*Sept 10th 2011 WB Transatlantic* - From Spain to Space Mountain - Part 6

:lmao: That's why I haven't sign up..... I don't wear Pj's and I have enough issues with people thinking i'm going to be strolling around the ship naked! :rotfl2:

Glad to see we're not the only last-minute tag-ons...but you're right, we all expect to identify you by your tendency to....ahem... "under-dress"!
Well all, had quite a scare, spent last 4 days in hospital with possible gall bladder issues needing surgery, ended up being a stomach ulcer, but trust me for awhile there we were calling our travel insurance company and sweating bullets. See you all in 10 days!
Glad to hear it's not gall bladder, although a stomach ulcer is nothing to take lightly, either. If it's stress-related, you should seek compensation from your insurance company for the cost of the cruise...homeopathic medicine at its finest ;).

Sadly, that reason went away two weeks ago, but I didn't think there would be time to properly organize it again (not to mention the fact that my wife still probably wouldn't appreciate the celebration given the emotional ups and downs closely tied to it!).
I'm so very sorry to hear this. I hope you and your wife can relax and enjoy your cruise. How nice that you're taking the au pairs...lucky ladies!

Are you flying through Montreal?

We are taking Air Canada too - Ottawa to Montreal, then Montreal to Barcelona, but flying next Weds, so arriving on the 8th :cool1:

Hi, Lorraine:
We are flying out on Thursday the 8th, from Tampa to Toronto then on to Barcelona. So we don't arrive until the 9th. We'll see you there! Connie Graves (csgraves)

Just back from a lovely evening out with friends to celebrate my birthday on 9th oct ( because we will still be away), so looking forward to going away now, cases are packed and counting the days... just can't wait

We are wearing our shirts we had made from the front page designs. Hopefully others are wearing them too, otherwise may have to rethink our first day outfits! :rotfl2:

Same here, had a bit of a panic because found my tshirt to pack but couldn't find DH's one, seems an old ago we purchased them... but did find it in the end, so we will be in matching tshirts... lol that won't happen very often :rotfl2::rotfl2:

:lmao: That's why I haven't sign up..... I don't wear Pj's and I have enough issues with people thinking i'm going to be strolling around the ship naked! :rotfl2:

Same here I don't have any PJ's..... and claire neither do you, at last count you hadn't packed any clothes :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I haven't signed for the PJ breakfast because I'm not sure how I will handle the getting up in the morning yet.... so if I'm awake will it be ok to join or do I have to be on the list :thumbsup2

Well all, had quite a scare, spent last 4 days in hospital with possible gall bladder issues needing surgery, ended up being a stomach ulcer, but trust me for awhile there we were calling our travel insurance company and sweating bullets. See you all in 10 days!

OMG how dreadful for you so close to your holiday. Glad to hear you are better and will be joining us... take care

Watch this space ... we hope to organise a 2011 WBTA reunion in the UK next year :thumbsup2

Thank you so much. Just before I went to work this morning she popped up on my Facebook chat ... it was about 2am there and she had just finished her last shift. Anyway she said she had printed off her ticket, booked a coach to go to the airport, bought an extra bag and sorted out cash to pay for the bags. She was just packing. So that was a big relief to a worried Mum.

She will be in the air on her first leg round about now, so I will be on edge until she lands in Seattle in about 8 hours.

So glad you have heard from DD. I'm sure she will cope with her adventures fine, for you it may be different because no matter what, us mum's worry it's part of the job description :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Katia shouldn't have any impact on our trip. It will be long gone before our vacation moves that way! And fortunately, not hitting any areas we are going to be visiting.

I was actually wondering about it impacting the NE and flights on W, Th, F. Looks like we'll be OK from what I can tell.

For months now we've been tossing things in a closet saying "that's for the trip" and now it's a right big pile of junk!! I've never seen DH so detailed--maybe I shouldn't have shown him these DIS boards--we have collected every item anyone has ever listed as a good idea for a cruise. I think I'll be able to have a yard sale off my balcony! :rotfl2:
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::lmao::lmao::lmao:

One more Pass at Lanyard and Lanyard Lists

I am not sure what is going on with converting my excel spreadsheets but here goes again. I want to get this correct as John and I want to print the Dis cards over the weekend.

Please DO NOT PM or FB me if your information is correct. I am hoping my backup plan gets lanyards and holders here but Tuesday AM. I ordered a few extra lanyards so hope numbers are right this time.

First, the Lanyard List:

Second, the Lanyard team list

Thank you to everyone for their patience as I try to deal with a backup plan on the lanyards, get the Dis Navigator done, sort out the Madeira tour van assignments etc.

Coupled with that we had a death in the family, the porch on our Lake House has to be replaced (discovered when part caved in) before the snows in late fall, Samantha getting into law school in San Diego and various other sundry items!!

Noel,

You must have the patience of a saint to deal with all that and the cruise too. When you have a moment to say phew....let's enjoy a beverage together on the cruise and just celebrate the fact that we all made it!

Keri

I am absolutely totally freaking OUT! i CAN'T find my camera battery charger and I leave home tomorrow morning. It MUST be packed, but it's not checked off my LIST and it's not where it's supposed to be. Excuse me while I hyperventilate.

We are mixed about leaving. There are a lot of inconveniences living here and it can be a pain in the butt to drive, but it is fairly inexpensive on a U.S. salary, the people are lovely and it has its charms. Coming back to America will be weird I think at first all shiny and new, but then it is Washington DC, so we will soon hate the traffic, the price of everything, and by then it may be time to move again, so who knows!

Today went well with the movers. They are coming back tomorrow. Got a lot done today, should be done by Friday. It is finally starting to seem real that we are leaving...

Amanda

Glad today went well & hopefully that happy shiny new feeling will last a little longer.:goodvibes DC is not the easiest place to live b/c the cost of living is SO high, so I totally get where you're coming from. Do you know where you might be sent next?

OK.....for those of you who a while back recommended some authors/books for me to read on the cruise.....I picked The Concrete Blonde by Michael Connelly. I have been very good and not read all the books recommended (quite a few BUT not all!) to me. I hope it's a good one and thanks for all your suggestions! Now, if I can just leave the book alone for 9 days til we leave and not try to read it. Put. the. book. down. NOW! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

I'm getting my reading together too. I came across "An American Heiress" by Daisy Goodwin and it will be my first read - it is set in the 1800's and is all very glamorous - a little like the Age of Innocence if you've seen that movie...reads a bit like historical fiction but its all fiction, anyhow this book will probably be done by the end of the first sea day so I've got a few others in mind that will be downloaded on the Kindle.

What is Everyone wearing on Embark day? The shirts you designed or something else?

Just wondering:-)

I will be wearing neutral gang colors that don't identify me immediately as a diser
No really though, I'll probably wear capris and a t-shirt.

Kathy,

We'll be neighbors--I'm in 6600. I leave Saturday for MCO; board the Dream for 4 day cruise on Sunday. Fly to Barcelona Friday. Can't wait to meet everyone!!

See you all Saturday.

Sandy

That sounds just lovely Sandy. Enjoy the Dream & we'll see you onboard!

I am so stressed and anxious right now .... but not about this cruise. Tomorrow my DD is leaving WDW at the end of her College Progamme ( yes .. that went quick !! ) and flying across the USA to Seattle via Detroit. I booked her flight a few days ago and sent her the E-ticket plus info relating to baggage costs, check in times, layover times etc. Since then I have heard nothing from her and don't know if she has got the E-ticket in her email, she hasn't been on Facebook etc either. I imagine she is just busy packing up and finishing her last shifts etc, but I am just so anxious that she gets safely to Seattle. She has never done anything like thsi completely on her own, as when she flew out to USA she was with a group and on a direct flight. I can't even think about the cruise this evening or anything else for that matter and I certainly won't sleep well tonight. Being a parent can be really hard sometimes :sad2::sad2::sad2:

I'm so glad this worked out! I was feeling stressed for you myself - flying is stressful but as a parent I would be on pins & needles until I heard from her.

