As I'm trying to figure out what hotel to stay in a thought has occured to me. Would it make it easier/more fun if we knew where everyone was staying? I'd be willing to organize a list of what people are staying in which hotel if everyone wants me too. Just PM me with your disname and hotel. If it's ok maybe we could post it on the first page. :goodvibes

Sounds like a great idea Lauren. I'll pm you. :thumbsup2

We are flying in the morning of the cruise and I know a few others are too, do you want to add that to the list too?

I'm sad, i've just been reading the thread on the main cruise section about the missing CM from the Wonder. A female CM went missing on Tuesday (a sea day) they have searched the ship several times but not found her. How very sad for all onboard. :sad1: My prayers are being sent that it turns out well.

It's awful, I hope the mystery is solved soon and they find out what's happened to her :sad2:

I am beginning to wonder how i'm going to fit it all in too. :confused3 My DH was worried about being bored but I now know for sure that we have so much to do that I don't think we will have time to relax.:rotfl2:

Does Lee think he is going to be bored :rotfl: no way !!!!

I also enjoyed standing at bow of the ship at sunset, watching us sailaway from the ports with a cocktail in one hand, and the evening where we took a bottle of champange up on deck after dinner.

Sarah,

Stevie was browsing in youtube a few months ago and came across disney horn battles and had a look. The clip that came up was of the horn battle with the Norwegian Epic (or Norwegian Epi as the C light had blown lol) at St Maarten on the last WBTA.

During the clip, the camera panned round to Tony I think standing with a drink up on deck watching the sail away and then the next part of the clip was me dashing downstairs to get ready to go to Palo that evening as it was our wedding anniversary. Stevie was in the background hanging over the rail watching the sail away.

Was it you filming?

:rotfl2:

I can empathize...we had snow on the first day of spring (Monday) :sad2: after having several days of warmer than normal temperatures and being able to see grass for the first time in several months. Luckily we only had 2 inches and it seems to be disappearing rapidly, but we're not out of the woods yet; winter seems to have a way of hanging on. At least planning for this cruise brings warm tropical places to mind :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Yes, we had four inches on Monday, as well. It's that crazy time of year here. Maybe we'll just become permanent DCL residents!:woohoo:

Wow, five pages to read today...

What are people doing in St. Marten? Only thing on DH's list is to see the planes take off (no fence hanging, though...don't have extreme sport coverage on our travel insurance:rotfl:). We'll watch from the beach bar!

Thanks to all of you organizers...the rest of us really do appreciate your time and effort :grouphug:.

Just for enjoyment reading......for all you fellow cruisers.....what would you say was your most enjoyable memory/activity you did on previous Disney cruises? Was there a little known joy you discovered on the trip that you could share with everyone? Like maybe a "sleeper" event that most people would bypass thinking it wasn't worth trying or a place on the ship that you think everyone should try at least once. :rolleyes1

I'm just curious because I have found some of the most special/enjoyable things I have done in the past were based on what other people recommended that maybe wasn't in a tour book or talked about a lot. :dance3: The little things in life can wind up being the most pleasureable! :woohoo:

Honestly, one of the most fun activities was doing the FE/Secret Mickey exchange on last year's EBTA (plenty of time to do this on a 14-day cruise). But our favorite was the spa's Exotic Rasul (definitely great for a couple ). The game shows were also a riot, definitely good for a few :rotfl2:.

Very very sad, yes she has been missing for two days (both sea days) so it doesn't look good. We must remain positive though and hope that she is ok.

How awful for the crew having to continue as normal. :guilty:

That would be sooo hard for the crew...prayers go out for her and her family:sad2:

We enjoyed the cooking classes on the ETA last year. Also my husband was able to go with some friends while they blew the disney horn...(won it during a bingo game). Enjoyed everything...not enough time to do it all.

We are flying in the morning of the cruise and I know a few others are too, do you want to add that to the list too?

That's a good idea. If any one wants to PM me even if you're arriving the day of the cruise we can get everyone's dates on the list too. I'll get it all together.

JessicasMom- We went to St. Marteen last Thanksgiving cruise. We had an excellent tour guide. He just drove us around the island and showed us things we wanted to see. He was great. Let me know if you're interested. :goodvibes

When we get to St Maarten, I am heading to the shop of the Yoda Guy. Nick Maley is the creator of the YODA character in the "Star Wars" movies. He has an incredible shop and gallery, where you can look/purchase lithos signed by him. He is often in the shop and takes the time to greet guests. :thumbsup2

Five yrs ago, we purchased a litho for one of our dd,who loves all things Star Wars. He was in England at the time for a funeral, but we left our dd name and address, and 3 weeks later she received a note from him to her personally. If you enjoy Star Wars, this might be a St Maarten consideration. Caroline

Things we enjoyed on our cruises? Um, everything?

First cruise, we really enjoyed the cooking demonstration given by one of the chefs. We got our picture with him - we're total foodies, so this was ultra-cool for us.

