Good Morning Everyone!!!!!

For those of you who want the plastic cups, I used mine yesterday and it is very nice. The top has a bit of rubber/plastic at the top of the cap and the cup so it seals really well and the straw has a little nub on it that keeps it from coming out of the top. The only caveat - it is not dishwasher safe.

We are hoping to grill out for dinner tonight....but only if it doesn't rain, so fingers crossed for that.

Thoughts are with you today Jacqueline. We are pulling for you!

I am not-so-patiently waiting too. They must still be working on the room assignments I guess. :rolleyes1

Yes I'm obsessed. I check for my room assignment at least 5 times daily!
I just like thinking about my location....it makes me happy!;)

5. Noel...thank you for your help and replies. Do you think we could do both east and west tours in Madeira? As for the Tortola tour and what we should include in the WElcome Package, I will revise the Tortola idea to just a ride sharing to the Dolphin Discovery instead. There may be restrictions and it may be too complicated for me to organize.

First, there is time for only one tour in Madeira as both are all day tours. Second, I will put the info in about the Dolphin Discovery as to contact only and share ride. Does that work?

8. I had an idea yesterday afterwards which may work if anyone else in interested in joining me. You see after my 2 previous cruises, I gained weight and kept it on. Now, my goal is to lose the weight I've gained from the 2 cruises (in less than 9 months of each other) and to begin this WBTA at my precruise comfy weight, to allow me to eat at all meals without guilt and comfortably. My idea would be to organize a group of pre-cruise Health Watchers (HW we can call it) since we will watch the food intake and exercise program pre-cruise on a daily basis, logging in somehow what is the goal, then daily accomplishment (as per advise from Noel & Karen if we can have this in the WP and front page) and then on the cruise itself we will plan to continue this, daily, by meeting and making a program, and seeing if we can stick to a daily program of eating X amount & exercising--sharing what we did, what worked & what didn't for that day. Male & female are welcome to join in. If anyone else has any ideas let me know. (a little about myself I am not a fitness addict, but I would like to lose this weight I've gained from previous cruises and begin a new cruise without it coming on board as well as to cruise in support of exercise, etc because it's tough to do it alone for 15 days)
Thanks!!
:hippie::cutie:

Tell me how you want me to post this in Welcome Wagon post and the final DIS Navigator and it will be done.

I defer to the Londoners on this board, but I did a study abroad at London University when I was an undergraduate. I am originally from the Boston area and I found that the Tube or Underground was very similar to the T in Boston--color coded and named, not numbered and colored like in Paris or NY. Also, there are many similarities (not surprisingly) between Boston and London in both architecture and layout. Covent Garden and Faneuil Hall could be twins! Getting around on the tube is quite easy, and the city is great. Be sure, if you like musicals and/or theatre, to try to get half price tickets in Leicester Square ticket booth for day of shows. But being a New Englander by birth, it was in a weird way like being in a parallel universe, including all the names. I even visited my sister town from my Massachusetts town while I was there.

On flights, I was just fooling around on Kayak and there appears to be a direct flight from Boston to London on 8 Sept on Iberian airlines for $407 one way with no layovers, so you might want to check it out. I saw the one on Icelandic air, but that one comes up as second cheapest and that one has the long layover. The only reason I looked was that usually there are pretty cheap one ways to London from Boston given the frequency of travel and distance.

Check it out.

On white noise, my DH and us are addicted--and I know the irony of this--to the ocean sound on our sound soother/alarm clock we have. It is a travel size and we bring it with us everywhere. We must sleep to the ocean and it serves as a good alarm. Even though we are on the ocean, we need it!

I would love to have a travel alarm clock like that. That would be so soothing to go to sleep to the sound of the ocean (unless I have imbibed a few too many "FABS"....then it might bring on seasickness! lol) Where did you get the alarm? Wonder if you can order one online?

I had a search and it looks like you can get them over there, but not over here in the UK.

I did post those pictures of the Tower of London & Tower Bridge to entice Josh to visit.

While I am flying to London pre-cruise (& pre-DLP), I am not doing a lot of "London" time. I'll have two nights at the Atheneum Hotel in Mayfair and will visit Buckingham Palace (and get over jet lag after flying from Huntsville - JFK - Frankfurt - London Heathrow : all this to save money and fly on Singapore Airlines, even though it is an overnight flight). My brother says he'd fly anywhere just to fly Singapore Airlines; it's on his bucket list.

Then my niece and I will drive to Bath for the weekend, stopping at Stonehenge and Salisbury (to see one of the 3 copies of the Magna Carta - she is a law student). After a weekend taking the spa, a comedy walk, lovely views, and Jane Austen's Regency Tea Room (the best restaurant cakes I've ever had - my sister says possibly the best cakes, anywhere and she bakes a mean cake), we'll head to Windsor Castle.

Two nights stay at a new hotel on the west side of London on the estate of the Duke of Northumberland, Syon Park, giving me Monday to visit Kew Gardens and Hampton Palace, then it's off to DLP x 2 nights and then Barcelona x 2 nights. I've got 5 reservations of 2 nights apiece before settling in to my Magical stateroom; I'll be glad to settle in for a while.

Keeping a tradition that amuses my nieces, I've been sure to include several UNESCO World Heritage Sites in this visit: Stonehenge, Kew Gardens and the entire City of Bath - three in one visit.

Sounds great. I have been to the 3 unesco world heritage sites over 20 years ago. I'm currious how it is now. Stonehedge was then very touristic already but Kew Gardens and Bath I found lovely.
I hope we can talk about it at the cruise.

Sounds a fascinating itinerary Lynne .... you will have seen more of the UK sights than I have ... and I live here :thumbsup2

3 things i have on my to do list is -Doctor Who Experience, -Buckingham Palace, -Tower of London tour

Go on a tour of the Tower given by one of the Yeoman Warders .... they are the guardians of the Tower and they really bring the history of the place to life ..... a bit too graphically at some points. :scared1:

Just an FYI, for future reference, for anyone driving a rental from the port to MCO and needing a fill-up.

When you get to the airport, instead of exiting into the airport, exit north on Hwy436/Semoran Blvd and go a couple of miles up Semoran. DO NOT stop at the 1st gas station on the right - that's the one everyone goes to before returning rentals, and they gouge. Continue up the road, and you will find gas stations with more reasonable prices. Turn around and go back south on Semoran, which will take you straight into the airport.

Definitely AVOID SUNCOAST ENERGYS gas station! They charge SEVERAL DOLLARS PER GALLON extra. This is the one that is on the right as you go north on Semoran Blvd.

It looks like the 7-11 just off the Beach Line Highway should be a fairly easy on/off at Exit 8 (when coming from WDW).

I used the BP at Exit 13 (when coming from Port Canaveral) - just off the Beachline. Quick return to the highway and off at Exit 11 for the airport.

Thanks for the info re. the gas stations. We will be returning to Orlando Airport again and I was thinking about getting prepaid fuel. We will be coming from the St Augustine direction. Hope I can locate on of these stations ... I do have trouble negotiating on US roads.

I am in !!! I have just found 7lbs in Florida and I need to shift those and more before the cruise. Ideally I would like to shift 14lbs. I am not quite sure how we can do updates on a thread like this though. Any ideas ????

The Underground subway is the only way to go. DH and I thought it was so easy to get around the city by subway. Hope you have a great time....so much to see in London....so little time! :goodvibes

I much prefer to walk in London .. the underground is so crowded and grubby and somtimes it takes longer to get down there, wait for a train, board a train, travel, and get out tagin than to walk fro A to B in the first place. If you are only there for 24 hours also the Ho Ho buses are great, as you can travel around London, get off and see the sights etc.

wow nancy you certainly are doing your research :surfweb: looking forward
to seeing this with aglass of champers in hand:cloud9:

Sounds like a plan Sarah ... champagne under the full moon !!!! :cloud9:

So, I've just been diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea and will go on July 29 for the sleep study which determines CPAP settings. Then they wanted to schedule the follow-up for..........September 13! :lmao:

With a great deal of jealousy, they rescheduled it for September 1!

O what a relieve the reschedulded it before the cruise. Do they give you the results then. I hope that they can do something about it. Good luck with the sleep study.

You can get them both in UK and US. Our original one was from Sharper Image, but they closed down. Then we found this one on Amazon from Sound Oasis. We bought it on Amazon. Here are the links for both UK and US. As we live in Skopje, this one, while a bit more pricey, works with both US and European power and comes with multiple plug heads. It has been great.

We love this one. Worth the money. It has more than just ocean sounds can hold multiple times.

Just one opinion.

There has been some interest in a possible meet up for anyone that lives in the Kent surrounding area. Bluewater seems the best option to meet and they have lots of different bars etc- and a Disney store!:rolleyes1

I'm guessing that a weekend meet up is probably best. Hazel and I are free most weekends so I think if we throw some dates around to see whocan do when it'd be great to meet some fellow travellers face to face.

Well do to various trips including to DLRP... We are only free on Sat 13 Aug.

:-)

Went to see Harry Potter today, and then took a stroll around Downtown Disney.

For those interested in the insulated glasses, I did see one other style with a skull & crossbones (pirate theme) in hot pink at Tren-D. For some reason, it was a few dollars more than the Mickey and Minnie ones even though it seems the same size and shape.

Also, I saw mini fans. They were $7.95, came attached to a key chain, and I didn't think they provided much air at all. Not a good recommendation from me.

Good thoughts to those of us who have been having medical concerns,
Karen

Couldn't pull up either web sites. I'll try googling it on the computer. Thanks!

Two nights stay at a new hotel on the west side of London on the estate of the Duke of Northumberland, Syon Park, giving me Monday to visit Kew Gardens and Hampton Palace, .

AuntLynne - You will love the new hotel (Wadorf Astoria). Just stayed there with work. It was amazing. Awesome Shower and a TV in the Bath with you. Every room has a 42inch HD TV and an Apple TV to boot!

Hope you enjoy your time in London. I live about 1 mile from Hampton Court palace. I love it there and please do not forget Bushy park it is massive!

Thank you.

Need to knock off one of the http:// for it to come up though.

That is a nice one. It isn't the one I came up with, this looks so much neater. I wish it was £30 or more cheaper though.;)

Still can't pull it up. Do you have to buy a sea sound card also?

Just wanted to wish Jacqueline all the very best for her surgery today .....sending pixie dust and lots of :hug::hug: for a full and fast recovery.

I'm not certain if you are referring to the insulated beverage cups but if so, let me share something that happened to me on the EBTA 2 months ago. I brought 2 such beverage cups (great to keep things cold & contained against spillage), with a smoothie in one. My DD left it outside the Oceanears club (where all drinks/food have to be when you check in). DD returned to get her smoothie and it was chucked out. If you bring such a cup put your name on it. Ours had MickeyM stickers on it but our name would have seemed more personal. Some CM think it's garbage & chuck it out. I looked at Lost & Found repeatedly and was not able to get it. If you do bring them on board, you can leave it behind for the CM. They love those cups as well. Another tip for your Server/etc, is to leave your pirate hats behind. They are so appreciative of anything they receive. It's so nice. :)

Just to share, there will be a full moon out on Day 3 of our WBTA cruise, so get those romantic walks & cameras ready!

Thanks for the advice. I was just thinking yesterday that it wouldn't be a bad idea to put a label on the cup w/ my name & stateroom number just in case. But I will have to be extra mindful not to leave the cup behind in the first place b/c it could still get tossed or someone might also think it is a very cool cup and take it for themselves.

Yes I'm obsessed. I check for my room assignment at least 5 times daily!
I just like thinking about my location....it makes me happy!;)

I know! The cruise will just seem more real to me when we actually have a room onboard.

Went to see Harry Potter today, and then took a stroll around Downtown Disney.

Karen

What did you think of the movie Karen? I've read all of the books so I know what happens, but I haven't seen the movie yet - I'm hoping to see it this weekend.
