*Sept 10th 2011 WB Transatlantic* - From Spain to Space Mountain - Part 6

Good evening everyone
Great news about the room assignments coming in !!!!

I have sent an email through the FE google doc, at least i think i have but not sure as i didnt really know how the communication part worked, so thought i'd also put my garbled and waffled message on here too!!!:rotfl:

Here goes...........

I wanted to explain the story behind our Candy swap items without giving away what it is, because i thought i'd be able to make little tags to go on the bags explaining where it was from in the UK and what cabin it was from, but i have had no luck in making said tag!! Ok now i'm waffling so i'll just get done with explaining.

At some point during the cruise you will all find a small clear bag in your FE's/Candy holders with candy in and there is a sticker that says what the candy is and also where it is from.

So this is the explanation i wanted to put on the bag but couldnt........
The candy was brought from Pooh Corner, in Hartfield, East Sussex, which is roughly 10 minutes away from where we live. This is the original Pooh Corner store which is situated on the edge of Ashdown Forest, (which was made The Hundred Acre Wood in the stories) where A.A Milne lived and based the original Winne The Pooh stories on. Within the forest is also Pooh Bridge where you can throw pooh sticks, Roos sandy pit and the Heffalump Trap as well as much more. This is the map of the area (We live in small town called Edenbridge, which you will see labelled at top of map) .....

pooh.jpg

Over the years we have taken many of the children we have cared for to these woods and to Pooh Corner and they have loved every minute, so i just wanted to share with you all a little background behind our candy swap gift, because i was dissappointed that i couldnt fit on the bags!

So now when you see the little bag in your FE with the Pooh Corner label, you will know its from hazelandannie :))))

Annemarie

Love it! Can't wait to see it! and eat it....lol

What a lovely idea. I love Pooh and love to see it.
Now I am pity I am not in the candy swap.

My sister and her DH stayed in that room on the June 2009 Western Caribbean cruise! The kids and I were next door in 2013! It was a great room! Nice and dark - great for sleeping! :thumbsup2
Awesome! I'm very excited although I'm worried I'll keep looking in the mirror since its above the bed...

:wave2: Howdy, neighbor!!! We are practically across the hall! :)

Guess I'll knock on your door if I need to see the sunlight :rotfl:

Pat, Noel, Karen & Michelle

I have PM'd you all a list of the GTY's that have posted room numbers so far, I will continue with my list tomorrow morning. :thumbsup2

Thank you!! Have a nice evening!! See you in the AM!

John and are continuing to work on the DIS Navigator made difficult by so many changes, no rooms numbers etc.

One thing came up that I was not sure of. What night did we decide to do the Mickey Mouse Club? I know it was the 19th at one point but it seems to have fallen off the calendar. Is everyone ok with the 19th?

:worship: Oh great ones! (If there's anything the old lady can do to help, holler!) The 19th was the date on my notes.

I'll breathe easier as we get into Labor Day if the easterly curve comes true. They are calling for this one to be a monster regardless of where it goes, which could be Bermuda. Hopefully it being that far out would not screw up travel in the US.

Part of my concern in addition to NY in general being affected by this is that AA only has one flight to BCN on Thursday. If something happens to that and it gets canceled, we'd be bumped below everyone else already booked on Friday's flight, which would put us into BCN only a few hours before embarkation...if we made the flight.

I'm not one who is comfortable only having one option, which is why I am putting the option of reroute in my back pocket. Problem is all of the fees that AA wants to charge to rebook a FREE ticket!

I get very paranoid when traveling internationally given how much $ is involved - our last trip to London we went through FOUR canceled flights on AA due to weather and then could not get a seat on the remaining ones because they were all full - we could not get out of STL for almost 8 hours and just barely made the last flight of the day to LHR out of O'Hare!

OMG. Leet's not EVEN THINK it!

Our FE has our names on it, not our DIS name, but our names, which is also on the FE list. Unfortunately, we have no ability to make magnets in Macedonia. But hopefully we will be at the meet and greet to update our cabin and you can tell by our FE if you have the right room.

Amanda

I have the ability to do a magnet (s). PM me your names & city or whatever of origin.

I thought I would keep a list of all the birthdays on board. This is what I have so far, so if anyone is missing from the list, or you could fill in names and cabin numbers if you have them, that would be great.

Good Job! Thank you

I think that it is important as a women traveling alone that you have as much security as possible. I guess I am a bit assertive.
AMEN!

