Sept 14, 2013 - Western Fantasy Cruise!!!

She would love to! When I have completed 10 posts, I will send you a pm. Thanks for the response!

Hi all, We are super excited about being on the Fantasy! Me, my husband and Mom are making the trip. I will be volunteering at GKTW the day before we leave and we are staying at Art of Animation for two nights afterwards.
It's our 8th Disney Cruise but I've never participated in Fish extenders and want to know if there is a particular thread which will give Me the ins and outs of what I need to know. Also I tried the links posted for the list for this cruise and they were not working. Looking forward to meeting all of you!
Jenn

Greetings all! jenf22 encouraged me to come on over to the meet thread and say hello even tho ~technically~ we aren't yet booked. We'll be on this sailing one way or another. Promise. :wave2:

Soooo, my dearest old man and I will be abandoning our 15 & 17 yro sons to cruise by ourselves and celebrate our 20th anniversary. The actual day will fall on Cozumel day. Don't feel too bad for our boys. They've been on 2 cruises already this year. This sailing will be my 7th and the husband's 6th since our first ever cruise in September 2011. We're just a little addicted. :lmao:

We actually sailed this exact itinerary on May 25th this year. If anyone has any questions I'll do my bestest to answer. I got sick with what we're sure was strep on embarkation day. The day we hit Costa Maya our first stop was a drug store for antibiotics (OTC in Mexico, BTW). The 2nd to last night the husband and oldest son both got sick with some sort of stomach issue. Needless to say, on our CC day, which rained pretty much the entire day, we stayed on the ship and even whispered how we were actually ready for the cruise to be over with. There's so much we didn't see or do on the Fantasy because we were just not well and not up to it. We're calling this our do-over. Sometimes ya just gotta call a do-over, right? I'm determined to see some of the nightime adult offerings. I'd love to see some of the adult deck spaces.

Not booking Remy or Palo. We've had Palo dinner and brunch before. We did Remy dinner on the Dream last year. I'll be doing Remy dinner & brunch as well as Palo dinner on the Dream on the 9/8 4-night...

...which leads me to before plans. I've been organizing a group of ladies on another fan forum to do a girls only cruise on the 9/8 Dream over the last 2 years. I'll be flying down on 9/7, staying with friends at the GF, then we'll take a limo out to the port on 9/8. When our cruise concludes I'll be taking Disney's transfers back to Kidani Village where we have a studio on rented points for 9/12 & 9/13. The hubby will be flying in late on 9/12. We have no interest in visiting the 4-parks at WDW. We'll prob'ly just relax at our resort the day before the cruise. We may or may not get a wild hair and hit a water park. Who knows?

The morning of the 9/14 Fantasy we'll be taking a towncar out to the port. :yay:

Not looking to do the FE. I don't FB at all so you won't see me there. Just thought I'd pop in to introduce us.

Super excited! :cool1: Now if those darned *GT rates would roll out! The hubsters is so nervous and antsy. I keep telling him to relax, that last year the *GT rates didn't roll out until about 30 days prior to sailing. We aren't too particular what we get. We've sailed suites, concierge, verandahs, etc. I think at this point even if we landed in an inside room that would be fine. It's something different and we'll be on the ship. Can't complain about THAT!

OK, was able to access the FE list and joined the FB group. I do want to get in on the fish extender list, but since I've never done it before, is there a list of rules or guidelines? I feel kind of clueless at tihs pont.
Thanks!
Jennifer

Ok so the time has come after a few people have messaged me on here and facebook about splitting the list. I have now split the list and will add anymore newcomers to a group depending on numbers etc.
I have
Group A (32 adults, 18 children and 16 staterooms)
Group B (31 adults, 17 children and 15 staterooms)
so have tried to split evenly, please look carefully as I have moved a couple of families around to even out the list.
Any problems please let me know, the list will stay open til 12th August

Jennifer I have replied to your post on fb i think. :):)

Hi all me again. I know we have a long way to go but would anyone be interested in taking part in a fish extender thing. I took part on my last cruise and really enjoyed it.

Hello Zippozo:

I am very interested in participating in the Fish Extender gift exchange. Please let me know how to sign up.

I am traveling alone on this trip; an adult male. This will be my 9th Disney cruise (my first was the 10th sailing of the Magic in 1998). Speaking of which, the Magic's 15th birthday is the 30th.

Thanks,

Ray

Welcome Kelly! I've been stalking the DCL board looking for *GT rates too. My sister has expressed interest in coming, but she can only go if there's a cheaper rate. My parents are getting married the day before we sail and I'm hoping to talk more relatives into coming with us!

Glad you stopped by! Now I just need to talk you into the FE... :cool1:

Are your parents remarrying??? My mom & dad divorced when I was 3, spent 23 years apart married to other people, then remarried. So weird! They're still together 13 years later. The funny part is that even when you add their first years married to the current years I've still got them beat. They can never catch me. LOL!

Yep, still no discount rates. I'm good to wait a but longer, tho.

No to the FE! I'm heading up the girls cruise including the FE for that the week before. I don't want to spread myself too thin. ;)

I should shoot you the link to the report I did for the Fantasy Western we sailed at the end of May. It's comical to look back on. LOL!

Oh we had a BIG weekend here! It was DHs birthday, his last day at his job, and a bridal shower! Now, the hottest week so far this year! Vacation can't come soon enough....,

WOW that was a busy weekend!!!
Our temps are staying around the 90's but the humidity makes you feel sticky when you go outside and the rain really doesn't help with the humidity:crazy2:

Yep, they got divorced when I was 12 or so. I just turned 38 and now they're getting married! They started talking again when I was pregnant with Ryan - their first grandchild. I think they're been engaged about 4 years now, so I'm happy they're finally doing it!

I saw they released the *GT rates for the August cruises late last week. According to that cruise fish (???) site, our cruise still has a lot of the categories remaining. I would think there would be discounts soon. I'm trying not to get my hopes up though. My sister *says* a lot of things, but rarely *does* any of them :lmao:

So no FE for you guys - how about a beer exchange??? I really want 2 more people!

We had an ok weekend. Went and saw "Despicable Me 2" on Saturday. I just love those minions! Unfortunately, we have a kitty in renal failure (since April) and he's gotten way worse this last 2 weeks. So we're taking him to the vet this afternoon and he more than likely will not be coming home with us  We got to *try* to explain that to our 6 year old yesterday. That was tough. Mauser is one month shy of 16 years old, so we're trying to think about all the good times and that he got to live a long life.

Wow, Jen! That's so awesome and weird at the same time because, really, how common is it for a couple to be married then divorced so many years only to remarry again??? Not very! And here's 2 of us! Mom & Dad both say it was the time away that helped them let go of the baggage then finding the friendship again that they once had when spending more time in the same place together when there were weddings, grandkids, etc. Pretty weird but cool. I remember at the 2nd wedding all my relatives saying to me, "Oh! This must be the happiest day for you!" It was a very mixed emotion thing, actually. I was happy but then I was angry. It was like why did it take 23 years for these people to get their *crap* together??? I look back at all the time spent unhappy and heartbroken, missing the parent I wasn't with, all the uncertainty, and the whole other train wreck of the step-dad that raised me. I was angry in a way. I'm glad they finally got it together, tho. Really, they're good for and to each other. My dad is extremely disabled (PTSD). My mom cares for him like I could never do. It's remarkable. And Mom, God bless her, deserves to be in a marriage where she's cherished so completely. Dad will never tell her no to anything she wants. He never criticizes. He loves her completely unconditionally and doesn't care what she does so long as she's happy. That's not something she had in her 2 other marriages. Ugh! So there's my train-wreck of a family. TMI! LOL!

The beer exchange sounds intriguing! There's not much I love more than beer. So exactly how does a beer exchange work??? I may be down for that one. I'll have to figure out how to get the beer down to FL, tho. Any suggestions for that???

Speaking of beer! Like I said, I adore beer. Not a wine drinker at all. My only problem is how much I swell up on the cruises. It's not just a little. Even when I avoid beer and any soda mixers, I swell like a balloon. What is up with that?! I'm thinking maybe I'll find some diuretics to take with me this time to try to keep it under control. I've got some kick-butt strappy Jessica Simpson heels that fit perfectly but when I wear them on the cruises I look like I've smushed Fred Flintstone's feet into them. It's really quite ugly. See?

First world tribulations, I know. :lmao:

Oh man! And minions are the shiz! I love them! Is it weird that I want 2?! One wouldn't be enough because I need to hear them speak to each other! LOL!

So sorry to hear about your kitty. That stinks. I can't even imagine. My one and only pet I've ever had is my 5 year old toy schnauzer. She's my little sidekick. In a house full of boys she's my guuuuurl!!!!

So sorry to hear about your cat, they are definitely part of the family. Hopefully trip planning can distract you some. We lost my first cat earlier this year, he was 14 years old. I currently have a 15 year old dog and a 13 year old cat so I know that they don't have much longer.

We only have 60 days to go How exciting.:cool1::cool1::cool1:

I'm more of a lurker on the boards and enjoy reading everything everyone writes and taking in all the info for those that have cruised this itinerary.

This will be my 4th cruise with Disney and looking so forward to it.

Thanks. Actually, Mauser got another chance. The doctor said he wasn't nearly as bad as we thought, but he does have ulcers in the corners of his mouth and they're probably pretty painful right now. So he sent us home with some liquid to squirt on them that should help. He thinks maybe we can get another month or so if he starts to feel better. Fingers crossed this works!

Kelly - we're still trying to figure out the beer exchange thing. My husband is a beer lover and brews his own too. So when I read the thread on it, he jumped at it. I think the ideal scenario is you get 12 or more people who all bring a 12 pack of their favorite beer. Then you just trade off. Ideally everyone would get 12 different beers to try out through the cruise. I figured they could do the trading at the meet up. So far I have Phil, my dad, and 2 other people. I figured if we could get 6 people, everyone could bring 2 different 6 packs. I'm waiting to see how it works out on some more recent cruises.

We'll have to trade stories about messed up families! :lmao:
