Question for those going on the "Double Dip" cruise next year.. is it Eastern or Western??

The double is a Western.....Cruise to Costa Maya. CC, Cozumel, Costa Maya, CC. September 16th I believe. Prices are cheap now. If you guys are even considering that would be great.

I started thinking about the idea that a bunch of partiers go on these cruises. We are DCL people, which in and of itself would say that whoopin' it up to us might be a little different than what it would mean to.....let's say someone on a cruise thread for Carnival. Did that make sense? Wow, we used to stay up until the sun rose :sunny: way back when......somehow that is not what it used to be. Where is the tired and I am hungover smiley? UGH

Gotta run and get some sleep,

Missy

Jen,

Mom's flying out of Columbus on Friday early morning.. I think it's like 6am... and she's leaving Orlando around 3 or 4 pm on Saturday. Maybe you'll have the same flight out of Orlando! She'll need a bit of company after the cruise with all 7 grandkids!! :rotfl:

Susan, I'm hoping the above post is for Jenny ;) I not getting on a plane with 7 grandchildren! :rotfl2: My two are enough  Unless she wants to come to Denver.

morning all,

Jenny you do have an exciting work day - although i am glad it was just a false alarm.

we aren't party animals either. even when it was just DH and me we rarely saw in the wee hours. we do enjoy a nice glass of wine or frozen drink... :drinking1 but not so often any more. we tend to stick to the kids schedule now so early to bed etc. :cloud9:

we fly in on the 12th (we hope) we are standby out of dubai and are not even sure if we will end up going via london or NYC... when we get there we check into the BCV.
we are taking Disney transport and so wont be as early as we would of liked, but as long as we arrive its all good!
afterwards we have a week at SSR and then 5 days at BWV. using all of our DVC points for last year, this year and next.

our next cruise prob wont be until 2008, which will also be our next trip to USA and also our 10yr anniversary - am hoping to do vow renewal ot WDW or on Magic.

we have space bags, a hanger for bathroom and always carry a penlight torch or two but that is about it for our preparations.

i have started a packing list, but 4 people 4 weeks (almost) don't want to carry too much luggage - must reduce more.... i wonder if DH really needs clothes?

Wendy hope DD had a great birthday :bday:

must run. have a great day everyone.

Jen... that was meant for Jenny flying out of Columbus! Actually mom was smart and took a different flight than my sister & her 3 kids!!! I'm flying out of Kansas City with my 4 kids which make up the remaining of the 7 total... Mom waited and got a direct flight while my sister got 2 of their tickets using their frequent flyer miles through a different airline, which is not a direct flight, but I think mom was actually planning the whole different flight thing so she could relax on the way there & recoup on the way back!! :rotfl2:

I'm thinking next cruise I'll fly alone & send the kids with DH!! :cool1:

Jen,

What part of Colorado are you in? I'm sure you've said before, but I'm blonde... what can I say??

My DH & I meet & married in Colorado Springs... we lived in Manitou Springs for the first 2 years of our marriage, then moved here to Kansas to be closer to his family & work with his dad. I sure do miss those Rockies!!!

We're going to Estes Park this next week for about a week. Leaving on Sunday, staying in Boulder, heading up to Longmont to pick up a 4 wheel drive to go up into where DH used to backpack, going to camp 2 nights there then head into Estes and stay at the YMCA camp in one of their 3 bedroom cabins. DH's parents will be going with us along with one of DH's employee's who just graduated from HS this year and has become a pretty close friend/adopted son!! (By the way... I was VERY young if I were to have him!!!! :rolleyes1 )

We live in Highlands Ranch witch is the southern most suburb of Denver. Manitou is beautiful! But my absolute favorite place is Estes Park. We were married in the BIg Thompson Canyon and it carries a special place in my heart. We go up there about 3 times each summer. Have a ball, and if you need to know anything about what to do, etc, let me know!

Michelle, that sounds like a lonnnngggg flight! but a great vacation!

It is once again, the ungodly hour of 4:40. I got up to walk (kudos to me). I actually gained yesterday, which by the way is mathmatically impossible, having eaten two salads in prepackaged, premarked bags and exercised. I hate that scale. Must ignore, must ignore, must ignore...

I signed my two boys-13 and 15 up for the wildside a couple of days ago and it wasn't booked up yet.