Hi all,

I've come down with a cold and have been feeling horrible for several days and haven't been on much. I guess it means that if I'm sick now, I won't be on the trip.

We leave on Sunday....and I've not packed one darned thing nor have I run all the errands I need to run. Hope to do some tonight and then get to bed early again.

Take care all,

Keri

Airbourne - or Coldeze - and CHICKEN SOUP!

Keri, feel better soon. I'M SICK TOO. :headache::headache::headache: I'm cold, shivery, shaky, sore throat, stuffy nose... I don't bleeding have time for this!

I know it's better to get it over with now, but I have clients up the yingyang all this week, including a wedding party to beautify tomorrow night (meaning I can't cancel unless I lose my pulse, otherwise I'll be murdered by a very ticked off bride).

Am just feeling sorry for myself, sorry! Please send get-well vibes... my husband wants me quarantined to the sofa so he doesn't catch it!

Airbourne - or Coldeze - and CHICKEN SOUP! for you too, my dear.

That's a SWEET story. I might be able to fix something up for you, if you'd still like to have them.

I am fighting a sore throat. Taking lots of Vit. C. Seems to be working so far.:yay::yay:

Airbourne - or Coldeze - and CHICKEN SOUP! for you too!

For HEAVENS Sake - STAY away from Sickies, people! time is getting short. Achoo!

Is anyone else having trouble concentrating at work?

I've started amusing myself by reminding my boss I'll be leaving next week and watch him start hyperventilating! :lmao:

I am so torn about this I have a headache. What do you suggest? Either way I still have to get back to the airport. By the way I emailed the Renassance and they were of no help as to how I should call the hotel for airport pick up. :confused3:confused3:confused3:confused3:confused3:confused3:confused3:confused3

That would be very helpful Karen. Thanks

The shuttle does run on a regular basis from Terminal 1, with a list of Airlines that does not include Aer Lingus. T2, T3 & T4 said you have to call for pick up once you have your luggage. Hopefully they will schedule a pick up for me. It is probably just paranoia on my part, but just being my sister and I, I think we will stick with the DCL tranportation to the ship. It is nothing personal, I am sooooooo excited to meet everyone. You all seem like such nice people. By the way HAPPY Birthday Karen. Hope you had a great day. I know it is nightime there.

I have a PDF flyer that lists the phone number to call for Terminal 2 pickups as 933783200. There is also a map showing the pickup locations. If you PM me your e-mail address, I'd be happy to forward it to you. Terminal 1 is a regular service every 20-30 minutes depending on time of day.

The Renaissance also has a shuttle to the cruise port at 11 a.m., 12 noon & 1 p.m. for 10 Euros per person (including luggage). For this you need a reservation. Just e-mail the number of people, date, time & cruiseline to rhi.bcnbr.concierge@renaissancehotels.com. I received a prompt reply confirming the reservation.

Aww, this made me sad too that I didn't join with the candy swap. I would love to at least see what it is, as I love Pooh :lovestruc just as my DISname says. Disney used to sell little chocolate honeypots filled with caramel (ala caramello) that I always bought. I would love to see the store and of course The Woods.

Just a few last minute questions

Does the Magic have ipod docks?

Do the men have to wear long pants when visiting Montserrat?

Thanks for any help on this :flower3:

Don't remember seeing iPod docks in regular rooms. But if I am wrong, someone will quickly correct me.

Last year when we visited Montserrat in the morning it was chilly and foggy so DH wore long pants. It is a church so I would err or the side of wearing what one would wear in a church setting.

Karen
I will put aside a bag for you. We are going there at the weekend so if you would like a genuine Pooh stick collected just let me know :) or any other Pooh fans

Annemarie.....if by some chance you have an extra one.....I would love one. I love Pooh! One of my favorite songs if Pooh Corner.....such a sweet song!
If you run out.....no prob! Thanks!:goodvibes

So glad to hear that you are all getting your room assignments. One more thing to breath easy about. Now if Katia will just stay out to sea until at least the end of next week that would be even better.

Ok for anyone that has taken the Renfe train can you help me with something? I want to make sure that I am understanding this one correctly. The site is in English unless you want to book and then it goes to Spanish.:confused3 Go fig. My question is that what the heck is the difference in the categories?? We figured out that the cheapest rate is if you just want a seat and not a bed and all the rest have beds. What is the difference between Cama turista and cama preferen doble familiar and the G Class? Sorry. I've never traveled by train so I am not sure what would be best to book. There are 4 adults and 1 3yr old.
