What is/are your favorite NON-BROADWAY Disney stage show(s)? So the Broadway versions of AIDA, Beauty & the Beast, Little Mermaid, Lion King, Tarzan and Mary Poppins don't count....but you can pick shows from any of the parks worldwide or the ships!!

On land it would be Festival of the Lion King and at sea Disney Dreams.

I ended up missing Twice Charmed in September so that is on my must do list for our next cruise. Twice Charmed was on formal night and I had gotten my first ever evening gown for the cruise. I was so excited that I could finally dress like a princess that I ended up missing the show.

OK....so I will throw out a question of the week for this week's amusement:

Do you like how I worded the question with the door open for people to have multiple answers? I'd like to say that I did that for everyone's benefit....but it was mostly selfish because I know I can't name just one! :lmao:

My/our favorite CURRENT shows are:
"Festival of the Lion King" @ Animal Kingdom
"Finding Nemo: The Musical" @ Animal Kingdom
and "Twice Charmed" aboard the Magic

I love the "Hunchback of Notre Dame" show that was previously performed at MGM.

I also really enjoy the "Festival of the Lion King" at Animal Kingdom as well.

I like Finding Nemo and Festival of the Lion King at AK. Disney Dreams is my favorite on DCL. I am looking forward to seeing Toy Story for the first time on the Wonder in May. I also liked the Art of the Story, I thought it was well done.

I don't know that I have a least favorite, at least nothing comes to mind at the moment.:goodvibes

Two of my favorite shows were also at DHS ( back when it was MGM)- Hunchback of Notre Dame and before that, Pocahontas. I wish they still had a show back in that area. Those of us in w/c's who can't do many "rides" really appreciate the shows. As to the ones on DCL, I really don't like "Toy Story" or " Twice Charmed" but my favorite is still the Golden Mickeys. When they sing the song about following your dream I get all choked up. I also liked Art of the Story- saw that one twice and would love to see it again. On land I still love FOTLK and BATB.---Kathy

By the end of the conversation with our travel agent, I wasn't sure whether we wanted to arrive in Barcelona the day before, or arrive in a different city the day before. That, plus him explaining the various ways of being able to book different components, and him saying there was still plenty of time to wait, is what made me NOT book anything extra. DH and I keep going back in forth as to whether or not we want to arrive the day before the cruise or a few days before, but we're leaning towards arriving at least one day before. Perhaps I should just add the flights and the pre-cruise hotel now, but he led me to believe that there'd be availability via the hotel itself, as the cruise gets closer, and that the rate would be much less than what DCL would charge. Ah...I don't know. LOL :upsidedow

I know right now the only hotel that's even left via DCL ( out of the ones that were originally offered) is the Le Meredian which is the most costly. I was lucky to get the Hilton which was a much better deal or I'd have had to waitlist one of the others. I like having everything covered under DCL and their insurance anyway though even though it might cost me more money. With my medical needs it's just not worth it to me to have things that I won't have help with...for instance if there's an issue with the flights or accessibility at the hotel. For now I booked two prenights- one to recover from the flight, lol, and one to enjoy BCN. This way I also have all my transfers included and they'll arrange for lift transportation for me vs. my having to deal with that on my own. It's just a matter of choice but my feeling is that you can always cancel later but you might find yourself in a waitlist situation if you wait ( as is already the case on those hotels ). ---Kathy

I missed a few things over the looong weekend (really long for me in the packing/selling things/tiring kind of way) so in case I missed anyone--WELCOME TO THE GROUP anyone who is new:upsidedow

Stephanie--The photo of Brooklyn is fantastic. Are you allowed to say who the shoot was for?

Hadley, Marika looks so happy! I'm so proud of her! :goodvibes Did Rio get his dance award yet for his years of dancing?

So I went to the doctor today and I'm out of work for another week. I'm still on crutches so I'm glad that I'm not going back yet. I'm by next week to be down to maybe one crutch or none. My fingers are crossed.

I'm just glad that I'm going to be home tomorrow for the inauguration. Regardless of who was on the political ticket in November, tomorrow is a historic day - the USA is getting a President. I'm very excited to watch the coverage tomorrow. :)

I am glad you are feeling better and that all this pain at least bought you a ticket to be home and watch today.
You are so sweet to ask about Rio. They are throwing a party for him at the dance studio and giving him an award on Jan 29 (the day before we leave!):goodvibes

We watcehd Obamma's speech o nthe laptop at the library. I was "on" the circulation desk at the time and two men who ahd been there all mornign had to come and ask reference question halfway through (and then went back to reading the newpaper after it was over''ARGH!) so I only saw half. All 5 of us who work there have a decidely liberal bent so we all ended up bring cupcakes, cookies, etc to celebrate today. It was fun.
OK it is official DH and I changed our cruise to the WB TransAtlantic. We were going to do the 12 night capital city cruise too much money for 8 hrs at each port. So we are doing the TransAtlanic again. :cool1: Our cabin is 8528 Cat 4. All the mid ship CAT 5 and 6 were gone only a 200 dollar difference. Has anyone stayed in a cat 4 before?

Welcome! Always fun to add new people:wave2:

Thanks to everyone who posted their congrats for my cheerleaders.

Yeah that would be Cheer San Francisco. They're an LGBT (and allies) adult cheer squad who are HUGELY talented AND popular. They also do lots of charity work and fund-raising for great causes like AIDS charities, etc. They were, I think, the first squad of their kind....but now there's a whole network of them all over the country. If I lived close to one, I would ABSOLUTELY be a part of a squad like that----but the closest one to us is in NYC.

Erik, you could always start a squad in Rochester:hyper:

OK had to change it to Obama's quote "With hope and virtue, let us brave once more the icy currents, and endure what storms may come." as for some reason administration was being sensored?

Odd that, that would be sensored. . .but I like the quote you chose:thumbsup2

Other shows we love that are not in production anymore include:
"Tarzan Rocks!" @ Animal Kingdom
and on the TA in 2007 they did a show called "Art of the Story" on the ship. I know this was not a universally popular show and, actually, I think that a lot of people really hated it----but we LOVED it!! It had a bunch of my favorite songs/shows included so I thoroughly enjoyed it and I would not be one bit disappointed

Just as a note, our least favorite shows:
"Mickey Dreams" which they did as a special show on the TA, too. (And I heard a rumor they tried to do it on the most recent PC cruisings, too, but they only did it in one direction because it wasn't very popular)
"Hercules: the Muse-ical" which used to run on the Wonder. I never really got into that show and wasn't sorry to hear that it is gone now...but we are very much looking forward to seeing the new "Toy Story" show that's on the Wonder now when we sail in May!

Ooooh good question:thumbsup2

My answers:
Festival of the Lion King
Twice Charmed
Aladin (in California Adventure--we only saw it when new and i hear it has gone downhill, but it was really good way back when)
Also LOVED Tarzan Rocks

And Erik I totally agree with you about Mickey Dreams and Hercules the Muse-ical (but I would add the Nemo musical in there also:p )

Dave:
Fantasmic (he isn't sure if this counts as a stage show but he doesn't care he says:snooty:
Off Kilter

Marika:
Twice Charmed
Carousel of Progress (she says it is a STAGE show!):lmao:

Rio:
Twice Charmed (he wants to play the Wicked Fairy God Father some day)
Festival of the Lion King
The Jammitors
Tarzan Rocks before they took it away
Voyage of the Little Mermaid "when they have a good Ariel":rotfl2:
Disney Dreams

We had a tough time narrowing it down to this many:joker: We can and have spent days at the parks and not gone on any rides, just enjoyed shows::yes::

I didn't know there were other groups. I thought the report I heard said they were the only one. Maybe they said they were the first. Too bad you're not closer to a group. Guess you'll have to live vicariously through your squad.

Without a doubt Aladdin, A Musical Spectacular at California Adventure.
But I do also enjoy Festival of the Lion King.

FAVORITE SHOWS,
wow thats a tough one, I love so many.:goodvibes

At MGM or Hollywood studios I loved the old Hunchback when it was there.

Epcot love all the old time rock n roll bands during the Flower power concerts each year. Plus The British Invasion at the UK world.

On the Magic, Disney Dreams

Fantasmic is also awesome if that kind of show counts.

Kathy

Yeah, we have only been to DL once and we did see Aladdin while we were there but we were unlucky and they had lots of technical problems during the show we saw so we were not entirely impressed with it.....I have been told by numerous people, however, that it's a great show and worthy of a second chance....so when we make it out there again we'll have to give it another go.

I'm so heartened to see so many others liked "Art of the Story"!!! I know that show got a very bad rap but I just loved it!

I liked Hunchback, too, even though I only got to see it once while it was there!

And-----Hadley, I remain convinced that the reason you don't like Nemo is because you haven't seen it enough. The first time I saw it when it first opened, I wasn't that into it either....then I saw it again with my parents who wanted to see it....and liked it a bit more....then I saw it with your family and liked it even more.....now we see it eveyr time we go and I like it better and better. I listen to the CD at work all the time!! I think it's a show that some people don't immediately love because they don't know all the songs....but once you do, I think it grows on you....so in December when we're at WDW together (*crossing fingers*), I'm going to drag you kicking and screaming into the Nemo theater!!! :rotfl2:

So we LOVE the Aladdin show at DCA.
Nemo at AK
Disney Dreams on DCL

Worse Disney show I have ever seen.....When Mickey Dreams!

Im am not into shows, I have the attention span of a tadpole!!!!

But I liked the Golden mickeys.

If you have sound on your comp, listen and watch this clip, Len jumped of his sledge as it went over the mountain, Mum and I go from terrified as it just missed someones head to uncontrolable laughing then when it went off piste for about 6 miles down the hill!!

I like Disney Dreams on DCL and Lion King in AK. Hadley, Abby loves Carousel of Progress and thinks just like Marika. We have to see that everytime we go! Darrell loves the bird show at AK and Beauty and the Beast at Hollywood Studios. To be honest, I have not yet seen Nemo.

Erik - great question!!!!

Good Morning Everyone!:coffee:

Happy New Year! I wish everyone a healthy and happy one.

I haven't been on the boards lately. Like most, the holidays just take time away.

I had knee surgery in December, going thru physical therapy 3 times a week, going home to NY the first weekend in January for my nephew Daniel's Boy Scouts' Court of honor, he is officially an Eagle Scout at the age of 15! I am so proud of him and his ceremony (he planned it all by himself) was so solemn.
i flew home on the 2nd of of January, when I woke up on Saturday there was 6 inches of snow on the ground, Sunday we had a ice. There was a plane that slid off the runway Sunday night. When I left on Monday they had to de-ice the plane twice.

Got home safe Monday night. Unpacked my winter clothes and packed my warmer weather clothes for my trip to WDW. I should have kept some of my warmer clothes with me. The weather was colder then usual down there but
not even that was going to deter my trip to spend my birthday with Mickey!
I was treated like royalty on my birthday! The crowds quieted down after the marathon so there was no wait for the rides. It was great spending two weeks down there.

Now back to realty! Have to get back to work so I can pay the balance on the cruise.

Once again HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! to everyone.

Karen

Oh Jason LOVES the Star Trek Next Generation and Voyager series of books. I can almost guarantee he'll have at least one with him on this cruise!

Just dropping by to say Howdy to all.

My internet keeps going off, but I do lurk when I can.

My fingers are too cold to type most days, I keep thinking tropical islands but my body is saying your nuts! Its fereezing outside:lmao:

The week is half over, so have a great second half to your week.:goodvibes

I had knee surgery in December, going thru physical therapy 3 times a week.
What did you have done to your knee? I had my ACL reconstructed 2 weeks ago so I'm doing PT 3 times a week too!

As far as the QOTW:

Me - Cinderella's Surprise Celebration when it used to be at MK.
Dream Along With Mickey - MK
Festival of the Lion King - DAK
Twice Charmed

DF - Hoop-Dee-Doo-Review

Hope everybody is doing well! :)