We are leaving Philadelphia Friday at 6:00 am and we need some advice on what to do from 10;00 am Friday until Sat. morning to the cruise. Does anyone have any advice on what to do or where to eat? Depending on what we do is where we are going to stay that night. We also leave on the Sunday mornign after the cruise so we have a day there also so I need to find something for then also.

Shmora

Shmora, What is wildside?
As far as what to do...do you want to do the beach thing or the parks thing. Obviously, there is WDW, Sea World, Universal Studios, Islands of Adventures (which might be to their liking), Wet and Wild (and all of Disney's water parks), then the smaller attractions like gator land.....You could stay at Ron Jons (kindof a surfish hotel with a cool, large pool and water slides and lazy river (Cocoa Beach)....Disney properties actually aren't that expensive and offer fun hotels (we are paying $66.w/ AAA for Pop Century. What kinds of things do you think you and your family would be interested in?

Wildside is a teen program for when we go to Castaway Cay.

Is Ron John's alot of money to stay there? I guess we just need to decide what we want to do. We are not going into the parks this time. We were just in all the Disney parks last year and we are going to be back in two years with my sister. By then there will be more new things in the parks and with four kids it tends to be expensive. We also are going to Las Vegas next June and then we want to go to Disneyland so we are trying to save our money because we are going for two weeks next year and drving all over Mexico, Cal., Arizona, and Nevada.

Shmora

Shmora........I vote for the Ron Jon. They have larger rooms for those of us with more than 2 kids. We were booked there last year, but due to hurricane damage they closed and then we booked at the Raddison, but due to another hurricane they closed (evacuation)........well anyway that won't happen this time right?

The Ron Jon has a great pool and it is right on the beach so it's cheap, one room for everyone, washer and dryer, kitchen, etc. You should check it out.

Missy

Just wanted to check in and say a quick "Hi". I haven't been on the boards much lately and have alot of back reading to do to catch up. Now that its only 2 months away its seems more real! I hope all are well and look forward to seeing everyone on board! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Good to hear from you Tracy!

I tried to find out some prices for you, Lorra, on Ron Jons but it is saying it is not available. Could be I'm doing something wrong (like it doesn't like that I am putting in 6 people). It looks really cool, though. You could think of the higher price (assuming it is higher) as entertainment, too. Maybe for one night. The (is it?) Marriot is supposed to be nice, too. But if money is an issue, maybe have Missy school you in the finer points of priceline. She got a great deal for herself (and a ton of other people). Just make sure it has a nice pool and you all can just veg out. Good luck. Let us know if we can help with your decision process.

Coming out of lurk mode to pop in and say "hi". I must admit that I was beginning to feel that I am way too boring for you all. DH and I are not partiers. We do enjoy a couple of drinks a day on vacation and we go to the bars at night but just enjoy watching and not participating. DH does try to get me to play the "Match Your Mate" game but there is no way I am going to get up in front of anyone.

We are flying in on Sat. morning. Hopefully the weather will cooperate. I know I mentioned in another post that we almost missed the ship last Sept. due to hurricane Jeanne. We book through DCL and they do cut it close. We won't know when our flight leaves until we get our docs but it has always been around 9AM. We usually get to the ship around 1 o'clock.

Somebody was asking about the double stop CC cruise for 2006. We booked the 9/16/06 on board last Sept. They still have some good prices but last time I checked it would be $750 more than what we paid for DH and I in a Cat. 9. It is good to book as early as possible and better yet if you can get the onboard discount and the onboard credit. I am so glad that we booked two years in advance. We will be booking for 2007 on board this year.

I would love to join in the cabin tour. I'm sure DH would like to see other cabins too. (Is he really the only DH who would enjoy this?) Let me know the time and place to meet. I do lurk but cannot possibly keep up with all the posts.

Donna (now you all know my real name)

Donna, Glad you are back, too, and NO you are not to boring for us. You will fit in just fine (as I hope you could tell from our definition of how we party) We just talk big but when it comes down to it, a couple of glasses and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!
Tracy and Donna, we can catch you up if you need it and don't want to dredge through a thousand posts. I have a doc with everyone's (who has sent it in) information. There is a website (see infor below) for our group's pictures (some people) and with shirts/pins, etc with our logo and name on it if you want to order anything. Jenny is offering to make door signs for anyone wanting them for $3. I gained a pound (but I digress :goodvibes ) (say collectively, "We don't care Jennifer)
We have several (obviously optional) meets scheduled which we will recap more and more as time gets closer.
Tenatively,
Embarcation day 3pm Mickey pool by slide (wear green yarn around wrist)
Sunday 1pm? stateroom tour for those interested
Wednesday 4 (30) ish Sweet Sue Suite Birthday Selebration BYOB(D) Happy hour
Did I forget anything?

WOW! I've missed you guys! Sorry it's been so long! And unfortunately I only have a few minutes right now to say HI.

I don't think I will be able to respond to individual posts this time, so I am just saying a general HELLO and I hope everyone is well. I have been trying to keep up with reading posts.

Things here have been CRAZY!
First, I have officially been diagnosed as "hypertensive"...I have high blood pressure. I've been getting really bad pressure headaches. (Like the kind where you just want to be in a dark, quiet room with nothing touching you kinda headache.) So now I have to be medicated for that.

Then Monday when I got to work, I found out that one of my co-workers had a blood clot that came loose from her leg and went to her heart and caused a massive heart attack on Saturday night and she almost died. (Well, they actually lost her 3 times while operating on her, and had to revive her.) They had originally said that she probably wouldn't make it off of life support. But then they said that she would, but that she would have some level of brain damage due to lack of oxygen when they were trying to revive her. So they removed the life support, and she is now awake and able to answer some questions. But she doesn't remember anything or anyone. She couldn't remember peoples' names, even her own children. It was pretty sad. So the doctors at this point are saying that they are not sure if it will be a permanent thing or not. It's just kind of a wait-and-see thing.
So things here are crazy...when you spend as much time with your co-workers as you do your family, they become kind a family in their own right. So people here have been on edge, kind of at each others' throats, etc...well some tempers flared yesterday. (I'm not even sure what happened or what was said to whom.) But one of my co-workers walked out. And she's not back today, so I'm assuming she won't be coming back. SO...that makes things even more crazy being short 2 people...*sigh*

Anyway...IS IT SEPTEMBER YET!?!?!?!?! I NEED a vacation!!!

Oh, and people were posting their travel plans...We're flying out of Mid-America (STL) on Friday, and will spend the evening/night at Holiday Inn Cocoa Beach, and the after the cruise, we'll stay again Sat. and Sun. nights at Holiday Inn, and then fly home on Monday.

Back to work for me! Have a great day everyone!

-Christal

Christal, Sorry to hear about your hard times! September is ALMOST here!!! Hope things cheer up in your area!!

:grouphug:

How fun to hear from so many people! I have to make this quick -- need to run and ge treat bags for DD's party this evening. And thanks everyone for the b-day wishes.

What are space bags? Please explain. Sound like something I might need... Also what is SSR?

Susan, we are flying out of KC also. Did you get the super deal on SW? I had already bought tkt at the $99 each way price, but now have a $240 credit. We go out on Friday afternoon and return Sat afternoon. What about you? Also, did I mention I'm a big Jayhawks fan? Went there for undergrad. But since I'm a native Missourian, I consider them our rivals rather than K-State. So, we can cheer the sunflower state together.

Christal, sorry abt your co-worker. Hope the long-term prognosis is good.

Keep talking, I'll be back.....

We're flying out of KC around 7am on Friday (I forget the exact time)... I think we're going to drive up Thursday night & do the park & fly at one of the hotels. Our flight leaves out of Orlando at 11:30 am Saturday, I'm hoping we're not cutting it too close! And YES I did get in on the fare sales... now I have about $480 credit with Soutwest! I originally booked back with the first sale, then the tickets went down the next day.. got the $180 credit then.. and when we heard about the sale from Missy (I think) got the other $300 credit. :cool1: Oh yea!!! What time does your flight leave Orlando on Saturday??

The space bags are something you can pack your clothes in and squeeze or suck the air out so it takes up less space. I bought some of them at Wal-mart a while back (The kind you squeeze the air out of) I'm hoping they'll help with space!!

Too bad they won't work with shoes though, I think I may have a different pair of shoes for every night!! I used to only own like 4 pair of shoes... tennis shoes, sandals, and a pair of pumps (Blk & Wh), but anymore I have turned into the shoe lady!! I'm becoming a bit more high maintanence in my "older age"!! princess:
