I don't think I would be too worried right now since it is still 300 days or so away and if you paid with your cc. But on the other hand IF you could get a full refund and it makes YOU feel better then do that. There is nothing worse than having that nagging feeling and to keep second guessing yourself.

I happened to luck out and found a great oneway fare (well it's still nothing to get too excited about) and booked. I was looking at RT tickets because they were more than half the cost of one way and I would have booked a RT and not used the ohter half in a minute and not thought a thing about it.
Ive not even paid in full yet. The new visa debit card is good also for that if you paid by that .
From the Globespan Terms and Conditions:

"If we have to cancel a flight
23.1 If we have to cancel a flight for any reason, and no suitable Globespan alternative flight is
available, then we will upon application refund you all monies paid in respect of the
cancelled flight. Requests for refunds should in the first instance be made by through our Call Centre:"

I don't know if "any reason" includes going bust, but at least it seems like they are willing to give a refund if they cancel your flight - so that's something !

I dont think it is the same. But if you paid by cc you will be fine anyway. Len brought me the article today from the paper, it paints a completly diff picture from reported here.
You know i was interested to learn globespan provide baggage and check in other airlines. The article I have says lots of others have tried to investe so we can expand.( I knew they would say that but..)
The amount me and mum spend with them will keep them in business anyway:lmao:she booked today to go to egypt in dec for a week, to the hilton at sharks bay. anybody been?

re globespan, ive been thinking, I wonder if you can cancel?
cause if you can, you wouldnt blame folks then they will go bust!
now I am worried, not about my money but about he good flights!

The only thing is I don't know whether they count the airline going under as cancelling flights but they might do. If not don't panic you are covered for booking on a CC!

Most airlines have a pretty good get out clause for cancelling flights so you loose money so I don't think that many people will

We were booked on an ATA flight to Hawaii in 2008. 2 weeks later, it went bankrupt. Our cc company took care of it. Not only that, there was a clause in my travel insurance that covered bankruptcy. There was a list of airlines that weren't covered though.

We couldn't get any cheap flights at that point to go to Hawaii, 2 airlines had gone under in 15 days I think, Hawaiian and ATA. We wrote off Hawaii and that's when we booked our first Disney cruise so all turned out very well for us.:)

Since most people pay by cc I think, noone should worry or panic. It'll all work out.

Linda

I looked at the cancellation policy and if you cancel you lose your deposit which I imagine is the amount we have paid at the moment - likely to lose more by cancelling than by the airline going bust so not a viable option in any case. Oh well - nothing we can do except hope and keep everything crossed. At least it's the flight home and not the flight there.

Exactly! They tie you in so best to leave it for now and hope for the best. AA was almost going under for like 4 years wasn't it? I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

thanks :hug::hug::hug::hug:

and whats the worst thing that can happen - we get stranded in Orlando - not exactly a problem :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Well I have had a play on BA's website. What fun!! Economy flights.

One way Manchester to Barcelona, changing in London from £740!!!:lmao::lmao:

Return Manchester to Barcelona, changing in London from £176.

Return London to Barcelona(have to get to Heathrow) from £112

One way London to Barcelona from £78, but will probably be around £100 for decent time.

So, one way from Heathrow it will be, with an extra bag. Now need to look at ways to get to Heathrow.

The recipes:

DCL Banana Bread: Dennis' calculations
4 cups flour
4 bananas crushed
1.5 cups of brown sugar
.5 cup white sugar
2 tsp baking soda
.5 tsp salt
3 eggs
3/4 cup milk
1 cup oil
.5 tsp cinnamon
.5 teaspoon vanilla
1 tsp baking powder

the sugars, eggs, milk, oil, vanilla, and bananas get mixed together
the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon get mixed together
Then mix them all together
Spray 3 loaf pans with cooking spray to prevent sticking
fill the pans about half full
bake 350 degrees for about an hour. A toothpick stuck in the center should come out clean when they are done. Dump out of the baking pans onto a cooling rack. Cool completely before cutting

Konk Kooler
1/2 ounce dark rum
3/4 ounce light rum
1 ounce passion fruit juice - this is what I had to look around for - finally found it at an organic food store
1 ounce pina colada mix
1 ounce orange juice

Place all ingredients in a shaker and shake vigorously. Serve in a tall glass filled with crushed ice. Garnish with a wedge of tropical fruit.

So, one way from Heathrow it will be, with an extra bag. Now need to look at ways to get to Heathrow.

That's what we're doing. Our friend will be dropping us off at Heathrow as we live in London.

We need a kind friend to drive the 200+ miles from Harrogate to Heathrow!!!

What time flight are you taking? The ones later in the day are cheaper, so we would probably go with one of those.

Were on the 8:10 one on the 17th. Oh and did you check booking seperate flights from London to Barcelona and Manchester to London? Sometimes this works out cheaper weirdly

No I didn't. I must give that a try.

Well that is just ridiculous!!:confused3

One way Manchester to Barcelona changing at Heathrow is £740.

One way Manchester to Heathrow is £31
One way Heathrow to Barcelona is £78 Total £109!!!(two charges for extra bag though)

Still have to get to Manchester. Will be juggling the costs on between that and travelling to Heathrow for the £78 flight.

We're on an early flight that gets us in at 12.30.

I think Sarah or Lynne noticed a similar inconsistency a few weeks back which is why I thought I'd say.
