Sept 16 2012 - WONDERing who's on the Calif Coastal with me?!

Hi all
Ooh I must say I am beginning to get excited about our trip :) Cant wait!!! Am researching FEs at the moment. Cant wait for school holidays so that the kids can help me make some gifts :)

I must say that I have stopped looking at the DCL website... there are too many cruises that I have fallen in love with!! <3

Hope all is well with you all
Cheers
Deb

Greetings!

We are trying to plan our port adventures today and are somewhat disappointed in the DCL offerings. Now we wish we were in SD for two days instead of one. Oh well. :rolleyes2

Hi Gayle
What Port adventures are available for SD? We are a first time cruiser so we cant log on yet - we have to wait until july:surfweb:

You can search by port for all DCL Port Adventures here: http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/cruises-destinations/shore-excursions/search/. You can review all of them now, but just can't reserve until your window opens.

Welcome aboard! This will be our 6th DCL, so let me know if I can help or answer any questions! I think a lot of people on this cruise are repeat DCLers!

For your Cali natives, we are interested in the Trolley Tour, Zoo, & USS Midway Museum. Since we are in port only 8:30am-7:30pm, is more than one of these doable in a single day? (I'd really like to do both the Zoo & Midway, but both look very time intensive.)

Also, does anyone know exactly where we will be docked?
Thanks!
Gayle

Hi Gayle...
We should dock at the B street Cruise Terminal which is located downtown SD.. I've never been to the Midway and that is something we are definitely going to try to do.. I have been to the zoo and it's amazing.. It's HUGE and EXHAUSTING :faint: lol.. Plan on wearing good comfy walking shoes.. You may be able to do both in one day, it really depends on whether you want to see the ENTIRE zoo.. Taking the tram tour at the zoo helps since you save time walking the areas they take you through..When we were there (which was about 8 yrs ago!) our kids wanted to spend a lot of time watching the Gorillas, Pandas, and Chimps so spending time watching your fave animals can take much time.. Wish I could give you more info, hope this helps.. Have a great day!:goodvibes

thanks Gayle :) I think it will be either legoland (again!!) or Sea world for us and the kids :)

Gayle - make sure you drink heaps of water at the zoo - I ended up with heat stroke last time I was there!!!

thanks for the tips - no doubt I will have 733 questions between now and then.

Looking forward to chatting more
Cheers

Oh and another question - is it safe to say we will do the FE? I want to get started with what we are doing :)

Also is it one gift per person in each stateroom participating? I read that some are doing one gift per person per and I almost fainted!

You can easily spend all day at the zoo there - it's HUGE. We spent a week there a couple of years ago and did the zoo and wild animal park (a little bit of a drive) on separate days but the Midway can easily be done in 2 hours or so. We'll be taking our daughter to Sea World this time :)

Greetings from California-
Our family, DDs (will be 5 & 7 when we cruise), my parents and I, are so excited for the cruise and would like to participate in the FEs! Count us in!

We would like to participate in the FEs but am hoping that someone else will organize it since this will be our first Disney Cruise and first FE experience. Our family is currently brainstorming and researching ideas:)

:wave2: Deb,

I say lets do it!.. :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2: I have been trying to keep track of who wants to participate. Honestly, I was hoping someone else would consider being in charge since I have never actually organized an FE before, so if anyone out there would like to take on that task its all yours! :thumbsup2 If not I'm sure I can handle it, I think ;) hehehe... I have a gift in mind for the kids, one for the moms (mums) lol, I'm having a hard time thinking up somthing for the dads tho.. It really is up to the individual as to how/how many gifts they would like to give.. Last DC I went on in Jan, some people gave one CABIN gift, others gave a gift to each person in the cabin and some even gave to each person in the cabin PLUS a cabin gift... I'm really trying to keep a budget but that budget sometimes seems to get lost amongst all the ideas I have.. My husband says I'm crazy :rotfl: Let me know what you all think...

BTW Noah is sooo excited to meet Ceejay.. He emailed him back last night and for a good hour and a half kept asking me to check my email to see if Ceejay wrote back.. :goodvibes I keep trying to explain that you all are on a totally different time zone.. Right before school this morning he said, "Mom, check your email... Did he write back yet?" lol I'm glad they are getting to know eachother... Hope to talk to you soon...

Thanks, Yvette  I know that we have a few months until we cruise but we are super excited about the cruise and the FE's.

I wanted to let everyone know that Costco is offering Cash Cards for booking this cruise through them or if you can transfer your ressie to them, they are giving up to $1200 back. We transfered our ressie today without any change in cabin or rate.
Counting the days!

:wave2: Tami!
I KNOW how excited you are.. I have been working on FE gifts for the past two months! I have been making one of this and one of that... My husband looks at me and shakes his head like I'm crazy :crazy2: but I just say, "DUHHH.. I have to make samples to see how they turn out" Great tip about the Costco offering.. So you were able to transfer your res and receive a cash card to use on anything? I'm going to have to look into that..

Yvette,
It is a Costco Cash card, so I think it works like a gift card at Costco. Pretty sure we will have to use it a Costco when we get it. But I am sure we will be able to spend it over several months.

I also wanted to add that we were told by Disney that boarding will begin at 11 am, which is different information than the Disney website. So the website is either inaccurate or we were given bad information. Has anyone elso contacted Disney regarding boarding times?

Gidday Ladies :)

Wow you guys have managed to get awesome discounts on your cruises. Unfortunately there arent that many out there for us kiwis coming to the USA. :) Doesnt matter, I dont care, I am looking forward to the cruise irregardless how many days teaching I have to do to pay for it! :) LOL Any excuse to immerse my family in DISNEY! :D

Yvette - please tell your darling Noah that Ceejay will be on after the weekend as we are going away for a few days :) He too is very excited and has told his friends at school that he has a penpal :)

Fish Extender, happy to do individual gifts as I have already started :) My hubby also says that i am stark raving mad - I keep saying "Dont worry honey, its just an american tradition that we must take part in" LOL That is my excuse and I am sticking to it! Though mine will be easiest to guess as they are themed on our beautiful country <3

Hope all is well, Have a great week
Cheers

Good Morning (or afternoon/evening depending where you are in the world ;))
This is for all you who want to participate in the FE... Could you please (at your convenience of course) begin to PM me your info such as Stateroom, Names of those in your group, ages of children if any. I would like to start putting together/organizing the list that I will eventually get out to each of you.. I know its early but I would like to end up with something somewhat understandable.. :lmao: Thanks :thumbsup2
