Sept. 11, 2011 It's never too early to Dream

Let me also :welcome::welcome::welcome: you zippyzo and your mum and dad to our DIS Board thread. You will have a great time counting down the days until we set sail on the Dream.:cool1::thumbsup2:cool1: You do have a long flight ahead of you coming over here before you sail on the Dream. Are you planning any stay at Disney World before or after your cruise? I hope you can take a few days to see Disney World. It is such a fun and exciting place to visit.:cool1::yay::woohoo:

HI
thanks for the welcome, we are staying at Disney after the cruise at the Old Key West, and we are flying out one day before the cruise and staying at the Hyatt at the airport, I think my dad has booked us on the first bus to get to the cruise terminal. I think we are having about 10 days at Disney and are hoping to make it to a mickeys not so scary Halloween Party whilst we are there. As for the cruise I very excited, but still seems ages away.

Welcome!!!! You are going to have an amazing holiday!!!

We are doing eight nights after the cruise. We are looking forward to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP). We have never done the party but have read wonderful things here.

My children are also looking forward to an animation class they are taking through Disney's Y.E.S. program.

Another first for this trip will be the waterparks. :cool1:

We have done two 3 night cruises but this is our first 4 night cruise (the next on the schedule is a 7 night :cool1:).

Wow! This trip is going to have a lot of first. I think I will make a list of some of the others to help the days pass...even SLOWER:lmao::rotfl:

:welcome: aboard Zippyzo and family!

The cruise doesn't feel that far away when I think that I booked it almost 2 years ago!

We booked ours September last year so we only have a year to wait but it still seems to be going so slow,

Is anyone else thinking about doing an excursion in Nassau? Normally, we probably wouldn't get off the boat, as this will be our 4th time there, but this will be my DNephews first cruise, so we want to make the trip as much about him as possible. I was thinking that he might like the Atlantis Aquaventure. Okay, who am I kidding--I want to go there too!!:rolleyes1 Just curious to see what everyone else has planned!

I might do a Beach day on the Nassau day for this cruise. Does anyone know of a good beach to go to here? If not a Beach day, then something simple and easy, like a walk through town, the pirate museum. The Nassau day for the 3 day cruise after this one (2nd half of our B2B), the Oasis is in port along with us, so we'll be getting off just take pictures of the the two ships, WHAT A PHOTO OP!!, but otherwise just enjoy our ship for the rest of the day.

DW and I are doing a B2B cruise like Judy aka JustTJ. So the the first leg we are planning on doing the tour of the forts and the Queen Stairs. We've done Atlantis, it is interesting.

A question to all of my veteran Nassau cruisers. Where is a good place to buy some nice jewelry in Nassau?:confused3 :scratchin DW and I are thinking of buying new wedding bands on the island. With us losing some weight:woohoo: our old ones don't fit any longer. Anyone have any ideas?:thanks:

for those that have been before, what would you recommend to do at Nassau, bearing in mind my dad is a wheelchair user so not everything maybe accessible to him. Any suggestions?

From what I can remember I do believe the Atlantis tour is wheel chair accessible. It is an interesting tour if you haven't seen it before. They take you all thru the resort and you get to see the Dig, and go thru the aquarium. They have quite a collection of ocean critters in this aquarium of theirs. Manta Rays and all of the oceans critters you may never usually get to see close up. You can always email DCL and ask which excursions are wheel chair accessible. That may be your best bet.

I'm just checking in...congrats on any bdays, retirements, engagements, peanut butter sandwiches...whatever goodness has gone on in your life lately. :)
I'm looking forward to our cruise and to seeing that big beautiful ship.
Have a happy spring everyone!

Yes, do tell a bit about your first Dream Cruise. We have one other family on board with us who also recently cruised on the Dream too! I would specifically like to know how things went at the terminal for you, like when did you arrive, what were lines like, boarding number, boarding time. Did the terminal seem overly crowded?

We cruised last fall on the Magic, and the terminal in the 45 minutes or so before boarding started, was SOOOOOO Packed. And that was on the smaller ship! I can't imagine how they would fit all the extra Dream passengers into there! Looking forward to it all though, crowds or no crowds! :thumbsup2

When would be the last date (roughly) to join up to the FE, looks like good fun we may decide to take part too. :cool1::dance3:

Most likely the closing date will be 3 to 4 weeks before the cruise. Plenty of time to think about it. It really is a lot of fun, at least I do find it that way :thumbsup2

it sounds like fun, and something a little bit different, will let you all know soon

We were lucky enough to be on the Maiden Voyage (Jan 26th)! It was so awesome to be on this amazing ship for such a memoriable cruise!

To answer some of your questions ( please remember we was the Maiden Voyage, so possibly more crowded than average).

We arrived at the port about 10:10 am and they were not letting anyone into the terminal yet, and there was a line about 150 ppl long already! Once they let people into the terminal area, the lines moved fairly quickly, from being outside to through security, to check in, was only maybe a 45 minute wait. Yes there was LOTS and LOTS of people in the terminal waiting to board.

We were in Concierge boarding so I can not give you a 'boarding number" but to be honest their was lots of staff there to assist and keep things moving along, it was not bad.

Boarding started about 12 noon, and I must say... take a deep breath when they announce you to board and stop to look at the atrium chandeler - Beautiful!!!

Then the fun begins!

The new height requirements for the AquaDuck is now 42 inches minimum and must be with an adult. I know there were some disappointed kiddo's who was looking forward to riding and was not able :( Heartbreaking to watch, but we did see some kids getting stuck in the AquaDuck, so I can understand the strictness for safety reasons.

The Line for the AquaDuck was never very long, the longest I saw it was about 30 minutes and it goes pretty quickly! We only rode it once, cuz it was a little cool for me.

I would be happy to answer any questions you may have. Just know it was well worth the cost, and the Dream is one amazing ship with lots of great things to offer everyone! You will not be disappointed!!!

I mean, hey it has to be pretty awesome if we are already heading back to spend more time on the Dream :cool1:
