Sept 17 2005 Magic - am i alone on the ship?

Good idea Wendy! I also love the fact that when you have an emergency plan the stars usually line up and you do not need it! Only bad things happen to those who are unprepared, RIGHT???

:love1: Kiss and make up. Make a phone chain. Put me at the end. Everyone know that I (as well as my sister and husband and MIL for that matter) are the most resoursfull(where is the spellcheck?) people I know. I am guessing we will know all, so feel free to call me if you want! :teeth: If I don't know I will have to make something wonderful up since I am being such a know-it-all..........beware of what is the truth and what is not. Depends on wether I have had my happy pill and an adult beverage as to how far fetched the make up stories can get.

I think I am going to be outnumbered Jenny. ::yes::

OMGoodness I have got to get some sleep!

Missy

Jen, you did just fine, don't get a headache :headache: over trying to add the other one in, thank you for insuring my presence on board!!

Where I am a virgin hurricane cruiser, hearing about those bad guys is like a hot line with my job. Whether or not to send people out in it, or allow papers to hit that area of Fl. hauling trucks from S Fl to S Ga. has to be decided, so we have people who call us daily with work to get the up to date info out.
I think everyone will feel better if they have the option of a phone list. As it gets closer we will probably rethink this and other options more than once. I wasn't going to take my lap top, but can. Being from Fl. these things can move and change directions on you with out any/much notice. I'm telling you though I have a good feeling about this year. (maybe it's 'cause I'm going)
Anyone can call me at any time that is why I gave my number, if we go with a phone tree, (as we do at work in this season) and you don't want to give your number...then don't. Options are just that..... options.

You will find that we will bat this around and come up with what fits our group best. I think it is a smart idea to make some kind of plan, just hearing what these guys went through last year.......

wow i'm not liking all this H******** talk - there is not going to be one this year!

but the idea of sharing info is essential.
SMS or text message is prob the best method. you write one text and send it to all the numbers on the list, but use only for solid info - such as a port change or H********* party in whoevers room until it all blows over.

funny you know we never even considered the H issue before it was mentioned here all of our Disney trips ahve been about the same time of the year and i don't think we've even been rained on. oh well i just hope our luck holds again. :teeth:

Missy,
Yes I was on the Wonder last year! We were in WDW for 6 days before the cruise so I was so out of touch with the outside world. We didn't even know a hurricane was coming until the night before when Disney got ahold of us. When they told us they were delaying the cruise I didn't even know why. I told her I thought that hurricane went around Florida. It may be easier leaving two days before the cruise, I will have more up to date information than being down there without tv and the internet. That is alright if we don't do the phone thing I now know that I need to be more in tune with what is happening around me while I'm down there. I was new to the situation last year being that it was my first time down there.

P.S. I did see you waving last year from the magic.

Beloved FFCers,

I hope I didn't sound like the kid on the block who gets tagged running to first base and says, "FINE! I'm taking my ball and goin' home!" I didn't mean for my post to come off as such, so thanks for the kisses Missy! :)

I think everyone's right - we'll suggest an idea that will change closer to. Seems only natural and good and right and just and all things holy. :) I think Jen's idea of family groupings could work out well. I don't have text messaging on my phone; can I still recieve a test message? And certainly I'll be checking the weather channel every 10 seconds if there is a threat of non-MAGICal weather junk. I just want to know I'm connected to someone in case chaos strikes between 3 AM and 9 AM.

BUT - you all are right. When we plan, the plan is useless, and then we think geez we wasted at that time making the plan, but we could reframe it (counseling buzz word! :) ) and say, AH yes, but the plan PREVENTED the chaos. That's what I'm going for. And I've seriously enlisted my prayer partners to start praying now, so God is good and He'll answer those prayers in the best way He sees fit. :) If that means nastiness, I guess we'll all be drunkards who never step foot onto an island and just hole up in Sue's suite! :) ::yes::

And for interested parties (which is apparently limited to me :)), the quote, "Be gentle with me, be gentle with me" is from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Sheesh, even a movie with a Disney attraction and I couldn't coax anyone to play my game with me!

Later all!

Jenny, You need to get together with my husband (whatever) he is a movie freak...he can seriously tell you what the name of the person in the background walking by the fountain is. I bet he would love your game. I don't remember anything...maybe "I WANT MY TWO DOLLARS" or "YOU LIKE RAISINS" same movie...anyone (Wendy this should be in the bag for you)..it's about 18 years old. I think your idea for a phone tree was a great one. Way to get the ball rolling...I agree with Missy, we will just refine it so we are sure it works. I will also get and post the number we call for hurricane infor both from Disney and the Port (closing). We had a BALL last year after we evacuated. But had we waited and not gotten a hotel room...YUCK!
My biggest thing is I don't want to go western again or have a shortened cruise. A lot of us are at the pop century (Jenny?, Trisha, Jen, John) and a lot are at the (Missy's place).....we could always have a couple of places to gather and PARTY!

Shmora, What did you decide on for before and after the cruise? A couple people were trying to figure out excursions, anything? Pam, we are on the same ones Trisha is (we are traveling with them), a lot of FFCers are doing Lord Sheffield but I don't know how much more room there is. I know it was full for a large group but I don't know about 3.

No one has told me how cool my list is with pictures yet. HELLLOOOOO!
My dad is here to install my wireless internet :bounce: Now when my ipod obsessed husband takes my computer, it won't interfere with my obsessions (which are so much more important!)

Jen, it does look GREAT!!! Your right we forgot to give you the koo doe's of your hard labor. Thanks for making things eaiser for all of us. 'Course your going to kill me I forgot to give you the Palo ressie times. If you add it you do, if not that's ok too. I actually am trying to change to an earlier time for dinner.

Sunday Brunch - 10:30 for the 5 of us
Thursday Brunch- 10:30 for the 5 of us
Friday Dinner- 8:30 for DH and myself :love2: ---- want to change this one
Friday Dinner- 9:00 for DS and DSGF

DD is forgoing Palo Dinner to have it with her DS somewher just the two of them

Well it's just another work day here for me :badpc: hope everyone has a GREAT day :wizard:

Morning everyone.

Jen, the list looks great. I like how you added the pics to it, that is really neat. Isn't wireless internet the best. I love having it at home.

Not much going on here this morning.

Hey, did everyone notice that we've made to page 100!! Pretty cool!

Later,
Emily

Just call us the Century Club! 100 pages! Can you believe it?! And we still have 8 weeks before our cruise!

Emily- I did enjoy Willy Wonka but I like the old one better. My son said the new one looked more realistic, whatever that means. But I did like the things they added like the back ground on Willy Wonka and the oompa loopmas (did I spell that right :confused3 ). I definatly liked the old oompa loompas and their riddles better.

Jenny- I would love to play your movie game, I just didn't know that particular quote. How about this one:
First person- "What do you want to do now?"
Second person- "Strut."
Any takers on that one?

Jen- I can't quite get the movie you are referring to but I know its a paperboy wanting the two dollars. C'mon people, help me out! I have not seen your new list yet. Steve has to print it out at work because we don't have whatever program we need to print it at home. (I don't really know what I am talking about, that is why I am taking a computer class in the fall.)
But I am sure it looks great.

I don't really have an opinion on the phone chain thing since I am travelling with Jen and, trust me, she will let me know if a h******** is threatening our plans. I do think the family groups is a good idea though.

Update on my pastor: He did start getting some of his memory back, however, he had more seizures on Monday so they did a spinal tap and a brain scan and as of yesterday they had not gotten back the results yet. They had also not heard anything about the blood work. I will let you know as soon as I hear. Your continued prayers are appreciated.

I should know this... it sounds really familiar, but all I can think of is Staying Alive, where Tony says, "You know what I wanna do?" and his friends asks, "What?". Tony answers, "Strut."

Emily, I noticed the same thing and guess what Jen started it :rotfl2: there is no telling what page we'll be on on sail away day :boat: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Hi again:

Jen, regarding your movie question- I know it was a John Cusack movie. Is it Better Off Dead?

Thanks so much for sending the updated Master List, it looks wonderful and it is very helpful.

Thanks also for the advice about the shore excursions. We are thinking about doing the Catamaran at St. Maarten.

Anyone that needs to cancel their Palo reservations (either Brunch or Dinner) would you please let me know? I don't care when it is, we just wanted to experience Palo at least once. Thanks so much! :wave2:

Pam

What movie is the following from: "Anyone, Anyone..."

Trisha, I liked the new Verouca scene. The squirrel's were way cooler than the geese. "She was a bad nut." One scene we were disappointed with was the tunnel scene, the older version was better on that part, it was a lot more twisted. The girl they found to play Violet was obnoxious, so was her mother, either of the two girls could have played the other's role. Overall I liked it and want to see it again.

WinMo, is it from "Ferris Buehler's Day Off"?

Okay here's my movie quote: "The danger must be growing."

Emily

Back again-

I forgot to comment on the Phone Chain. Sounds like a great idea! I can be in charge of the Saturday morning arrivals group if you want.

Sounds like us SA's (Sat. Arrivals) are going to be missing out from all of you who are staying at Pop Century and the resorts- you'll all be best buddies by the time you get to the ship. No fair!!

So cool to hear from all of you that have connections to good ole St. Pete, MO! We live 2.5 minutes from Mid Rivers Mall (my criteria for buying a house was that it was 5 minutes from a Mall)!

Funny

I say this all the time, as I work in the attendance office at a high school many hours a day! In the morning when all the tardy kids come in and there is a huge line this is one of my favorites! The kids never get it. I even start saying Buheler, Buheler? Anyone, anyone? Keeps me giggling. The other lady that works there is too old to know what I am talking about, I think she thinks I am nuts! Radomly a teacher or parent will walk by and hear it and laugh.

Missy

I think this one is easy............
The men may be the head of the house but the women are the neck and they can turn the head anyway they want.

Karen- You were correct! I guess I had the first person quote wrong. This is fun! How about this one: "Their gonna need a bigger boat." Easy, I know, but it is the only one I could think of.

Karen, you were right on mine.

Trisha, it's "Jaws".

Next one: "Pai Mei taught you the five-point exploding heart technique." This one may be to easy. This is one of my favorites.

Emily

Emily, I had to google that one, so I won't answer. But I've never seen the movie...

Pam, I've never watched Ferris Buehler, either, so didn't know that one.

Lessee if I can come up with one: "Why'd it have to be spiders?"

INDIANA JONES! Was it spiders or snakes? maybe I have the wrong movie!

I got Jaws and Ferris Bueller....don't know the Pei mei one...best guess is Karate Kid but don't hold out much hope. Better off dead is correct!

"You can't handle the truth..." Sorry it's so easy.

Pam, you can get Palo onboard. Don't be discouraged!
We won't meet anyone before hand because we will be at the park ALLLLL day on Friday. Maybe if there is a h******....if so you can pile in with us. Head on over on Saturday!
I knew I should have put where everyone was staying beforehand on the list. Blasted, now if I want it I have to wade through tons of pages!