Yes, room 2030. My first time below deck 5, another new experience. And the rom is all mine, along with the remote control as I get ready for bed.

One great thing about being on a lower deck is that you don't feel ship movement as much - so if we run into rough seas, your room will be more comfortable than say, a room on the 10th floor. :thumbsup2

I decided against making my door a slowly evolving finding nemo scene (wish i could get all the materials for it to make it work) BUT I've decided instead to make interchangeable signs and magnets for the door. Anybody else planning on doing funky things with their door?
I like the idea of decorating and changing every day. Keeps my mind active :-) :yay:

We are doing a Toy Story theme. 6067

Just you wait and see :genie::idea::wizard::eek: Does that tell you anything? Room 8008, check it out.

Evelyn

Now I am curious! Can't wait to see everyone's doors!

Claire, my pjs are lounge pants and a white t-shirt. Makes for a dull photo, but that's what it is.

I think my pj's would make for an interesting photo  but alas I am not going to the pj breakfast - Disney is a family cruise line after all! :rotfl:

Well all, had quite a scare, spent last 4 days in hospital with possible gall bladder issues needing surgery, ended up being a stomach ulcer, but trust me for awhile there we were calling our travel insurance company and sweating bullets. See you all in 10 days!

Yikes! So sorry for your health scare and the pain the ulcer must be. Safe travels and we'll see you onboard.

dont worry, you'll be in good company with claire around!

And me too! I haven't packed a thing - I will start a little tomorrow and do it this weekend and next week until Tues.

Thank you to everyone for their patience as I try to deal with a backup plan on the lanyards, get the Dis Navigator done, sort out the Madeira tour van assignments etc.

Good gracious Noel, you are amazing. I don't think you should have to pay for one drink on this cruise as we certainly all owe you one! :thanks:

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Will you have any good bargains?

Noel, if there was a way for me to help you, I surely would! When you get over the top, just declare it done and that is it. As for the lanyards - if they show up they do, if they don't___ we'll cope. You're almost to the finish line!

Honestly Karen you don't need to pay us it will be fun to have a reason to go there and do a collection!

 I will have to think up something special from Oregon to share with you guys ... you wouldn't happen to need any rain would you ... we're famous for that

Do you mean to say there are boards other than the DISboards :confused3

...What other place are you guys talking about?

I can appreciate the high cost of living as we have it here in spades. I don't know how people starting out can afford to live anywhere near here unless they live in a very small place!!

Good gracious Noel, you are amazing. I don't think you should have to pay for one drink on this cruise as we certainly all owe you one! :thanks:

I appreciate the kind words. I think I bit off a bit more than I could chew this cruise as DH has been so busy and hasn't been able to help me as much.

People must think I am an idiot with all the corrections on the Excel spreadsheets but I hope I have finally got them right.

I am with you on the lanyards!! I have done my back up plan and if that doesn't work, I throw up my hands!!

Dis Navigator is coming along so hope to have a preliminary version by Saturday AM. I will be bringing computer and printer along to print some extra copies, plus a flash drive to upload if people want to upload to their own computers if they have left before final version!

Do you mean to say there are boards other than the DISboards :confused3

...What other place are you guys talking about?

I think they mean the Cruise Critic board which I haven't posted on this cruise. I was California Mrs there on last cruise but didn't do as much as on this cruise so I had more time.

Cruise Critic - which has threads for all the different cruise lines. But the Disney thread is SOOOOOOO minimal compared to the DISboards. However, if you do another cruise on a different cruise line you should definitely go there. And it also has threads based on destinations, so if you are looking for info on excursions you can find a lot of info.

Ditto the above... joined CruiseCritic for our first cruise way back in 2000. Has been great for the other cruiselines we have been on (HAL, Celebrity, Norwegian). But DCL just has very little activity. I kept scratching my head trying to figure it out when booking this cruise, and somehow managed to come across the DISboards!
