Popping in to say hello:wave:

We will be visiting DisneyLand next month. We haven't been there in about 3 years...spending our time in Florida;). Our DD1 is in San Diego. Her DH was injured in Afghanistan last August. We were there for Thanksgiving. He is doing well, but has still more surgury, (putting his leg/knee back together) scheduled for the 1st week of June, so we will be visiting them also, no DL for them this time. DD1 and DD2 and families were all in DL the 1st weekend in May. DD2 was able to get into Club 33 with someone she meet on the disboards. Anyone else in DL 6/18 & 6/19?

Well, that's what we've been doing. I am going to try to make an effort to keep up. Hope everyone is doing well.

Linda

DrHug and I with DGS 9 might be able to make it on June 18. We have a wedding in San Diego on June 20 that we really want to go to. DL is always on our must do when we get to So Cal. :thumbsup2

Hey Everyone :)

Just checking in with the thread. And watching Samantha Brown in Barcelona on my DVR. It was on the Travel Channel a few days ago. The city looks beautiful. It just makes me want the cruise to be sooner. We are thinking over a day before the cruise. Will one day (or 1 1/2 days) give us enough time to see some of the highlights of the city? And should I learn some basic Spanish?

Have a great night everyone
Annette :)

Too bad.......I know a few WBTA sailers who will be going, we may have a mini meet. :goodvibes

Trust me, it's a bummer! Actually, I have to admit that if I would have had off that weekend I probably would have been out in Twinsburg, OH at the annual Twins Days Festival with my twin sister. I'm going to find out ASAP when it is next and I'm taking off before my boss can! LOL!

Hiya

Yes I'm sure it will be enough time to get the highlights in. Definately see the Sangra Familia (sp?) and the dancing fountains they are fab. We did most of the city on a tour through DCL (free tour on the bus that picked us up from the airport actually lol). There are obviously loads more things to see but you can get in the main sights.

As for basic spanish, we didn't learn any and didn't have an issue but it depends how you feel. Barcelona has a lot of English speaking people (I give them credit for being good at a second language) so its really personal taste.

We've been very busy out here in CA. We had some rain the beginning of the month but now are looking at temps up to 100 this coming weekend. Managed to get most of the yard trimming and laid down a new brick path before the heat sets in. Trying to get my veggie beds done. We love being able to go out and pick tomatoes and peas and eat them right off the vine.

We snagged a wonderful semi-last minute deal on Magic's first trip to Tortola last month. It was beyond fantastic as we were able to grab an upgrade at port:thumbsup2 Not sure how the school feels about our daughters missing some 13 days of the 2008/09 school year cruising and doing the parks. Thankfully, they are both good students as they're going to miss a minumum of 12 days of school for this trip in the 2010/2011 school year.

Oh what did you do in Tortola? Is it nice? How big was your upgrade?

Was there any thoughts or talk on the homework club onboard? Do we know approx. how many school age kids will be on board? My DD2 is a school teacher that received her pink slip, along with 27,000 other teachers here in CA. I'd love to bring her along and I'm sure she'd love to come.....but hopefully, she will be back in a classroom by then.

Like many, I am sure, we are waiting for the flight schedules to come out so that we can firm up travel plans for this trip. Right now, our flights are booked through Disney arriving one day beforehand, but if we can travel a few days beforehand and stop in Ireland for a day or two, that would be great. I'd also like to change our accommodations in Barcelona to something less expensive. This will have to be our only vacation in 2010 as DH only gets 3 weeks of vacation per year. Our final payment is due 4/12/10.

Were having the same debate on how to work out dates etc. At the moment DBF gets 22 days leave a year which when you take out Xmas doesn't leave much. Hoping he gets a job where I work though (application went in Tuesday) as he'd then have 25 days leave plus up to 3 days flexi he can take a period so would work out well. Fingers crossed.

The website looks great. I signed up months ago to help Hadley with the Lanyards...

I'm glad your DD1's DH is doing OK. Wish him good luck from me for the 1st of June.

Let me know if you go and how I will recognize you!

Oh what did you do in Tortola? Is it nice? How big was your upgrade?

Tortola was beautiful. It was a little overcast and a downpour began as we left the beach but it didn't spoil our day. We did the island tour with lunch and beach time at Cane Garden Bay. The tour and tour guide Courtney was fantastic, stopping many times along the way so us tourists could take pictures. He pointed out the outlaying islands, the history. We got to the beach one way and came back to port another way so truely an all around tour. The lunch was delicious also with salad, rolls, a rice dish, grilled veggies, jerk chicken? and bbq ribs that melted off the bone...all you can eat:goodvibes It was yummy. It will be hard to decide what excursion to take next time. Everyone says the baths?

Our upgrade was a paid for upgrade. We went from a cat 6 to the cat 1 Roy Suite. The supervisor told us that in 7 years she's never seen a cat 1 available on sailing date. Figured we would never have that opportunity again at a reduced price and took it. The ship was certainly not full on that trip. Lots of moving around I think based on what was available for upgrading. I know that they put someone in the room that we vacated.

They just today offered etime(?) off for DH due to work shortage. Basically, it is time off without pay or penalty. We will try do that for 6 days he has off next month and bank those days for 2010.

I'm glad your DD1's DH is doing OK. Wish him good luck from me for the 1st of June.
It is very frustrating for him as the recovery is so very slow and painfull. He gets through his days with pain pills although he is trying to take only what is needed. He has thereapy Mon-Fri. The only other option for him is amputation and there are days that it sounds pretty good to him as those who were injured at the same time and lost limbs are already up and running. Doctors are hopeful that they will be able to give him some mobility in his left leg. Thank you so much for the well wishes.

Angie (MrsMork) & Dennis (Dr Hug)

This must be towards the end of the cruise, (May Repo '08) as they have a good layer of sun glow.

Hi Everybody! Haven't been on in a while because Abby finished school and we have been going around Florida doing fun things.

Linda, so sorry to hear about your husband's recovery. He will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Barcelona is a beautiful city and I would plan 2 days at least - if you haven't been there before. Everything we did, we left saying, "I wish we had more time."

Anybody doing anything special for Memorial Day? We are just staying around. By the way, we got almost 6 inches of rain in 5 hours the other night in Lakeland!!! It refilled our lakes and our grass is starting to look beautiful after months of no rain. It was very exciting.

I will get back to watching the Bourne Ultimatum - LOVE THAT MOVIE - anybody else????

I drove through the San Joaquin Valley yesterday and the fiields have already turned yellow. Fields are still green here, but not for long. Average temp in Sacramento this time of year around 82. Sacramento should hit 100 tomorrow. Last year, the fires in Northern CA were so bad. Fingers crossed for a low fire season.

We don't see too many movies, but we saw a sneak preview today of Night at the Museum2 - The Smithsonian, it was pretty good. We bought Slum Dog Millionaire not too long ago and liked that one also.

Hope everyone is have a good weekend.

Linda

DrHug liked the Bourne movies alot. :thumbsup2 I am not much of a movie kind of gal, but I did enjoy them also.

Hope you have a lovely relaxing time in the Lake District and that you have a great birthday - hope the weather is better than it is here in Wales!

Speaking of movies - we went to see Angels and Demons last night and it was excellent. I can certainly recommend it!

and as of next week, by my calculations, we are in the 60-something weeks to go instead of the 70-something weeks to go, and that is worth celebrating!
