in that case we'll all be being punished then......... (based on the amount of slightly rude and impatient posts we've made about DCL in the past week...)

(sung in the tune of we are sailing):

we are waiting,
we are waiting,
to get our rooms,
on the ship.
we are waiting,
impatiently waiting,
DCL,
do it now!

1st august - DCL room assignment day, AND the FE cut off :)
must mean we're getting close!

ok, i need to turn the computer off, i think i've checked the DCL website about 15 times in the last half hour...... i need some professional help! becoming addicted to that "retrieve reservation" button..........

I just have the DCL site with my reservation showing open in an unused tab, for which I hit refresh about once every 2 minutes...but i'm not obsessed, I swear.....:rolleyes1

i'm trying the other option, closing the tab after i've looked, then re logging in every time. nothing so far.
what cat are you in mary? we're supposed to be in a 9d

I have been intrigued by these backing cubes and the like. How are they better than just packing your stuff in your bag? If I could justify I would probably buy but I can't figure out how it is any better, other than organizationally, to have these than to just put the stuff in my bag. Any insight would be appreciated! :)

I love my packing cubes. They really have changed the way I pack. Now everything is so organized and in its proper place. It makes it easier to unpack, keeps my clothing organized, less wrinkles and helps when I need to separate dirty items from clean items. And the few times that TSA has opened my luggage, they can't mess it all up when its in cubes. Also having a cube in my carryon is a godsend b/c its not just a bunch of stuff floating around in there.

Yes, that's what we like about our little town! We're the best kept secret! :thumbsup2 We are due west of Houston and southwest of Katy. They built the Westpark tollway that goes from Houston (connects with 59 and the Sam Houston tollway) and goes all the way west to Hwy 99 (which is also expanding). From the end of the Westpark Tollway going west, which currently ends at 99, it turns into FM 1093 and is only another 15 min to get to our town! Here's our subdivision in our town if you want to have a peek!

Yes I know where you are located now! :goodvibes Your home looks lovely, I love the big yards.

got my cabin assigned ....

I got a slight upgrade too...!

Got our cabin! Had a 5C gty -got a cat 4 on deck 8 forward just near the adults only area of 9 portside! (room 8008). Evelyn, I wish I could give you a big hug right now!!!! So excited!!!!!:dance3::dance3::cool1::cloud9:

Yay for you guys!!!:banana: We haven't received our assignment yet.

exactly the way i feel, i'll book the cheapest category available, as i'm happy just being on the ship, i dont mind what room we're in. i'd never buy a cheap room if i wasnt happy to stay there.

Totally agree w/ you Karen! :thumbsup2 Every room on this ship is a good one. We did not get upgraded last year, so I doubt we will this year either - its certainly not something I expect. But I'll be happy when we get our assignment whatever it is!!! :goodvibes

good luck to everyone getting your cabin assignments. We are in the same cabin we picked when we booked. No problems here. A balcony would have been nice, but not necessary. Just glad to be on the ship. Karen Tan, I hope they put you out of you obsessiveness, ah sorry, enthusiasm soon. :rotfl::rotfl:

Will do.:surfweb::badpc::bored::magnify::donald:(My progression of waiting)

I am not sure but I think if you have your res. open they have to wait til it is closed to get into it.

i'm trying the other option, closing the tab after i've looked, then re logging in every time. nothing so far.

I think they start with the top of he ship or cats and work their way down. If you are in cat 5 or 6 you should get your assignments before cats 7 or 8 etc... make sense? they have to work the upgrades and assignments from best cat to lowest cat. So those in cat 10 and 11 will be last to get assignments. It seemed like it was that way on the EBTA

the 9/11 memorial sounds like a fine idea! the attacks occurred at 8:45 and continued til 10:28. could something be planned for that time frame? the ships horn and a moment of silence both sound like excellent ideas.

I want to thank everyone who gave me advice about 1800flyeurope. Just booked one way to BCN Houston to Philadelphia, then on to BCN arriving at 8:25am on Sept 9th! Figure there has to be other Dis'ers on that flight since its a nonstop! Scored a great rate too - $637.39 total! :thumbsup2 Had plans to stop by London but that did not pan out but really OK with that! Will allow me to spend more time at home with my family and work on my business! :goodvibes
So, now its really real, all airfares booked, rooming with Evelyn one night at the Renaissance, and have a stateroom assigned!!! :cool1::woohoo::yay::dance3:This is going to be such an amazing cruise, ya'll!!!! (all this excitement makes me talk like a Texan! :rotfl::laughing::banana:)

I can't begin to thank everyone on this site for all the help and amazing tips. You've made this trip easier, less stressful and a lot more fun!!

Specifically - Noel thank you for the tip about the Travelex card!! I went on Saturday to get one and it makes so much sense.
And Lynn, thank you for the information about booking the next cruise while onboard. I've found what I want to do next and now I just need to add that to the budget.

And if I can now beg for some more wisdom... Disneyland Paris. My plan is to go for one day and attempt to go to both parks. Every guidebook suggests buying your tickets ahead of time. For my fellow americans, how do you do this? Is it best to order from the british site?

Once again, THANK YOU!!!!

As for getting your holiday mojo back, how's this for inspiration?

Thanks Liz, that made me tear up :goodvibes

I'm hoping to go to the water park on Saturday also to work on my tan...I LOVE floating around the lazy river all day!! :yay:

One of my most fave things to do .. enjoy it for me too :cloud9:

I am still in the same cabin ..... but no worries ... I am happy there :cloud9:

Ditto Sarah :goodvibes

Yay!! We had a 5c cabin, but were afraid of getting "upgraded" to a non-plexiglass cat 4 where our little ones could not see out, so decided to 'downgrade' and save a few bucks. Curt prefers insides over windows anyway (weirdo) so in our household... I will be thrilled with an upgrade, and he would be thrilled with keeping it the same. :rotfl2: After camping last week, the slightest twinkle of sunrise got me and the girls up... we were out of the tent by 7 each morning!

:worship: Thank you so much!!! I was looking for one but couldn't find one. I am still a novice at the boards so I'm not surprised. :rotfl2:

Well, off to read about packing cubes!

LOVE Packing Cubes!! I literally just got home from two weeks in Colorado, and only did laundry once. The last eight nights it was three girls, two backpacks, no laundry, and that's it. Packing cubes are AWESOME!! :)
