Stevie is starting to get the hang of who's who now. He's remembered you two as he met you both last year, but it's DD that makes me laugh, I'll be chatting with DH about who said what on the boards and she gets cross with me saying that these people are strangers from the Internet.... You have to be careful, they may not be who they say they are ... At least she has been listening to me :thumbsup2. You and Tony are exempt from the warnings as we met you already, so it's safe to sit with you at dinner :rotfl2: everyone else are potential axe murderers :rotfl:

Definitely Pat :thumbsup2 If this year's WBTA is anything like last year, it was anarchy at the adult pool and the Disney police got involved because of all the complaints. They were watching the CCTV to see how long the loungers had been left unattended and were putting belongings down to lost property. It was quite funny to watch :lmao: we gave up trying to get one after the first sea day and stuck with deck 10 instead. Only downside, longer to walk for a FAB :rotfl2:

Wow your DD sounds like my DH - lol. He gets crazy with me for posting pics too! :rotfl: Actually I'm amazed at how much I'm looking forward to the cruise and meeting everyone! :woohoo:

Great recap Lynne. :)

This cracked me up!! I dare not wear any of the white T-shirts (Mickey Mouse club, WBTA 2011 logo, etc) even for a SECOND as make-up, mustard, or black oil will fling itself across the room and stick to the shirt permanently! BTW, I can be counted on to have not one but TWO Tide pens on me at any given time as I am a walking stain attractor. You can "read" all my tops to see what I had for breakfast, lunch, snack, etc

They sound good, i'd need about 10 of them Tide Pens! My husband always tells me i'm like a walking menu as I always spill stuff down my clothes too. :lmao:

Yep. The "boss" (aka head bagger) hired a lot of new people the last couple of weeks. Problem is, there aren't enough customers to support that many baggers. Most of us haven't even been making minimum wage every day. Not even close. The tips have been terrible lately. One customer was overheard saying, "Why do we have to tip these people? They don't do anything," after the bagger packed up their 10 or 12 bags of groceries! There is a sign on the wall that says, "baggers work for tips," and anyone who has ever shopped at a US military base commissary knows this - it's the same everywhere.

Anyway, I was late getting there today and heard the head bagger was looking for me (he leaves at 4). I thought maybe he wanted to know why I was late - even though there are several of us who are late, usually b/c of our other jobs, though admittedly, I've been taking my time getting there, knowing there are plenty of baggers and it will be a while before I get a customer, anyway. The assistant head bagger, who is in charge of my shift, doesn't really care if we're a little late. She's a sweetheart. But that wasn't it.

Apparently, he has a problem with me taking 3 weeks off for the cruise. Funny thing is, when he hired me back in April, I told him, point blank, that I'd be away for 3 weeks in September, which he said would not be a problem and I should just be sure to mark it on the scheduling calender. I did that the first week I worked there - that would be back in April. And NOW he decides he has a problem with it? Wouldn't surprise me - he's very inconsistent about enforcing rules. If he likes you, you don't have to follow them; if not, you'd better follow them to the letter - and even then he'll find fault. And several of the baggers have been floating my name around to replace him as head bagger (I think they do this in February), even though I've told them I don't want the job. So I have the feeling that may have something to do with this.

So I have to go in and talk to him tomorrow. I'll be polite, but I won't be pushed around. If he gives me a hard time about it, I'll just say, "Well, let's call yesterday my last day, shall we?" and leave. I'm sure we'll find a way to live without the $4-5 an hour I've been making the last few weeks.

Okay. Rant over. It feels good to get that out.

 That is stupid! How can he even question your leave when they agreed to it before you started. :sad2:

I hope your chat goes well, if not then make sure you tell him where he can stick his "Bags". ;)

No, no-one complained, I just read my own post and was extremely embarrased at what I had actually written. didn't mean a word of it. Jean

Well nobody took any offence so please don't be embarrassed. I sometimes read my posts back and wonder why on earth I had written that or written it like that.

Me too! Text can read so differently to how you it would sound if you said it out loud.

Don't worry Jean, I don't think anyone took offense and us Brits are the first to complain about our airports/airlines anyway. :lmao:

One of the things I absolutely love about flying to America is how clean & well maintained all of your airports are (well the one's we've been to). :) Lee & I always say to each other in a sarcastic tone it's good to be back when we land at the dump they call Gatwick airport.

I have a Prince and Princess to "rent".

:thumbsup2

My husband isn't too worried about joining us on a tea, so I'm guessing I can take 3 people? If anyone wants to come with us, can you PM me? My 2 year old girl and 6 year old boy would love some company!

Have you already 3 people? I sent you a pm. I love to go with you.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Just an interesting bit of info: DH checked cabin availability today and found that VGT was available again (but not IGT or OGT). An hour later, the VGT has disappeared. A bit later in the day, the category was back again. The DCL elves are playing again! :confused3 It also appears all of the two-porthole cabins are booked; good news for those on the OGT list (incl. my DM).

It is confusing. All the changes that you can book. I suppose they are switch us GTY's around. Because they have to hold that amount of cabins that are booked with the restriction. So it means nothing that it cannot booked anymore I think. But what will I know about it. We have to wait and that is not easy. I now want to know wich cabin.

Paul and Helen aka tubbsteruk will be joining all of us in group 1 palo brunch. : )))

Welcome Paul and Helen in the Palo brunch group 1

How did you get two Pauls in Group 1? We have 2 guys in our group now that William & Catherine have joined us - otherwise, Norman was going to be surrounded by women.

Here's a positive story about using the DCL website:

I had a Palo tea that I wanted to give to Hazel and Annemarie. We tried a few times to get on the site, to no avail. Last night, we logged in (from Alabama and England - I love that); I dropped my reservation and they were able to pick it up (and there were no other slots available). :thumbsup2

If "good things come to those who wait," does that mean good cabin assignments for all of us waiting (not necessarily patiently)? I only check my reservation once a day now; I am expecting it to be the week of the cruise while I'm in Europe and have limited internet access (and don't have a lovely large keyboard)

SO sorry, Pat. I always tipped the commissary baggers $1 a bag - they were 'dependents' just like me. I'm surprised you have stood it as long as you have.

Lynne, THANKS for the recap! :thumbsup2 I always see stuff I've totally missed on the thread.

I have done this with 2 separate cruisers this time and both have worked a treat. Just need to have the timing right.

Good afternoon everyone. Just wanted to stop by to show you something that we received today ............................

Here is hoping that you get your good thing and get yourself a lovely cabin when you finally get your assignment, after doing that lovely thing for us. It was quite a tense moment last night when it wasnt showing up as available straight away! :scared1:

It's not very common anymore. :sad2:

Its a bit like common sense, not so common anymore, very hard to come by.

I am dancing with you! Actually, I was smiling at how happy we are all to get our documents when it occurred to me I hadn't seen ours in a while. Immediate panic set in and I had to rush to the bedroom and root through the drawers and closets until I found where I had stashed the docs so they'd be "safe and in a good spot."

Honestly, if there were a fire I would go for the documents first. . .

I am so sorry this has happened to you, we spend so much of our life at work and the attitude of some people leaves a lot to be desired. It's so rare now just to be treated with respect in the work place..... where have all the jobsworths and power crazed people come from:sad2::sad2::sad2: It good you have decide what you want to do in advance. and I hope it goes well and this man dosen't upset up lol dosen't he know how angry dissers can get !!

Hi everyone! I heard a good one the other day and wanted to share. My MIL said that putting a Beyer aspirin in your bellybutton is a cure for seasickness! She said to put a whole aspirin in your bellybutton and keep it there until is disolves. Then replace it with another one. I'm not sure how you keep an aspirin in your bellybutton :confused3

Anyone hear this before?

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: I'll look out for those doing the aspirin belly dance:rotfl2:.....don't think I'd manage that one

:cheer2::cheer2: so excited for you :cheer2::cheer2:

On another note I cooked some kippers this morning forgetting one of my formal dresses was hanging on the door in the next room:eek::eek: so the person that smells of kippers on formal night will be me !!!

I never go anywhere with a TidetoGo pen. I have one in my purse, one in the car and one at my desk at work. I sympathise with the walking stain magnet problem. I put all my brand new shirts, Mickey Mouse Club, WBTA logo, pirate night away until the second I need to put them on. I am not putting on my embarkation t-shirt until we reach the airport in Barcelona.

Hi Pat! Did I see you work for a groomer? I'm thinking about dog grooming. Do you like it?

I bathe the dogs for her 3 days a week. I tried doing the clips, working for my vet, but it wasn't a good situation and I hated it. (We can get together on the ship and I'll tell you all the gory details.)

I love the groomer I work with. She works in a different vet's office, but is thinking about starting her own salon. I might be persuaded to try clipping again, with her, as she is very patient and encouraging. She wants me to try again, but I really enjoy just bathing, drying, and brushing out the dogs. It makes all the difference in the world working with someone who knows what she's doing and respects what I do.

If you're interested in doing it, I'd suggest apprenticing with someone first. Do some research, too. The most popular groomer in town isn't necessarily the best.

I guess you have never been to the New York/New Jersey area airports? Clean, but CRAZY!!! I always say when we fly home, "no wonder people have a bad image of New Jersey, the first thing they see is Newark." Not the nicest of areas. No one gets to see all the beautiful farmland in the west part of the state. Including me.

Yep i've been to JFK twice, it was crazy but definitely a lot cleaner than our airports. The same with your malls etc, they always seem so much cleaner and nicer than ours. :)
