Sept. 11th, 2004!!! Roll Call!

Scrapperjill: All my fingers and toes are crossed in hopes that Sydney's PICC line gets placed without incident. BTW - I personally think all 6 and 7 year olds are bossy! Make sure you sneak her a McDonald's Happy Meal in every now and then for a treat.

Kathy: Thank you so very much for the updated list. It's wonderful!

One month to go......

Hi All,

Just returned from a short vacation to find our Docs waiting for us. Was definitely a pleasant surprise as I wasn't expecting them for another week or so. Haven't really looked them over-just a quick scan to be sure everything is correct. Can't believe we're a month away from complete relaxation! Will see you soon!

Scrapperjill,

Hoping your daughter is doing well and that the procedure is complete. Best wishes to you and your family.

Few more updates from the hospital....Sydeny just got back from recovery...the PICC line placement went well, and she is looking forward to going up to the playroom later this evening. And I agree that most if not all girls that age can be "bossy" and yes Sydeny has her share of bossy-ness even when she's not stuck in the hospital...but the other day she was being REAL bossy...More than her normal. But hey I can't blame her..I think I'd be real bossy also if I was getting poked and checked out every couple hours.

Some good news....Our TA called us today...and said our stuff was in....so I'm guessing it's our documents. Jesse has to head back to town later this week for a work meeting...so I'm hoping he will remember to stop by and pick them up.

scrapperjill, Glad that Sydney's PICC line placement went well.

amgpmg, Thanks for the update.

Still no docs here yet.:( Maybe the timing is due to DVC? (We booked part cash and part points.)

Now al I have to worry about is the effect of the 2 storms (Bonnie & Charley). It seems as if Bonnie has missed the Western route but Charley is headed toward the Keys and the Caymans. I hope that there isn't too much damage or we maybe rerouted. I don't worry about the ships because I know they will steer clear of bad weather but if there is much damage in the ports then the itinerary may shift for awhile.

Here's keeping my fingers crossed.

TTFN Off to hope my docs get here soon!

yes I am making signs for the door. I bought magnetic "frames" at Michaels. They are sort of 'sheet protectors' with a magentic backing and come in several sizes. The ones that I bought hold 81/2 x 11 paper. I am still working on several designs. This way I hope that my DMom and Best Friend won't get lost getting back to the room. (They both seem to worry about that.)

As it is they think I have given them way too much info to read already. And the more I tell them about what I find out on these boards the more glassy eyed they become! :rotfl: They just don't understand how addicting these boards are!
;)

No documents yet! Less than a month to go.

Great news about Sydney!

I am going to make a door sign so DS7 can find the room easily. I'll probably make ours on the computer and laminate it. I think it's a great idea about the magnetic holder.

Off to work...

Scrapperjill...great news about Sydney! We'll continue to keep her in our thoughts and prayers.

Well, here in Orlando we are watching the weather closely as Charley decides what he wants to do. We get these "scares" every year, but due to our central location, we always end up with just some rain. I taught school for 13 years and I can't tell you how many "hurricane days" we had off when there was nothing but sunshine and cool breezes. Let's hope for the same tomorrow and Saturday!

Have a great day!

I called Orbitz to see where my Docs are... My brother got his almost two weeks ago!!!
They called up Disney and said that they haven't 'printed' yet. Oh well... They said it could take up to two more weeks to get them to us!!! GRRR...
My dogs name is Charlie... so I told him to stop making such a mess in the Ocean... I hope he has some connection to the storm and can turn it off for me!

See you all REAL soon!

-nat :earsgirl: & baby :cloud9:

YEAH!!! I got my docs today. natalie1980, hopefully you'll be getting your soon too. Are you traveling in on Friday or Saturday. We are flying from Midway on Friday evening. How funny about your dog. All I can say is that I hope it quiets down before we get there.

Scrapperjill, I am glad the procedure went well. Tell Sydney just a few more weeks till some fun & sun!

Kathy

Hi all. My friend called DVC member services yesterday and our documents are not printed yet either.:( They also said that we should not worry unless we don't receive them by 5 days before the cruise! By then I will be nuts!

I was reading the local news on keynews.com tonight. They began evacuating tourists from the keys yesterday. So far 2 cruise ships due to dock at Key West today and tomorrow have diverted. The Magic is iffy for Sunday depending on where the hurricane hits an dhow much damage there is. Her's hoping that it misses Key West.

According to weather reports Charley passed over the Cayman Islands earlier today. No reports on damage so far.

Four weeks from tonight I will be putting the final touches on my packing and getting to bed early (I hope) to get up early for my 6:00 AM flight. Yippee!!
:wave2:

We got our docs today! Haven't reallly looked through them, but the fat envelope is here! Also, applied for expedited passports last week for the whole family. DH was worried that his and my birth certificates are not official enough. Someone at All Seasons told him DCL is very strict and could refuse to let us board if there was any question about our birth certificates so we ran about getting pictures and getting our apps in and paying lots of money, but now we have more peace of mind.

Almost There!

Erin

Erin,

Last year when we got to port I found out that my BC was not the proper kind. It did have a raised seal, but was not a county issued BC. It was a government issued BC, I was born at Camp Pendleton Marine Corp Base. I could not believe that this was not legit enough. So, this year I just sent a letter to San Diego (and a check) and they sent me a county certificate. I am hoping that this will be sufficient enough this time, because I did not get passports for us.

Kathy

Kathy,

I'm assuming you were able to board last year?!? What did they do/say to you at port? Were you stressed you might miss the cruise? My DH and I both have photographic copies of our BC's issued from different states. Mine had a raised seal on a seperate, but attached piece of paper and his just had a signature on the back. I wish we had just ordered the passports months ago and saved quite a bit of money. Oh well.

Erin

Erin,

I was able to board. They told me that they would put me on an exception list, but it would be beneficial for me to get a copy of my BC from San Diego for future. It seemed as if this was not uncommon as they knew exactly what to do and did not have to get a manager involved at all. I would have freaked out if they wouldn't have let me board.

Kathy

Sending Pixie Dust to all of our Florida & coastal friends, hoping Charley doesn't pay you a visit. :wizard:

Scrapperjill: Lots of love and light to Sydney. I hope she's doing well princess:

hi all....Here we are still in the hospital. One week down and at least one week to go. I've been without internet for the last couple days...so I haven't been able to keep up on all the weather news...OMG...so much is going on. Prayers for all those in the area. Sydeny is still hanging in here...But I can tell it's starting to wear on her...she is getting real clingy...and emotional. Her picc...I didn't think she would like it sooo much...I knew it would be better than the regular IV's...but OMG she tells everyone how nice it is...and how her medicine does not hurt any more....about breaks my heart everytime I here her tell someone.

Jesse was back in town for a couple days and stopped by the TA office...and picked up our little box..:) and sure enough it's our documents. YEA!!! Also when he was home.....the mailman droped off our passports....YEA again. So I think were set now with all of our paperwork. Now it's time to start thinking more about packing....and praying hard for good weather in the weeks to come.

Well it's late...and we have to wake up MANY time thoughout the night...with all the nurses checking in....maybe with tomarrow being saturday...all the many doctors won't be comming in real early either. We are going to need this vacation so BAD after the next week or so in here.

I too hope everyone near the bad weather is fine. It is really looking bad.

Scrapperjill, I am glad to hear Sydney is doing well with her picc, it sounds like she is a real trooper!

Kathy

I hope that all of you who are 'local' weathered Charley without too many problems. The pictures on TV and online (local TV and newspaper sites) are scary.
The folks who got in yesterday had problems getting home with the airport closed.

Well I still believe that our cruise will be spectacular!

Now for some really important stuff. Our mini DIS meet is on Saturday at 3:00 on Deck 9. Where exactly on Deck 9? Soemone posted from this week's cruise that they didn't specify the exact location and asked some folks in lime green shirts if they were DISrs and got some strange looks!
I don't want to be the one asking strangers odd questions!

Stay safe everyone!

Hi there....the scheduled mini dis meet is at the Mickey pool...I wasn't sure if it was set for 3:00 or 3:30. I beleive the boat drill is around 4:30ish...but I could be wrong....it could be as early at 4:00. Any one know for sure?

I still haven't been able to work on my buttons for the dis meet...I have everything set and ready to put together..but I haven't been able to get them together while were here. I was able to get our sign made for the door before we came over...so atleast that's out of the way.

scrapperjill,
How is Sydney doing?
I believe that the safety drill is at 4:00. I was certain that the meet was at 3:00. By the Mickey pool-now I suppose that I will have to wander around the pool until I see some DIS buttons/ribbons! I promise not to ask any strangers weird questions about being DISrs.
After reading that thread about people getting dirty looks when looking for fellow DISrs I realized that not everyone on a Disney cruise reads these boards. And I thought that was all people did was read and post, read and post. You mean that there are people out there who aren't addicted to these boards? Wow what a concept! people who don't rush home to check out the latest on the DISboards!
