Bev :)

I'm up for it anytime. Name the date!

I've added some pics to the flicr account and 2 movies from Maho beach - although not actually checked the movies yet

The plane had mechanical problems (at the time we had no info as to what) on take off at Gatwick and had to turn round and land again. They thought it was sorted (how scary!) but obviously not, so when we arrived at MCO we were told it would be delayed 2 hours til 9.45 pm.

As usual there was a complete lack of info all night....felt sorry especially for those with babies and young kiddies.....they eventually managed to make a decision to put us up in the Hyatt........after having to reclaim all our baggage and collect vouchers from the ticket desk we got into our room at 3 am.........better than some who had problems and didnt get booked in til 4.30 am!!!!! Then we had to get up and queue at ticket desk again to try and get on another flight the next day!:scared1:

Some people didn't get on flight til much later than us (we were on 6 pm flight back) and they also bumped some off the flight......chaos! To add insult to injury they handed out food vouchers for bf etc, but it didn't actually cover bf at the Hyatt so ended up paying for that as well as other things.....:sad2:

Sorry, needed to get that off my chest! I shall be sending an email and follow it up with a large complaint of course, but veryy unhappy with the lack of customer service from VA....apart from one lovely girl yesterday morning who was doing a great job....could have done with her the night before!

Oh......and the problem was with the wing flaps so quite a major one and they had to fly some parts out from the UK apparently! :scared1: Glad we weren't flying on that plane! (Ruby Tuesday)........

I think that we got lucky on our flight back yesterday. We had a Heathrow configured 747-400 with the v.port entertainment system. The crew were also surprised at the aircraft. I presume this is related to the problems that you had, with that plane still out of service.

We also had some problems with 1) wrong staterooms booked and 2)credit card not charged.

I got an email from DCL with the above mentioned problems right before Franchesa from DCL called us on Tuesday, Oct 5. Within minutes of getting the email, I was just getting ready to call DCL when Francesca called me to discuss the bookings. Luckily, we got all of the issues that were incorrect resolved in our favor.

During the call, I expressed my displeasure with the on board booking process at that time and was assured that my problem was as isolated incident as the credit card was mistakenly not charged. When I queried her about why they were sending me an email if the credit card was not charged, she said DCL was giving me a second chance to rebook since the original on board booking had expired. She said there must have been a "misunderstanding" on why the credit card was not charged.

As for me, I didn't think that explanation sounded reasonable since DCL gave me different rooms in the "new" booking but since I was able to reinstate the original rooms with the on board credits and pricing, I didn't make too much of a fuss.

I hadn't heard anything from anyone else on the board or if they posted, I missed the posting, so I thought it was just us that got things messed up with the on board agent who seemed pretty overwhelmed when I spoke with her. With all the on board bookings DCL seems to do, it seems strange to me DCL only assign one agent for on so many on board bookings.

Just my thoughts...

Noel,

I think that the agent was indeed overwhelmed by the volume of bookings. She said she estimated 80% of the passengers had rebooked a cruise. I asked her this at around midnight on the last night (desk was supposed to close at 11.30, I arrived around 11.00 to a line of 4 people ahead of me, and quite a few (DISers) after me)!

It was nice to meet some of you during the cruise. Maybe next time we won't be so shy!

I would agree with you about the numbers but I can not imagine DCL should have been surprised with the numbers of rebookings on previous DCL TA and PCL cruises. Personally, I think it is just another one of the cuts DCL has made in customer service.

John and I enjoyed meeting you and your family. Hopefully, next cruise you will interact more with the DIS family.

Maybe that was indeed related! Glad you got back ok anyway :)

We arrived home on Friday night. The cruise was awesome and we had a great time at Walt Disney World. I am so glad that we did the counter service dining plan at WDW (just too much food with sitdown). The good news is I only gained 7 pounds on the cruise :). I am also glad I was able to jog on 11 of the 14 days on the cruise. Without the jogging, I would have added twice the weight. With the counter service and more jogging at Pop Century, I have a couple pounds off already. Kathy only gained 2 pounds :cool1:

We booked the Sept 20, 2011 repositioning cruise from Vancouver to LA onboard and can't wait till next year.

I have been going over our trip photos :surfweb:and still have to download video.

We were so pleased to meet all the DISers :grouphug: and hope we sail with you again.

Life is not the same without our Disney service crew: dining - Toto and Cindy and stateroom - Jenny. We hope to see them again on another cruise.

Hey everyone! I've been back for a week and too depressed to login.
It was great getting to meet everyone and I am so glad to make friends from across the world. Noel, thank you for hooking us up with Min Yu and his family in Madeira.
The drink tastings were fantastic and seeing everyone with a lanyard or the transatlantic t-shirt was such a great conversation starter. It was amazing how many of us were in Disney world last weekend.

It was such a great time, I don't know how I can ever top it.

Does anyone have the details of the photo account? Can't seem to find it...thanks :thumbsup2

I think this is the pirate story. A guy was out jet skiing on a lake between USA and Mexico with his wife. The guy was shot at by a group of pirates and fell into the water. The wife sped off for help as she couldn't reach him to pull him on to the jet ski. There were issues with the search for him due to the fact that the lake is on the boarder between the two countries. There have been issues with Pirates here previously. Here's what I've found:

Thank you, that's the story i mean.

I'm working on my pictures and starting to sort through all the "stuff" I brought home.

Wanted to say a big THANKS to all of the Scrapbook Exchange group (Dee, Annie, Noel, Kimberly, Brenda, Sarah, Sandi, Melodie, Wanda, Sue, Sarah, and Janice)!!! All the stuff is wonderful and so varied!!!

A special THANKS to Sandi for organizing the Exchange--it was a great idea!

Now I need a little MAGIC :wizard: to find the time to turn it all into spectacular scrapbook...

Andrea

Hi 'neighbour'! :goodvibes it was great to meet you onboard (and on the shuttle going from the Renaissance...weren't we all excited!) :)

It was really nice to know our neighbors. You were such a sweet couple. So glad to have met you!!!

OK finally caught up and last load of the washing is in the machine.

We had a fantastic time and thanks to everyone who made our holiday so special! There are so many of you that I just can't believe I didn't even see on the cruise but those I did made it even more special and hopefully those I didn't aren't offended that we didn't catch up with you.

We had a wonderful time in WDW too going on all the rides and enjoying the sunshine. Today in South Wales its sunny and fairly warm but coming in on Saturday to cold rainy weather was a shock to the system.

The only downer regarding our holiday was the baggage issue in Port Canaveral. When we got to WDW we unpacked one case to move stuff around and found that my DCL Beer Stein was smashed into around 40 peices and my Pirate Night light up glass was crushed along the bottom. One of the Castaway Club champagne flutes was also cracked down the middle. So not happy and can't get a clear answer from DCL as to whether I can claim for this or just for the cases. DOES ANYONE KNOW? The case isn't damaged and so can't claim for that.

Anyway everything else made it back in one peice so all good. Just waiting on food shopping now which is due any time.

Thats rubbish sarah, can you please post or send me a link to your flickr acc.

I am now really pleased that I didn't rebook on the ship .... I am now finding prices online which are less than the ones I was quoted on the ship, even taking into account the booking on board discount. This happened to us last time aswell. :confused3:confused3:confused3

I still can't book anything until we know whether DD Taryn has got a place on the WDW college programme for summer 2011. That will dictate our plans for 2011, as if she gets it we will have to travel to Orlando to see her at some point. She has her first interview in about 2 weeks so all pixie dust you can spare would be useful :wizard:

Do we have a list of who is cruising when and where in 2011, just out of interest :thumbsup2

Sending some pixiedust: your way!

we didnt book... yet. Have alot of dates to figure out and the time Howard can take off. But whatever it is it's going to be fun:yay:

Hey All

I'M HOME

just spent 8 days enjoying "The World" now back to reality :sad2:

I had the most amazing trip ever, Abby and I both agreed that the best thing about the cruise was the people we met, seems all those hours of reading endless pages was really worth it.

:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

We had a great time! We met so many fun people who became new friends. We especially miss the non-stop laughs :lmao: with our awesome, brilliant, *****in' tablemates. Hope everyone stays in touch.

Andrea (& Greg)

P.S. Found my Mickey watch at the Orlando Disney store...

Hey Andrea

"ditto" on the table mates, I loved sharing a table with you 4 for the trip

Oh well.... the clean up guys made of a mess then the water and fallen ceiling. I found a plastic bin that had 10 years of Mickey head christmas ornaments and a wreath... all moldy or broken sitting in a couple inches of water. Im finishing up all day tomorrow. Hey... but it is keeping me out of trouble:thumbsup2
I had a blast with our tablemates... not one dull moment there!:rotfl2:
Love to the both of you!:grouphug:

Annie:flower3:

What a disaster to come home to i'm so sorry :sad2:

I hope you manage to get on top of it all super soon, and knowing you I KNOW you will.

You all made my very first Disney cruise SO SO magical.

Sarah hopefully she'll get September next year cause thats when they do a large in take. We are on the 30th October Dream (Halloween). Oh and we saw you and Tony in Magic Kingdom at Splash Mountain on the 2nd but couldn't shout loud enough for you to hear us (we were up at the railway station waving like nutters)

Oh no ... I am so sorry we missed you :sad1::sad1: We had a great day and ran into a few folks but it would have been lovely to see you too

I could just do with popping into Quiet Cove cafe now for one of their lattes and a chat with my shipmates........:grouphug:

I could definitely do with that myself ..... life here just isn't the same :sad2:
