Can someone explain to me how the dates for being able to do ADRs works? When I log on to DCL web site, it shows my ability to do this being June 26? We have already made our payment in full. Is it when you booked? Is it who you booked with?

Just curious.

Happy Friday.

its based on your castaway club level.
if you havent cruised before, i think its something like 75 days out. if you've cruised 2-5 times before its something like 90, if youve cruised a ton of times, you can do it at 105, and if you're platinum, its 120

not 100% sure on those numbers, but you get the idea...... :)

also by ADRs, i'm assuming you mean dates for being able to book shore excursions/childcare/palo?

ah man, i'm actually jealous of the 10 degrees! its only been about 5-7 here. roll on summer, i need some heat!

seriously looking at flights now, we'd be flying into barcelona on the 9th, but probably wont be getting in til 9pm (the day flight is about double the price, besides, we did the barcelona touring thing last year). i've found an airport close to the airport for about £70, but we'd have to get the shuttle or a taxi there. or there's one actually in terminal 1 at the airport for £100.
alternatively we could get a hotel in town, but then will have to pay taxi from the airport into town, then again from town to the port. plus we wouldnt get there til at least 10.30pm, so wouldnt really be going out once we got there.

which option would you guys choose? i'm leaning towards the one in the airport, we're only really there to sleep.
i'm too chicken to try and fly in on the day of the cruise! although the flight would only be an extra £10 and then we save the £100 on the hotel.......
ack, i really dont know what to do! especially because the spanish keep on threatening to go on strike!

Hi Karen

We are flying in the morning of the cruise. We had checked out the dates for the spanish strikes and it doesn't affect our dates. Mind you we have booked with BA, but they don't usually strike when it is not a school holiday, royal wedding or bank holiday, so I am taking the view that we will be okay :thumbsup2 we stressed last year and there was no need.

We looked at our options for our June med cruise and researched at length and looked at the renaissance and thought it was a great option due to the free transfers, but decided to swap for a hotel at Plaza Catalunya for, dare I say it, a visit to the supermarket pre-cruise :lmao:

We are on the first BA flight out of London City on 10th and Cliffy97 is on the Heathrow first flight of the day. Even if we get delayed or whatever , BA still has enough flights going out of London that they could bump us onto with still enough time to get to the cruise before 4 pm :) i'm an optimist lol :lmao:

The only reason we are doing this is due to my holidays, squeezing the WBTA into our plans when we already had this year's 2 vacations already booked, really hurt my annual leave entitlement and I don't have the extra day off for the 9th. I am already working 4 days in lieu to get on the WBTA - the boss might have choked if I had asked for a whole extra week lol. 6 weeks leave has now turned into nearly 7 :scared1:

You're spot on with numbers. We are gold members and we get 105 days :thumbsup2and that's for 6-10 cruises. Platinum is 11+ cruises

hi, its 135.00 euro's for the two of us, it includes tranfers from the airport, breakfast and then transfer to the port, susie

who did you book that through? i looked at prices for there earlier and it was £98 for the night, we'd then have to pay the taxi to the port separately so i'd love to be able to prebook it all in advance and not have to worry about cost of taxis etc....

scratch that, found it on marriots website.
thanks for the heads up, thats an amazing deal. think we might end up with that one....

i'm looking at either an evening flight on the 9th (arriving at 9.20pm), or morning flight on the 10th.

who'd staying at the airport renaissance then?

I think Noel is staying there as well. We had a rsvp there, but then found out that they absolutely would not allow a fourth person (baby) in the room, so cancelled. And I hear you about flying in the day prior... Curt is a dispatcher for a major airline, and he's seen it all. You can't predict a medical emergency, woman going into labor (or delivering onboard!), bird flying into the engine, etc --- so many things can create a diversion, or cancel a flight, even when weather is perfect between your points A and B.

Nice to see, everyone's getting the sunshire now, it fair cheers you up :thumbsup2 Our daffs are just about to burst open, but it's only 5 degrees C  At least there's no snow forecast for this weekend

It is beautiful in Dallas today! I was listening to Jimmy Buffett driving to the grocery store, wearing my flip flops and shorts, just singing with the windows down. I know I need to enjoy it before it gets TOO hot to go outside! Hope to get my girls outdoors after 4:00 today (we try to avoid the sun 10-4 each day).

Every Spring here in central Georgia we have something called the "Cherry Blossom Festival." WHY we have this, I've never quite understood, :confused3 but we do. (There is also a Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C., but given a choice b/w visiting D.C. and Macon, Georgia, everyone will pick Macon, of course. Okay, that was sarcasm.) For two weeks everyone dresses in pink, eats pink pancakes and cherry ice cream - you get the idea.

Anyway, they always have the same mascot for the Festival, a pink standard poodle. I've seen the poodle and I think he looks strange - and a bit unhappy. :sad2:

So this year, my groomer-friend and I decided we should dye my American Eskimo Dog, Luna, pink. First, she's a girl, so the gender-stereotype fits. :cutie: Second, she loves attention. :lovestruc Third, she's about as crazy as my friend and I are. :rolleyes1 And fourth, dogs are colour-blind, so she won't really know she's pink and the other dogs won't know either and won't make fun of her. :rotfl2:

There is a dog fashion show at the festival tomorrow, so I'm working on some accessories for Luna and Juanita, so they can compete and look very fashionable. princess: Neville will be getting a hot pink touch-up on his mohawk so he can compete in the "cool dog" category. :cool2:

So here is Luna with her dye-job:

She has received many compliments so far. In fact, I took her for a walk in the neighborhood this morning, and someone actually stopped his car to compliment her!

She looks like Candy Floss!!!!:rotfl2: Sorry Luna, don't mean to laugh at you, you are so beautiful!!;)

she is soooooo cute! and the pink is just adorable :) hope she wins

Karen we are on the first flight our of Heathrow 0625 and have 3 others we can get on if we have any issues. As weather should not be an issue when we go, if you can get the first flight out.

We did the 0735 for our last cruise and it was perfect.

:-)

just looked at our booking and it was called the pre cruise package, its 135.00 euro's then 10.80 euro's tax so 145.80 in total, we booked direct with the hotel, susie

That would be Cotton Candy!

I grew up around Brits, so I knew what you meant. ;) But that's what we thought, too - good enough to eat!

she is soooooo cute! and the pink is just adorable :) hope she wins

That is amazing, good luck Luna & Neville!

Thank you, thank you! But don't forget Juanita. I'm working on a little pink tutu for her.

good luck to juanita too :) you'll have to let us know how they get on at the show

ok, so for our last 3 cruises we've always done late seating. dont know why, think its what we got assigned for first time and never wanted to change. as much as i like second seating, the last cruise we ended up missing some of the evening activities because we stayed at dinner for at least 2 hours, sometimes more...
what with this being the TA, there's apparently fewer kids on board, so main seating will be quieter than normal, but should i go for main dining or second. the early time doesnt bother me so much, but i also think it might be better for things like the dessert buffet and pirate night, as well as going to the evening activites.
which do you guys prefer?
