I just spend the day on cruise prep! WHAT FUN!!!!

We bought Erik two new suits. He didn't have any summery ones. Actually, all he had is a dark grey one so we bought him a light grey and a tan.

We also spent the day searching for my passport. Erik went to find it yesterday and it was missing from our usual spot. I didn't remember putting it away. So today we tore our room apart looking for it. The main thing is we did find it. It was on my bed side table underneath a basket I keep my lip balm and lotion in. At least we now have a clean closet. LOL!

And don't forget one night we're doing our Mickey Mouse Club t-shirts. Those should look pretty good with your jeans or black jeans (or dress pants, or whatever).

Lynne, what did you say that promo code was for Zazzle.com? I think you said it was still good through the end of August. I need to order our Mickey Mouse Club shirts soon.

Can these be any kind of mickey mouse shirts or is it the club design? Is this a dcl thing or a dis evening?

Sorry if this has been covered. I know how the formal nights are, but how do people feel about Jeans at dinner on Casual nights.

I know this is also a hot topic on many of the boards I follow. Personally I prefer jeans over khakis, but just wondering what others are planning on doing.

Also from a packing perspective makes it a bit easier for 14 days. I do not see anything specifically from DCL.

Thoughts?

We fully intend on wearing (nice) jeans on the casual nights, either with polos or button down shirts and nice shoes (the same black ones we would be wearing with our suits on formal nights).

I am bringing a pair of black jeans but will also do Khakis. I agree with the post on how you pair with a shirt and shoes which determines the look. So far it sounds like many will have on jeans for casual night. At the very least there will be several people that have your back!!

Cheers.

Well, jeans in the dining room can be a hot topic on the cruise boards, so hopefully it will be discussed in a friendly manner on this thread since we're all friends here. :goodvibes

DCL says that casual means "no shorts, swimwear or tank tops," so jeans are fine on casual nights in the main dining room (fyi-you can't wear jeans to Palo.)

Personally, we don't wear jeans in the dining room, but that's just how we roll.

Its not part of the rules, but my opinion is that as long as your jeans are in decent condition and you don't look sloppy, you're good!:thumbsup2

We like to dress up a bit even on cruise casual nights, but with 14 nights, I'll probably wear jeans at some point. Dennis rarely wears jeans anywhere.

So we won't give you funny looks for your jeans if you don't give us funny looks for dressing up. We're pretty much "live and let live," since we're all on vay-cay. Well, except for one thing...

Our pet peeve is men who wear baseball caps to dinner. I don't know when that became acceptable, but I hate it - and Dennis hates it more. We were always taught that men should remove hats when inside and especially at meals. I think it's a military thing for Dennis, too. I just don't buy the "bad hair day" thing for men. Women, yes; men, no. (Okay, you can let me have it, now! I have my flame-retardant jammies on. ;) ) Oh, and Mickey ears are exempt from this prohibition, of course!!

Tomorrow is August 1! This is your last chance to sign up for the FE exchange!!

You must PM me with your info (names, room #, etc.) by midnight (East coast U.S. time) Monday night to be included.

Hard to believe the deadline is finally here! Just a few short weeks now!

As soon as the GTY people start to get their room assignments, I'll start a "discussion" on the Google group page for everyone to post their room numbers. Everyone will get a email when I do that, and I'll put up a reminder here, as well.

I'm so excited!! :banana::banana:

We didn't have such a good experience at Boma at the Animal Kingdom Lodge - they forgot that we had checked in for our "reservation" and only remembered to seat us almost 45 mins later after I went and asked why other groups of 2 were being seated when they arrived much later than us. The server was also clearly frazzled and was having difficulty coping with all of the tables assigned to him. There were long line ups for food at some stations, no signs or chefs on hand to describe some of the dishes and the tables were extremely close to each other. In all honestly, it felt like being in a zoo and we will definitely not return there again, which is a shame as we had eaten there shortly after it had opened and had an awesome meal on that occasion, but that was pre-Disney Dining plan.

So sorry to hear about your Boma experience. We recently stayed at AKL in early June and dined there for the first time and had a very different experience. We planned the trip last minute and got a military room rate so no dining plan and no reservations made until we got there, but we were able to get dinner and breakfast at Boma, as well as dinner at Sanaa, which we also really enjoyed! We had been to Jiko's before and I think that is a bit overpriced, though the service was great (that was 2 years ago). I also was very impressed with the Mara, their quick service area, as they went out of their way to make me scrambled egg whites and veggies and even got some of their wonderful broiled tomatoes from Boma to add to my breakfast plate. So yummy!!! We did dine early (4:45pm) so maybe that made a difference?:confused3 It also makes it very convenient to eat there when you are staying there.

...Any idea's on getting my holiday mojo back please !!... really need this holiday right now but will need at least 40 days to pack !!margaret

Well, if you need 40 days to pack, you had better get going, cause that's all you've got! If that doesn't put the tiger in your tank, I don't know what will.

...As for getting your holiday mojo back, how's this for inspiration?
http://youtu.be/oQPugW3SKXE

Thanks - that got me sidetracked - went and looked up the words for Adventures Away! for sail away, then to Cha-Cha Slide and Cupid Shuffle; if that doesn't give a vacay mojo boost, I don't know what will. To the right, to the right, to the right, to the left....

...Paul has jeans in different collours and he is looking good in it.
I am not sure what the pollicy is on jeans. I like to hear.

Okay, is that just the mom talking?

Officially,

"Question
What should I wear to dinner?
Answer
Dining Dress requirements vary by venue or theme night on your cruise. In general, most meals are "Cruise Casual"—no shorts, swimwear or tank tops. Most cruises also have special theme nights with additional attire requirements. Here's a breakdown of these events by cruise itinerary.

On 7-night cruises:

First night: cruise casual—no shorts, swimwear or tank tops
Three additional "cruise casual" nights—no shorts, swimwear or tank tops
One pirate or tropical night (deck party)
One formal and one semi-formal night—formal wear for men: tuxedo or suit; for women: gown or dress; semi-formal wear for men: suit/jacket; for women: dress or pantsuit.
Dress code at Palo on all cruises:

Men: dress pants and shirt or jacket
Women: dress or pantsuit
Please no jeans, shorts, capri pants, flip-flops or tennis shoes

SAYITTSHIRTS

I ended making my MM Club shirt with an iron-on transfer and a shirt of my own liking - saved a bunch of $$

It's a DIS thing.

Preach It, Sister!

Heather, you sound just like me! While I am good about putting away passports and tickets, I frequently misplace other things and end up pulling the place apart looking for them, usually only to find them in a completely different part of the house from where I was looking :rotfl2: But at least the area pulled apart in the search usually ends up a lot tidier :thumbsup2

Perhaps it was a time of year and time of reservation thing then. :confused3 The first time we ate at Boma, we had a 5 pm reservation and really enjoyed the meal and the restaurant. Our most recent visit was in March, during Spring Break (so WDW was very busy) and our reservation was for 7:45 pm. We did enjoy the ambience of the hotel itself and watching the animals on the savannah before heading in to eat. Perhaps next time we're there, we'll try one of the other AKL restaurants instead :)

Alright - How many of you will be checking the DCL site first thing in the morning for room assignments??? :surfweb:

I'll be one of them! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Fingers crossed that it is soon... I hope there is lots of pixiedust: pixie dust pixiedust: for everyone. ;)

Probably feeling warm, but lookin' good. (imo jeans are hot and heavy - I'm not packing any.)

Our pet peeve is men who wear baseball caps to dinner.

AMEN!

Happy, however, that most people do wear clothes of SOME kind for dinner. . .

I'll wait until a bit later in the day; figure the employee must be still tinkering with it and won't have it done til afternoon.

Well, since you mentioned staterooms, I thought I'd pop over and see what's available - there's still a lot of available categories.

And they ARE NOT cheaper than what I paid for my Restricted GTY Oceanview. I paid $1782 for that for a solo. The cheapest cabin for me now would be an inside at $1958; oceanview $2535; verandah $3603 (the VGV had been ~ $2400 previously). And there are no Restricted GTY rooms at all.

I can't hear those words without singing the song! Cha cha now y'all........

There's at least 73 staterooms available; 2 categories are selling as GTY; 4 of those staterooms are 1-bedroom concierge, including the largest of these, the handicapped far aft with the GIANT balcony (8602 and 8102).

The Adventures Away song lyrics (sung at sail away after the horn sounds):

(sung by Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Chip 'N Dale...):

The time has come to set our sails for adventure!
We’re making a run, the party’s begun,
Come on everyone!
With Mickey here right by our side, Imagination is our guide!
This is a dream come true that All of us can share,
You know the excitement’s in the air! (Come on!)

(we join in):

Adventures Away!
‘Cross the ocean blue, And suddenly you are Sailing away!
There’s so much to explore,
And everything’s waiting for you!
Join the celebration,
And watch as your dreams all come true… ADVENTURES AWAY!!”
