Sept 17 2005 Magic - am i alone on the ship?

Donna - I'm really glad your kitty came back. You must be relieved. Thank goodness you didn't lose power and you'll be able to fly out.

Bye-bye to everyone who's leaving or about to leave. We'll see you soon!

My DB and DNephew are in Florida. They got in last night after a series of mishaps (their first plane had a flat tire). To all of you flying out Saturday morning - I wish you smooth flights!

Jen - 24 is one of my favorite shows too! I can't believe I forgot it on the long list of crime stuff. I'm glad there's a few others around that like similar shows. My only problem is not enough time in the day to watch all of the shows! Now if my Tivo only had a bigger hard drive I'd be in business!

DD4 is getting excited. She told me yesterday that Mickey's boat wasn't clean yet so we couldn't go on our trip. I told her it would be clean by Saturday. I can tell the entire drive she'll be asking whether the boat is clean yet!

 :Pinkbounc :bounce:  :Pinkbounc :bounce:  :cheer2:

I am officially on VACATION - work is done for the week. HURRAY!

TWO MORE DAYS TO CRUISIN' TIME!

Sweet Sue

Hi all! I have a little over 2 hours of work and A LOT to do, then a couple of beautifying appointments, then finish packing -- then hopefully to sleep. We have to leave our house around 2am this morning to get to the airport, but then we have an entire day to relax and lay around the Hyatt. Oh, that reminds me, I need to call them. OK, bye for now, I'll try to pop back in.

W. Can't wait to see/meet everyone!

OMG...how did I forget 24?????? DH loves the Simpsons, we watch it regularly, my problem is I can't keep up due to working a lot of early mornings make for early nights... I would love to have Tivo...one day :cool1:
Well everyone I'm trying to finish work up today so there is not much to do tomorrow... :rotfl2: who am I kidding there is always more work to do tomorrow... :rotfl: anywho, just trying for an early get a way. DS comes into the bedroom and says 'Mom my glasses broke" :rolleyes1 sooooo he's off over in Gainesville about 45 minutes away to Lens Crafters to repair or replace :smooth: It always has to be something :teeth:
Will post more later :rolleyes1

Has anyone been watching the new storm developing? I hope it will go elsewhere.... But so far it looks to be heading towards st. thomas and st. martin. We leave at 4:00am, sorry I haven't posted and gotten to know everyone.

I'm baaaa-aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack. :)

I predict DSis will like her gift as well. I hope she left room in her luggage!

Delta declared bankruptcy today - yikes! I called and our flight is still set to go on Saturday and the following Sunday, so I hope it stays that way.

I want to give Oliver (DDog :rotfl: ) a bath tonight, but we'll see if it actually gets done. The packing is done, and we need to set our VCR to tape our showsssssssssssss (lots of S's for lots of shows).

I am excited for everyone who is leaving, and Donna I'm so glad your cat came home. My family loves cats (I prefer dogs, but kitties are good too), and any of them would be CRUSHED if a cat disappeared in bad weather.

I think that's all from me for now. Keeping an eye on storms!

Safe travels to one and all.....

Oh, and Pam, shame on your for APOLOGIZING for trying to joke with me! I'm a witty charming gal - I appreciate your teasing! Apology NOT accepted. :)

Hi all,
I think I have everybody just about packed. We leave in an hour or so to spend the night in Nashville and then we will be flying out in the morning to meet Jen at the Pop Century. Can't wait to meet you all in person on Saturday.

Have a safe trip, Get Out of There and everyone else who is heading out today. Tell Jen we have missed her today!

Excuse me, Jenny- where are we meeting when we arrive Saturday??? Is there any information about this anywhere? What should I do about my door when I arrive? How should I decorate it? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: HA

Hang in there, Wendy. It won't be long now!! Have a safe trip, too.

Pam.

You're making my eyes twitch with these questions. I am to be OBEYED, not interrogated! Why are you patronizing me? You KNOW I cannot handle the ingorance of FFCers. Please refrain from asking any questions of this nature in the future.

By the way, why did no one tell me how GLORIOUS a pedicure is? Do they all massage your feet in hot water, rub your feet with sugar crystals, massage your leg up to the knee, wrap you up in warm towels (lower legs), and let you sit in a massaging chair? I was SO missing out! And now my tootsies are lovely. :teeth:

Amey, where are you getting this info on the storm? I've checked several weather sites but none show it as a TS or with a projected path. :confused3

We all love people, meet when you want/can stay as long as you can/want

Jenny, go to accuweather.com. Click the link at the top to go to their hurricane center.

There should be a map of the Atlantic region. The storm isn't named yet, nor is it even a Tropical Depression. It is a storm that is beginning to form off of South America.

Batc, where did you see that it's headed toward St. T and St. M? It looks pretty far away. I wouldn't want to be in say, Trinidad, looks pretty rainy, but I'm hoping it won't affect our ports.

the storm is heading west 10-15mph, toward the windward islands, but it could change at anytime. Not saying it will hit either port. I go to the discussion area on noaa and the web site stormcarib.com. Trindad is in the area, but I don't think it's part of the windward islands.

Amey

Let me see if I can help everyone on the tropical stuff. Noaa or the NHC don't really track a storm until it becomes a tropical wave. Storms progress from disturbance to tropical wave to tropical depression to tropical storm to hurricane. Most storms don't even make it to tropical wave. There are two "storms" in the Atlantic besides Ophelia. One is a distrubance near Puerto Rico. It isn't "organized" and will most likely die off. This one is causing rain in St. Thomas right now. The second is a tropical wave about 800 miles away from the farthest east Caribbean islands. It's currently traveling at 10-15 mph. It has the "potential" of becoming more over the next 24 hours - moving from "wave" into "tropical depression" status. Once it does that, the NHC will begin tracking it with a number and we'll see cones of probability, etc. It might mess with the ports we end up in, St. Thomas and St. Maarten in particular, but then again it might not. It really isn't worth worrying about since we can't do anything about it - other than pack a generic "Caribbean" guide in case of port changes.

I will post at least until tomorrow night - and possibly Sat. AM if need be. My DB is bringing his laptop with wireless, so we should be constantly in the know as we're cruising. That is - if you even WANT to be. Cruise ships have a way of making you care less about the weather - as long as it's sunny where the boat is!

Now here's my Jenny pep-talk. It will be FINE. You will have FUN. Your sister will have FUN. You will not CARE what port you are in. You will have FUN. A bit of rain will not bother you. You will have FUN. Course changes are opportunities to exercise your flexibility. You will have FUN. No matter what - we WILL have the Sweet Sue Suite Birthday Selebration! So.....

YOU WILL HAVE FUN! :Pinkbounc :cheer2: :bounce: :Pinkbounc  :love1:

DNana is not currently having fun. DB and DNephew arrived last night. DB and DNephew are boys :earsboy: . DNana is a girl :earsgirl:. For some reason, DNana thingks DNephew can shop all day at boring places and be quiet. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Do you see the conflict? :rotfl: Luckily Sweet Sue (a.k.a. The Peacemaker) will be entering into service on Saturday. :teeth: All parties have been advised to remove all weapons prior to boarding the Disney Magic. Mediation talks will commence immediately after boarding. Should such talks not provide immediate relief, massive quantities of alcohol will be poured down the throats of any adult relative still able to argue. :rotfl: At which point they will be allowed by the mediator to join in the FFC Mickey pool party!

Sue, apparently, at some point along the way, I must have given you the impression I'm worried about tropically depressive weather... :confused3 Strange, as I'm not in the least bit a worrier. Hmmm.

Honestly, what I'm worried about is, will I have fun?

:rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Thanks for the pep talk and explanation. Since some of our members have already departed, the rest of us need to say extra prayers that these bad weathers go awayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! :)

Survivor Guatemala is starting in 10 minutes. DSis wants to watch this season as she's adopting from Guatemala. :cheer2:

At this point, we do NOT have a generic Caribbean port guide. If it turns out we need one, will someone be gracious enough to let me peek through it?

Okay, off to peruse the big board, as Wendy says, and watch Survivor. :moped:

Sorry guys, I didn't mean to cause any stress, this is just the message on the stormcarib website from st. Martin. Hope we all have a safe and wonderful cruise.

ODMP urges residents to monitor closely the progress of a Tropical Wave east of the Islands

GREAT BAY, St. Maarten (GIS) ? Disaster Management Coordinator/Fire Commander Winston Salomon, said on Thursday that the Office of Disaster Management & Preparedness (ODMP) is currently closely monitoring the progress of a vigorous Tropical Wave that was located on Thursday at 5.00pm 850 miles east of the Windward Islands.

Residents are being advised to monitor the progress of this system which has the potential to become a Tropical Depression over the next 24 to 48 hours.

?We are coming up to the weekend and we have a weather system east of the Southern Windward Islands that bears watching. Should the system develop further, the community will be informed accordingly via the appropriate media,? Disaster Coordinator Salomon told the Government Information Service (GIS) Emergency Support Function (ESF-8) on Thursday.

Disaster Coordinator Salomon added that the hurricane season is not yet over and that residents should continue to be ready and prepared to take action should that be required.

So far for the season, 15 tropical storm systems have already formed of which three have been classified as major hurricanes (Dennis, Emily, and Katrina).

The 2005 hurricane season concludes on November 30 which means 10 more weeks to go.

Jenny - I'll be glad to lend you my little Frommer's guide to cruising the Caribbean. It's a great "quick look" guide.

batc - thanks for posting the information from the website. Being a long-term Floridian, I'm rather used to the "official" "keep an eye out" forecasts. All it means is they have no idea whether it'll be a bother on not. Regardless, Disney won't ever put a ship in danger. We'll either have great weather and go into port, or steer around it to drier, sunnier pastures. Either way - it's a cruise for FUN!

9weet Sue (who has been paged fiften times by my DD. She is now resorting to saying "MADRE" since I haven't deigned to respond to "Mother" in English. It's amazing what Dora teaches!)

Hi all, DD and DGD returned from the Wonder this afternoon with my luggage. Now I have no excuse not to pack. Why do I always wait until the last minute?

Speaking of TV...does anyone watch Lost? DH and I really like it. The new one that is going to be on right after it looks good too. Think it's called Invasion. 24 is hubbys favorite show. I can't watch it. Makes me too nervous. I have enough real life stress to deal with. We both like sitcoms. We love to laugh.

Why am I babbling about TV? I really need to get packing!

Donna

Nine months of preparation and I am still packing.

Wanted to wish everyone a safe & speedy journey to the port.
Signing off until 3 pm Saturday at the Mickey Pool

John
