Sept 17 2005 Magic - am i alone on the ship?

They still won't give me early seating. Have all kinds of excuses of why people who booked after me with older children are getting early seating. However, I (& my TA) will keep at them!

I have a vague recollection of Nerts, but I don't remember where I played or with whom (my perimenopausal brain just doesn't work too well anymore! :scratchin ). Sounds like it could be fun to get a game going, though!! We love games; we tend to gravitate more towards board games than cards, although hubby enjoys Spades (which I totally SUCK at!).

Getting ready for our evening out in San Fran!! Waiting for hubby to call and let me know he is on his way home from work. :hyper: :cloud9:

Karen

Children's Dramamine - I was only able to find it at Dillon's here... Walmart didn't carry it. I've given it to my 3 year old for car sickness before, seems to help.

Going to go home!!

Bye. :paw:

A clue, a clue!!!! :teeth:

Nerts sounds really fun. I'd love to learn. I think I'll bring some cards, too. I love playing solitare, but it always ends up being slap jack when DD sees the cards! :flower1:

I guess folks that are getting early seating even if they booked after me, booked through a travel agency that reserved early seating space in February 2004. So, I'm at a disadvantage for using a local travel agency.

I'm getting my pen and paper out and will call Disney. NOT HAPPY.

No luck. I was nice, but the lesson is, it is NOT first come, first served -- it's who is your travel agent. As I explained to the woman I just spoke with Disney is making an inaccurate statement on the level of the individual family booking the cruise, but we all know you never can tell what "is" is....

So, I'm an extremely unhappy DCL customer today. We'll see what manana brings.

Wendy, I really think that's a croc. I'm glad for other FFCers who got early seating, and apparently we belong to the dark side because we WANT late seating, but it seems like it should be first come first serve. I hope it works out for you, but there will definitely be a place at our late seating for your fam.

Karen, glad for you for the docs but boo-hooing for us. I was really hoping our TA would get them today so he could mail them out BEFORE he's gone for 10 days. Not a big deal, but I just want them now.

Oh, where are mine? I want them and I don't want to be the last one getting them again this year. I feel like I should be getting early seating but I think I will do better with late. We all are night owls and we missed one meal last year due to getting back from Nassau too late. If I could ask for early seating and then pass it to you I would but I don't think they would allow it. I have eight people in my party, how many do you have and then if I get it we could switch? Just a suggestion! How about if you get a doctor's excuse saying you have to eat by a certain time? I hear medical reasons let you get your seatings changed. Sorry, I don't know how else to help you.

Lorra

Oh, I forgot I did get on the third ship of Lord's. My mom is going and yes I did get my vouchers so I know it is true. I got an e-mail back from Lord (because I tried to book directly wioth them instead of by shoretrips.com and he told me I'm on a waiting list for the third ship already so there goes that plan. So I said to myself suck up the $60.00 and be happy you even got on it. So I'm being happy now. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I don't know when we'll get our doc's. Our lucky TA is on a Disney cruise right now. And won't be back until after Thursday. Did I say lucky?

Wendy, I am so sorry that dining times aren't working out for you. Like Lorra said, are any of you diabetic or anything like that, that eating times would affect? If you are there is a form you need to fill out, have your doctor sign it and fax it to DCL and that should solve the problem. It may take a few days before you see any affect and if you don't at least when you call to YELL again, you can give them a very valuable excuse and it might get them moving.

Wendy,

From a recent experience, I suggest two things.
1. Persistence, persistence, persistence.
2. Persistence...

Talk to a supervisor. They can work magic that regular call people can't.

Send an email to dcl.guest.communications@disneycruise.com. You'll get a form email back, but I got a call from a magical "back office" supervisor for a similar first-come, first-served problem within about one business day.

And to add some fuel to your fire. I got my main seating in October 2004 when I booked direct with Disney. So I don't know WHY you can't get main seating if you waitlisted earlier than that!

Good luck!

Sweet Sue

Our experience with requesting early seating is very good. We just wait until boarding then make the request at the place they have setup for dining requests. We've never been refused an early seating request done that way. So, have no fear! I'm quite sure it will come through for you. :)

MSWint: That looks like the every loving Diamond Head in the background on the picture in your posts. :) Gotta love that place. I work not far from there, and my wife is from Georgia.

Yup! That is Diamond Head ... We've been 3 times as a family, and I lived out there for two years ... U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Jarvis.

Hmmm, Kaneohe ... I'm guessing a "Hoorah! Marine!" is in order. pirate:

We have late seating...which is what I told my sister (KSUmom) to get...but I obviously was not hinking of my kids when I made that decision! They go to bed between 7:30 and 8...they will be a mess for the cruise!

I heard there are strollers available of the ship...does anyone know the details? I am bringing our double stroller to use while we are off the ship...but I know it is too large to use on the ship. I was thinking of bringing our umbrella stroller to use on the ship until I heard there are strollers available on the ship.

:flower1: Oh, I'm probably just being dramatic abt the whole thing. We booked in April last year for this same cruise and got early when we checked in. Pixie Dust and all... And thanks Sweet Sue for the web address. One of the supervisors did send a request to Debbie, the dining coordinator, to switch us, we'll see what happens. I kept DD up a bit too late tonight and she turns into whining demanding child from some bad place when she's sleepy but refuses to admit it and I really don't want to deal with that on the cruise. Who would have guessed 4 would be this hard? Anyway, thanks for letting me vent all. I just know it will work out. :flower1:

I did not get my docs today either! DS checks the mail every morning hoping to find them. I am having a hard time finding any of the La Vida Mickey CD's here. If they don't have it on base I will prob order thru Amazon. I never imagined it would be hard to find!

Jen, did you get my email? Congrats to all of you that have received your docs. Sounds like everyone has been finding lots of shopping deals. That has been the good thing about cruising in Sept. Everything is on sale!! -Donna

:flower: Hi to everyone!! Just been catching up on posts & getting more & more excited about how close the cruise is getting!! :cheer2:

Good nite to all!! :grouphug:

Jen I sent it to your regular email, not a pm. I also sent you one with Tony's info for the kid's page. -Donna