Second cruise, we participated in the adult costume contest in WaveBands (October cruise = Halloween fun!) and the games afterwards. We teamed up with another couple and had to find all kinds of crazy stuff. I was the designated "runner" - I ran up to the emcee with our stuff and ran around the room trying to get things we needed from other people. My favorite was "a tattoo." No one on our team had any, so I ran around the room looking at people and saying, "You there, you look like you have a tattoo! Come with me!" All the while, I was dressed in my Halloween costume:

(this was at MNSSHP)

I really love doing crazy things like that. I'm not shy - or proud.

And of course, we loved, loved, loved  Castaway Cay, and sitting on our veranda drinking champagne in the evenings and coffee in the mornings! :cloud9: Those things never get old. I can't believe we get 14 days of that!

This would be sooo helpful! I haven't decided on a hotel yet and a list would be a good place to look for recommendations :thumbsup2

The main supermarket in our home town is actually Aldi and we do a lot of our shopping there. The quality and range of products is really good. :thumbsup2 Do you work for Aldi ?...

Okay, never heard of them until y'alls posts this morning. Got to Birmingham, looked across the street and there was an...Aldi. Had to look them up on Wikipedia. Highly frequented grocer in Germany. The owner of one of its two divisions is the richest man in Germany. Until 2010, the second richest man was his brother, owner of the other division. Albrecht brothers.

A no-frills grocer that principally carries its store-brand (or generic) and possibly one or two name brands on some items. They charge for plastic bags and require a coin deposit on shopping carts (buggies). No credit cards (or 1% charge if accepted). The lines are longer than at many other stores, but move quickly. In keeping with German efficiency, there is a system for allocating employees to work the check-out (till) lines or other positions in the store (stocking, cleaning), so as not to waste time.

Now, me, on the other hand, want a pleasant, aesthetically pleasing experience when shopping. I enjoy Waitrose, then Tesco but not Sainsbury when shopping in England. At home, we shop at Publix (based out of Lakeland, FL).

Funny thing, though, I do enjoy my time at Sam's Club and Costco, principally due to the variety of items I don't find at the local supermarkets.

Did I say that I was going out of town - and therefore I expected my posts to be short due to having to use an iPad with its cumbersome typing screen. Well, my sister brought her laptop and it is very nice for rapid typing. :goodvibes

Just for enjoyment reading......for all you fellow cruisers.....what would you say was your most enjoyable memory/activity you did on previous Disney cruises?

...And of course meeting and sharing the experiences with lots of lovely DIS friends which made everyting we did extra extra special.:hug:

(1) Sarah/Tony and Sandy/Tony can attest to how much fun our Halloween '08 cruise was - significantly so due to the DISboard group. We had a cruiser named Shooshie (who went to work for Disney the week following our cruise) who was very good about getting others to join in the activities. I played trivia games, attended the nighttime adult cabaret shows (around 10:15 in Rockin' Bar D) and just felt so much a part of a happy group. It is great to walk into a room and have others wave you over (especially as a single) and have people to sit with and laugh and play.

(2) There are treats in Cove Cafe (scones, cakes, olives, crackers, sometimes chocolate-covered strawberries) that are free. Just walk in and serve yourself (this is an 18+ area)

(3) Nighttime watching anything on the Ariel jumbotron.

(4) making ice cream sodas with soft-serve and Hershey's syrup from the station next to Goofy's Galley (starboard, aft, just forward of Topsiders/Beach Blanket) and the cream and soda water from the drink station

(5) having dinner with DIS friends in the dining room - last summer in the Med joined with another DISer and her two kids, one of whom was the age of my niece (they had interacted on Facebook before the cruise).

(6) Serenity Bay at the end of the day is deserted! The water is so clear you don't need a snorkel.

Ooh, is this easy to find? If you don't mind me asking, where is the store located? We are Star Wars fans too :yay: and would love to browse in this shop/ gallery.

Over the last 2 weeks, the top two hotels are the Hotel Universal Barcelona on Avenida Paral-lel and the Hilton Diagnoal Mar Barcelona (make sure it's the Mar, not the other one). The Universal offers a single room for about 117 euros with breakfast; the Hilton is 150 euros on Thursday and 133 euros on Friday. Some of us staying at the Hilton are there on Hilton Honors points - plus its a DCL hotel, so there is cruise check-in at the hotel (I'm still waiting for more info on how this works).

A few are at the Hotel Paral-lel just about a block west of the Universal. There is a subway (metro) stop just in front of the Universal, and the hotel is very convenient to both Las Ramblas and the Gothic Quarter. The Hilton is farther out, to the east, perhaps 2 blocks to the sea, a block from the tram system and the metro.

The Friday night meet at the Hard Rock and the Magical Fountains of Montjuic are closer to the Universal. The Hilton is in a more newly-developed area of Barcelona.

As we get closer, we might see people getting together for transport to the ship on Saturday. Private transfer companies seem to work out a little cheaper than taxis. And no matter where you stay, public transportation is not the best way to get to the ship (although great for around town).

If you (or any other solo travelers) are looking for a hotel roommate, let us know.

I can hardly believe that's the same person! What a great costume and make-up. Yes, that scavenger hunt (a part of the nighttime adult cabaret in Rockin' Bar D) is fun. So is match your mate (especially when you get a DISboard couple up there so you feel a connection) and just the general comedy acts.
