Sept. 11, 2011 It's never too early to Dream

Welcom aboard Soul Power, So good to have you and your DBF sailing with us, we are all going to have a blast :woohoo:

How is everyone on this beautiful Friday morning!!!!:cool1:

I am feeling specially good today!! Maybe because in just a couple of hours I will be off until the 28th :cool1: We are taking a 11 day vacation and since we didn't know if we would go to the beach or the mountains we decided to do both things :rotfl2: Will be driving to Roquetas de Mar (very south of Spain) on the Mediterranean sea and then we will be spending a few more days at the mountains of northern Spain :banana::banana:

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.:)

Dennis

Thank you for the warm welcomes! I'm having fun reading and learning about all that is to come!

I hope ya'll are having a wonderful week-end.:thumbsup2 A nice little cool front passed thru here yesterday, no rain, but it did lower the temps and the humidity too for a couple of days. Today's high is to be 83 degrees and tomorrow around 86.:cool1::cool2:

Yesterday DW and I went out and got us a new Chevy Silverado.:woohoo: This is one fine truck..................does everything but drive itself!!!! This is more DW's truck then mine. I'm driving the ol' clunker back and forth:confused3. But it does run good and gets me where I want to go with no problems.

More cruise clothes shopping in store for us today. Got to get that just perfect outfit for the cruise. (DW that is...............me, I'm in fine shape!!!) Well, ya'll have a great day today. Talk to you again soon.:yay:

Oh my, David! You need to move to Ohio to experience a REAL cold front!:rotfl2: We had one come through here yesterday. Rain, crazy wind...50 mph gusts and only a high in the 40's today with more of the same wind. DH is taking DGD to her first Cleveland Indians baseball game today. They have to dress for football.

Congrats on the new truck!

Clothes shopping, YUK!:scared1: I am probably the only lady in the world who absolutely HATES clothes shopping. So if it looks like I am wearing ten year old clothes on board it is because I am.:rolleyes1

We've had high winds here over the weekend, and Friday and again yesterday, It SNOWED!!!! Wet snow that melted as soon as it hit the ground, but snow non the less! The winds were awful though. Made it seem like FALL not spring!

Here's to hoping nicer weather is on the way :thumbsup2

We had a very windy weekend as well. Gusts up to 50 mph! It has been quite rainy and is supposed to rain all week. I just cut the lawn and it is growing like crazy! DGD's are on spring break this week. Was hoping for some sunshine. I guess board games are in store for us.

Hi all,

I've been away from the disboards lately. I need to start getting back into getting everything ready for the trip. I'm so excited.

A couple of weeks ago several people were talking about the complimentary tickets to the Kennedy Space Center on this thread. I'm so excited I received a call today stating we received them for 9/9/11. :woohoo: My excel spreadsheet for the trip will look better now due to this savings, OR I will just use that savings someplace else. :goodvibes. My dh thinks I'm crazy because of my excel spreadsheet everytime we take trips. I just like to be prepared.

Anyway, I look forward to meeting everyone!

I love that we manage money the same way.
I'm thinking of coming down early...after I read about someone missing their flight yesterday. I might do an off site stay. I'll keep you posted

I read about that family too. How sad! They were leaving the evening before to be safe and due to cancel flights still were unable to make it. (Plus not having trip insurance added to their sorrow)

It made me call today for trip insurance. I called American Express and used their travel insurance company.

If anyone else is considering skipping the travel insurance...read the thread...it think title is something like Heartbroken- Flight canceled, Dream leaves without us...or something like that.

I don't have trip insurance for this trip and, cross my fingers, don't plan on getting it. Number one, we don't get Tornado's here like the one's elsewhere in Canada and the U.S. Two, it's not the Season for a wicked snow or ice storm that COULD cancel flights. Weather wise, I'm not worried. We'll watch the forcasts, and I do have room to weigh out driving down instead.

I DO think I'll check into trip insurance for our Fantasy 2012 trip though. That one is costing me a LOT more $$$$ and therefore worth it to me to investigate that route.

The other thing is, through my husbands work, he is covered for some kind of trip insurance, although that might just be medical. I'll have to look into that.
My American Express offers insurance for purchase, but when I checked that last year, it was an insane amount of money. I'm not worried about the Sept trip, other than small worries now about the anniversary date that weekend (most likely needless worry), as well as my nervousness about FLYING period. :):)

I also read that thread. What a shame and it happens more often than we think due to all different reasons. I have Disney insurance but am thinking about canceling and going with an outside company. I don't think Disney covers getting there and we are driving from Ohio. I'm worried something might happen on the way. Any suggestions?

I too felt really bad for that family!! I don't know if it would have made a difference if they had arranged to fly out early that morning instead of evening. If their arrangements were for an early morning flight, and if that one got cancelled, they would have had more time to make alternate arrangements with another airline, or drive ect....
Definately lessons learned for them and the rest of us. From my understanding too, when reading that thread yesterday, Trip insurance would not have helped them very much????? Or was that it still wouldn't have helped them get TO the cruise, but would have enabled them to recoup costs to put towards another vacation?

I hope ya'll are having a great day today!!!:thumbsup2 I sure am.:cool1: Weather is GREAT - high today around 85 today, humidity is still low, Magnola tree in front of the house is in bloom and smells great!!! What a GRAND DAY TODAY!!!:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

I did not read that thread but I do feel so very sorry for that family. To miss out on a vacation you planned and were looking forward to, had to be heart breaking. DW and I always get the trip insurance for our cruises. Even though we live about a 2 to 3 hour drive from the port, you just never know what might happen. Anything beyond your control could happen causing you to miss your cruise. Like you said Judy, the trip insurance won't help you get to your cruise, but it will help you recoup the cost of your missed cruise.

The trip insurance that I got through American Express I thought was reasonable. You can decide if you want to cover the cost of flights, amusement park tickets, etc. or just the cruise. You just let them know the cost of the trip per person. It covers trip cancellation or interruption. So if a flight were cancelled due to weather they could fly us to meet the cruise at a port. Or if a family member (one on cruise or back home) gets extremely ill they will fly us back from a port. After reading their story I feel it is $180 well spent.

What a YUCKY day out today!! We had freezing rain in the wee hours of the morning, but it had changed to regular rain before I got up. The wind is bad, and we are supposed to get SNOW later today!!!! EEEWWWWW!

I had to have our Kitty cat at the vet this morning for 7:30, he's going to become an IT and get micro chipped. Hopefully that will put an end to his nightly meowing and howling that he gave us for a few nights in a row.

Going to get working on organizing my new craft area in the basement this weekend, unburry my sewing machine and then assemble the FE's I'm making.
:)

This is the worst spring ever! Cloudy, gloomy, cold and rain almost daily with no end in sight. Should be grilling out but I am still using my crock pot. Where is the warmth and sunshine that David promised to send up here?:upsidedow

What a B E A U T I F U L day today. Sun is shining.............although it is close to 90 degrees out there. We are having August temps here in April!!!!:scared1: But I'm not complaining. Sorry Donna..........................I thought that sunshine and warm weather I sent ya'll did make up there.:confused3 Don't know where it went!:confused3 I'll try resending it..................no promises though.

DW is not feeling well. Started last Friday with her sinuses acting up and then a cough started. She has been home the past two days with a fever now too. Just can't seem to shake this...........whatever it is. She says she feels like she has been run over with a truck!!! Can't sleep, aches and pains all over, just feels plain ol' yucky!!!! Hope everyone out there in DIS Land is feeling ok.

Well, better get back to work. Ya'll ahve a GREAT day today. Talk to you again soon.:woohoo:

Has anyone who is sailing on the Disney Fantasy next year checked out Myer Werft's web cam on their website? You can see the Fantasy in the bottom photo. You can tell it is the Fantasy by the Disney signature smoke stack in the photo. Before we know it the Fantasy will be sailing out too!!!:woohoo:

Sorry your wife is feeling yucky.:sad1: I hope she is feeling better soon!:thumbsup2

It was a cool day here. But we had a great day. We went to my second favorite place (Disney being #1)- Great Falls. Even though we live in MD we always go to the VA side. We hiked and climbed rocks. It is cool to see it at different times. The rock we like to climb out to to eat our lunch while looking at the Potomac was actually under water today the water was SO high! I could have stayed there all day listening to the water.

If I can remember how to upload pics maybe I will add some. If you are ever in the DC area you should make a trip to Great Falls.

(Added bonus this is National Parks week so we did not have to pay the $5 entrance fee:yay:)

Hope your wife feels better soon! I got hit with a sinus infection mid-March and am still suffering. Had an allergic reaction to the first antibiotic. The second antibiotic pretty much took care of the worst of it but I am still having sinus trouble. I am blaming the weather. Maybe your Florida heat and sun will help DW get over this quickly.:thumbsup2
