We had been watching fares for a few weeks - even before we changed our September plans to the WBTA. They were outrageous for a one way from Atlanta to BCN.

We found on the other night that wsa a KLM flight with a 2 hour layover in Amsterdam. Decided to sleep on it... Bad, bad, bad... Flights gone in the morning... :sad2:

I wasn't overly worried - I knew I had time. But I was getting worried about price... Then today I took another look and found a one stop Atlanta to London to BCN for $547 US. I was ready to hit confirm when I got an email from tripadvisor.com for a non stop ATl to BCN for $598 US!!! NON STOP!!!

I killed the window I was in and quickly read the terms... It was a little scary, non changeable and all that... But, we had the airline (AirFrance on Delta equipment) so we went for it. Within about 30 seconds from getting the confirmation that we had been ticketed I had a confirmation email of the tickets - including the eticket numbers. And I have confirmed on the AirFrance web site that we were indeed on the flight (which Delta is changing $2500 for. Well, I just got off the phone with AirFrance and while it isn't customary to let the deeply discounted purchasers choose seats, the rep at AirFrance let us as we are a family. 5 minutes later I had eTickets!! :dance3:

So, no turning back now!! 308 days til we head to Barcelona!!! WAHOO!!! Can we start packing yet? :grouphug:

Well done! Im glad you got them sorted! I already have a bag in the spare room which is turning into a case full of loads of things we have to take!

I think Marilyn must live here - no way will I ever make up that many posts!

me neither : (

Thats a great deal for Virgin - I was looking at paying that sort of fare for a non-stop. £588 pp was the best I could get for Virgin so I gave up. Its just great to have flights booked at last!

Thats a really good outlook on life :goodvibes

Wish we could come - it sounds wonderful! Do you have the recipe for the ACTUAL Parrot Cay banana bread - that was to die for - I was stuffed before I even started my meal in Parrot Cay because I couldn't stop eating that bread! I would have loved to have a DCL house party but they don't let us Brits do it

What do you mean - I have packed already :rotfl: Great flight deal too ..... isn 't it a wondeful feeling :yay::yay::yay::yay:

I know. The full price was crazy but got to love discounts!

OK well looking at excursion has a massive panic as didn't show the tour I wanted to do but if you go into more details on any of the shore excursions on the pages above then look on the right hand side you can see a list of all the excursions and its there! Few!

So where are we in the planning stages. People seem to be dropping like flies. I got another email today from someone else who is most likely bowing out. Maybe the price will reduce:thumbsup2
As far as planning stages go we aren't dropping out, we are more like a hotair baloon. Slowly taking off.

Great and I don't have time to start looking at them now. Should have left for work 5 min. ago. Guess I'll be moving a little quicker getting there. :moped:

If I start packing now then I'll be doing a lot of :laundy: between now and the cruise just to have clothes here. Candida on the other hand will be starting to stock pile things soon.

We are having a DCL Houseparty Saturday. We are getting very excited. Today I shampooed the carpet then made up some Konk Koolers.....we had to try them to make sure they will be good.:rolleyes1 They ARE!! :woohoo: We are planning on having food from around the ship. Shrimp from the welcome aboard buffet, chicken fingers from deck 9, hot wings from the sports bar, banana bread from Parrot Cay, Mickey rice crispie treats, chocolate cups with strawberries from Cove Cafe, tomato basil soup (not sure where that is served), skewers of cheese, meat and olives also from Cove Cafe. A sail away party with Konk Koolers!! :dance3::woohoo: Trivia game after we show the DVD they sent us (the answers are in the DVD). We are expecting 12-15 besides Dennis and I. :cool1:

I wish I could come, especially with it being my birthday tomorrow as well.

Well, I have made a decision regarding my cruise dilemma. I will stick to this cruise and will transfer the reservation that I have for the Eastbound Transatlantic to the October 2nd 2011 Mexican Rivera Cruise. A lot of great people from my most recent cruise have booked this. At the moment I leave that as a solo cruise, but I am hoping to add DH to it sometime down the line. Apart from the great company, what convinced me in the end is that our favourite cabin is available for the Mexican Rivera cruise.

I still have not given up on the Eastbound Transatlantic Cruise. Maybe I can sort something out nearer the time. I just don't want to risk paying this in full and then not being able to go. As there is plenty availability on that cruise, I am hoping that I can rebook this on relatively short notice if we have been able to sort something out at work.

Glad you've made a decision. It sounds like it works for the best.

I read through all the shore excursions and am confused about Madeira. Is everything at least an hour from where we dock? Most of the excursions say things like "4 hour tour, includes 3-3 1/2 hours travel time". Is there anything to do where we dock?

Well the excursons for Madeira are pretty pathetic. There are many more places to visit that are unique such as the toboggan ride at Monte, and the Botanical Gardens. However it is very easy to do either or both on your own. The cable car up to Monte will give a great view of the Magic in port. Also I thought there would be a Madeira wine making tour and possible Madeira cake place tour. I haven't read the details of the north coast tour, but that could included those I guess.

Having spent a week there we will just walk from the port to the town. A very beautiful island.

I wish I lived in Montana, sigh.....

Pj
We wish you did too!!

I do have the actual Parrot Cay recipe....however, it is for a LARGE batch, like 48 loaves or something! I am not sure if I will try to cut it down or just use my usual recipe.

Marilyn, we are hoping you and John will be our tour guides there!! :flower3:

I looked at the dock and there seemed to be a village there but not sure how much is around there to look at

I'm surprised only one goes up to Mote and the gardens (Park & View I think it was). The lack of wine tasting was very disappointing (its mentioned on one of the tours I think but not a tour of a winery or anything) - think thats the North Coast Tour.

I do like the look of the Whale & Dolphin one but not sure about a Catamaran. Are they very very rocky? Hate speed boats cause they rock so much and scared it might be the same.

For anyone interested in Dolphin watching, the one in Gibralter is fantastic! Did the 8am one last time we were there and saw 2 common dolphins and a bottlenose! It was wonderful

Thats a shame, but to be expected with the repo and the new ship coming soon.

Well fingers crossed! Always love a bargain!

We are now fully booked other than excursions

BA flight out on the 17th
Renaissance Hotel on night of 17th
Disney cruise from 18th to 2nd
Pop Century from 2nd to 8th
Virgin flight back on the 8th

Only need to sort out:
Excursions
Bus to and from airport
Palo & Spa

W just have excursions to sort out too and the hotel shuttle bus from the airport.

We never saw any chocolate cups with strawberries in Cove Cafe this time, and we went in most days. I was very disappointed.

That's the point I'm at for THIS cruise. I will be officially cancelling due to some medical bills and the cost of airfare. However, if fate sends me a pile of money (like enough to retire :lmao:) I can re-book at the 9th hour and not be too concerned about rates going up.
.
That being said.....

DOES ANYONE WANT A 'SECRET' NAVIGATORS VERANDAH? I have 7620 booked and would love for it to go to a DISer. If you are interested PM me and we can coordinate timing. No hurry on the decision.

I'm mostly sad about not cruising with my pals and not getting to meet some of you nice folks! But I will be on the Wonder Pamana repositioning in 2011, so I'll see some of you there! :grouphug:

I probably could pack... B ut come spring, I might miss my shorts, short sleeved shirts, bathing suites, etc...

It is a great feeling! I am excited now, and am telling everyone...
