So they check you in at the hotel, this is exactly what I was meaning, how much were the transfers last time, probably be a bit expensive just to get rid of your luggage, might be worth it though.

I agree the hotel is a bit too pricy for us also, bit I am thinking this is all a bit too expensive for us so what the heck!

I just brought up my planning spreadsheet from 2007. I don't have the price from the Hotel-Port, but have $25 listed for the cost of the transfer from the Port-BCN. I want to say it was $30 from the Hotel-Port, but could be wrong.

I just was looking over the prices I paid for things in 2007. I paid $1093.32 for my SFO-BCN-SFO flight in 2007 which was in May. The Disney run excurisions are what broke the bank. I really hope to be able to do more on my own this time.

Really? That's fantastic! Didn't realise they took the bags as assumed you would have to travel with them!

Again, I was on the very first Med cruise in 2007, so I don't know what they changed after that, since we were breaking everything in. My understanding is that they had a truck (box type truck) gather all the luggage from the hotels and take it directly to the ship. Hence why the luggage had to be outside your door by a certain time. Then we had a report time in the lobby to check in and then board the bus to the port. After checking in, we just cleared with them that we would not be on the bus as we would be touring the city. They just told us we had to be on by a certain time (I want to say 5 pm).

They also did a lot of various dance classes on the WBTA and on the EB they did Spanish classes.

Bring on the divorce.:lmao:

Have I told you about our dance lessons, they lasted 1 week!:rotfl:
Thought I'd pop in and see how everybody is doing... we are 2 weeks out from our Family Celebration Cruise and WDW event and we are all very excited, but my thoughts turn to next year too, and how my DH is going to handle cruising and if he is going to love it - and how will he do on the TA ... thinking about how glorious all those sea days would be - and if he happens to "dislike" cruising - if I can convince him I NEED to go on this cruise without him... so many thoughts, worries - and really do I NEED to? We are talking Disney here - how could he NOT have a great time? I really don't need to fret do I folks?

I can always lure him with the Barcelona and Spain portion... oh I'm so sorry I'm flapping... but I did want to comment on the dancing portion of the last few posts - we too took dance lessons and it was mostly a disaster - lack of leading - lack of focus until we got to the TANGO and all of a sudden my little spanish man came ALIVE! So for us, no fox trot... no waltz - but Salsa and Tango - now THAT we can do! :dance3:

I hope you have a wonderful time on your family cruise and try not to worry too much about your DH enjoying the cruise - after all like you say - it is DISNEY - how could he not have the best time!

I am looking forward to the dance classes if they have them - should be interesting - my DH has two left feet!

I bet he will just love cruising. John never ever wanted to cruise, but I persuaded him to go on the Panama Canal cruise last year as my 60th birthday present, and he loved it and is really looking forward to these next ones. He thought he would be bored but never was, and also he never ever wanted to dress up for meals on a vacation. Surprisingly he did hire a tux(and looked wonderful I might add). He met some great people too!!!:thumbsup2

Lovely phot Anne, they look great together.

Since weve had no q of the weeek for months.

Mum and I were chatting last week about this cruise(as we do!)

We were chatting about buffets v sit down,
I just loved to go for sit down bfast, it was so so nice compared to buffet (imho) the only good thing re buffet was that you could sit outside.
I used to go to the gym, then get a lovely shower then sit and be served.
It was all so much calmer than topsiders.
I even had my lovely head server Leslie most mornings.

I am a vegi, I also (for lunch) ordered vegi lasagna, salad and steak fries from room service and took it up n deck.

I personally enjoy getting to have breakfast and lunch in Lumiere's when it is available. I just enjoy getting to relax and getting waited on hand and foot while on the ship (and I traveled solo my last cruise). I have actually only eatten outside at topsiders 1x and that was the day we were going through the Panama Canal, just not my cup of tea. Heck the Panama Canal cruise was the first time in 4 cruises I actually used went into the pool. I love Topsiders when you are running around trying getting ready in the morning before a shore excursion. That is the only time I ever really ate there. I like Parrot Cay over Topsiders when choosing a buffet, even though I know it is the same food and the singles lunches there were lots of fun.

I have been wanting to cruise ever since we got married, but DH was not having any of it. I finally convinced him in November 2007 to book a cruise as we had just become DVC members and had points going spare. We went on our first two cruises in September 2008 and he is as much hooked as I am.

I love breakfast at Lumiere's. I need my Eggs Benedict when I am on a cruise. Lunch I prefer the buffet at Parrot Cay. I tried Topsiders once and just don't like the setup.

I am so happy to hear these reports of the 'boys' liking to cruise - I too am a HUGE eggs benedict - Lumiere's person... my sis and I usually do that at least once or twice on our last two cruises...:lovestruc

My DH loves the Eggs Benedict, and I like the pasta bar at Parrot Cay!

When we did our last cruise we only ate breakfast at Topsiders apart from the one day we had our character brekky! I really enjoy eating outside so I don't really mind the set-up and having to get your own food etc. We also always ate lunch in Topsiders or from the poolside snack places. Next time we will have to try some of the other restaurants for breakfast and lunch. Is it the same food in all places at lunch-time?

When I had lunch at Topsiders, the outside section was closed due to high winds. The inside just seemed frantic and chaotic.

Parrot Cay and Topsiders serve the same food at lunch. Lumiere's has a separate a la carte menu.

Cool thanks for this. We only did airport transfers so weren't sure on the protocol

Peggy Jo you made me laugh! I think they did Tango on the cruise and Salsa and unfortunately Fox Trot lol.

Try not to get too stressed over next year. Enjoy this years cruise and see where it goes from there.

Sit down for me every time! I'm such a girl and uncoirdinated! I can't handle carrying a tray with a drink on and so end up having this awkward what do I do moment at buffets. Don't mind Parrot Cay for lunch buffet but can't handle Topsiders unless I'm just having a snack.

Your morning regime seems far too good for me lol. Mine tends to be:
- Sit down breakfast in Lumiere's
- Pool/Hot tub
- Lumiere's for lunch and sometimes if I only like the starters in Lumiere's I have been known to then go to Parrot Cay as well lol (only done all 3 options once and that was for dessert upstairs as they were doing pancakes).
- Pool/Hot tub
lol

The Veggie Humous sandwiches from Goofy's I think it is still called are lovely by the way! And they do salads to order there as well as lunch time.

Don't worry. Dan (welshwizurd) by other half is coming on the TA and has never cruised! I'm just going to dose him out with sea sick medicine lol
