $30, 3rd bag $100, is that the allowance each or in total. For 3 bags between the two of us would that be $150 or $50 for me checking 2 bags and then another $20 for DW checking the third total $70. Does that make sense or am I not reading it right
Thanks Michael

Most US airlines charge by the bag. It all depends on who you fly and if you are a medallion / frequent flyer. I know Delta waives a bag charge for one level, and two for another.

We are on a flight that code shares with Delta, but the baggage is not governed by Delta.

All the talk about baggage charges gets me thinking. I'll need to look closer into that. A cheap flight might turn out expensive if I get charged here to Ireland and then again Ireland to Barcelona. I thought that most airlines allow 2 bags per person when travelling overseas. May have to wear layers while travelling! Will we be able to mail boxes to the ship? Anyone done this?

Thanks,
Linda

Yes, it was about an hour before the auction and the very kind cast member took our photo for us on about 10+ cameras.

Shutters wanted to charge about $85 an hour to take our pics.

:scared1: Thank goodness for CM's. They do it for a smile and a thank you.

Hello all, I am a new member on the boards but not new to the cruises. My husband, 7 year old son and I are going on the Trans-Atlantic in September and are so excited!!! We did the East bound crossing the first time. We are looking forward to all the fun and making new friends!!

Congrats and additional congratulations to those with the flights booked!

I phoned member services and this time got our cruise transferred to points - I don`t know why the CM yesterday couldn`t do it :confused3 I`ve read that if you book on points there is zero chance of a free upgrade, just as well we like the inside staterooms!

Not so, we cruised on the 3 day just past and received a 3 cat upgrade, from 8 -> 5, and it was a points cruise. On the TA there will be fewer upgrades then on a 3 day, but you can still hope!
Pj

Well I but the bullet and purchased flights rather than waiting for points as I don't think they are going to come up! Cost a fortune but I guess weve saved everywhere else so does it matter?

Did you book with Virgin in the end? What did you get it for? Great to have it booked !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not really, that was the plan fo 2011 but could not resist the pc cruise!
So been pushed back a year, as i say to Len....it all depends on us still being alive, I dont take NOTHING for granted Sarah! :confused3

Lynne - you sound like me! I tend to look at life expecting the worst - then when good things happen I am pleasantly surprised !!!!

(PS - sorry if I am posted a lot - my multi quote isn't working this morniong )

It is so funny reading all the americans posts, well not funny as in haha but...
I and most others from the uk have always just had 1 bag, you must condition yourself to take that much, when we went to La in summer I was jumping as we flew AA and we had 2 cases. I couldnt fill it! I didnt know what to take, I always struggle with my allowance but I eneded up taking stuff I didnt need. I think we will manage ok with the 25kg, even with Lens kilt and all my shoes!

It more an excuse to live every day like I do, booking holidays and saying "who cares!"

Like at the weekend we had a late invite to go to a friends log cabin with them for a night, a few years ago I would have said, Nah we have to do xyz this weekend, not now, were are away friday night!:woohoo:

And here I thought you were just trying to catch Marilyn in post counts.
:surfweb:

You noticed??:lmao: Blame the May '08 Panama Canal cruise for that!!:rotfl2: Plus I multi posted too with being in the UK and having to catch up on the US overnight postings!!

Alot of low budget airlines now only allow 1 bag even for international. I don't know about mailing to the ship as unlike in the US it would need to go through customs somewhere along the way and you would probably have to go and claim it from a post office before taking it to the ship yourself.

Hiya! We were on the EB TA last time too!

Yeah managed to get Virgin for £400 each - got a discount cause of being a Virgin card holder so bit better than nothing. Still a lot but for us time wise it works best. Still wish wed got a points one then it would have been a lot less.
