Sept 17 2005 Magic - am i alone on the ship?

Missy, I hate to hear that you might have to cancel the double scoop. I imagine with school it is hard to get away that time of year. I hope you still get to go. Hang onto those SPH rooms, they're already gone on the 11 night from what I've read. Someone said they were waitlisted for it, and went on DCL's website and there was one there, so they booked it online last night and were going to cancel the other room ressie they had, so I think that was the last one.

Those 10 and 11 day special cruises are so tempting. However, we are booked on the 9/16/06 double dip. We booked on board last year and got such a good rate that I just cannot justify $1700.00 more for four more days. We would also have to cancel our 5/7/06 four day which means we would miss 2 days of CC. CC is my very favorite thing about DCL. Haven't even told DH about these special cruises yet. I know he would jump at them. I am a bit more practical. Guess I am a bit more selfish too...I really don't want to give up my CC days. I really wish that DCL would have planned this sooner. Maybe we could have booked a spring double dip and still have managed one of the others. The prices are much too high to change now. Oh well...

As for what to bring on board to drink...we will probably pick up a bottle of Havensight Licquer in St. Thomas and use the drink station for coke.

Have a good day everyone!
Donna

Welcome Lisa!

Just got word our early seating waitlist came through! Praise the Lord - my kids and late seating do not mix!

Did you orginally choose a late dinner seating? I now wish we had taken the early dinner seating...I never even thought about it when we chose the late seating. My sisters kids are used to having a crazy schedule...but mine are not. They will be a dissaster for dinner!

Welcome to the FFC Lisa! I don't know if your sister told you about our "just the facts" post, but it's post 1250 on page 84. You can get a link to it in my signature line.

Jen, I'm glad to hear nothing is wrong and you're just busy. I was starting to wonder.

Sue? Cristal? goofyboots? Fred & Leota? haven't heard from you guys in a while (plus several others I can't recall right now). Stop in and say hi!

I'd love to do the 10 or 11 day next year, but DSis will exhaust her vacation, sick time, and personal days next year for FMLA pay when the baby comes. So she won't be able to afford it. Our next trip won't be until April 2007 with our mom and Hannah (the baby), and that's to WDW. I sent out a mass email to my extended family letting them know the details, and so far a couple of other families are interested, but the beauty of WDW is that there's so much to do we dn't have to see each other unless we plan it.

I think today I'm going to pack to see how much room it takes. I'm taking dinner to a family in church that just had a baby tonight. Not much else planned for the day.

TTFN!

I have a question about the kids club and I am hoping you all can help me with it. I saw some kids navigators and noticed they have scheduled activities through out the day, which is good. My question is what if a kid dosen't want to do the scheduled activity and just wants to play? Do they let them do that or do they have to do the activity? Also my boys are 4 and 7 which puts them both in the Oceaners' Club but in different age groups. How often will they be together during their time in the club?

Trisha,
When we were on the Disney Wonder, my son (who was 3 at the time) was allowed to climb and play and use the computer while we stayed with him when other kids were doing the activities. Unfortunately, they seem to really enforce which age groups are together. My nieces were 2 years apart but they would not let them go in the same group for the activities, so they did not attend any of the kid's club activities.

For those of you near a Famous Barr- they are having a 75% clearance on their dresswear for adults and kids right now. You can really get a good deal now. I bought my DS a couple sets that include a polo shirt with v-neck sweater and pants for $7.00.

I've been checking the online Palo reservations daily on the Disney cruise website. There have been some high tea times that have opened up if anyone is interested in booking that.

Hope everyone is having a good day!
Pam

Wow, I'm gone for two hours and we almost have a full page to catch up on. THe whole weekend there wasn't even that many posts. I wrote down our list of clothes to take and when I was making lunch my nephew scribbled all over the paper and now I can't read it. Now I must start all over. Oh today I am not so happy with him. I watch him and my other nephew Mondays and Tuesdays so my sister can work. In fall when the kids go back then my sister will watch my 4 year old on Wednesdays and Thursdays so I can work day shift. I didn't have her watch my kids this summer because I don't think she could handle all of them and she just had her baby in April so I gave her a rest. I work at nights in summer so I can spend the days with my kids. My nephews are three and a half month and two years old so they can be a handful. I'm definitely getting ready for this vacation.
Missy- I am doing the same thing next summer. We are planning a trip to Las Vegas and then driving to California for a week and a half to see things. Iagree I want my kids to see other things besides WDW. I want them to see the desert, the Seqouia trees in CA, the Golden Gate Bridge, etc. It is going to be hard passing that booking desk on the cruise this year but I'm going to have to. I can't swing both vacations next year. I think I work alot now, I would kill myself next year trying to do it all.
Well, I need to go into their drawers and write down what outfits to take on the cruise again. My kids are all outside right now so it is quiet. They found two kittens that apparently my cat had weeks ago because they are pretty big now. We live in the country with alot of farms around us so we have outsiode cats that just wonder about outside. My dog usually kills the kittens so it is a miracle that they survived so now the kids are doing cartwheels because finally they have new kittens. Sorry, I think I am just talking too much so now I am out of here. Take care and as usual I work tonight so I will check back in at 11:30 tonight.

Lorra and Missy, sounds like we are on the same page with vacations. Hubby has been out in DC for the last week and wants to take the kids next year. I will have to see what the closest DVC resorts are... there is a hotel in DC, but they don't offer large enough accommodations for all of us. Probably Williamsburg will be the closest. But that is a good destination as well!

I am still waffling on the formal wear. I have found a dress online that I like and it isn't expensive. Problem is that I will need shoes as well. We have never made the boys dress up beyond nice pants and shirts. Maybe we'll do ties this year, but no need to go out and get a suit that they will have outgrown in a couple of months.

Karen

Hey we can switch coasts with each other next year! That can be cheap for both of us. Only kidding!

Lorra

I guess I was too slow to book Palo again. Good to know it may open up...I will keep looking.

tracyl921, how did you know you got the early seating? Did someone call you or do you just keep checking your reservation?

Welcome Lisa!

I also learned that they added a fishing excursion on St. Martin. My DFIL was quite happy! I guess you have to keep up with what may be new there too!

Not much else here to report. Counting the days! I am having a birthday party for DD (1 yr) this weekend. I need to learn how to not have such big get togethers! I think it will be about 50 people! I told my DH that was it for having groups over until the Sunday School Christmas party! Just thinking about getting everything together makes me tired! My DD and I also have August birthdays, so we are making this just an August Birthday Backyard Bash...had a nice ring to it! It should be fun...but a lot of work on top of working, taking care of baby and dealing with morning sickness! Oh well, you only do a first birthday party once! We are having a Mickey Mouse theme. Oriental Trading had a cute package of party stuff and we are trying to get DD to recognize Mickey before the trip. She already has a talking goofey that she just loves. He has a horn sound like the cruise boat and tells knock knock jokes. He is anoying, but funny.

OK...I will quit typing and get back to work!

We were originally given late seating because early (aka main) seating was full. We asked to be on the waitlist for early. Since ours is a group of 10 we thought we'd have a tough time getting switched to the main seating. I sent an e-mail to the TA yesterday asking if she'd heard anything yet, got word back, nope nothing. Then Karen (Skycon) sent her an email pleading for the early seating, the TA called DCL and :wizard: voila, main seating here we come!!!!! :cheer2:

Thanks! That is helpful to know! We are wait listed as well...I may see if I can get my TA to beg too...smile!

I got an email from Lord Sheffield today re: a 2nd boat doing the same itenerary.. anyone else going to book? I think I might snag it for the 9 of us.. didn't know if anyone else had heard from them or not. pirate:

Lisa, That post was hilarious! Welcome. We are glad to meet the "other" sister!
Tammy, in my experience this is a very active board. We have 20 regular posters and 5 who pop in from time to time, and then a couple who pop in even less frequently but still come back to say hello. I feel very lucky to be part of it :grouphug: (that sounds like you don't...of course I didn't mean it that way..just was an afterthought).

Never...Never meant it to sound like that, I just meant that other people should get on board with tus and jpin the dis boards. Sorry if others looked at it differently. To all a good night :wizard:

  Everyone...

I did pop in a few pages ago....Maybe one of those small overlooked ones.. :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 Kidding..

I am glad you are all doing well, and are so busy with your plans..This is great...Soon you will be under a month.. :Pinkbounc  :cheer2: I hope to cruise with you all next year, or thereafter..I know I will....

Everyone is doing great on the homefront, one of the hottest summers on record here, like just about everywhere I think...Kids go back to school on the 29th...SO the Coundown is on...  That is for me, and not them... :earboy2:

Working away, and that is about it...We may head out to the Jersey shore for a couple of days, and we may not. TIme will tell..The summer is nearly over and this is the first year we have not done anything, and I feel incredibly guilty for that...ANyone ever feel that way? My DH says that they went on 3 cruises in 18 months, and I know that, but now when everyone goes back to school, and they are asked what they did??? Well, we swam, swam, swam, played football, soccer and that is it!!!!!!!!! I don't know..I guess we always feel guilty about something...

SO, that is all I have to say...Just wanted to make sure no one forgot me.. :guilty:

With a great big hug to you all.. :grouphug:
Sherrie

Here is what I have been working on. I'm sure there are still bugs. Let me know what you think, what I did wrong, and if you have anything to add. It takes a little bit to upload (if you have dial up I bet it will take forever) There are a lot of pictures. Once it is in your cookies it is fast. Hold the curser over the pics indicated and they will change (wait until it is fully loaded). Have fun!

Hello to all,

Jennat, great job on the website but I do have a small correction -- Maryanne (SnowWhite 9917) is not married and Robert is her brother not her husband. :rotfl2: Like Jeff Foxworthy says, "You might be a redneck if your family tree is a straight line." :rotfl2:

2 week warning before our children go back to school -- We did some shopping this weekend for our daughter's. Found three wonderful dresses at Talbot Kids for $ 50.00 grand total. DW has already mentally planned out her(7) dinner outfits. I think I am going to rent a tux that they deliver to the ship but I also found on the mainboard where I can purchase a Tux for $ 149.

Welcome to all newcomers.

John
