The most hectic thing this week, however, has been gearing up for cheer competition. Our area's competition season really officially kicked off this past weekend. Yesterday was my Varsity girls' first tournament....and despite a really REALLY challenging season (lots of behavior issues, injuries, girls quitting, etc.) I'm pleased to say that the girls I work with from Fairport High School are, as of yesterday, officially the Monroe County Division 1 Champions! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2

Erik-Congrats on the HS girls winning the tournament! I was always way to uncoordinated to cheer- takes alot more hard work than most might imagine.

KATIESMOMMY- Did you get the Cat 11? It was still available today.

Kathy

Hi everyone!

Just checking in... It's been awhile since I've posted and I'm sad to say I have not been keeping up with the thread. :guilty:

Some of you may remember that my mom had a stroke in November. She is doing really well, so that has been a huge relief.

I don't have any excuses for not keeping up, just have been busy with the holiday, kids and miscellaneous activities!

I hope all is well with everyone and I pledge to do a much better job at keeping up with this thread!

Krista - glad your mom is doing better. Welcome back! I was gone for a few weeks too. Lots to catch up on. Glad to hear you had a nice and busy holiday! Stay warm wherever you are. We just got the weather report and Tuesday and Wednesday the low will be in the 30's - for Orlando?? Can you believe it?

Monica, I am so on that. As there are several people who have expressed interest in the train, perhaps as we get closer we can find bunk mates in our group. Monica, do you remember was there any room under the seats for bags?

Pj

There were a lot of us last time and someone arranged a group rate as well as travel from DL Paris to the train station and then pick up at the Barcelona train station to the port.

No room under the seats/beds. Your seat converts to a lower bed and then there's an upper bed. Under the lower bed they store the cushions and such that made up the daytime seats.

Marika - CONGRATS!!!!!!!!! I know you have been working hard. pixiedust:

Buckeye Gal - sooo sorry to hear about your car, but in your weather I would be happy not to have it for the 3-day weekend. I can snuggle, stay warm and not go outside. I hope it all works out for you.

Hopefully this cold weather will pass soon. It seems California or Arizona has the best weather.

People that are staying in another country before the cruise, did you tell the airline that you wanted a layover or how did that work? I am dreading it and wondering if I should just do the Disney thing too.

I just booked a one way ticket San Francisco to Paris. Then train travel from Paris to Barcelona. Finally a one way ticket home Orlando to San Francisco. Didn't need to tell the airlines anything. If you were trying to book a multi-city or open jaw ticket (all your flights with same airline on same reservation) then yes, you'd have to tell them what you needed to do. Many websites allow you to book multi-city now so you could do it all on your own.

Hey all...

I haven't been posting much the last week, but have been lurking. Busy busy week here in Rochester with work and everything....and it's been FREEZING!!! Plus Jason and I started a new workout program (I think I referenced it as our new year's resolution) which has us getting up by 6:15am every day to work out before we leave for work....and neither of us is a morning person so both the hours and the workout are KICKING OUR BUTTS! (We're so sore most days we can barely move :lmao: ....so we just eat and go to bed every night:thumbsup2 ) The most hectic thing this week, however, has been gearing up for cheer competition. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Other than that we're just gearing up for our trip with my parents in May....and I'm getting REALLY irritated that Disney still has not posted the park hours and schedules for May of 2009 yet!! My window to start booking our advanced dining reservations opens up at the end of this month and I really need to know what hte Fantasmic schedule is going to be that week so we know when/where to book a Fantasmic dining package. ggggrrr!!!

Hope you're all well and staying warm----especially if your weather is anything like ours is now!!

You're annoyed???? How about trying to plan a DL vacation and the March dates are not posted yet, although I haven't checked yet today.
ah, I see Todd beat me to it

I thought about you and Jason the other day. The news was interviewing an adult cheer group from SF that will be in the innagural parade. Since you're the only ones I know that are involved with cheering, you crossed my mind.

Hadley, Marika looks so happy! I'm so proud of her! :goodvibes Did Rio get his dance award yet for his years of dancing?

So I went to the doctor today and I'm out of work for another week. I'm still on crutches so I'm glad that I'm not going back yet. I'm by next week to be down to maybe one crutch or none. My fingers are crossed.

I'm just glad that I'm going to be home tomorrow for the inauguration. Regardless of who was on the political ticket in November, tomorrow is a historic day - the USA is getting a President. I'm very excited to watch the coverage tomorrow. :)

...I'm visiting Chicago in May...

I was in Chicago early last May for a nursing convention and packed lightweight / light-colored clothing (since we in Alabama were staring our second month of spring) only to find myself in a very cold city among locals who were still draped in black and brown. Coming from AZ, you might be in for quite a shock (as you will probably have 100 degree weather by then - I did when I arrived in mid-May to Phoenix several years ago for a new job).

YIKES! If I were you, I'd book everything possible with DCL and then cancel later. The last time around with the TA lots of people had to waitlist things and then paid more than if they'd originally booked it. Right now, only the most expensive hotel DCL offers is available so you might want to get on a wtl if you want one of the less costly. I'm surprised your t/a would talk you out of booking air/hotel when you don't even have to pay for it now or truly commit to anything until final payment.

Kathy

By the end of the conversation with our travel agent, I wasn't sure whether we wanted to arrive in Barcelona the day before, or arrive in a different city the day before. That, plus him explaining the various ways of being able to book different components, and him saying there was still plenty of time to wait, is what made me NOT book anything extra. DH and I keep going back in forth as to whether or not we want to arrive the day before the cruise or a few days before, but we're leaning towards arriving at least one day before. Perhaps I should just add the flights and the pre-cruise hotel now, but he led me to believe that there'd be availability via the hotel itself, as the cruise gets closer, and that the rate would be much less than what DCL would charge. Ah...I don't know. LOL :upsidedow

The resort is right on the beach. We are now at Fort Wilderness.:goodvibes

Have a great time, wish I was at WDW too! :sunny:

Congrats to your cheerleaders!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Fantasmic is my favorite nighttime show at WDW; I hope the dates come out soon so that you can get that all booked. :)

Hi everyone! :wave2:

Just checking in...

:surfweb: - This has been me planning our WDW trip! So excited!!!! :cool1:

I updated the website this morning with all of the new people that have emailed me. If you posted your roll call information on the boards and you do not see your info in the roll call please email it to rollcall@transatlanticpirates.com

This thread sometimes moves too fast for me to keep up with it! :rotfl:

I hope all is well with everyone!

We are enjoying the CA sunshine. The girls have been swimming all weekend. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the weather stays nice for Super Bowl weekend!!!! We always have a huge party and it would be great if everyone could swim before the game!

So I want to share a photo with everyone. DD did a photoshoot last week and the pictures came out AMAZING! Here is one that I just fell in love with!!!!

Thanks for adding us to the Roll Call page, I appreciate it :)

Your DDs are gorgeous (I can see them in your signature) and the picture you posted here is just beautiful! Like someone else already said, it looks like an ad! :sunny:

I saw you post on the Polynesian FAQ thread on the Resorts Board, I hope you have a great time there. pixiedust:

I'm sorry to hear about your mom's stroke, but I'm very happy to hear that she's doing so well! ::yes::

I haven't read back very far on the thread, but I take it that you had surgery? Anyway, I'm glad that all is going well now. :)

Yep, I grew up in NW Indiana and lived in Chicago for ten years, so I know that May can be very iffy (and it usually SNOWS at Easter, even if it was 70 the day before..:lmao: ) Luckily I can steal something for sister's closet if I need to...or at least I can if I drop a few more pounds by then.

Howdy everyone,

I just thought I would say hello. I have been busy getting ready to move back to Florida in April, if all goes well.
So many little loose ends to tie up before leaving.

Plus maping it out and where we want to stop along the way.
I have to start way ahead of time, I am so slow about doing things.

I have been lurking and will post again soon,:goodvibes

OK it is official DH and I changed our cruise to the WB TransAtlantic. We were going to do the 12 night capital city cruise too much money for 8 hrs at each port. So we are doing the TransAtlanic again. :cool1: Our cabin is 8528 Cat 4. All the mid ship CAT 5 and 6 were gone only a 200 dollar difference. Has anyone stayed in a cat 4 before?

We stayed in a Cat 4 on our first (and only) Disney cruise. I won't be too much help in comparing a Cat 4 to any of the other staterooms but I can tell you we had plenty of room. DS was 2 and he would typically pass out in the bed with me and DH would either sack out on the couch or squeeze in with us. During the day we had ample space to spread out if we were in the room.

Thank you! And yes I am SOOOOOOO excited about our stay at the Poly!!!

No I decided to just keep the Cat 10 as I am thinking of going to a Cat 9 to get a window. Thanks for checking though!:goodvibes

Welcome Figment!

Our public schools are closed today because of the inauguration. Anybody else out there closed - work or school?

We're not closed, but I work at a TV station....so we'll be watching it all day anyway! :cool1:
